This was the best ever. I have been so frustrated with multiplacing but after learning how to do the angle on picking them up I’m placing them so much better and straight. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️
After Diamond painting for more than 2 years, I'm finally starting to use the multiplacer. It's great to see so many different points of view so I can pick and choose what works for me out of each video from different creators. Thank you for this 💜🤗💜
You’re more than welcome! It’s definitely a learning curve, but hopefully with different people sharing their different approaches, that makes it a little easier. Let me know how it goes! ☺️
One thing that I have learned about multi placing is if you set down your drills horizontally, do that way all the way thru. If you set down vertically, do vertically all the way thru. Don't do both horizontal and vertical on the same painting. It messes with row placement and spacing, making your finished painting look jagged.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I had no idea what to do with the multiplacer tips. This will be a lifesaver. I did a huge project by single place. I am so ready to try this tool. You rock!
Thank you so much I watched this tutorial this morning I've never had any luck with multi placing but after this I have managed to have more luck and beginning to see how its faster!
Thank you so much for this video!! I’ve been trying to multi place for the longest time but I’ve never been able to get it quite right until trying your tips ❤️❤️
Oh my goodness! I thought I was doing pretty well with my multi placing until I watched this tutorial. This is a great technique and works a lot nicer. Thank you!
Thank you for the tips ❤ I've been trying to figure out multi placing for the last two years, and I just started working on a color blocking painting that is perfect to try these tips on 😊
I had just finished watching your washi tape video And this one started to automatically play. I am working on a canvas as I am watching your video and I was multiplacing. Well you have changed the game for me because I always had so much trouble with it and I did what you said and wow did it ever work out wicked. Thanks so much for doing this video. 💗
Oh my goodness, I'm so happy to hear that it helped, Diane! It took me awhile to figure out why multiplacing was so frustrating for me, too. I hope this makes diamond painting an even more enjoyable experience for you!
Katie, you're tutorial on multiplacing round drills was so valuable for me. I am walking my multiplacer from the left and my drills are more aligned than before. You are such a godsend in the field of diamond painting and I get so much from your videos. GOOD JOB!!!!
Oh my goodness, Marcia, you are so kind! Thank you, your encouragement really made my day! I’m just so happy to hear that it was helpful for you and that multiplacing is going a little smoother for you, too.
I've been using a four placer with quake hold and just realized that the drills in one color are slightly different sizes. I wouldn't have noticed if i were single placing. The hint about picking up from the side looks like it will be very helpful. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for the tips. I specially liked the picking up the drills at an angle instead of straight down. That would really help me since i struggle to see where i place my drills.
Multiplacing is so rewarding, I love seeing timelapses of huge blocks of diamond painting canvases being done using a multiplacer! I like the way you multiplace! Similar to the way I do it but a little bit different. Thanks for sharing and yes, the white placers are definitely better than the clear ones! I need to grab museum putty!
Thanks friend! It was so fun to see how you and I have different (and similar!) approaches. Hopefully that just means we’re helping even more people get the hang of it! It’s such a timesaver.
Awesome advice on the horizontal placement technique vs vertical! I had been placing vertically for some reason, just what I started with I guess, and I immediately found that after following your tips that my drills are much straighter now. I have an empty single placer on the other side of my pen, just for fixing issues as I go, and I have to use it way less now. I also have tried quake putty (as well as just about every wax/putty on the market) and it was my favorite, but I have since switched to micro glue dots all shoved into a metal multiplacer. I think I use about 10-15 of the glue dots in my 9 placer. This saves me tons of time because I rarely switch them out. Thanks for the helpful video!
Welcome!! I’m so glad that you’re here! Thank you so much for the kind words 🥰 Ooh, your first kit? Welcome to the hobby, too!! It’s super fun and addicting. Let me know how you like your first kit!
I have just started multi placing after a month of single placing......and you have encouraged me to keep working on it.....this is life changing!!! I thought.....oh no, single placing is relaxing.....and realized if I am going to do the larger pieces that I need to multi place. Your videos are very relaxing to watch as well as educational! I am super duper new to diamond painting, so I'm soaking all of this advice up like a sponge!!
Aww, hooray! Lisa, I'm so glad to hear that this was helpful. I had a really similar approach when I started, where I just enjoyed how relaxing it was to single place. But then I wanted to get more done, more quickly, haha. Welcome to this really fun and addictive hobby!! I'm so glad you're here!
I’ll be so curious to hear how it goes, Barbara! I really love the 6 placer. And thank you! I’ve only ever managed to snag a couple of Bella’s pens but I really love her turning style.
Oh my goodness! This has to be the best tip I’ve hears since my short time of diamond painting. I was trying, without great success, to start multiplacing. I wasn’t getting on very well at all and was thinking of giving up. I am now doing as you suggested an picking up at an angle, absolute game changer! Thank you so much for making the time to do your tutorials 😊
Just wanted to say thank you SO much for this video. I could never get the hang of multiplacers, despite watching numerous other videos and tutorials. My projects are moving along much faster!
Oh, I’m so glad to hear that it helped, Gabrielle! It definitely gets easier and easier with time, too! Let me know if you need tips with anything else ☺️
I’m a little bit late…but thank you for this video. I was questioning whether to multiplace vertically or horizontally. Vertically always seemed to lose part of a row near the end and I had to go back and fix the rows so that they would line up, I’d that makes sense. After watching your video I will switch to horizontal placing. It may be easier for me. Thanks again!
Hi Katie! I have just recently found your channel. Love your videos! They are so informative. This multi-placing video has been a life saver. I had just about given up on this until I heard your tips. Success! Thank you so much!
Hi Ann! Welcome!! I'm so glad you're here :) And I'm so happy to hear that this video was helpful for you and that you're having better luck with multiplacing! Yay!!
I multi place like you but backwards as a lefty! I started doing it this way because I had a weird tray where the ridges were too far apart to pick the drills up straight so I started going at an angle to make them line up against one of the ridges. I’ve been trying to let go of getting them perfectly lined up and just enjoy the process.
I think that may have been one of the things that prompted me to try going at an angle, too! It's easier said than done, but totally worth it to let go of trying to make them perfect and just enjoy the craft 💛
Oh, I'm so so happy to hear that! It really can make such a big difference, but definitely give yourself time to practice and get through any learning curve you're feeling. It's such a game changer! Let me know if you have any other questions about it, I'm always happy to help!
I sometimes pick up drills at an angle when I multiplace but not on purpose! I’ll have to give it a try and see if it makes placing horizontally easier for me. It is so interesting how many ways we all approach doing the same thing! I’m definitely team “adjust with your single placer” - I hung onto a pen that I don’t really like to use as my straightener, since I don’t care if the tip ends up getting warped from all of my poking and prodding. I would enjoy a video about multiplacing squares; in some ways I think it’s easier than rounds but at the same time it can be tricky. Also I see that good fancy washi tape! 😄😍
I totally agree - I love seeing what each person brings to the table, and it’s so invaluable, I think! I’ll be so curious to hear what you think. I’ve been playing around with different ways to multiplace vertically, just to challenge myself a bit. And I’ll see what I can do about a squares video! 😉 Stay tuned! And yes!! I’m trying to make sure I actually use my pretty washi tape and not let it just sit in my hoard, haha!
Loving the tips & tricks 🎉thank you so much - diamond 💎 art 🖼️ has saved what little sanity I have left😊 Please can you tell me also on this video where you got the wristband on your right wrist? - much love from me in 🇬🇧
I have only just embraced the multiplacer. I would not ever say I'm great at it but it's OK! My messiness makes it mine. And I think you are right, practice is key!! I find my straighteners help to go back afterwards. I never thought I would convert. 😳
Oh friend, I never thought I would either! Now I can’t imagine NOT multiplacing! And it’s not about making it look perfect, it’s about enjoying the process - and I love that you’re embracing how it makes it yours! 💛
@@DiamondsandWashi For me it is absolutely about the process. When I see perfect straight drills I'm a little jealous but...I will always be able to know my own. I think. I will definitely try some of your suggestions!
Thanks for posting. I love your content and it’s been really rainy 🌧where I’ve been but your videos help me stay happy🙂 and not gloomy😕. I know everyone’s opinion on multi placing are different but do have a suggestion on a diamond pairing kit that includes lots of one color . I would love to practice multi placing and I feel that having a big canvas with mostly one color for the background would help me practice .💜💙💚❤️🙂🥰😍😎
Thank you sooo much ❤ so I will begin with my skinny plastic placers ❤ but I did buy my 1st resin pen that came with metal placers that are wide (like the one you showed in the beginning) And it all feels HUGE, (including the single? 😥) So I'm hoping you have (or will make if you don't already?) another video showing how to use those bigger ones easier/better. Fingers crossed.
Thank you so much for this video. I started diamond painting having no clue what I was doing. I've only done 4 so I'm very new. I tried to use the multi place tool and wasn't sure how it worked. I'm excited to give your technique a try. I do have a question, I have never used square drills, which do you prefer square or round?
Thank you for this video! I have tried placing horizontally but feel like I have more control when placing vertically. I’m definitely going to use these tips to try horizontal again and I want to start trying with a 6 or 7. We’ll see how it goes! Love the nails! I need a fresh mani.
Thank you for watching, Kara! I feel totally opposite, where I’m so much more comfortable with placing horizontally. But I’m trying to challenge myself a bit and play with placing vertically more! Isn’t it funny how we all have such different styles? And thank you! I love my Color Street. A little pampering at home when I can’t get out for a mani. Let me know how the multiplacing goes!
I would love to see you do a video catering more to square multi-placer. My current WIP is 56x99 square and I’m just hitting the 1/4 of the way through “line” and I’ve single placed every drill.
Hi Candace! I actually did a “Part 2” on multiplacing that focuses on square drills! Here the link, if you’d like to take a look: ua-cam.com/video/ddtfaOhKLEg/v-deo.html I hope that helps!
Yes please, could you show us how you multi place with square drills? I really enjoy watching your videos when I diamond paint and look forward to seeing more of them.
Thanks so much Katie for your awesome tutorial!! I would definitely be interested to see how you both multi place, and single place your square drills, ie. Do you checkerboard them when single placing, etc? I'm new to DP. Thanks so much!! Cheers, Melanie
Hi Melanie! Welcome! ☺️ I’ll see what I can do about another video, with square drills instead. I don’t feel as confident with square drills in general, but it can be a learning process for all of us, haha. To be honest, I don’t usually checkerboard, but I really think that I’m the exception rather than the rule. Checker boarding is super, super helpful especially when you’re getting the hang of squares, so I still highly recommend it! ☺️ Thank you for watching and for being here! Please let me know whenever you have questions or whatnot 💛
Yes!! You know your Color Street! Coral Bay is one of my very favorites. I was on a no-buy for awhile, but I really loved their most recent release (Deep Space?) and couldn’t resist the color-shifting one. But I hear you on having enough sets to change it up every week for a year 😂
I spy Simply Gilded on your canvas in this video! I have every exclusive roll she has released! Are you also a decorative planner? I just started Diamond Painting last Thanksgiving and I am loving it! But pretty planning is my first love.
Ooh, a fellow washi fan!! I only discovered Simply Gilded a few months ago and only have a couple of subscription boxes from her, but I’ve been SO tempted to just place a giant order of washi 😂 I actually don’t really use a planner, but I love alllll the pretty accessories and find other ways to try to use them. Maybe I’ll branch out into pretty planning someday!
@@DiamondsandWashi do share videos when you embark on your planning journey. It's quite the rabbit hole with so many different styles of planning that I am curious to see which way you decide to go. I am an Erin Condren girl. I use both the daily and vertical weekly planners and I make my own stickers so that keeps me pretty busy! Diamond painting has cut into my time a bit with planning but I am striking a nice balance after 3 months.
@@jessdiamondpaints I definitely will! I tried bullet journaling for awhile, and then was on a Happy Planner kick (well, I’ve gone on those every so often, really) but nothing ever seems to stick for me. I’ve heard wonderful things about Erin Condren, too!
Definitely would like to see more on multiplacing. I am going to look at your other ones too. I see you have one out for squares so I’m going to watch that one. I’ve been diamond painting since 2013 and always just single placed everything. However, I have a huge stash of diamond paintings (especially from DAC) and really want to get through them faster. Your drill placement is just so perfect. I’m just now trying to get the hang of multiplacing and am starting with a two placer. I’ve tried a four placer too and I think my biggest problem is getting them straight on the multiplacer in the first place. I have the drills all nice and straight in the tray but when I go to pick them up, they don’t stay straight on the multiplacer so then they don’t lay down nice and straight. Any idea what I’m doing wrong?
I tend to be a vertical multiplacer. For some reason it’s easier for me to see where the drills are lining up. However...girlllll...you showed me that I’ve been multiplacing wrong all these months!! I always squeeze my drills together when picking them up! No wonder mine never look as neat as yours! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
See, I have such a hard time seeing the drills when I try to place vertically. I need YOU to do a multiplacing tutorial 🤣 Also, I’m super tickled that I showed you something new! I’m so curious to see if that makes a difference for you.
Does placing them this way avoid any gaps? I saw another video where the person said that the gaps on her painting (very obvious in some places on her painting) was caused by her using a multiplacer......
Interesting! I multiplace vertically, but I hold my tray vertically too. I pick them up at an angle too, but from right to left. And I place them right to left too, so no issues with sticky hands. The drills stick out a bit on the left side of the multiplacer and I let the left side touch first. I can’t see what I’m doing horizontally, it’s a really awkward hand movement for me. Unfortunately I’ve only had a few canvases with good drills so far, so there is always a problem with lining them up. Right now some of the drills are too small, so they don’t end up in their squares 🙄🤨 Have you tried the curved multiplayers? There a bit wider, but I like them on rounds so far. You can’t pick up drills from an angle though, so I’m a bit hesitant with squares.
Isn’t it fascinating how we all seem to have different approaches to things like multiplacing? I keep trying to get the hang of placing vertically, but I’m so clumsy at it! I’ll have to practice and kind of try it how you’re describing it. I’m sorry you’ve had trouble with drill quality! That really does make a difference and can be super frustrating with squares 😕 I have tried the curved multiplacers (from LexyLily Crafts) and I really want them to work for me, especially since I rock from one side to the other. But they’re difficult to use when you pick up at a bit of an angle like I do. I should try them again, though!
Yes!! Have you had the chance to use their washi tape yet? It’s such a huge difference from your run-of-the-mill washi. And if you want spoilers for the next box, they’ve shared the theme and sneak peeks on their Instagram! Simply Gilded Box is the name, I believe.
Hi new to your channel subscribe to it you have done amazing job explaining to me because I am new to diamond painting this month on December 7,2024. Happy holidays to you. I am having trouble with my waxing and it gets gone so fast what do you recommend me to get? Thank you for your help in advance.
So you don’t feel the metal tips would work better so that the plastic tops don’t wear down? I’m starting to multiplace and working with the Staroar plastic tips like you suggested. However, I am finding that they do eventually wear down and get the grooves. So I was just wondering g if going with the metal placers. If so, do you know of any other metal multiplacers thst and the thin ones other than the expensive Everlasting tips?
It takes some practice, but try tilting your tray at a slight angle, and shake gently. Sometimes lightly tapping on the side is helpful, too. Also, some trays are better at helping line up your drills nicely - my current favorites are from Munimade on Etsy, but the larger white Staroar trays from Amazon are good, inexpensive options, too!
You can peel it back similarly! I like to use washi tape to section off my canvas, and then use scissors or a small exact-o knife to cut the section so I can peel back just that section to work on.
This was the best ever. I have been so frustrated with multiplacing but after learning how to do the angle on picking them up I’m placing them so much better and straight. Thank you for sharing. ❤️❤️❤️

One thing that I have learned about multi placing is if you set down your drills horizontally, do that way all the way thru. If you set down vertically, do vertically all the way thru. Don't do both horizontal and vertical on the same painting. It messes with row placement and spacing, making your finished painting look jagged.
Thx for the tip. I wondered about that. ❤

I know everyone’s opinion on multi placing are different but do have a suggestion on a diamond pairing kit that includes lots of one color . I would love to practice multi placing and I feel that having a big canvas with mostly one color for the background would help me practice .💜💙💚❤️🙂🥰😍😎
I definitely think that would help! Practice is always good ☺️ Thanks for being here, Daisy!
@@DiamondsandWashi your welcome
Very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you! Very useful video!
Did you refer to museum putty? Where do you get that?
I would love to see you do a video catering more to square multi-placer. My current WIP is 56x99 square and I’m just hitting the 1/4 of the way through “line” and I’ve single placed every drill.
Hi Candace! I actually did a “Part 2” on multiplacing that focuses on square drills! Here the link, if you’d like to take a look: ua-cam.com/video/ddtfaOhKLEg/v-deo.html
I hope that helps!
Yes please, could you show us how you multi place with square drills? I really enjoy watching your videos when I diamond paint and look forward to seeing more of them.
Thank you so much, Joani! I’ll see if I can put together a video on square drills, too ☺️ Thank you for watching!
Thank you you have been very helpful. I was hoping there was something besides the wax it leaves colored marks.
Do you use a Self-Stick Drill Pen? It looks easy and fast, but I hesitate since you don't even mention them...???
Thank you for watching and for being here! Please let me know whenever you have questions or whatnot 💛
What can I put in my multi placers? The diamonds keep falling off my pen. I'm new. I'm only placing with 3 right now. Thank you
Love your nails! Coral Bay? That one’s on my wishlist but I had to stop buying for a while because I have enough sets for a literal year!
Yes!! You know your Color Street! Coral Bay is one of my very favorites. I was on a no-buy for awhile, but I really loved their most recent release (Deep Space?) and couldn’t resist the color-shifting one. But I hear you on having enough sets to change it up every week for a year 😂
@@DiamondsandWashi I love the new space shades! I ordered a Light Year even though I SO don’t need it!
Any suggestions on how to get the drills all facing the way they need to be picked up
Where can I get plastic multi placers?
I have a horrible time getting my drills to line up in my tray. Do you have any tips? Thanks.
Hello
Does anyone know why the diamonds aren't uniformed?
What about us lefthanded people. Do we lay the drill down from left to right instead of right to left?
Thank you
I have issues getting the diamonds onto the plastic row device suggestions???
Does placing them this way avoid any gaps? I saw another video where the person said that the gaps on her painting (very obvious in some places on her painting) was caused by her using a multiplacer......
I want to know the trick of lining up the drills in the tray? I shake & they never line up right
I have a problem with the roung drills sticking to the canvas when multiplacing
My lines are crooked. I'm multiplacing and I'm new at it. What can I do?
Interesting! I multiplace vertically, but I hold my tray vertically too. I pick them up at an angle too, but from right to left. And I place them right to left too, so no issues with sticky hands. The drills stick out a bit on the left side of the multiplacer and I let the left side touch first. I can’t see what I’m doing horizontally, it’s a really awkward hand movement for me.
Unfortunately I’ve only had a few canvases with good drills so far, so there is always a problem with lining them up. Right now some of the drills are too small, so they don’t end up in their squares 🙄🤨
Have you tried the curved multiplayers? There a bit wider, but I like them on rounds so far. You can’t pick up drills from an angle though, so I’m a bit hesitant with squares.
Isn’t it fascinating how we all seem to have different approaches to things like multiplacing? I keep trying to get the hang of placing vertically, but I’m so clumsy at it! I’ll have to practice and kind of try it how you’re describing it.
I’m sorry you’ve had trouble with drill quality! That really does make a difference and can be super frustrating with squares 😕
I have tried the curved multiplacers (from LexyLily Crafts) and I really want them to work for me, especially since I rock from one side to the other. But they’re difficult to use when you pick up at a bit of an angle like I do. I should try them again, though!
Could you use a saudering pen to melt the plastic smooth again instead of filing it down for the multiplacers?
I hadn't thought of trying something like that, but maybe? That's an idea!
@@DiamondsandWashi yeah I figured one quick slide and it would be less waist
Wow!!!!
I notice you're using the washi from Simply Gilded "growth" package. I just received notice for the next box. Yeah! I wonder what this one is???
Yes!! Have you had the chance to use their washi tape yet? It’s such a huge difference from your run-of-the-mill washi. And if you want spoilers for the next box, they’ve shared the theme and sneak peeks on their Instagram! Simply Gilded Box is the name, I believe.
@@DiamondsandWashi unfortunately, I don't have Instagram and I have limited use of Facebook
My first problem is getting the drills to nicely line up in the tray and right side up.
Me too!!
🌹🌹❤️❤️
Didn't see how you got them straight
My first dimound painting had paper over it and I get it, the one I have comming has clear cover that I don't get(how to peel?)
You can peel it back similarly! I like to use washi tape to section off my canvas, and then use scissors or a small exact-o knife to cut the section so I can peel back just that section to work on.
Ok Thank You🌷
I'm seem to be only good with the 4 multiple places anymore sucks 4 me

Too fast for me.
Disappointing...the volume on the audio started out high and dropped too low.
