I think this true of most fighters. The get better and better technically as long as they keep training but their athleticism starts to decline making it more difficult to actually compete.
I think not professionally competing is why he is a lot better. When you compete, it's an extremely grueling process like weight cut, hard sparring, overtraining, dehydration, diet, and so much more. If you combine all of this, the longevity of a fighter will dramatically decrease. Jeff, while not a professional fighter, is a full-time coach and a phenomenal athlete. He gets all the benefits of training without "that grueling process" which prolongs his longevity, well-being and brain cells, of course. Being a full-time takes immense guts, talents, hard work and sacrifices.
I'm aiming for a muay thai amateur and I'm basically using your channel as another coach. My head movement isn't stellar but I can mimic the double step low kick long guard style well enough and feel like its my favorite version. Your content is perfect for how I like to spar (long guard supports my karate background). Thanks!
Cross has more slight hip rotation into the punch head slightly offline. A straight I was taught via JKD to fire them rapidly via straight blast with footwork or you snap a single feint straight and change the line to a kick or Wing Chun techniques mixed with boxing footwork and head movement. 🏹🦾🗡️🥊🥊
I don't turn my feet anymore like that because I actually sprained my ankle and if your opponent surprises you and you have to make a last minute adjustment you're more off balance than you should be and personally I already currently generate enough power.
It's interesting that, when you use to to counter, you reset your stance easily. However when you use it to cross distance, you have to use head movement and footwork to avoid being countered if your opponent gets a read on your head position. Pros & cons
Attaboy! Breaking it down! Ever had a newcomer with the thumb inside the fist? I have 😂. I need to get caught up on the good stuff. Work got in the way! I love these basics, useful and very well done.
Aren’t you setting yourself up to be counter punched? When you take your head off center, your opponent can land an overhand right and your head will be right there in the perfect position
Bruh how are you better semi-retired than when you were active? You're incredible
Thanks man!

More like this plz. I have the punch and mechanics but realized that my head was going too centerline.
Definitely !
Really interesting. This rule is actually so old. In ancient Greek vase painting, there were Pankration athletes punching exactly this way!
Cheers!
The knowledge of Gil is on another level 👍🏼💯🔥
Best digital coach!

The cross that beats all crosses
:)
I have a circle mf
I would just say how to throw a cross vs a straight punch. both have their purpose and slightly different forms.
Fair, I just used this as a title haha
What's the difference?

I love these shorts technique videos!
I appreciate the feedback!!!

At last I finally understand! The positioning of the head was a missing step!
One of my trainers told me the exact same tips. I am a 194 cm tall guy, and I did not use my range effectively, because I did not turn properly.
Reach is everything !!

Thank u so much for this
No prob!
Tip four watch tony bellew and usyk for text book punching

Jeff what if the opponent has a mindset coach? will it still work?

Thank you!!!
Haha I’ve seen it but thankfully not hitting pads or any hard hitting !
Have had this as well, but it was coaching women. Most men know how to make a fist atleast
This is the only comment made by an actual human
Lies
"OOOOOOOh Weeeeeee"
Haha
Almost like an overhand
This doesnt work too well in boxing where you dont also have to worry about getting kicked, elbowed or grabbed.
Where’s the sweater from Jeff??
Glory martial arts center

i always find it difficukt to throw a good cross in a spar
Try head off centerline it will be a lot easier !
@@MMAShredded I'm very very honored for this reply, thank you so mich for the respoonse 🗻
This for boxing as well?
I am no boxing expert so I’m not sure! But definitely for MMA where the distance is much longer

My default jab is Karate chuki 😂
I like pickled pineapple
Don't turn yo head like he does eyes forward at all time
Isn't this over committing on a cross? Seems open for a check hook
Yes I overcommit on my cross a lot, it’s okay as long as you have an exit plan!
