Nice video@Exploring Jeeps, thanks for posting!
Great video. Liked and subscribed.
Ordering mine soon. Just got my JL. Lift and tires also front rear bumper. Then just wait on my Ursa. Man that box is big!
That is awesome. Congrats! Yeah that box was huge. It took us a while to figure out how to get that thing out of the trailer without a fork lift. It was a fun project though. Glad I did it.
Hey thanks for reply buddy! I’m so psyched. It’s Sunday so they are closed today. Going to try first thing in the morning to call Ursa Minor company their time. You know I had ordered the Alu Cab few days ago and it was on my mind constantly. It was on my mind because I really wanted the Ursa Minor. My wife said get what you really want which was Ursa. I called and cancelled my Alu Cab immediately and now I’m waiting impatiently to call tomorrow and get on the Ursa Minor list. Your video really was helpful in a way where I’m probably not going to install but have it delivered to the “The truck shop” out in West Sayville, NY (Long Island, in business for 60-70 years passed down from father to son.) They’re a Great shop and have great mechanics working there. I’ve dealt with them for years as I have owned my first Jeep 2010 Jk sport. I’m scheduled to go in to the shop Aug 15th for my lift, tires, rims, front and rear bumper with tire carrier on my new JL. I’m great with my hands all my life but getting older now so I’ve decided to let them handle the install of Ursa Minor and just have it done for me. Thanks again on a great video!
Mr.Poseidon Did you order and if so how long was the wait from order/deposit until it arrived? And how much was transit and the camper?
$7-11k USD is a lot for a 2 person roof tent. That would be $9-14k plus 13% tax for me here in Canuckistan. The top is intriguing but too expensive.
Yet they sell these things like candy.
I've never seen one in my area but it's a lot different around here than say, the mid west. I just can't justify the cost/use ratio for myself. Guys like Chris over on Venture4wd can because he lives in it... most of the time. :)
I noticed you have a awning attached, does the top come with the attachment points built in or did you have to put a bolt through the top yourself?
Greg Macklem, The top can be purchased with the awning brackets. I would highly recommend getting them done from the factory. I think if I could do it all over again, I would definitely have gotten them from Ursa Minor. I probably would have gone with the roof rack option and had the top painted too.
Great video! Quick question, if set up with a winch how feasible would it be to remove the Ursa Minor? If you wanted a topless Jeep for a bit? We just rented a JKUR in Montana with a Ursa Minor and loved it! We actually slept 4, 2 upstairs 2 downstairs👍🏼
Kirk189 Yes, it is totally possible. What you would need to do though is get a harness that supports the front also. It is very front heavy. When you install it too, you need to put the adhesive foam on the top and not on the jeep. Then it all comes off clean. I would say it would take about 20 minutes with a winch and a good setup.
Seems I had my pos and neg wired into my tow light … and now for the life of me can’t get the upper brake light to work after wiring it to my tail light positive to purp neg to black and white to grey stripe… tail lights work even put some others on their so it’s not the wire from what I can tell? Maybe I jus need to swap out the light.
How well built are those back sliding windows? Any issues with water getting up into the tent with pressure washing it when you go to the car wash? I plan on ordering mine soon so i dont have to think about the wait when the time comes! Thanks
They are better than I expected. They are good for allowing airflow for a dog, or for making the top opening easier(think Bellows). I have sprayed them down at the local self wash with no issues at all.
How does the Ursa Minor connect up front? Does it have latch’s like the freedom panel? If so does it use the stock brackets?
It has two bolts(one on each side) that bolt up through the roll bar near the A pillar. It seems pretty secure, even off road.
does it leak any water into the cab after installing it? must it flip upwards from the rear or can it flip up front from front? or is it specified? could you make a video about how it opens, the interior space and how it folds back down?
We didn't have any water leaks into the cab or in the tent. It can't be flipped around in its normal use. Maybe you could ask them to build one that is reversed.
@@ExploringJeeps cool thanks!
What is the change in gas mileage with this top compared to the stock top? Does anyone know?
Not being disrespectful but with all the items we carry for overlanding or camping; and Jeep modifications; is this really a relevant question though?
@@jackcls550 Its relevant because the makers Ursa Minor, make mention of it (no change in mpg) on their site. If it was irrelevant they would not have mentioned it. Thus my question eludes to whether or not the stated claim is the truth, and if not, how much different of gas mileage is it.
if you can afford the top ,,, you can afford the gas. if you can't ,,, you can't
shurppa64 With respect, the question has nothing to do with money, it’s one of efficiency.
@@lorenza2589 what do you think will happen when you add weight and size to a jeep or any other car. Duh!
I love this but it's just too expensive for my budget.
