Another thing that it has over Groudon that it's only other rain setter is Pelliper, Toad takes the shaft a lot, while their are four sun setters in Koraidon who has surpassed Groudon, the previous king of the sun, Torkoal and Ninetails. This Kyogre more time to shine then anything else
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tera Water Kyogre Water Spout (150 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Blissey in Rain: 524-618 (73.3 - 86.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO. All that needs to be said about kyogre
I love how the only reason kyogre wasnt as good in gen 6/7 was because primal groudon existed, and even tho primal kyogre was there, groudon just had the more favorable matchup
Even with this, I think it’s mostly because of Water spout tail wind. If you built Kyogre to be slower than Groudon, Primordial sea is there and Groudon is 4x weak to water.
It's not just that tbh. Groudon did not only keep Kyogre in check a bit, he also kept in check Xerneas who was a PLAGUE ever since he arrived in this series. Xerneas's existence is 50% of the reason why Groudon is considered that good, because that monster is also THAT good and you NEED fat answers to it. And it gets even worse with Necrozma after that, where you want Groudon again. And then Miraidon ...
For Kyogre to ever stop being good would basically require Drizzle to become unviable, because I see no world where it stops being the best rain setter in the game.
Kyogre remains my favorite Pokemon of all time, and to know that it remains the GOAT of Ubers and competitive Pokemon overall is honestly super awesome :)
Kyogre, 150 Sp. Attack + Rain + STAB Water Spout Unfortunately there is no fire type with 150 Sp. Attack + Sun + STAB Eruption, only Torkoal with 85 Sp. Attack (but I guess 65 Sp. Attack is the price to pay for not being a restricted Pokemon)
@@jmcbango a fire ground pokemon that negates water moves and can hit a 120 base power move to both pokemon with a 180 base attack stat seems kinda broken to me
I imagine water type pokemon in general would not be nearly as good if they didn't all learn ice type moves. It seems like bad game design that there's only 3 types that resist water (grass, water, dragon), and 2 of those types are weak to ice, and ALL of them are weak to freeze dry. IMO the only water type pokemon that should have ice beam/blizzard are pokemon that are also ice type like Lapras.
Some non-Ice Water-types could still make sense with Ice coverage, like Suicune, Kingdra, and technically Seel and Shellder (though those two evolve into Ice-types, so I'm not sure if they really count). What really is strange are tropical/warm water Water-types getting Ice coverage, like Primarina, Milotic, Pelipper, Toxapex, etc etc.
If we're going to add a water resist to any type i personally think the Ice type deserves it the most. To give one of the worst defensive types in the game a potentially useful niche and just a nice overall buff for all ice types, mono or dual and logically it wouldn't be that much of a stretch if any. So the change in interaction is easily justifiable. If we're giving water an extra weakness though, then i'm definitely on board with Poison being one of if not the top candidate. I personally have hopes that Gen 10 might be used to make various fundamental changes to pokemon to set a new baseline for the next generations to come, somewhat similar to what Gen 5 arguably did.
1 more weakness for water is fair (water being weak to poison is great, fits thematically and is a deserved buff + nerf). 1 more type resisting water is also very needed, as only grass, dragon, and water resist water, and all three are weak to freeze dry. Ice resisting (or even being immune) to water attacks is great! Also makes sense thematically and is another great buff and nerf combo.

I remember my Kyogre blasting off 75% off of AV Regice 💀
And now it also has tera water so add another 50%

It's quite simple, really. Getting slapped by a fish hurts.
One of the few instance were raw power actually makes a mon good
I always preferred Groudon, but Kyogre is the God of the Ocean and will always clap when it returns.

Then rock types should stop getting ground move. This change would destroy boltbeam and edgequake
@@zacmayes2802 I agree with that. It should be rare for a rock type to get EQ and a ground type to get stone edge.

Water imo needs a small nerf maybe being weak to poison or have poison at least resist it.
