Nice video, but why didn't this work for me? I followed your instructions to the letter. I imported a horizontal formatted video in "My Preview" and when I tried to share the only options for resolution were in horizontal format. When rendered it was 1920x886. Any ideas? Thank you
I'll answer my own question. I don't know why this didn't work the way you showed in your video. But I found that if i put a 1080x1920 photo or video as the first imported media in the project then the App Preview will work as it's supposed to. Strange.
Hey! Thanks for the vids. Do you know if there is a way you can increase the size of the video area you’re actually working on? Like say for instance I’m on my iPhone, and in portrait mode (as want to make for tiktok) I have a really small area to work with, say for instance I want to do ‘picture in picture’, I have to be really precise with my fingers. There’s like a big grey area under the video, seems pointless, can you extend the video area into this? I’m debating getting a bigger phone but wondering if you can just extend the area you’re working on. Hope this makes sense. Thank you
Yes it's really difficult! I have fat man hands myself. For picture in picture I would recommend editing on Laptop or iPad. I have yet to have a good time trying to resize the screen and make it bigger to edit effectively with the phone
Wow, Apple is like that car in the country that is slowly rusting away to nothing. 90% of content being watched is short form, and Apple’s over here like, “but 720p Brah.”
anyone else having trouble uploading? i took the video to my desktop and airdropped to my phone and the video wouldn't work, only the audio. i then tried to post the video to my instagram from my computer and it says the file cannot be read by my browser great video by the way!
There is. Unfortunately iMovie is still your basic “free” software. I use Adobe premiere pro and Apple Final Cut Pro depending on the client. Those editing apps have the crop and resize feature that’ll be used for every platform and version you could ever think of
Nailed it on explaining this, thank you. Had seen other videos that mention the same ideas; but explain them poorly, so I was left confused.

Really cool. I assume you can get the bulk of the video done in movie.. then import into tiktok for effects and stuff too. COOL
Thanks so much!!!

@@jordanmorrison thank you, ok I’ll get going on the laptop 😀
Can I change the black bars on the sides to the video itself but blurred?
Sure! You'll need to have 2 layers of video on the timeline. Just "blur" the bottom layer and keep the top video layer crisp and clear
How can you nudge audio? Option click + > doesn't work for some reason...
Thanks,However, iPhone iMovie does not support

Thanks! I really don’t like capcut
What's the time limit for tik Tok ?
I always shoot for less than 90 seconds
Can Imovie make FHD Portrait video 60FPS?
anyone else having trouble uploading? i took the video to my desktop and airdropped to my phone and the video wouldn't work, only the audio. i then tried to post the video to my instagram from my computer and it says the file cannot be read by my browser great video by the way!
my format is exported in "mov"
doesn't work by me. Why?
can't believe inspite of technology there is no decent cropping tool

Why not edit using crop in Photos.
definitely another way of doing it. The only problem i found is the limited settings in Photos
Hello, it doesn't work for me :(
Hmm strange! You could try redownloading the app
