@@ShellySavesTheDay Let me recap you said: start with a vertical vid in App Review, flip sideway and edit as usual. Then export (to your desktop i.e.), rotate back to upright position, then upload to UA-cam? I did that and it didn't work. What went wrong?

The first video I laid down is definitely a portrait video, but when I go to crop it, I'm only presented with a _landscape_ crop box that horizontal vid. What the heck? Thanks.
Hi Shelly, very nice video! I thank you so much. I’ve been creating videos for a few years now, and for various reasons have stuck with iMovie for my editing. Maybe not the greatest, but it gets the job done for me and I have too many other learning curves to worry about. Quick question on your resizing reformatting information here. If I want to use the video or part of the video as a short, will the aspect ratio etc. be correct for that? I’m a little confused and I do notice that some of my videos get cropped very unpleasantly when I make them into a short. Thanks taking my question 😊

One question but it it shows I have app preview but it doesn’t allow me to click it it shows like is invisible but I can’t click it
took me 9 hours to find this video and fix it thank you so much. god its 2021 and imovie doesnt even have basic features lol. i still want to know why i movie doesnt sync the import with the timeline.
You can go to a horizontal edit, choose from the much bigger range of subtitles, copy it from the editing line, go back to you vertical editing page, and paste it there - make sure you use the command bar above for copying and pasting instead of ctrl+c / v. That'll work!

If you start out with a landscape video and then insert a vertical video like you did, how do you flip those vertical videos after editing the whole thing?

Is anyone else having the issue of the audio distorting once uploaded into app preview? At first, it sounded distorted, then imovie fixed it by itself. Then I went back to my other projects, came back to the app preview and it's distorted again. I'm confused. :/ and it's a singer cover, so I need the quality to sound nice

Hi! I followed your instructions and it looks OK in QuickTime but the video still includes the black bars once I uploaded to UA-cam. Any more recommendations? Truly love you video!
I have exactly the same problem.
@@petraeunjoo so I learned over the past year- film horizontal only for long movies. Film only in vertical for shorts and you’ll be good! Good luck with your channel! Xo Dolly & Millie

@@ShellySavesTheDay Couldn't figure it out. Had to video on its side in landscape and then used a separate app to flip it back up to portrait. I even got on the phone with a senior advisor from the Creative Media team last week, and we concluded it must not actually be possible. Are you able to it here in 2023?
If you added a title, the title still goes vertical :(

Hey Shelly! So the first time I tried this, when I rotated the video to the left it worked. However, the second time around now i'm getting the black bars even on the crop and rotate, I can't figure out what's going on now? HELP!
