@@MMAShredded For whatever reason your switch kick step reminds me of Ramon Dekkers. He also stepped out before pivoting. For the longest time I used to be the "step straight forward" guy. I would end up off balance a lot, especially when throwing a high kick.
Surprisingly not many coaches teach that step through lead leg kick. I love that one. I use it to close the distance and load up a leg kick, power teep, body kick, head kick, or even sneaky sidekick up the middle.
In taekwondo these are two separate techniques. One is called a switch stance round kick and the other is a scissor step round kick. In taekwondo, you'll use that switch stance round kick to bait a reaction and if your opponent doesn't respond with an attack you fire the rear leg round kick. If they DO react with their own attack (usually a round KICK to the body) the person who baited with the switch stance will throw back kick to the body or hook kick to the head in response.
@@MMAShredded for sure mahn your videos is the most technical and practical MMA techniques EVERYTIME I see a video I almost learn something alhamdullilah keep it going 💯💯
So let me get this straight it’s better to be in a more tall upright stance for throwing kicks rather than being more bladed sideways and having a low center of gravity meaning you bend your knees a lot while in your stance because I noticed it’s way harder to throw a switch kick from a bladed stance it’s almost impossible actually I say this because Thai Fighters mostly stand straight up they really don’t bend their knees like boxers do
I don' fight anymore, because the pay is not enough for the risks and sacrifices I need to make. However, I do love the sport and I love sparring so al I can do is be an evasive guy, lots of footwork and head movement and I try to do technical sparring 80% of the times
That looks so different to how I've been taught in Thai boxing, feet at ten to 2 with the switch how I always do it. Maybe it's more of an MMA thing. I know they styles of fighting are alot more bouncy in MMA. Sparred quite a few MMA guys
Exactly what I needed to practice, thanks Jeff!
no prob :)
@MMAShredded u just blew my mind too with that second tip😭
Good point, switch with the right leg slightly outside your opponent to kick through them.
cheers!
The contained laugh of your mate filming when you did the wrong one on purpose 😂 Thanks for this Jeff I always learn something new.
:) :P
I heard a snort too. LOL.
Yo i was not expecting your leg to twist that much when you stepped to the outside 😭 I almost spit out my drink
LOL! it doesn't always have to be that much , I am exaggerating more to make it very clear in the instructions!
@@MMAShreddedmy mcl I sprained last week hurt watching it

If you guys want to study switch kick,i would recommend buakaw. Just my opinion tho
I agree 100%, I learned my switch kick from watching him!
@@MMAShredded i remember being a die hard buakaw fan and watching your "10 tactics used by buakaw", it was very helpful

What you stated is a sporting use case. For practical usage outside of TKD competition, it does not make sense to bait a kick in this way
@@wellhello2828 it has a place. It's all about how it's applied.

Ooweee for +30 damaged
haha!
COME TO TORONTOOOOO to do a seminar pls!
one day!!!
That first one looks so comical. I hope no one thinks that's a switch kick. lmao!
hahaha
You don't have to switch just to kick with your lead leg there's still a way to load that front leg for a powerful kick
nice🔧🔥
thx!

I never could switch well. Im such a plodder.
Where do you coach at?
Can't the guy kick the side of the right knee when switching?
Exellent 👍👍👍
thanks!!
Basically, by default, soccer players should be able to fight muay thai kickboxing

Serious question: how do you cope with the risk of getting brain damage by the sparring and fights?

Aren't you telegraphing the kick too much? Lots of fighters rather kick less hard and land a surprise kick.
Is this for left legged people?
Reminds me of Tawanchai, he uses the same footwork technique 😎👍
Why do you lean so much on the side, instead of staying upright?
I prefer to keep my face further away from target
Great
Thx!!

I disagree...if you are on a surf board...and another man is surfing on a surf board beside you and flips you off....
Bad taekwondo habits. My Muay Thai instructor worked with me alot to rid of that
