The best thing about Mr. Libido: When you first meet a new side character, before you learn their name, their text boxes usually list them with some description, like "shifty guy" or "cheerful man". Mr. Libido's says "Walking Erection".
Cirax Records Naughty Dog gets it but also makes amazing graphics. Bethesda no so much graphics but normally fun games and obsidian of course fallout 4 looked good though. And DICE. well they're Swedish but still.
You know this is funny when theres more customization options for your cabaret girls than other games have for their entire character customizations...
@@gobl_ Gameplay? Yeah, sure it's fun for all levels of play. But it's not very challenging. I had to download a separate difficulty mod on pc to get an actual challenge. And before you ask, yes I know there's a legendary difficulty in the game. That mode is also too easy. Anyways nobody has mentioned the side quests. They're exceptionally well done. There were a lot of moments that make you actually care about the characters in a freaking side quest. Such as the pocket racing quest and (the best side quest imo) the Michael Jackson side quest
To be fair the invisible wall critique doesn’t really hit with me because those little red circles get removed by like chapter 2, and right when u get tired of the first zone they put you in Osaka. I mean it says on the box it takes place in a small Japanese city. Yakuza isn’t about some big beautiful map, it’s about attention to detail. Arcades, karaoke, pocket car racing, dance clubs, and like 300 side quests that all have a story line and characters.
dont mind him, he's is so used to empty shiny western AAA titles that something original and fun is kinda new to to Joe. Just watch Jim Sterling or Dunkey who imo give best opinion that matches my frequency
@@abadenoughdude300 this is exactly why I stopped playing games like Assassins Creed, Skyrim, Fallout. The maps are huge, with not enough substance to keep going between places fun and interesting.
I’m somebody who usually prefers dubs, but honestly I cannot fathom Yakuza 0 being dubbed over. Nothing will ever compare to this stellar singing/voice acting.
How is it a GTA clone? You can't drive vehicles, weapons are only limited to Melee, there are invisible walls up the wazoo, and you can't attack innocent bystanders. The only thing that is similar to GTA, is that it's a crime story around gangsters. That's it.
The whole "invisible walls" argument doesn't make any sense. Its a smaller map, every yakuuz game is. But it has a lot to do, the world being bigger would be a determent to it.
@@Montasir125 I dunno, I was pretty damn immersed for the first few hours when there really are a lot of walls forcing you towards your objective, it was just too cool to stroll around this neon-blazing town. As for the general invisible wall limiting the entire play area, well duh, this is the place where the game takes place so you don't go beyond that. What was he expecting, the game world being the size of the actual planet Earth?
because people want gta sized maps, which is actually bad because most of the times the world is empty with just a section of it having actual activities
You think ALL dialogue in a game like this should be voiced? Holy hell you do realize what kind of budget that would need? Really glad you reviewed the game though, this is the kind of attention the series needs actually.
It really isn't important that the gameworld in Yakuza is "small", because it's not the size of the space that matters, it is what's inside of that does. Yakuza manages to give you a better open world experience than 98% of AAA Open world titles out there. It is so densely packed with shit to do and discover, even if the entire game world is so small that you can just run from one end to the other within a minute or two. It doesn't matter that Yakuza 0 looks like a souped up PS3 game, because it still manages to outperform it's competition. For me, Yakuza 0 is a near damn perfect game. I will admit that there are some dumb things about it like that you get the money toss ability way too late, the weapons are a very small part and some heat moves are just a bit too tricky to use, but damn if all the other shit the game does doesn't make up for it.
You’re 100% correct. Just compare this to a AAA open world title like Cyberpunk. Sure, cyberpunk is bigger in size but the world is not nearly as compelling as Yakuza 0’s.
I agree 100%. Most AAA open world games are completely bare; yeah, they're huge (see Ubisoft) but there is NOTHING to do. I would rather play in a condensed area with lots of interesting avenues to explore than on some sprawling map with bare minimum content.
BadLuckKlebitz High scores aren't given just because game is fun. You have to looks at the overall aspect. This probably have gotten 9 or 10 if the game was more explorable with less invisible walls. Granted I would've given BF1 an 8, but it really depends on individuals.
SinnerJ yeah, I guess so. I still wouldn't have given battlefield even an 8 considering its main draw is multiplayer and eventually the servers will be shut down or hackers will ruin it, while you can always go back and play through a single player game like yakuza again.
He probably had more fun with witcher 3, even in 2017 no game can match witcher 3, the only game that can compete this year is red dead redemption 2 if it turns out good.
I don't understand the obsession of open-world with some gamers, especially western ones. Who cares that you can't go into every building? Most open-world games are about 90% nothing with 10% actual legit content. The Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza series is near perfect in its design with just the right amount of exploration to where you get to mess around if you want but it's dense enough to where you're not wandering for 10 minutes in an empty area. MGSV is a perfect example of that nonsense.
John Doe because it’s annoying when they give you a level that seems open but when you try to explore you get stopped by invisible barriers and shit. I don’t care if a game isn’t open world but don’t have these huge open levels and then force you to stay on one narrow path of it
Also born in the early 90's and enjoyed a lot of linear games. Crash Bandicoot and Metal Gear Solid. Didn't play V yet but hate too many open spaces like Just Cause 2
I still can't believe Joe went from this game (chronologically the first), ignored Kiwami, jumped to Yakuza 6 (the last), got frustrated and confused that the game didn't sit down and explain 5 games/10 years of story to him, yet also complain that 6 had way too many cutscenes establishing the consequences of Yakuza 5's ending that it directly follows. Also, didn't he learn his lesson from 0 that imposing his AAA Western game expectations on a Japanese title was a mistake?
@@Humble197 I did play the demo and they have an encyclopedia for each game main events and important chracters. Sure there's a lot of reading but at least it's informative.
A lot of people don't seem to know that Yakuza 0 was originally on ps3 so if people are complaining about graphics then just bare in mind that japan got this game way before the rest of the world did. I think the graphics over all are really good but sometimes you do textures and parts of the game that are outdated but with that aside it doesn't take away that Yakuza 0 is fantastic. Definitely deserved to be nominated for best ps4 game of 2017 if not winning the actual award for it.
Must be an epic *storyline* if it made Joe cry, twice?! I'm definitely giving it a go. Love the disco dancing and karaoke scenes too, reminds me of Sleeping Dogs, but better ^^
TBH comparing Yakuza to GTA or Sleeping Dogs is pretty misleading, especially in terms of gameplay. But I can see why people get this impression. Somebody recommended HBH's Yakuza vid - oh gosh, watch it. It's long and slightly outdated in places (it was recorded before Yakuza 5 got its Western release), but you won't get a better overview of Yakuza games in English.
Hector G which proves that semi open world game does not have to have the best graphics in order to succeed it just needs to be fun overall. that's what the pc master race will never understand let them think about it. it's not how a game looks to me it's how fun it is. it's really hard to explain that to a PC fan boy because they keep countering back at me saying if it ain't 60fps or 120 FPS or 4K resolution it's crap. I don't really care. if the game is fun I don't care what resolution it was even if this game was running at 144p instead of 1080p I'd still say it was fun.
Sorry but not 60 fps is more important. And 1080 and 60 fps is not a graphics its a technical handicap. PC master race playes indie 2d games while console losers play shit like order 1886 /
A personal favourite of mine is when a character is struggling to think of the phrase “Boxer” so he calls his friend a “fisting artist” To which Kiryu goes “Whoa! I’m not into that” That’s fucking hilarious.
And then when he describes the concept of "a customer pays a fee and can take as many swings at me as he wants for a minute" Kiryu immediately goes "Is this a new S&M thing? That aint really my scene."
Geoffrey Zoref Not really, the sleeves are too long and the blazer could use some tightening as well. The Superman belt just makes it 100x more tacky too. Is it a good caricature of a Yakuza member? Sure why not. I wouldn't call it a good suit though...
David Motherfucking Bowie Precisely. It's a good suit for the game. It's related to the wold present in Yakuza, as such it's a good outfit for the review. Would you wear it in real life and call it a sharp suit? Don't think so.
I was a bit reluctant to pick this one up even after this awesome review... boy was I wrong. This is best game I played in months! The story, the fiighting, the characters, omg! I LOOOOVE Majima. Will be picking up other Yakuza games for sure. For all the hesitant ones - GO GET IT NOW.
This was my first Yakuza game, and now i need the rest of yakuza games in my life, or ill die! This game has ruined all the other games for me with lazy writing, voice acting and storytelling.
Welcome to the club then. Since Yakuza (storywise) goes by numbers and keeps it simple (sequel of 0 is 1, sequel of 1 is 2 and so on, basically no crazy titles), its easy to follow everything from 0 to 6 (with the older Yakuza games being re-released for the PS4, just with "Yakuza 1" and "Yakuza 2" (both for the PS2) being called "Yakuza Kiwami" and "Yakuza Kiwami 2" for the PS4) The rest of the series, while "just" spin-offs, i think you should give them a shot as well. "Yakuza Dead Souls", "Hokuto ga Gotoku" (AKA "Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise" and yes, based on the Anime) and we can all hope that "Judge Eyes" (or "Judgement") will be coming to the west very very soon. However, if you dont mind Japan exclusivity, then there still are "Kurohyoo" and "Kurohyoo 2" for the PSP, "Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan" for the PS3 and "Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin" for the PS3 and PS4. If thats not enough, then you still can watch the japanese movie based on "Yakuza 1" in the west called "Like a Dragon", directed by "Miike Takashi".................a director that usually does good but over-the-top movies but in "Like a Dragon", he stays rather "normal". And if that is not enough "Yakuza" (or "Ryu ga Gotoku" in Japan), then, like at lot of us are doing, can wait for the next game called "Shin Ryu ga Gotoku" ("New Yakuza") which still has to be announced.
Same. I got Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1 and 2 and remastered 3, 4, 5 and 6 all for 70$. Almost the same price as a single call of duty (60$). I got probably 800 hours of gameplay. But the last Yakuza is 60$ and I bought all of them for 5 to 10$ (except the 6 which was 20$). I'm just waiting for it to go on discount and let's be honest (and this is not a spoiler): it became easier for me to wait when I learnt that Kiryu will not be the main character of the game (idk if he'll even be in the game).
@@arctorusmedia I think that's a good thing. He reviews games so he needs to be able to point out anything that can be considered an issue for some gamers no matter how trivial those issues are. As a reviewer he has to pick apart the good and 'bad' and be as unbiased as possible. That way his videos will be useful to a wide spectrum of players and not seem like one of those paid review channels.
That is one awesome news. I can't imagine buying Yakuza & Yakuza 2 for my collection shelf, they are expensive af. Even Yakuza 3 & 4 are not cheap, sellers on ebay are selling them like they're f'ing gold.
I recently bought Yakuza 3 & 4 (steelbook) on Amazon for 15€ and 25€ respectively. European versions, though, don't know about american, but what's the difference really?
Had never played a Yakuza game in my life. Saw this review about a year ago... and bought Yakuza 0 on PC... I have now played through Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami and I'm currently on Chapter 5 in Yakuza Kiwami 2.... the stories and characters in these games is what keeps bringing me back. They really make you care about them... it's like a really really good book. I also teared up in Yakuza 0 as everyone should... (Tachibana and Makoto). They are so well made with plenty of bang for your buck... Zero and Kiwami are both only $20 on Steam... and both are 30 hour games WITHOUT doing all the side stuff... if you are a competitionist... you are looking at 70+ hours EACH. These are games every gamer should play
Bro one must admit the Majima-Makoto-Tachibana story sure had everyone tearing up out there. It makes you think and even reconsider some of your life decisions. The people who were involved in this game deserve all the awards they can get.
carlos santos It was a great story. Even the cliff hanger about the bat tattoo. They make you think it’s Tachibana, only to reveal its Oda she’s talking about. Good twist
Judge Tom graphic is a factor for evaluation. It what creates atmosphere and immersion. Depend on the aim of the game graphic can be VERY important. For example, games like ori is a very good game mechanically. However, it selling point HAS to be the art style and the graphic. Its so visually stunning that it makes the game so worthwhile to play.
For people who are not aware kiwami came out in 2013 in japan on ps3 thats why they always look so dated , so any yakuza game that came out in West (besides original 1 and 2) came out 5 years prior in Japan
Not quite, but I beat Yakuza original, and I just beat Kiwami last month. I'm planning to play Yakuza 2 after South Park Fractured But Whole before Kiwami 2 releases. I bought all of them, they're just waiting for me. Even preordered Yakuza 6.
Haven't had so much fun playing a video game in years, and I've been gaming on and off for over 3 decades now. This is proof that a top notch game does not need bleeding edge graphics or a silly open world game design that resembles real life to captivate audiences.
Tony Juarez Yakuza 0 is great but the only problem with playing that one first is that you need to lower your expectations for the first game. It’s still a good game but it 0 is still much better
Sorry AJ haters. I was with you for a while when Joe was releasing game reviews in such a messy, unorganized way... but he really did outdone himself with this review. And now that he has a schedule... your forces of hate are dwindling. Thanks for giving us a better Angry Joe, but our relationship ends here. Better get to work, because AJ has the upper hand in this imaginary war at the moment ;)
Every payphone in my city is broken or vandalized, most of them have been removed by the city, but yeah it would be a daunting mission to accept. I would have to travel pretty far XD
Yakuza 0 changed my standards on open world and rpg games. Side stories and side content in this game are so hilarious, engaging, and worth the while that there are times I consider the main story as the distraction (never thought this would happen). I realized density of the map is much more important than size. I can only wish the developer (RGG studios) make a proper Gintama game with Yakuza gameplay, that would be a day one for me.
I was on the fence too, but saw it was on sale on the PS4 store, so I bought it. I can honestly say that this game is amazing. I now cherish this series as much as dark souls, but for completely different reasons of course.
I can’t wait for the Fist of the North Star game by Sega. I heard it’s gonna have Yakuza styles fighting, and I’m really hyped about it. The trailer really made me think of Yakuza.
Always trust Joe to do a FULL review - not some 2 bit 4 minute ign or gamespot shit where they only say small things. Joe goes the FULL mile and tells you about the game. From the endless mini games, gameplay, story, graphics etc. Thats why Joe is number 1. And always will be.
Name Noname I miss really fun side content and mini games like this! Not picking up the 100th flower to make ONE potion or doing some arbitrary side quests of mandatory connect the constellations in Dragon Age Inquisition. Yeah, the open world structure and side quests really hurt MGS V for me too. I passed on FFXV for the same reason.
This game is beautiful. May not be the most advanced graphics by todays standards, but they are clean and tasteful. The 80s Japan setting is interesting, the combat is fun, the minigames are well made, the tone is balanced, the acting is great and the story is really good. Great intro you did there btw!
RexXflash every element in a game is important. What is really annoying is those people who cares about GRAPHICS ONLY. Completely ignoring the rest and that's why major game companies has been getting so generic with their games as they're like "They want more graphics, let's boost up the graphics and not care much for gameplay! That's what the people want!" To me is not about the quality of the graphics in the textures. As in like the HD textures etc. I'm more of how the style and quality of the graphics is presented and used. Some games that simulates 8-bit or 16-bit style graphics, they manage to make it look and feel amazing because of the way they construct and represent it. Visually pleasing and fitting well with the gameplay and/or storytelling(if there is one)
Not really graphics, this game is more like art style, like borderlands, you cant compere these games with Witcher and BF1/CoD cuz there going for art style instead of "good graphics" or realism But yeah graphics doesn't matter unless your Battlefield
RexXflash bruhhh borderlands is not shit, that's why it got game of the year and on steam its Overwhelmingly POSITIVE, and people liked the art style, like the Tall Tale series its not realistic and people like it.
Only entitled millennials that get mommy and daddy to buy their games care about graphics. I would gladly pop in Zelda a link to the past, Castlevania, or even Legend of the Dragoon. This is what happens when you don't discipline your kids.
My favorite mission was protecting miracle johnson through a zombie horde music video shoot, directed by stephen spinning, director of the critically acclaimed A.T.
Howya Doin I'm comparing a game that can tell a story (Yakuza) with a game that finally managed to get a non-cliche story going on the fifth try (GTA).
Well, Angry Joe and Other Joe, as a Yakuza veteran, I welcome you to Kamurocho, the city that never sleeps where people want to fight you, everyone smokes, and cabaret clubs are like the best therapy sessions
Battlefield1 Hype was it really necessary for him to spread a fake rumor not even remotely true i don't think so unless he was just talk randomly then i would say yes , people usually thinks before they talk
With jogging, it makes the game look lazy. With walking, you can see Kiryu turn his head to see something and some weird suit guys bothering him, and it makes you look more into the streets and love the lighting of the shops and places. This game has so much details when you slow it down.

The Yakuza games are pretty fantastic. If you really want a starting point after Yakuza 0, I'd recommend Yakuza 4. HyperBitHero did a fantastic (and almost hour-long) retrospective in his Your Next Favorite series that covers all of the games prior to Yakuza 0's release if you want a spoiler-light overview, including the stuff that didn't make it over here. I can personally vouch for 4, and I know that 3 is a bit on the fillery side with some of the weirder Japanesey content (such as the hostess clubs) cut out (probably for fear that western audiences would mistake it for something worse), but it's apparently quite a good game in spite of that and by all accounts, Yakuza 5 is even better. I'm looking forward to Yakuza 6, but this month I mean to pick up Yakuza 0 and get back into the series that way. It's too bad they never released the HD remaster bundle of Yakuza 1 and 2 outside of Japan, since it did transplant some improvements onto those two kind of dated PS2 titles. - Lewis
kenterminatedbygoogle I highly recommend playing the games in order, there's continuity with the story, and I can easily say imo the best story in gaming, with so many memorable characters, only one that comes close is naughty dog, but preference wise this series just inches above last of us for me.

Not true, kiddo. Everything isn't great looking but it's more than just face models looking good. It's a 1080p/60fps PS3 game that still looks better than other games on PS.

That is true. I think the reason they chose to use the actors' likeness in the game was becasue the characters they played were one-off characters who don't reoccur in the other titles, that's why other characters like Kiryu, Majima, Nishikiyama, and Shimano all look "unrealistically" human because they make appearances in the later entries.
Yakuza Kenzan: Ok Yakuza Ishin: Fucking Amazing Yakuza Legend of the Black Panther (or whatever the title of the PSP games translates as): Pretty damn good Yakuza Kiwami: Its a better version of 1, but the added story bits, and improved combat (using 0's as a base) makes it a overall better game.
However 6's story is the problem for me. If Yakuza 6 is called New Game 1 or something, the story is fucking amazing. But if you try to connect it with 0-5, you see a lot of lazy writing and confusing parts when it comes to any old side characters (some as main chars in 0, 4 and 5). EDIT: However I still think it is a great game, and a bittersweet ending for Kiryu's legend.

Mr. Libido's says "Walking Erection".
🤣
Graphics don't make a game, wish western companies realized that.
Plenty of western indie developers that don't rely on graphics.
Cirax Records Naughty Dog gets it but also makes amazing graphics. Bethesda no so much graphics but normally fun games and obsidian of course fallout 4 looked good though. And DICE. well they're Swedish but still.

Other than that though I really liked this review:-)
dont mind him, he's is so used to empty shiny western AAA titles that something original and fun is kinda new to to Joe. Just watch Jim Sterling or Dunkey who imo give best opinion that matches my frequency

I'd say that his "invisible walls" criticism is more about it breaking immersion, rather than the size of the game world.
What I found good about this review is that Joe is pretty much how a regular dude playing Yakuza for the first time would react.
I'd take smaller yet filled and immersive over large but dull and empty any day.

I'm glad this series is finally getting the recognition it deserves.
You think ALL dialogue in a game like this should be voiced? Holy hell you do realize what kind of budget that would need?
Really glad you reviewed the game though, this is the kind of attention the series needs actually.
Near dub is a waste of money and shouldnt be done
get out of your bubble and enjoy some other culture
HonoR95 The dub in the first yakuza wasn't bad though
***** you sir are an idiot
The Elder Scrolls Online has their entire content voiced which is probably more dialog than the entire Yakuza franchise, so it is possible.
Johan Öberg Witcher 3...
There is far more freedom and customization in Yakuza 0 than in GTA 5. The amount of content here makes Western open world games feel hollow.
I would rather play in a condensed area with lots of interesting avenues to explore than on some sprawling map with bare minimum content.
damn right
Joe seems like he has had more fun with this game than any game in 3 years
cjfunstuff Well, he did give that fucking rehash battlefield 1 a 9/10, so.....
BadLuckKlebitz High scores aren't given just because game is fun. You have to looks at the overall aspect. This probably have gotten 9 or 10 if the game was more explorable with less invisible walls. Granted I would've given BF1 an 8, but it really depends on individuals.
cjfunstuff did the witcher 3 come out 3 years ago?
SinnerJ yeah, I guess so. I still wouldn't have given battlefield even an 8 considering its main draw is multiplayer and eventually the servers will be shut down or hackers will ruin it, while you can always go back and play through a single player game like yakuza again.
He probably had more fun with witcher 3, even in 2017 no game can match witcher 3, the only game that can compete this year is red dead redemption 2 if it turns out good.
Holy shit if Joe and other Joe play this game together, does that make this the *other* Joe Joe's bizzare adventure?!?

YOU THOUGHT IT WAS JOE JOE's, BUT IT WAS ME: DIO!
I don’t care if a game isn’t open world but don’t have these huge open levels and then force you to stay on one narrow path of it
"Muh open world!" Typical Western gamers.
Also born in the early 90's and enjoyed a lot of linear games. Crash Bandicoot and Metal Gear Solid. Didn't play V yet but hate too many open spaces like Just Cause 2
Hey seriously, MGSV’s open design was made for different approaches to a mission.
Yeah, guys.
It should be open world, like No Man's Sky.
Did he really not like 6. I have not played it yet
This is what happens when you don't play a series in chronologically order.
They should have had something explaining what happened. Unless they just don't expect you to buy the game.

The sidequests in Yakuza are refreshingly fun and interesting compared to the ridiculously mundane shit they had me do in Final Fantasy XV.

Yes. 10/10 for me. The most fun on my PS4 to date!
Welcome aboard
This was my first Yakuza game, and now i need the rest of yakuza games in my life, or ill die! This game has ruined all the other games for me with lazy writing, voice acting and storytelling.
Welcome to the club then.
Since Yakuza (storywise) goes by numbers and keeps it simple (sequel of 0 is 1, sequel of 1 is 2 and so on, basically no crazy titles), its easy to follow everything from 0 to 6 (with the older Yakuza games being re-released for the PS4, just with "Yakuza 1" and "Yakuza 2" (both for the PS2) being called "Yakuza Kiwami" and "Yakuza Kiwami 2" for the PS4)
The rest of the series, while "just" spin-offs, i think you should give them a shot as well.
And if that is not enough "Yakuza" (or "Ryu ga Gotoku" in Japan), then, like at lot of us are doing, can wait for the next game called "Shin Ryu ga Gotoku" ("New Yakuza") which still has to be announced.
now kiwami's out
I want the samurai times yakuza to be translated ;-;
@Waterstar 0609 he was referring to western games.
Honestly, I have NO IDEA where joe is coming from in regards to the graphics. Game looks great to me, especially with faces in liquids.
He clearly stated that most character models looked great just the environments and objects looked last generation.

They are so well made with plenty of bang for your buck... Zero and Kiwami are both only $20 on Steam... and both are 30 hour games WITHOUT doing all the side stuff... if you are a competitionist... you are looking at 70+ hours EACH. These are games every gamer should play

I was on the fence too, but saw it was on sale on the PS4 store, so I bought it. I can honestly say that this game is amazing. I now cherish this series as much as dark souls, but for completely different reasons of course.
10/10 from me, kiwami was going to be 9/10 but I just can't help but love the majima everywhere system so it's a 10/10
I can’t wait for the Fist of the North Star game by Sega. I heard it’s gonna have Yakuza styles fighting, and I’m really hyped about it. The trailer really made me think of Yakuza.
Coming from a persona 5 avi? Now I know I shall cop.
The Japanese know what fuels and drives me
Always trust Joe to do a FULL review - not some 2 bit 4 minute ign or gamespot shit where they only say small things. Joe goes the FULL mile and tells you about the game. From the endless mini games, gameplay, story, graphics etc. Thats why Joe is number 1. And always will be.
ok? Im just complimenting the guy for doing a good review, or much better detailed reviews in general than others. So yeah what ever.
Somewhat of a downer you are, aren't you?
Seriously his reviews are generally amazing tbh
Is it fun to insult other people even though they haven't done anything to you?
lol xD
This game is one of the best games I ever played tbh I give it at least a 9.5
Glad you liked it
Daniel Gamboa I loved it man
Awesome
I agree and i have never played a yakuza game in my life until i picked up yakuza 0 :D
Yeah definetely!
Now THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE! Is content! Actual content! Not pointless, boring sidequest and repetitive collectibles!
Ollie Exactly, screw games like MGSV this is how games used to be
Name Noname I miss really fun side content and mini games like this! Not picking up the 100th flower to make ONE potion or doing some arbitrary side quests of mandatory connect the constellations in Dragon Age Inquisition. Yeah, the open world structure and side quests really hurt MGS V for me too. I passed on FFXV for the same reason.
Ollie ikr
Ollie unfortunately those boring sidequests take much less effort to make than actual good sidequests
plus they add more unnecessary gametime
...and here I was thinking that THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE! is a comment.
This game is beautiful. May not be the most advanced graphics by todays standards, but they are clean and tasteful. The 80s Japan setting is interesting, the combat is fun, the minigames are well made, the tone is balanced, the acting is great and the story is really good.
Great intro you did there btw!
Bruh this game is better than all the american releases of last year just because of the insane attention to detail
No
Aldin Vejzovic yes
Expert Gaming HD no
WINDEX GLASS CLEANER yes
Gt5 is so overrated in comparison to this game.
Proof that graphics aren't everything to make a great game.
Inb4 incoming angry mob of people who only cares about graphics.
Not really graphics, this game is more like art style, like borderlands, you cant compere these games with Witcher and BF1/CoD cuz there going for art style instead of "good graphics" or realism
But yeah graphics doesn't matter unless your Battlefield
RexXflash bruhhh borderlands is not shit, that's why it got game of the year and on steam its Overwhelmingly POSITIVE, and people liked the art style, like the Tall Tale series its not realistic and people like it.
Only entitled millennials that get mommy and daddy to buy their games care about graphics. I would gladly pop in Zelda a link to the past, Castlevania, or even Legend of the Dragoon. This is what happens when you don't discipline your kids.
Playing through this game right now, and my god its a masterpiece
Just finished it. Fucking awesome!
My favorite mission was protecting miracle johnson through a zombie horde music video shoot, directed by stephen spinning, director of the critically acclaimed A.T.
This is what happened when you get a hidden gem you're amused, It's like finding 20 bucks on the sidewalk.
1 million dollars*
Grant E What? I got that shit for 20
get a job and money isnt a problem
Finding this series was like winning the lottery for me.
this is what mafia3 could have been
ares106 It's also what the GTA series wants to be when it finally grows up.
Johnathon Haney No it isn't
Howya Doin Yeah it is. I compare GTA V in my mind to Yakuza 1 or 2 and it's like comparing a soapbox car to a Masseratti.
Johnathon Haney Oh my god, you are really dumb. You're comparing a shooter to a brawler. That's just really dumb.
Howya Doin I'm comparing a game that can tell a story (Yakuza) with a game that finally managed to get a non-cliche story going on the fifth try (GTA).
this review is making me want to pick up this game asap
Do it you Won't regret it!
Daniel Gamboa haha will do, had a tough week lol
jaydiz1994 did you buy it?
Did you get it?
Didju rike it?
Well, Angry Joe and Other Joe, as a Yakuza veteran, I welcome you to Kamurocho, the city that never sleeps where people want to fight you, everyone smokes, and cabaret clubs are like the best therapy sessions
0:15 Angryjoe's Anime opening starts here.
Other Joe is a real friend if he would dress like that for a video and dance in front of the camera. Respect.
domino2515 Amen, dude
domino2515 that's Joe's boyfriend.
Flevalt he wasn't waiting for anything , he has shown his body many many times already
domino2515 he's getting paid
Battlefield1 Hype was it really necessary for him to spread a fake rumor not even remotely true i don't think so unless he was just talk randomly then i would say yes , people usually thinks before they talk
the story, voice acting and writing was so fucking awesome, puts Western most games to shame
Kiryu's walking animation is amazing, I can watch him walk around for hours
me too man, i was tried to walk like that but its awkward lol
With jogging, it makes the game look lazy. With walking, you can see Kiryu turn his head to see something and some weird suit guys bothering him, and it makes you look more into the streets and love the lighting of the shops and places. This game has so much details when you slow it down.
What's this? A review? I haven't seen one of these since the great meme war of 2016! (joke)
Please leave.
Triggered Now are We Fruitsnack
don't listen to the ass below
Don't mention it!
Ohhhh God, the flashbacks, the memes, Vietcong, the cannons, make it stop!!
MAKE IT STOOOOPPPPPP!!!!
TenZEDin...........shit joke.....like totally a lot.
I just finished the game - fuck man the ending broke my heart :(
Without giving away major spoilers, the endings to Yakuza 1/Kiwami and 5 are even more heartbreaking in my honest opinion.
but majima tho - he deserves much better :(
Dark Naegi you should see 6.
TheRottweiler #SPOILERS ahead#
and it sucks that we wont be seeing makoto anymore, or makoto have any closure w majima in that matter. in the timeline of the upcoming yakuza 6 all the main characters are already in their 50s.
sigh

- Lewis
BrainScratch Commentaries I love the PS2 titles because I grew up with them and are still incredible with the PS2'S specs
Oh hi Lewis
They released a remastered version of the first game with Yakuza Kiwami. And Kiwami 2 releases in Japan next month I believe.
I am thinking about getting Yakuza 6 from Japan than Kiwami or even than 0, what do u guys think?
kenterminatedbygoogle I highly recommend playing the games in order, there's continuity with the story, and I can easily say imo the best story in gaming, with so many memorable characters, only one that comes close is naughty dog, but preference wise this series just inches above last of us for me.
The thing that got me into Yakuza was Majima singing 24 hour Cinderella lol. Passed all of them ,and now waiting for the release of Yakuza Like a Dragon to come out.
Now that thats been out for a few months, now im waiting on the sequel to Judgement coming soon
Yakusa 0 FTW!!!
It's way better then Mafia 3
I absolutely loved this game. Hidden gem, sleeping giant. Whatever you want to call it; if you haven't played Yakuza 0 then you're missing out.
Great Review Joe!
HappyConsoleGamer waiting for your review now
omg I love your channel :3
HappyConsoleGamer You know about yakuza, millennium?
I'm equally interested to hear your opinion of the game. :D
Just started playing it this morning, shit is fire. Gives me a series Yakuza anime vibe which is mad cool

Oi oi oi!
SUNAO NI I LOVE YOU
Ejwribodiii singggggggg!!
"I sing for you"
ending of the game got me crying ;(
You haven't played Majima's part of Kiwami 2 obviously.
@@Zhuravliov shit! Really! I'm starting kiwami 2 right now! Can't wait to see that! Zero is by far my favorite yakuza game, can't wait to see what kiwami 2's like😊
Don't forget to stock tissues. A LOT of tissues. You will need them. I can guarantee that.
The comment was written 2 years ago, Kiwami 2 wasn't out.... @@Zhuravliov
best part is, if you ever go to shinjuku(japan) you will recognise parts of the game.(yes even the hostess bars)
Not necessarily all of Shinjuku, it's specifically the Kabukicho area which is more Higashi Shinjuku/ Shinjuku Sanchome area.
Or dotonbori of course
“I’m now a fan of the series” *hasn’t played or reviewed any other game in the series since this one.*
what's your point? his schedule is already tight with other games, obviously, he's going to prioritize newer releases over the older games or remakes.
He doesn't have to review the other games to Like the series 💀
@@MatriXCh33Ze69 Has he played any other games in the series? I was expecting to see Kiwami reviews after this.
@@Irunts I think his point is Joe tends to be a bandwagon fan when he says that about most things.
@@JeffZ1028 you may have a point there...like him claiming that he's an XCOM veteran, but then it turns out that he's horrible
This is Sarkeesians pick for best game of 2017 !
lol
My inner asshat wants to Clockwork orange Sarkeesian every last second of lewd content this game has. But that would be giving in to it way too much.
Anita sarkeesian's power was destroyed when Hillary Clinton lost the election. down with the feminist movement. stop invading my games she is the new Jack Thompson of video games.
Lol Noo!
xGarrettThiefx she can fuck off ha
If you stare at naked joe's dancing you can see his hamster
AsciiGDL I know... idk why he didn't wear boxers under gross
AsciiGDL should uh...
Should we report the video for nudity or... I like really don't know... someone help...
I did think that it'd be possible but i didn't want to see it so i didn't check :D
I can't see it
AsciiGDL Don't put ideas in my mind.
See, this game is PROOF that graphics don't make the game fun.
William Morse
This game has the perfect graphical level for me
the face models look good put man every thing else look bad
Not true, kiddo. Everything isn't great looking but it's more than just face models looking good. It's a 1080p/60fps PS3 game that still looks better than other games on PS.
ArsenicSteel00
i said that the models look goood but every thing else looks meh
Said every player of every decent true roguelike.
For those who didn’t know, some of the characters are real life Japanese actors and their voices. This is same for every game.
Ozawa Hitoshi (Kuze)
Takeuchi Riki (Awano)
Nakano Hideo (Shibusawa)
Iura Arata (Tachibana)
Tsurumi Shingo (Sagawa)
That is true.
I think the reason they chose to use the actors' likeness in the game was becasue the characters they played were one-off characters who don't reoccur in the other titles, that's why other characters like Kiryu, Majima, Nishikiyama, and Shimano all look "unrealistically" human because they make appearances in the later entries.
That way the devs wouldn't have to rely on an actor's likeness aging in real life for the character.
am i crazy to rewatch this video over & over even though i had conpleted yakuza 0 five times?
Relatable
Yes.
Yeah
I'm doing the same thing rn after replaying 0, K1 and K2 on legend mode
hopefully his next review is RE7
DisturbingInternet X it is
he told everyone which games he was gonna review
Ali Atif thanks!
DisturbingInternet X Yakuza 0 > Resident Evil 7
Battle Royale I'm not into Japanese type games like these unless there horror
Well these types of games are really fun and better than most other games imo
Yakuza 1: good
Yakuza 2: great
Yakuza 3: ok
Yakuza 4: fkin amazing
Yakuza 5: fkin amazing
Yakuza 0: great
FACTS
Yakuza 6: FUCKING PERFECT......once you adjust to the new combat system
bigevilworldwide1 lmfao it was a decent game dude
Yakuza Kenzan: Ok
Yakuza Ishin: Fucking Amazing
Yakuza Legend of the Black Panther (or whatever the title of the PSP games translates as): Pretty damn good
Yakuza Kiwami: Its a better version of 1, but the added story bits, and improved combat (using 0's as a base) makes it a overall better game.
Couldn't give a shit about the graphics. Loved the game through and through. One of the if not the best game I've played in years. No glitches, no issues, no nothing. Got a teeny tiny bit tedious towards the end, but other than that it was a fun experience. Loved it
