    I have to remove my motor's main power and sensor cable just to replace the axle bearing on that side due to the too big connector on the end of that cable. Watching your work really helps me see what's required to get that done. Great video as always!

    Leaving stubs of the old wires is a great way to get the colour coding right when fitting a new cable. Alternatively take a photo with your phone, and refer to the photo when reassembling.
    I have found it helpful to solder the phase wires of the new cable to a single wire, pass the single wire through the axle then use it to pull the new cable through... it helps to get the cable round the tight bend where it exits the axle.
    Thanks for the video..

    Could you reccomend a display / controller combo for a 750w rear bafang 48v please?
    I got on ebay:
    Ebike 36V/48V 750W/1000W 26A/30A 3 Mode Sine Wave Controller + S866 Display Set
    but when I connect up as soon as switch the battery on the back wheel spins for half a second then stops, when I switch the display on there is no life from the motor either PAS or throttle.
    Controller fault or my wiring? I got the 30amp controller, is it too powerful for the 750?

    • @EbikeRepairs
      @EbikeRepairs  9 місяців тому

      That's for the donation! I'd recommend the KT 20a or 25a controller, the KT LCD 8 colour screen.

    • @EbikeRepairs
      @EbikeRepairs  9 місяців тому +1

      Sounds like wiring is wrong, disconnect pas and throttle and see if it still moves, then try the walk assist holding down button on display.
      Make sure the self learn wires are not plugged in (white + white single wires or green single wires that go back into controller)
      Also the 30a is too high for controller, 50v* 20 amps is already 1000 watts peak so 30amps will get melty

      @utubeape 9 місяців тому

      @@EbikeRepairs Thanks, I got a new controller, the 26A version. It works, it operates the motor via the throttle but no PAS. I bought a new PAS which is the pedal crank type, still nothing. The wires were different colours so I cut off the plug male and femal and wired every combination, but still nothing. Its not the end of the world to have the bike throttle only but not good especially if stopped (though the throttle lever is small and discrete.

      I think I soldered the traces with a jumper cable.

  • @MrTimmmers
    @MrTimmmers Рік тому +3

    I found that since you're cutting the new cable end off you may as well get a much longer on, it's a difference of 1 or 2 quid, then you can use the cable left at the other end to test your controller without dismantling anything. I haven't done much soldering for years so I used a bit of the ample spare to practice on. I found it easier to loosen the screws while on the bike and nice and held still.

    • @kaygerry

      They did, it's to prevent tension on the other end pulling the solder joints off the board with the wires. Silicone should probably be added back into the end to prevent it being ripped out by accident.
