Still remember when you ran the silver state. I'm 61, knew you sounded familiar. Cut my teeth on 5 liter ford's. Then we graduated, build a junkyard 351 Windsor!! Cheap junk. 040 over flat top Windsor with a hundred shot of gas. Had 2 scratches on the block where the distributor went into the block for timing. Realized 100 wasn't enough to worry bout! Had so much fun with that motor. Then things got crazy! Yates heads, motorsports blocks. Yes they were wicked fast. The old motor we had is still on possession of the guy we sold it to. Love ur vidieos, but, to all you guess that watching, just get something you can afford and have fun. Don't wait till you can afford the expensive parts, just have some fon, trust me, it's just as much fun!!
Some of the turbo kits on eBay are amazing and make lots of powerful I’d definitely run one
Amazing karate chop motion
I love the small block ford stuff hope to see more of it;)
Keep the videos comeing thanks guys.
Bigger cam dished pistons and all the fuel at 110 octane. Put 26lbs of boost on her. She'll be just fine. That's what I run in my fox and I daily drive and drag her. Also stock block with ported iron heads.
I love this guy
I would have like to have see more info on this.. octane, injectors, timing curve, even how much vacuum it pulls at idle and compression ratio, etc. good numbers but there is more to the story....
they can't tell their secrets
watch his other videos, he goes into more details
It’s not going to survive long in that configuration.
Richard, What were the specs on the turbo?
How much timing did you pull per pond of boost?
Hello. What is the blue print head model number used in this video? Thank you
What heads were on the block
Would you consider doing a 351,my truck is a roller motor and want to use it in a fox body
If you could what manual gear box could be run behind this set up
doing this to my 65 mustang
Have a ‘94 5.0 stock stroke/4.030, EFI Explorer intake 75MM MAF/75MM intake 30lb injectors, ‘70 351 iron heads, Shorty’s, CompCams X3258HR-12: custom tune in an OBS Bronco. Not enough power, considering aluminum heads, stroked crankshaft to 347? Not sure if I should add a turbo??
Will the Comp Cam work with stock Pistons piston the valve clearance and with what rocker arms 1.6 or 1.7
This is my build for the z4.... hope........
I am working on the same thing for my 89 f150 5.0l.
91 Econoline here but with centrifugal. @ 6 psi hopefully. lol Hey do you have dual tanks? my NA build 306 is similar NA power to this and I was probably fine with 160 LPH high pressure in line pump after the selector valve reservoir but now at the potential power I need 255 LPH + I have an adjustable regulator.. various injectors and such.. but my main question is like... with those two low pressure in tank pumps I'm wondering if you only need to change the high pressure one to a 255 and it just sucks more fuel from the reservoir.. so really the reservoir capacity is the question I guess.
Gonna throw this exact setup in my 92 bronco custom
Didn't know mr clean knows how to make hp
Can you use that cam will it fit on a stock 302 roller short block piston the valve clearance Comp cams 274 HR
Hey everyone I am new to this I am trying to do a budget build on my 96f150 with the 5l I have to do an engine rebuild first but wondering if I can get some ideas on the best cam to put in it and I was thinking of doing a twin turbo setup I dnt want an expensive set up I am lifting the truck it is 4x4 I am putting 37x13.35x24 on it so I need just a little more power like I said this would be my first time doing this just trying to reach out on what I can get for my truck and is there any turbo manifold out there or do I have to retro fit anything will help with thanks
What kind of power can I expect with iron heads? I have a simelar if not exactly the same camshaft.
DANIEL RICKEL You will loose power if you put that cam on stock iron heads they will go turbulent that cam is too aggressive for your engine
What sort of compression numbers would you want to run on one of these turbo combinations?
depending upon fuel you can access (E85, etc), you won't want to run more than 9:1CR if you are using pump gas. The aluminum heads generally allow 1 point of compression higher than a cast iron. They usually have a better combustion chamber design, that helps as well.
Also, the ford has 4 bolts around each cylinder holding the head on, so its more likely to blow out the head gasket before it eats a piston than a first gen Chevy with 5 bolts holding everything in place
:)
what heads were used
Does he have to make hand gestures the entire time he talks?
1:14 to start
If you gesticulate any harder, you're going to go air airborne.
🤣 Jesus man. I came to the comment section specifically to see if it was just me, but then I came across your comment 🤣
Would the 5.0 with a 363 stroker kit be okay to boost?
anything over 347 cid is the non OEM block, typically the Dart 363 block. It'll handle a lot of boost.
WTF that much power N/A stock configuration? Jesus. You had to have a tune?!?! Did you? I'm building a 5.0 for my mountaineer and am shooting for 300hp w/o a tune. gt40p induction setup but will definitely replace the toilet worthy factory cam. The cam in this video is reallllyyy on the edge for being computer controlled friendly. Yall have amazing products by the way, AND affordable.
LOL you can make mid to high 300s with a under .500 cam. flat tappet.
Thanks for all the false information, and the fact that you did it in sign language was even better... it's not hp/torque that splits the block it's the combination of rpm and harmonics a motor that's balanced +/- as close to perfect will actually take alot of abuse!
Actually the correct damper is also essential.
Everybody overlooks the simple things.
@@hotrodray6802 the correct harmonic balancer/damper is a must have.. without question
A nice girdle, proper hardware & a spot on tune helps a lot too
@@GreatValueJohnnySins girdles are debatable... I know some engine builders who say they actually promote cap walk
@@jasoncole5020 I agree. The weakness is primarily at the lifter valley, not the caps.
Can I tell me exactly all the parts and info used
This engine, all its upgrades, naturally aspirated nd turbocharged are covered in much more depth on richard holdener’s youtube channel
It would be great for you you to get to the point.
It could make way more
Of course it will but you'll crack the block.
That’s a myth, with the right internals assembly or even a stock bottom end I seen them go over 700hp now in days.
Maybe it will crack maybe it wont. I've heard very experienced engine builders say it so there has to be some truth behind it somehwere and I dont want to find out the hard way as I have one of these older windsor 5.0 blocks I'm about to build. I'd rather not dump thousands of dollars into a block that may fail. If you've got that kind of money and want that kind of hp you might as well buy a beefier dart block that you know can handle the horsepower.
680rwhp going on 2 yrs now with only a dss girdle and innovators west balancer!
@@bigboreracing356 I have a big bore dart in my personal car. This was a car for my son and he wasn't ready for a dart based motor yet!!! Dart shp is by far the superior block!
We have 6 cars altogether and yes he can handle it but we aren't trying to make stupid power. This car has a.c. and heat and runs low 6 second eighth mile passes all day. No need for it to be any faster at the moment. It has great drivability and the cruise works.
Yes I agree the sbf production blocks are junk. I have built and seen so many stock block chevrolet dominate also. My personal car has a dart 351w based stroker and a couple of kits. It gets it done.
@@bigboreracing356 so.. should we get dart blocks
Stop! Let the motor do the talking....Please!
I didn’t listen at all, put him on mute and just watched him sign the whole speech. Rather excellent 🖐 🤚 jive! , but can you rub your head and pat your stomach?
Do you talk like that in real life?
Oh loo0k more misinformation on the 5.0 block! detonation and not enough valve spring pressure are what hurts these blocks. not power level.
so sick of hearing this b/S
I am proof of this 3 different 5.0 production blocks. two of them with the stock reciprocating assembly.
18 + POUNDS OF BOOST. And occasionally more , and i have never hurt a block. lifted the heads quiet a few times but never even a hiccup.. 580 plus wheel horsepower. quit with the misinformation guys
It’s like people don’t like NOS because they don’t put the right tune and of course it’s going to destroy your engine. Proper fuel pressure, spark plugs, ignition timing, and proper chassis set up car will be fun street car! Yeah detonation will destroy any short block.
Yeah, no shit! I’m running the Motorsport 9.5 deck, 4.125 bore with the Cleveland main.
@@bigboreracing356 why would I run a procharger when I had a turbo.
Ya because everyone has 8 grand for a block and aftermarket reciprocating assemblies . Jstfu
@@bigboreracing356 ya I just got lucky with 3 blocks and many others that are upwards on 600 rwhp on stock block's.
Detonation and valve spring pressure are what kills them. Oh and did I mention I never ran a girdle.💪
@@bigboreracing356 🤣🤣🤣 proves you don't know what your talking about . I made 580 rwhp 620 torque on a stock block .. maybe go check out the stock block cars before talking shit 🤣
Wow that was really dissapointing
aaaaaaaaaand thats why God made the LS . ;) lol Good test Rich.
Annnnnnnd there's idiots like u out there who are comparing a block that hasnt changed since it was born in the 60's compared to the LS that was born in 97. SMH.
Too bad god wasn't nice enough to give you a brain
@@jasoncole5020 ohh really, im not the dumb ass thats comparing a 50yr old block design to a modern era block. Get educated dumb boy. SMH
@@jasonwalls1277 Smh.. I wasn't talking to you ya silly ass... I was talking to the LS nut jockey
Ls motors are great if your too stupid to actually build anything
Ford junk
