I would like to add this tip about the organization. It makes it even easier to find the symbol you need by sorting them to what makes sense to you. For example numbers 1-6 or alfabet, or - +/ and put all squares together, triangles, dots. Whatever makes sense for yourself helps speeds picking your stones too. And if u only need 1 diamond dont poor your diamonds in the tray just pick one out of your box.
Absolutely, on both counts!! I realized after I filmed that I forgot to include both of these suggestions (even though they were in my notes!) and seriously considered going back to re-film and include these suggestions, especially organizing the symbols. Even though I don’t organize by symbol unless it’s a project with 80+ colors, I definitely see it as a way to save time!
I use all of these tips already and I fly through canvases. I just started one that is 120x90cm and I'm almost was halfway done only 3 weeks in. Multiplacing is a GAME CHANGER!!!
Yes! Thank you for all the tips! Most I already knew but there were a few that were different. One of my tips, not for making it more speedy per se but to help make it easier, is to do the symbols with the most diamonds to place in a section first. I find that it’s a lot easier finding one or two spots after a huge section has been filled than going through and trying to find them individually.
Same! When I first started diamond painting, I couldn't get through them quick enough. The novelty of a new obsession, I guess 🤭 Now, the process takes as long as it takes. I'm fortunate that living alone means I can leave my kit set up on my table and go back to it as and when it suits ✨️
Okay so, thank you for the tips, also I wanted to say, you sound so sweet and emotionally mature, it truly was a joy to watch your video, you do amazing at teaching without pressure, mentioning themes not many others do, so honest about the craft. Thanks again!
Thank you so much for your tips here. I learned SO much and it has made my first DP project go so much smoother! Love the single placing with a multi-placer!
Katie that was an A+ explanation and suggestions for those who want to increase speed or maximize efficiency during diamond painting. I like to hear everyone's tips and compare them to how I'm doing it. Definitely as you get more experience diamond painting some of these suggestions may come quite naturally and some tips are like aha moments. I pretty much diamond paint as you were tipping except for using multiple placer for more single placements. That was very cool and I'm going to try it. At times I don't have much time to diamond paint so whenever I can I get so happy and look forward to it. It just brightens up my day. I take my time regardless and just enjoy how the painting is coming together with all the beautiful colors, etc. Funny enough, I'm not normally a patient person but when I diamond paint it's like Zen, I have all the patience in the world😂. I listen to diamond painters like yourself and others as I paint and sometimes I learn new things or see kits or tools that I'm interested in looking up; new companies maybe though DAC is still my favorite. I hope everyone finds pleasure in their craft and doing something beautiful for yourself when you can really helps your outlook on things that you have to do. Thank you for a very nice video and enjoy diamond painting everyone!
Great tips Katie! Your tips taught me how to multi-place after many failed attempts. Picking up the drills at a slight angle was life changing! Thanks!
I love the suggestion of single placing or using less drills on your multi-placer, I've been doing that and it makes things so much simpler not swapping things out. Also If you don't have time for a large project there are smaller projects - make sure you choose one compatible with your time and interest. Do feel like you have to do something big if you don't have time or energy - sometimes stickers or keychains or coasters are perfect for the experience and completion boost if you don't have time or energy for a large image. Large stuff is great too but I'm not a large project finisher so I have to choose smaller scale so I don't end of with a lot of WIP :)
I love watching your videos you give clear instruction making thing easy to follow I am from Scotland and Diamond Painting is not as yet so popular here as in the USA so I watch a lot of tutorial on UA-cam for information on the craft and you are one of the best😄
Searched diamond painting for beginners and yours topped the list. Great and helpful video. Received recently my first DP of snowmen coaster set. Will enjoy doing these more now that i watched these tips and encouragement you shared!
I am sorry too many words -- I've tried a couple of these recently based specifically off of you mentioning them in other videos in the last few months or so, and I think (hope!) they have made a big difference for me! Specifically, using the stickers and not using the legend and trying putty again after having some poor first attempts a long time ago. I was the kind of kid/person that does not like to ever use their stickers! Like my sticker box from when I was a kid has every single sticker in it still. So I made my own labels at first to keep the stickers pristine. But you mentioned using the stickers, so, I started using the stickers and I never look at the legend anymore, I'm sure it saves time! After watching your video about putty, I tried many different etsy putties over the last few weeks, and found one that lasts well for me -- Gorilla Glue Putty! I think (hope!) its really sped things up for me, because I am no longer constantly topping off my wax/putty and just replacing my putty usually once or so a session now! It is awesome! Thank you for the great tips! :)
Thank you for sharing, Katie! These are very good tips! I do the same on all except single-multi placing. I've never tried this. I did learn how to multi-place not too long ago after watching your video, but I'm only at a 4 placer. Once I am more confident to move up, I will try out your other tip. Hope your having a great weekend!
I have to tell you that I am a newbie at this new rabbit hole 😉and I appreciate your advice and direction. While you were talking about whether or not to speed through these, it reminded me that there are different kinds of knitters-one is a process knitter and the other one is a project knitter. I’m a process knitter, so this will be a good fit. Thanks again.
I agree with everything you said. I have yet to try the putty so that is my next purchase. I spend too much time reapplying wax so I will be trying the putty. I also need to get a larger tray WITH A SPOUT. That too is a time saver. I recently figured out the single placing with a multi placer as you described here. Definitely helpful. Great video!
This is one of the best DP tutorials I've ever watched. At this point I'm a pro with the craft and multiplacing and we share a similar style. I've been using plastic tips and I agree they develop grooves. They also break and bend lol. I just ordered some metal ones. Thank you for the suggestion! This was my first video of yours I've seen but it certainly won't be my last. ❤
I’ve tried not using the legend but it sometimes took me just as long to find them in my storage containers, especially the symbols. Numbers and letters are easy and, even though I tired to group the symbols into groups (like arrows, etc.), there are always quite a few that just don’t fit anywhere so it takes awhile to find those. Maybe I’ll try it again next time. And I definitely have to work on my multiplacing! Mine get so crooked so often. One time, I’ll place them perfectly and the next time, they’re all over the place. It gets kinda frustrating.
Thank you for the great tips. I appreciate your bonus tip about not comparing yourself and that everyone DP at their speed. It's hard to remember that sometimes when you're participating in the events. I will hit my 1 yr of diamond painting in August and have struggled with wanting to "keep up" with the Joneses. Lol. At the beginning I would only work one kit at a time, but have found 2-3 WIPs do keep things interesting and has lessened craft fatigue. Thank you again for a great video.
I love how similar we diamond paint. I feel like I'm a fast diamond painter and was curious if you had something that I'm not already doing. I will definitely second the storage container tip as an important one. My current WIP I actually have it sorted by color, since the legend sorting didn't make sense, and it makes a world of difference.
Thank you so much for these great tips! I am a huge fan of the Elizabeth Ward storage boxes, but I never thought about actually printing out the symbols and putting them right on the little bead box- I am going to try doing this in my next setup and see if it helps my hunt-and-peck style. Currently working on a ridiculously complicated canvas that doesn't allow multiplacers but I'm listening to "The Souther Book Club Guide to Vampire Slaying" by Grady Hendrix (it's absolutely wonderful if you're a fan of Buffy, True Blood, true crime, and Stranger Things) and it's moving right along.
I’m currently working on this canvas. I am loving it! The special diamonds are so beautiful. I also love reminding myself of these affirmations. I’ve had a rough few years and am trying to get better.
I’m very new to this. Bought a pack of coasters for me and my son to do together. This was very helpful! I have that multi placer that came with my pen but had no idea how to use it.
Wow can’t believe the difference multi placing from top to bottom makes - have been doing the opposite & getting quite frustrated - not now 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 Fabulous video - thank you 💛💎
Thank you Katie for another great tutorial. Your older video on multiplacing was very informative and I can now multiplace without frustration. I am now going to practice single placing with the multiplacer.💖💎
Amazing advice, as always! I picked up a bunch of these from watching your techniques during WIP'n'chats and they helped so much, but I love having a concise video like this reinforcing! For me, efficiency brings me extra joy since it means less time spent on what feels like speed bumps. I'd rather spend my limited crafting time placing drills, not hunting through baggies or replacing wax!
Loved this! I started multiplacing (with help from your video 😉) basically as soon as I started diamond painting. I use a 6-placer and recently tried switching to a 10-placer. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it really has slowed me down! I've gotten so used to my 6 that I didn't realize how much of it is muscle memory now. I would recommend newbies try a 3-placer for a section, and if you think it's something you could get the hang of, immediately jump up to at least a 10. Might as well build a your muscle memory with a more efficient placer, rather than have to re-train yourself like I'm doing.🙄😂
I never like the placer tools but then I started a Harry Potter painting and it had so much black that it was driving me nuts doing 1 at a time so I started using the 10/12 placer but then I found a diamond placer wheel and that thing changed the game for me alot....just look up Diamond painting wheel and it's a time saver for sure
Also, I tried Randa's putty and it was such a game changer that I immediately went and ordered 10 lol. Love the scents and the longevity of it is amazing! The original PaddyWax wasn't a good fit for me, but the PW Super Sticky is the only thing I use in my single placer now. 😄
I just want to say THANK YOU! I found your channel this evening, and am so thrilled to have these new tips. Your instructions are wonderful, as is your voice. Can't wait to go through more of your videos. 😁❤
Putting the symbol on top of each diamond container - genius! I hadn't thought of that before and it's a great tip. This newbie thanks you very much. 😃
Thanks for all the tips. I decided to get myself a new pen instead of using the one that comes in the kit. I have never tried the multiplier tip and tried it today and I love it.
Hi. There are lots of things that you showed that I actually do. I started dp in January this year with temu kits. My thought process was if I damage them is ok cause they cost only a few dollars. OH BOY I did practice a LOT lol. I started My "real dp" 2 days ago with a square kit from dreamers design heavy confetti but I love it. The satisfaction I get from actually see with drills the same image as without drills is amazing. Don't get me wrong, some of the temu kits are ok for being low budget but some others are like "what the heck I was thinking". The images are good without drills but with the drills on you can't even appreciate the image a mile away...
I’m working on my first square drill project and it’s going very slowly. I really don’t mind this-I’m retired and my time is my own. But I’m finding that I have to adjust at least 90% of all the diamonds I’m placing! Is this normal? The only ones I don’t have to do this with are the ones I’m multi placing. Then I hear from other uTubers not to multi place square drills-on dark or light, depending on which channel I’m listening to! Out of all of them, you are the one who has helped me the most and the one I trust to guide me at the beginning of my diamond painting journey. Great video! Thanks for your help.
Hi Susan! Honestly, your experience of having to adjust a lot of your square drills sounds like mine when I did my very first square drill project too. It feels like very slow going! I’d recommend making sure your tray is oriented the same way/parallel to the lines on your canvas, and maybe try using the same wax or putty in your single placer as you have in your multiplacer (since you mentioned you don’t have to adjust those diamonds). Otherwise, I think it just takes a little time and practice to get used to placing square drills.
@@DiamondsandWashi And I just started diamond painting at the beginning of April, and I think I’m expecting too much of myself. I really am loving the craft. Thanks for your words of encouragement. 💕
I'm pretty new here and already I found my sweet spot for multiple 😅 I usually use a 3 and a 5 and I single place with both of them. I definitely love this much more than the single placer! 😅
Great video! I will send folks here as it will no doubt help those lookingbfor such tips. I agree we all work differently so what works for some may not wotk for others so I love that you remind ppl of that. The process is the joy. The finish is a prize. I am told I am very fast. I never think of that😊 never front of mind for me. I would say to enjoy and not stress on speed. Enjoy events and community too. Quality is key and time is precious. Love content creators Katie, thank you. I am a lover of confetti and squares!! Thank you again this has been fun!!
OH this was perfect and everyone who starts this hobby or any other for that matter should definitely watch this first. In 2020 I got my first small kit and 25% of the symbols were blurry on the canvas, got frustrated and put it away for 3yrs. So many of your tips here would have helped greatly. I'm almost done, sectioning and setting a timer is getting me through it with less body aches 😊 I've already order 2 more 😂
I have been diamond painting on and off for 3-4 years and I'm definitely a slower, more careful painter. I personally prefer single placing but I use the checkered pattern to help me place "quicker". As for organization, I use different styles of containers. For example, I have a 4 drawer jar holder that I use for DAC drills and I label each jar with the DMC code for that color. I also keep my Diamond Dots drills in a separate storage since they have their own color code. I enjoyed the video and will work on multi placing lol. Thank you for the tips!
Wow! I’m so happy I watched this! I’ve never single placed with multiple diamonds using my multi placer!! I need to try this!! Thanks Katie:) Love your nails!!
I just started diamond painting and am currently on my third picture. I feel my way slowly and go each time to a slightly larger image. But a friend of mine can't watch me paint because I'm working partly pattern by pattern and not by area. I love it just that you can turn off the brain and am then mentally completely elsewhere. but I can understand that sometimes you have phases where you just want to finish because you still have so many other beautiful images.
Thank you very much for your tips, they are very valuable. I recently started painting with diamonds and it really helps me relax and calm my nerves. Greetings from Poland
Loved this video Katie!! I’m going to practice the single placing with the multiplacer! That was so clever!! Thank you for sharing these tips with us!!😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
Like those tips have to order some metal places next time i order . Gerat tips 😊 your Nails are very very pretty 😍. I an trying blue tak its not bad Have a Lovely weekend 🥰
Thank you so much Katie! I love learning new things and you gave such great strategies, and some I haven’t tried yet so I’m excited to put them into practice!💕💕
Thank you Katie. I have been diamond painting for years and really enjoyed your video. Single placing with a multi placer has helped me too for confetti paintings 🤗🙋♀️😘
I know this is an older video and not even sure if you are still reading your comments. I love the idea of tips 4 and 5. I and going to do that for now on!!
I have diamond painted for a couple years and I have done/tried everything in all these vids. Including the style of drill trays, pens and wax/puddy etc.. The fastest way to deal with the drills -I keep all my drills in trays (large plain white cheap off amazon). I have 100 tray stacks, (the tray holders are kind of pricey, but some beautiful holders from Etsy). The tray holders come with trays too) You don't even have to take time pouring out of the plastic boxes (harbor freight or the Elizabeth container) and pouring back in. I have used both of those plastic containers. Kitting up takes a little time with the trays, and de kitting too, but in the long run it saves so much time. Just pull out the tray, ready to go. easy day. Need one drill, it takes a hot second. Also, a light pad was the game changer for me. If you on a budget the A2 or A3 size most versatile. The smallest A4, works perfectly. Very inexpensive ($15-25.00 amazon) and will really speed up you're dp symbol identification. I use the baggies for storing un used drills only. Now I don't have children, but I do have several large macaws, a dog and several cats, and the tray system has worked without mishap.
Awesome! I'm saving this to watch later. Looking at my scant production this year, compared to the size of my stash, I need all the tips I can get to pump up the production. Lol 5 completions vs probably 60 acquisitions. 😂
Hi 👋 i am a cross stitcher turned to diamond painting addict.. not been doing it for long but ❤it and because i was quite good at what was i doing i want to be as good at this (failing 😅) so thanks for your video , helpful tips loving it
Another few tips. Over time with larger paintings i find i am able to memorise the symbols and pick out the drills without referencing the key at all. Also, if i have a number of drills in a row but there are other symbols interspersed (eg 5 drills in a row with one odd drill in the middle), i will still use a multi spacer and either space some after placing, or pick them up off the tray with a gap in between (like you did for placing single drills with a multiplacer).
A tip that I had found out while doing Diamond painting for multiplacing is if you use your pen and get (for example 3 diamonds) 3 drills across the *i don’t know what to call them* little separate lines you can place diamonds diagonally. |o|o|o| (I wanted to put I diagram bc I don’t know if I explained it good enough 😂
Good morning Katie, thank you for the eight tips. I already multiplace. My light pad I use for blocking off the canvas on large canvases, but I block off small canvases with Washi tape. This is what works for my severely ADHD brain. Plus this with my OCPD, and perfectionist brain. I pick a symbol and complete that symbol. Works for me. Also, I keep my twisers handy to remove Herschel's Beagle fur( he is also half Doxie). Once again thank you for the tips. Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Hi!!! I just wanted to say thank you so much for this video. I was having issues with the wax that DAC sent me bc it was not waxy it was crumbling and they wouldn’t help me so I ordered the museum putty and it was a game changer. Great tips as well! My biggest one I think was that n the comments that said “stop trying to make it perfect cause it takes away from the fun” and she was right I was struggling bc it wasn’t in a perfect row. But with your tips it’s getting straighter. Do you have thoughts on the grooves roller anyone? Thanks again!! ❤
I always use a light pad underneath the canvas. It makes it so much easier to see the symbols. I also use a desk lamp when I'm doing these.
I totally forgot my lamp pad, it sure is much easier to see the symbols
I have bad eyes, and my light pad is a lifesaver especially on dark paintings
Me too
I love how you tell people not to compare. ❤ We are all here to enjoy the craft, it's not a competition.
Every drill you put down is a step towards your goal!! ♥️
Yes! This was a game changer for me it helped me so much, I am glad someone else organizes the symbols like me
Yess! This is the only way my brain works
I sort mine by colour, so I have like neighbours on the canvas close in my storage. The more colours a kit has, the more this helps.
@@DiamondsandWashioh I like your nails

Same here!! Such a game changer for me once I figured this out!
Gave up on all the speed stuff, I do this for relaxation! One drill at a time and they turn out nicely.
Same! When I first started diamond painting, I couldn't get through them quick enough. The novelty of a new obsession, I guess 🤭 Now, the process takes as long as it takes. I'm fortunate that living alone means I can leave my kit set up on my table and go back to it as and when it suits ✨️

I’m a pretty good diamond painter, but I’ve never single placed with a multi placer. I appreciate this tutorial-I’ll try this technique out!
Thank you so much for your tips here. I learned SO much and it has made my first DP project go so much smoother! Love the single placing with a multi-placer!

I agree with all you said. I like how you stressed ultimately this hobby should bring joy and relaxation.
I like to use the angled tips! They work for me to multi place much easier and I can see where I am placing the drills!!
Thank you so much for these tips! I learned a few new things and have been zippin through my Craftibly Craze kit as a result.
Putting the symbol on top of each diamond container - genius! I hadn't thought of that before and it's a great tip. This newbie thanks you very much. 😃
❤Very different approach than other videos I've seen on this topic. Thanks!❤
Thanks for all the tips. I decided to get myself a new pen instead of using the one that comes in the kit. I have never tried the multiplier tip and tried it today and I love it.
Thanks Katie...this was great and I am sure helpful to so many. Have a great day!
I place the squares using the tweezers only. I find it so much easier than the pens
I agree
From now on diamond art club only
I’m working on my first square drill project and it’s going very slowly.
I'm pretty new here and already I found my sweet spot for multiple 😅
I usually use a 3 and a 5 and I single place with both of them. I definitely love this much more than the single placer! 😅
Thanks for this! I didnt necessarily want to be speedy but I want to be efficient and learning how tonuse the multi tool is the tip I need to use
Thanks Katie!
Great suggestions and ideas!
Thanks Katie, this was a very helpful video, I learned how to single place with a multi placer 😊and your positive attitude.
very helpful video I like and will be using alot of your ideas
This is a great video. It gave me a couple choices and something to think about. Thank you for sharing❤❤
Came here to see if anyone had asked where you got the little organizer/stylis holder. Would love to fond something like it!
Great tips/ suggestions Katie. Single placing with multi placer I’m going to try more. Great video.❤❤❤
Thank you very much for your tips, they are very valuable. I recently started painting with diamonds and it really helps me relax and calm my nerves. Greetings from Poland
Great video. Where did you get the holder for your accessories? That was so pretty.
Loved this video Katie!! I’m going to practice the single placing with the multiplacer! That was so clever!! Thank you for sharing these tips with us!!😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for all the recomendations, vry helful
Thank you Katie for the tips ❤
Thank you Katie. I have been diamond painting for years and really enjoyed your video. Single placing with a multi placer has helped me too for confetti paintings 🤗🙋♀️😘
I know this is an older video and not even sure if you are still reading your comments. I love the idea of tips 4 and 5. I and going to do that for now on!!
This was helpful. thank you.
I love your voice and thank you for the good tips... ❤❤
Mmmm thinking i need to try metal tips n "putty"... struggling with my plastic multiplacer n red wax... 😊 thanks Katie !!
Thank you so much for your tips, inspiring me a lot.
Merci pour les conseils 👌❤️
Thank You Katie. Great I deas.
Great tips.
Where did you get that holder for your pens its so cute 😂
Great tips, thank you. I will be getting putty for sure.
Just started watching your videos and I have such a hard time multi placing with squares I just got it down and I love squares lol
Where do you get the labels with symbol and number?
yes! this is much better!! ty
I do this also. Multiplicity is fun
Hi there. Love your teaching. Where do you order your kits from??
Bettie from Calgary, Alberta
I always feel b9etter seeing your videos
Good morning Katie, thank you for the eight tips. I already multiplace. My light pad I use for blocking off the canvas on large canvases, but I block off small canvases with Washi tape. This is what works for my severely ADHD brain. Plus this with my OCPD, and perfectionist brain. I pick a symbol and complete that symbol. Works for me. Also, I keep my twisers handy to remove Herschel's Beagle fur( he is also half Doxie).
Once again thank you for the tips.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Hi! Is it possible to get links/names for the products that you showed us in the beginning? I loved your video! 😍
It also helps to have a light board. Sometimes I use the ease1 that comes with it.
