I live up north in an extremely liberal, urban area, and the churches here are no different from the church in this story. My grandmother joined a very white church later in life and she was manipulated into believing that she wanted to donate her house and land to the church... and I don't mean after both pass either. Luckily, my family got power of attorney before that, so that was stopped. The property had to be sold so both grandparents could get the specialized care they needed. Grandma's church, for all intents and purposes, excommunicated her and ceased all contact the second she was put in a care home. My sister has control of my grandmother's finances, so luckily, no one can con her out of the money she needs to live comfortably. Besides that, I'm glad my grandma stopped going there. Not long after joining she started making racist comments anytime she went out in public, or whenever I talked about non-white friends. It was humiliating. The fact any church thinks they have the right to demand "material goods" for some kind of "heavenly favor" is disgusting.

Hey. Don't let other people get in the way between you and god. I suggest you just don't go to Mega Churches and make your own small group of friends for family to get together on Sunday instead
Jesus said: *“Even when as few as 3 gather in My name, it is church”.* Don't let a building full of hypocrites stop you from being a good Christian. Live your faith. Donate your time, or money to local charities that are actually helping people in need, and volunteer. Have Bible study in your home with your family, maybe invite friends over too once in awhile to study with you. Don't let a building, and an ineffective preacher keep you from God. I think it's in Luke where someone asks Jesus how to pray. He goes on to say “My Father prefers those that closet themselves away and say the Lord's prayer alone, verses those that stand on the street corner for all to see them praying”. See I don't remember verses exactly, because I haven't sat on a church pew in the past 50 years. I went to a Baptist school, so I went to church 6 days a week, for 4 years. Half of my grade was Bible, fail that and repeat the year. So it was memorize what you needed this week, then on to the next. So now in old age, I remember the jist of it, but not book, chapter, and verse. “Train up a child in the way they should grow, and when they are old they will not depart from it.” That's in Proverbs, and was my school motto. 50 years and I still remember that. So yes it works. March to the beat of your own drum. Just don't leave God behind. You only have to have faith as big as a grain of mustard seed. Take care, stay safe, have a nice day. 👵☮️❤️🖖🙏✝️🎣
No, it's not. You just don't want to go and use that as a justification. It's the same as someone who says they won't fly because of accidents. The truth is, they just didn't want to fly in the first place but don't want to admit it, so they use something as justification. Just like how most flights are perfectly safe, churches like that are the minority, they are just the minority that get all the attention.
Thats not an outlier, its a feature of that mythology. My mothers church was FIRST in line demanding cash and property when she died, followed by the neighborhood church and her "friends".
If this poor woman would have been without a loving family those people in that church would have taken full advantage of her and took every cent she had. I would have been in that church the Sunday after she passed and i would have let the whole congregation know just how ungrateful and greedy those pastors were.
I have a family member who is a pastor. He lives in a mansion. He tells his flock crazy stuff such as "Facial hair is a tool of the devil." He made my dad shave his face and I was SO angry because my dad thinks he looks like a boy without facial hair (and he kind of does considering that he looks about 20 years younger than he is) and it really bothers him. Mr. Pastor has to preach for like an hour at every family funeral whether he had a relationship with the deceased or not and got visibly upset at the last one because myself and my cousins kept taking the microphone to say nice things about my uncle who passed instead of giving it to him. He sure wasn't interested in being of service while my uncle was dying, though. That is what this story reminded me of. It also reminded me why I don't go to church and why I will never tithe. These are the types of people who make all religious people look bad, which is incredibly unfortunate.
LETS GO GRANDMAAAAAA 🥺 It sad because all she wanted was for them to show up for her but they never did the way she showed up for them. They didn't care about her until it came to her will. Instead of going to the hospital to pray for her, they came to tell her to think about the church and give them money. I cant even think of them using that money on the church. I bet he would've pocketed it. I'm glad she exposed them and didnt give them SHIT.
Imagine those idiots trying to figure out how to pay less than half a penny. I know that’s not how it works but I can see a 90’s sitcom plot of them trying to break a penny in two with a hammer 🤣
My mom is exactly like this Grandmother in this story: She is the sweetest, most loving, most giving person I know. And now my little sister has made her into a grandmother by having a son. And my mom delights in and she loves her grandson very much. I am sorry that this woman died, but I believe she is in Heaven now with GOD and those of us who are saved by the blood of the Lamb will meet her one day in Heaven as well.
This is a prime example of what some churches do all across the bible belt. Something similar happened to my first stepmother. Some time after she and my father split up, she quit drinking as much as was normal for her and joined a local church. She wasn't extremely well off, but had a health pension from her first husband coming in. The church loved her, because she was giving them the money she no longer spent on alcohol and maybe a little more. Until she got sick with failing kidneys and/or liver. That's when they disappeared completely from her life. She was no longer tithing and the money went to her healthcare and they dropped her like a hot rock. Not a one of the church leadership, or congregation went to visit her, or attend her funeral later. I moved down to the same area in 2016 and for the first couple months, I had visitors from local churches twice a week. I told them all that I hadn't decided on which church to attend yet and thanked them for their time, knowing that I wouldn't be joining any of them.
And people like this are the reason I will have no part in any sort of religion. I grew up with “Christian” grandparents raising me, and they were always so proud of their exclusionary beliefs(though grandpa had many good qualities that helped to balance the scale a bit more)
18:11 lol sometimes I forgot how different the Bible belt churches are to Regular churches. I have spent my whole life here and i was more shocked that the senior wasn't the one shaking her down. They don't usually let the junior near them since they don't have to guilt tripping down yet. The churches around here are more like country clubs than places ment to help people.
Talk about awful church! Given all that grandma's done for the church to help the community, they refuse to help her in her final years of her life. Good for her for not helping the church in her will. The church deserve nothing from the family or grandma.
Something that you should know it's that what we read that's in English isn't actually what the bible really says when it was changed English words were change and it was made to sound more elegant and whatnot
When my Grandma passed, my extended family fucked off, I had a family large enough to be a militia, our own tribe, but once my Grandpa's and mine best friend passed, everyone who wasn't in my household, my Ma, Pa, and Sister, all left, it is 5 left, we were over 30, but they abanndoned her and us, and my Grandpa is hurt, I am hurt, we were loved by so many, but we still got my parents and sister.
I myself am a very conservative Catholic but that pastor is completely in the wrong the Bible does not condone greed or using gods name to justify asshattery
Imagine trying to gaslight a dying person in giving you money even though she probably helped so much in that church that she could already go to heaven without doing anything for the rest of your life.
the person in the story reminds me of my grad father his mind was sharp as a tack til the day he pased i still miss him eve though is has be 20 years ago
Being a Christian my self I find these two boneheaded pastors appalling. If I help someone I normally don't ask for money. I help out when I can and I've also accepted Jesus. That's it. Now if people wanna go to church cool. Be careful though: Holy House it may be, not so holy people there are. As for the Grandma I hope she rests in peace in Heaven. She's done good in my books.
I'm not an expert on the scriptures, but I do believe in the Lord, and I do try to live as a good Christian, though I often fall short of how I know the Lord wants me to behave, but I digress. I do remember hearing (and I'm paraphrasing): "Ye shall know them by the fruits of their labor," or something along those lines. Essentially, *actions* speak louder than words. It is easy to "talk a good game," so to speak, but it is the actions of a man or woman that show their true character.
I feel like this is exactly what the grandmother in this story helped her family and her pastors see. She got them where she knew they would hurt the most, where their actions proved their worth
I believe it deserves to be said that these people are not a true example of what the vast majority of true pastors are like. My two pastors are two of the best people I know. It would not surprise me if this storys church turned out to be Catholic Christian instead of a different denomination. My dad was born into a Catholic church but when he married my mom he joined our Lutheran Church and he said several times that he would not ever return to the Catholic version, he believed that the Lutheran was more closely following what Christianity truly was.
I, myself, am Catholic as the rest of my family are and this is heart breaking, but I'm not surprised. My dad is not the best Catholic because he doesn't go to church and this is almost the reason why. He hates the Vatican as much as I do because of the stupid ways they run things in their churches. RIP to the legend Grandma and my great aunt (because they r both great Catholics) Edit: don't get me wrong, some Catholics are awesome and kind, but this is just disgusting for the church to do.
I actually thought she was giving them money. She did so much for that racist church for over fifty years just to be abanded by them for the last ten years of her life after breaking her back and then they try to make her give them money and make her cry while planning her funeral, she seemed like an amazing person and deserved absolutely none of their shit
In Singapore We Hold Funerals Mostly In Housing Estates, either the estate of the dead person or the estate of the person who organised the funeral. Ofcourse it can also be held in a church temple or mouse.

He sure wasn't interested in being of service while my uncle was dying, though. That is what this story reminded me of. It also reminded me why I don't go to church and why I will never tithe. These are the types of people who make all religious people look bad, which is incredibly unfortunate.
Greedy church members? Ooooo surprise surprise
Fantastically AWESOME STORY. Good for you Grandma. RIP. BRAVO!!!!
Okay not gonna lie.
If it was my family...
Id get arrested for bludgeoning a "holy man" with something.
Same
LETS GO GRANDMAAAAAA 🥺 It sad because all she wanted was for them to show up for her but they never did the way she showed up for them. They didn't care about her until it came to her will. Instead of going to the hospital to pray for her, they came to tell her to think about the church and give them money. I cant even think of them using that money on the church. I bet he would've pocketed it. I'm glad she exposed them and didnt give them SHIT.
fun part is those two pastors wil have to pay inheritance taxes over their cents, can be as high as 40%.
Imagine those idiots trying to figure out how to pay less than half a penny. I know that’s not how it works but I can see a 90’s sitcom plot of them trying to break a penny in two with a hammer 🤣
Best grandma someone can ever have, sorry for your lost though 😞
Most normal church leader behavior
A pastor stealing money from parishioners? Whatever happened to the vow of poverty and "Thou shalt not steal?"
And 'greed being a sin too.
@@QuickManEXE People like that will never get far in life
Take this as a lesson everyone. You can’t call yourself catholic/Christian but have so much hatred and evil in your heart.
Much of that hatred and evil comes from the sin of pride.
You know I absolutely agree. I’m a Christian myself, and this story was so heartbreaking for me to listen too
That granny is definitely a big benefactor in Heaven as she exposed the heretics
The part where ''the very last time'' gets spoken, the gameplay core glows, fitting perfectly
Happy Sunday AITJ fam! Hope y’all have a great week ahead! ❤️
Nope, I got a dentist appointment tomorrow and work 4 hours after that.
I wish I had a grandma like that or even a grandma at all 😭
My mom is exactly like this Grandmother in this story: She is the sweetest, most loving, most giving person I know. And now my little sister has made her into a grandmother by having a son. And my mom delights in and she loves her grandson very much. I am sorry that this woman died, but I believe she is in Heaven now with GOD and those of us who are saved by the blood of the Lamb will meet her one day in Heaven as well.
That grandma is a trooper
I've heard this story before, but it's still awesome!
Grandma is awesome and the world lost a diamond when she passed
That grandma is a savage
Grandma, you are sooo coollllll...
1st: They only have themselves to blame
And people like this are the reason I will have no part in any sort of religion. I grew up with “Christian” grandparents raising me, and they were always so proud of their exclusionary beliefs(though grandpa had many good qualities that helped to balance the scale a bit more)
Pride is a deadly sin and is the ring of Hell in which they currently reside.
@@JamesDavy2009 Not grandma yet. She’s still clinging to life
@@raarasunai4896 I hope she lives it well.
OP's Grandmother is a true angel!
imagine if your pastor demands you money from your loved ones.
you will get revenge on him.
Man, grandma really gave the ultimate middle finger to the church
When my grandpa died the priest shook her down for $200 she couldn’t afford to get my grandpa out of purgatory!!
I love the grandma of the Poster 😂❤
Your grandma and grandpa were true Angels
18:11 lol sometimes I forgot how different the Bible belt churches are to Regular churches. I have spent my whole life here and i was more shocked that the senior wasn't the one shaking her down. They don't usually let the junior near them since they don't have to guilt tripping down yet. The churches around here are more like country clubs than places ment to help people.
A will reading like that IA only on the movies. Lawyers don't gather the family to read it out.
Damn bro grandpa got business
Talk about awful church! Given all that grandma's done for the church to help the community, they refuse to help her in her final years of her life. Good for her for not helping the church in her will. The church deserve nothing from the family or grandma.
Something that you should know it's that what we read that's in English isn't actually what the bible really says when it was changed English words were change and it was made to sound more elegant and whatnot
When my Grandma passed, my extended family fucked off, I had a family large enough to be a militia, our own tribe, but once my Grandpa's and mine best friend passed, everyone who wasn't in my household, my Ma, Pa, and Sister, all left, it is 5 left, we were over 30, but they abanndoned her and us, and my Grandpa is hurt, I am hurt, we were loved by so many, but we still got my parents and sister.
that was a briliuent move
I’ve heard the first story before, but I still love it. Sadly, people such as these are why I walked away from religion.
You can be a good person without it.
@@JamesDavy2009 exactly.

I myself am a very conservative Catholic but that pastor is completely in the wrong the Bible does not condone greed or using gods name to justify asshattery
W Grandma 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What a shame they still got .03 cents 😞
Should have gotten $6.66
they shouldn't get no dollars at all.
It’s so that they can’t claim they didn’t get any money.
Plus the 1cent is kind of a bigger slap then not getting anything would be.
@@thehund yeah but that’s still 3 extra cents they shouldn’t have oh well screw that church
How can that pastor call himself a christian?
Absolutely disgusting behavior.
this is like the catholic church in the middle ages
The 1 cent 😂
Best story I've heard in a long time
I saw this story on TikTok I listen to it when I go to sleep every now and then
I was extremely confused by the emphasis on big white church until they brought up the other church
Mafia shakedown 🤭🤭🤭
Imagine trying to gaslight a dying person in giving you money even though she probably helped so much in that church that she could already go to heaven without doing anything for the rest of your life.
The demonic baby eaters got me lauting😂
first story, i was like, she gonna give the church 1 cent, i was right
That pastor is the definition of entitlement.
the person in the story reminds me of my grad father his mind was sharp as a tack til the day he pased i still miss him eve though is has be 20 years ago
She's done good in my books.
same here.
That is very common with Evangelical churches. My mother's pastor is like that. I left the church years ago because of their hypocrisy.
Evangelical churches, outside of their religious zealot ranks, are known as religious blackmailing businesses
@@Tricky_VicAs Jesus had also said, "Whatever you are doing to these little ones, you are also doing it to Me."
I was won over immediately at "Big White Church" naming.
i am so glad i got a really nice pastor.
Sounds so like Texas now🙃
I know its not the time but...
WHAT OTHER TERM FOR DEVOURED ❓❗❓❗
“Big White” church. Does that refer to the building, or the members? (Listened to the rest of the story. Yup!)
as a christan man, im ashamed of those "pastors"
I, myself, am Catholic as the rest of my family are and this is heart breaking, but I'm not surprised. My dad is not the best Catholic because he doesn't go to church and this is almost the reason why. He hates the Vatican as much as I do because of the stupid ways they run things in their churches. RIP to the legend Grandma and my great aunt (because they r both great Catholics)
Edit: don't get me wrong, some Catholics are awesome and kind, but this is just disgusting for the church to do.
She give them a penny, maybe they'll get a clue
I actually thought she was giving them money. She did so much for that racist church for over fifty years just to be abanded by them for the last ten years of her life after breaking her back and then they try to make her give them money and make her cry while planning her funeral, she seemed like an amazing person and deserved absolutely none of their shit
Bro, that grandma is a Chad
Suicidal tendencies has a really good song called Send me your money about people like these pastors.
I have heard this story before.
In Singapore We Hold Funerals Mostly In Housing Estates, either the estate of the dead person or the estate of the person who organised the funeral. Ofcourse it can also be held in a church temple or mouse.
