Thank YOU so much for this video! Before you even said it I was thinking, “She’s sacrificing that picture with all those tests!” I really appreciate all the time and effort you put in these videos. Your top ten 10 tips were great too! I’m new to this dot painting...at first I was snobbish towards it but now that I’m making “Starry night,” I’m seeing it as more of a clean type of mosaic!
I bought my kit today and I’m addicted to the ease of doing a bit and coming back to it at my leisure. I do many other messy crafts and this one gives gratification without all the mess!
Again thank you for your help!

Another great one is MINWAX POLYCRYLIC CLEAR GLOSS. Mrs. Crochet and Coffee recently posted a video testing it out on a rhinestone diamond painting, so I bought some and tried it on a few regular ones. None of the sparkle has been lost! And it was super helpful to learn about the Minwax because it's hard to find your 2 picks right now due to the coronavirus situation.

Firstly - you are very relaxing to watch! I really appreciate this knowledge you have shared. I don't do diamond painting, but I do use half of the products you test here on many different things and have always been curious as to which actually is better for what. I do know from my experiences though, that if you wish to maintain a light reflective quality on plastic/glass/stone items while using triple thick or any of the liquid varnish products, you can use a slightly damp sponge - or lint free cloth - to remove the product from the top of the gems once the product has settled down into the crevices. Use warm water to dampen the cloth. This way there is no product layer to interfere with light refraction once dried. Thanks for this great knowledge, I really appreciate how much this experiment would have cost you as well.

    • @StudioSam
      @StudioSam  5 років тому +5

Thanks so much! That really is a great idea...because its mainly the gaps and crevices that need sealing...the top surface could be free to reflect and shine! You're going to have to start diamond painting now!

Hi, I have never even heard of diamond painting until I found your channel. I love how clear and thorough you are. I wish I had learned of this craft years ago. I am living with advanced metastatic cancer and have quite a bit of pain. Maintaining one position for very long is impossible. But, I might try a small canvas and see how it goes. Your work is certainly very beautiful. How long does it take for you to complete one of your large canvases? My life can be measured in months now, weather 12 or 24. I'm afraid if I start a large one I will not be able to complete it. I want to complete some kind of craft for each of my family members in my remaining life. This is so attractive to me. Perhaps I could get a friend to help me. Sorry for my "thinking aloud." It's how I figure things out. Thanks again!

Oh my friend...I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I think craft can be really therapeutic, and it might be great distraction for you. Smaller kits...around 30x40cm can be finished in less than a month, or even a week or two if you’re able to do a little every day. Let me know if I can help at all.

They come in packs from 2 to 6 and they are not very expensive. They are quick and you can learn from them and make some beautiful markers. Also they will be a wonderful thing for your friends and family to have as a token of your love. Just thought I'd suggest that. God Bless!

    Hey there Sam...
First off I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed watching, I am new to all this diamond painting stuff and had never seen it before about an hour ago when I was having a mouch on Amazon and it popped up, so I deceded to research what it was as I am quite an arty person and now doing a little research of what it's all about and watching videos and gathering information so I can set myself up to start doing it you have helped me with some other tips with sealing, course it just totally makes sense! 😊
I am a massive Little Mermaid Fan and as soon as I seen your piece I couldn't believe how sweet it was and loved that you did all of it with the glitter seal, I think I can kind of see how it would look, I know sometimes it's hard to see on camera but from what I could see it looked beautiful and went perfectly with it being The Little Mermaid 🧜🏻‍♀️
I just thought i would drop you a few lines so you knew that you had made me want to do it even more so I am going to order a kit...
I don't suppose you remember where you got The Little Mermaid art from do you please? If so I would be most grateful if you could let me know, though I know it may be a little different for me as I am actually from the UK 🇬🇧 in England.
Thanks again, I wish you all the best.
I have liked and subscribed so I will be able to keep my eye out for future videos 👍🏻
Sorry about my longggg comment too haha, take care

Thank you! I didn’t know how to proceed and like you, I want to test all my options ... but I only have one diamond painting. For my first one, it is large - 50cm x 70cm. I was visiting my brother who lives in China and their ayi was working on one - I had never seen diamond painting and wanted to try. She got one for me on TaoBao. I have never made comments on UA-cam. I would like to send you a picture but maybe I can’t. I especially appreciate that you included the owl painting with the round stones because you anticipated all my concerns about the spaces in between. I am trying a second one with squares - a very different experience. Again, I am so grateful to have come across your video when I started my search!
I am also thinking, if you have extra stones from Starry Night, and/or from other projects, you may be able to save Starry Night by gently removing the over glued sections ... and replacing the stones ... then with a small brush, seal those sections - kind of blend the sealer with those parts already sealed. Hope you are enjoying your morning coffee. I’m writing from Westport, Connecticut USA.

I really enjoyed your video and the comparisons between the different products. I am going to try the Deco Art glaze because I like the results from it. I have the Tombow glue, but have hesitated using it. I never thought of the possibility of it yellowing or cracking. I used the Mod Podge extreme glitter and wasn't very happy with the results. It seemed like I lost some of the definition in the painting because of the glitter. Thanks so much for sharing.

I actually seal my diamond paintings with a very thin layer of Soft UV resin, and I’ve had fantastic results no bubbles, and it doesn’t lose shine or flexibility, but it does need to be the Soft resin not the hard, just a suggestion for anyone who wants to try it, I personally have had great results and it’s my favorite sealer, I’ve tried the modge podge, and wasn’t really happy, I’ve tried other glosses and varnishes as well, including spray on, but so far the Soft resin is my favorite 🥰💕

I would love to try the soft resin. What do you apply it with that doesn't cause bubbles? I can see this would be fantastic for small projects, but have you tried it on a bigger canvas? How would you apply the light evenly to a canvas? Thanks for your idea!

@@StudioSam Not a problem at all 🥰👍🏼 I actually started with small sticker size projects, then I used it on bigger and bigger projects carefully, because I didn’t want to ruin any, but even the much larger projects have help up perfectly, even now years later 😁👍🏼 I just use a flat silicon tool, like the flat silicon face mask bushes that aren’t brushes because it has no bristles, it’s just a flat soft silicon spreading spatula-like tool, and I spread it very even and thinly with that, haven’t had an issue with bubbles yet, I just go vertically section by section, and make sure you don’t add more until you have spread what u already very very thinly till it doesn’t spread anymore, and definitely cure in sections if it makes it easier 🙂

Thank you so much for doing this, I’ve almost completed the one I got of my daughter, son in law and 5 wonderful grandchildren, it’s huge and through working on the whole thing I’ve wondered what I could seal it with. I know how dust is but dust can be just dusted off, and such, but if you live in a home with primarily gas to fuel all of your appliances, then you’ve got the sticky gassy dust, which for something like a diamond painting would get to the point of needing to be discarded, which for all the hours of work, I’d hate to see that happen. It’s beautiful and I want it to stay that way. It’s a gift that I’m very proud of and even though it’s a
Most completed, my daughter has seen it and is loving it already. Now have you had any that’s lost it’s sticky and the diamonds won’t stick, if so, what did you use, I made the mistake of folding it, and the whole folded area is no longer sticky, I bought super glue, but that didn’t go so well, I tried tombow,, wasn’t so great either. I can try those again if that’s what you’re thinking, but I’d really like to finish this and get started on the next kids family, I’ve Already told them to not wear the exact same colors in the family photos for their diamond painting, they need to dress like a rainbow so I don’t have 500.000 diamonds in the exact same color LOL so any help would be appreciated, thank you!

Have you tried the Aleene's Tack It Over Fabric Glue this has been used and recommended by one of the diamond painting and craft channel but I can't remember the channel name. She has used it on a couple of the diamond painting kit which wasn't sticky so she used this and she said that it made the glue very sticky and the beads then stuck very well after using it after how she shows the difference before using it and after. I then have brought it just as back up incase I did ever have a canvas that didn't stick the beads but I have been lucky enough not to need it but I know that it's there if I ever do need it. If I remember the channel who used it I will add it onto as an extra comment but like I said I haven't needed it so I can't personally say how good it is but she highly recommends it and she has used it a couple of times and has been very happy with it. I hope this helps you with what you are looking for. Take care.

I used the tombow aqua glue and have found that depending on the quality of the resins and how I apply determines how well it works. Sometimes it will dry like a crackling mesh and peel off like a snake skin. Thin coats with a paint brush in my experience have been the worst. Thank You SO Much! I can not express how invaluable your style of choosing minimal products to assess the best by job. As a “newbie”to 💎 Art I’m already totally addicted. My 2 Girls & I started our own tradition a few years ago, my goal was heartfelt, heart made gifts for each other, this year after making our Christmas Cards using diamonds in a freestyle form, all of our gifts were a pleasant surprise Christmas Day as we all 3 did 💎Art for each other. I was incredibly impressed at how well they made their choices with such ❤️ & respect towards each other’s likings. My tomboy did a very sparkly high heel pink “strappy” shoe which was so far out of her comfort zone, it brought me to tears, until I saw my oldest baby’s gift to her sister which was a 45 x 60 cm square drill of Converse Tennis shoes in all colors of the rainbow. It wasn’t as far out of comfort zone, but she really went above and beyond to make her little sister happy. They both adored their gifts to each other and oddly enough, I also got shoes from both. They teamed up, each did a 4 set of partials which compliment each other and my likes perfectly. I desperately want to use in my guest bathroom. I’m hoping with the information you’ve provided I’ll be able to seal all of our gifts and we’ll all 3 enjoy them for years to come. I have always had one craft or another going on at any given time and aside from eating my baking, getting them involved has been challenging. I’m so happy to report I received requests for both to receive kits to continue their own crafting and have ordered an assortment for everyone to always have a diamond project to work through. We’re definitely a family HOOKED! I am newly subscribed to your channel and am going to seek your favorite solutions to all the various facets of this craft, hoping to find inexpensive framing options. Thank You so much, again, 100% invaluable to me and mine! Please take care, wishing you and yours a Healthy Happy 2021.
