Never in a million years while watching the Rambo review all those years ago did I see a universe where these guys not only survive as a studio, but actually make a good game!
U should check out their Terminator game, a true sequel imho and a great one at that.

It’s an incredible redemption story. From a crappy Rambo cash grab to an incredibly faithful version of Robocop
Eventually they’ll reach a level, after gaining all the goodwill from fans that they’ll ever have, that they will be approached by a AAA developer.

It was OK....Terminator Resistance wasn't amazing or anything....It was what you would get from Wish if your searched a discount, budget Fallout.

It's nice to see Joe relive his childhood 😂 but we've come a long way with Teyon, the rambo video game review from 2014 got me into watching angry joe back in high school.

AJ can be pretty full of himself and loves the focus on him so I'm glad to see everyone on the show grow over the years, early on it was often tough to watch AJ talk over OJ.

Wouldn’t be the same without any of these guys.. also I forgot the guys names that were with AJ for the game awards (sorry boys) but I was missing OJ and Alex, fortunately, those guys knew what they were talking about and after a bit they definitely grew on me. Movie-license games and video game movies are both FINALLY seeing good entries, and it’s because they’re getting people who actually like the properties to make them. There’s clearly passion in the Mario and Sonic movies, and games like this, Alien: Isolation, and Friday: The 13th just gush with tone and knowledge of the films in wish fulfillment of actually getting to engage in their worlds. Hope to see this treatment for Nightmare on Elm Street some day.
The Mario movie sucked but the two Sonic movies were great (here's hoping the third is also great!). But then you get absolute crap like the Borderlands movie.

Teyon may not make the most advanced games of the century, but their commitment to the source material and how well they expand upon it is admirable in itself.
If you've watched and enjoyed any of movies their games are based on, you will be delighted by how good their stories are. And the fact that they use good movies from each series, like they did with Terminator - as the base of the game they used Terminator 1 and 2 and avoided completely any sequels further down the line as they weren't really good and I myself don't consider them part of the Terminator canon.

Robocop getting paid in baby food is my new head canon. 😂 IDK why but the idea of Robocop having his preference for his favorite flavors of baby food just tickles my soul 🤣 (Also it does fit with the lore of his character being literally nothing more than human remains being held together via technology. He barely has enough of a digestive system left to absord any nutrients from food. Baby food would literally be the only "solid food" he could eat!)

Rogue City is the epitome of a good AA game. It really feels like you're playing through an 80s B-movie, which is the point. The only real flaw is the terrible dialogue but some would argue it fits the game.
I've only seen a lil of the game but the part where Robocop calls a drug dealer and the guy goes "oh fuck it's Robocop" its peak comedy 😂

honestly tho the dialog in the Robocop films was never really that good it was always cheesy.
even the whole "Alex Murphy battling for his soul and his humanity" deeper meaning stuff isn't really handled very well in either robocop 1 or 2 i actually think that the prime directives series did that so much better an that series was just outright forgotten.

Dialogue is not terrible though, at least most of it, some voice acting and junky animations undersell it, but script is often competent and humor lands.

That the problem. He used to review both lesser known and big IP games. But nowadays, seem like he just do lesser known, or bad games for his full review, while an actual big IP games that some of it are actually good, he just let Alex do it for RF review...Indeed, I miss the old Angry Joe, we all do...

One of my top 3 of 2023, easily. Unlike a lot of modern mainstream games, which are oversaturated with ambition and try to give you everything under the sun, Rogue City lived within it's means and tastefully restricted itself to delivering a limited but fun, entertaining, engaging, immersive, and action-packed experience. What a hidden gem this was. I had the dumbest grin on my face for a good 80% of my time spent on Rogue City. It's been a long time since a shooter, much less an action shooter, brought me this much joy. Glad Joe loved it too!
Their Terminator and Robocop games are a fair step up from the side scrollers I had on my C64.
So cool to see Teyon go from zero to hero, a tear to my eye.
It's been a good year for smaller devs making amazing games, hope we see more next year.

I think Cristopher Judge already did that for us.
I loved the game and actually laughed out loud on the cheesy one liners that were placed on purpose. Really felt like I was watching movies scenes regardless of the graphics.
Definitely my biggest surprise of the year. I had zero expectation, fully anticipating it ending up on 'worst of' lists. It's ended up being good to great, but most of all fun and true to the IP.
Never got around to Terminator, which apparently is also quite good. If Teyon keep this up they may very well end up making a true classic down the line. Will be keeping an eye out for what they do next!
If only more developers treated the source material with the same passion and respect as Teyon did for Robocop and Terminator...

If you had told me 5 years ago that the guys who made Rambo: The Video Game would make a better licensed game than the guys who made Batman: Arkham City, I would’ve laughed at you.
Then again, the actual devs who made the Arkham games at Rocksteady have long left the studio. At least Teyon is growing as a studio. I loved both Terminator Resistance and Robocop Rogue City, to the point where I may even say Robocop was my 2023 GOTY. It lacks the technical polish of a true AAA game, but the authenticity to the license and the fact that I love both Robocop and FPS/RPG hybrids makes this game right up my alley.
This is exactly the reason why even after all these years of watching this show I still love this channel and their creators.

The OJ Cinematic Universe is so diverse and keeps growing
This is my favourite game of 2023 -
It's so refreshing to be reminded that games can still be GAMES whilst catering to that nostalgia itch❤ I don't think I'm alone when I say this but as much as I love a serious story, games seem to have gone a bit too far with it and rogue city just takes me back to that better time when a game could be nice and simple, without needing a AAA budget and still be friggin' awesome.
TLOU2 for example, love it (I know it divided people) but even I question sometimes "is this TOO much for a game? Something that's supposed to be a fun past time and not traumatic" kinda thing
if I may interject, on a great game and great video review; many seem to forget that both the "Rambo" and "Robocop" books [along with "Starship Troopers"] were all written with the attitude of opposing the rising level of violence in both media and the world...
This is probably the most passionate and funny reviews I've seen from you guys, I really loved this and every sketch landed perfectly. Thanks for the great content this was really enjoyable

TGA 2023 was a joke. They completely ditched Hogwarts Legacy too.

TGA has no idea about reality. The "strategy gamer" award category was an absolute joke. None of the games would classify as strategy games even under the most generous of estimations, and none of the streamers had anything to do with strategy games. Quill18 or Marbozir or someone like that should've won.
Tga is a circle jerk to keep money in the studios and companies for advertising reasons. You can watch a ten minute dance but the actual developers get 30 seconds of speech if there lucky. Tga has been rigged for years now.

To be fair, he did heavily criticize the voice acting and the look of the character models which is a huge thing that brings immersion to a movie licensed game.
This is just as good as the Rambo review 10 years ago! The skits are 15/10!

My one of my first videos I watched from Joe was the Rambo review. I remember me and my brother just lost it when Joe angrily shouted “CMON COMRADE HE’S A MAN NOT A GOD!” 😂 ahhhh that was so many years ago, this game is definitely a far cry from that, thanks for a the years man 🥲
They made Rambo, Terminator, and now they should do Die Hard next to complete the big three of the 80s action era

I love how you guys play games together and pass the controller around on death, I’ve noticed that in a few other videos too. You guys really have nailed the formula of video game reviews with the live commentary during gameplay scenes plus the main commentary from Joe mixed with the great skits and then some video references mixed in, you really got all the secret herbs and spices for the formula! Another great review in the bag!

I worked a convention a few years back and I got to work with Peter Weller's team, I was so geeked out and he was so chilled & polite. Even got to speak to him about him playing Batman in The Dark Knight Returns. A great weekend all in all, fun times
Robocop: Rogue City was very good for what it was. Tons of content. Consistently felt like "Robocop" imo, as opposed to some sort of generic shooter.

I’ve a lingering suspicion that Joe played a huge role in turning around Teyon as a company. His Rambo rant gave them severe PTSD and sent them to therapy, and here we are now with a brand new Teyon

On the difficulty below the hardest one: the robot fight, requires you to run and throw staff at him, i saw how youtubers/guys wasted literally hour on him, when you can finish him in like 3-7 minutes, basically throwing bike/flameables at him, i almost didn't use the pistol on him. There is sniper rifle and machine gun, but they barely make a dent on him, so throwing things was probably the intended way to play the boss. And finding time between using healing and his breaking points.
These are the Angry Joe reviews I come here for sure I love seeing him rip bad games or get a read on what just came out but this is a review I know Joe was gonna push out no matter what and a month later it's here and I love it. This is true content

The terminator game got a rerelease on xbox [don't know about other systems] recently, you could give it a very late review so you can see how they progressed from Rambo to this.
