@@illavorista agreed... and I like how you get right to the point...no long BS intros that take for every. You get directly to the point. Very clear, very simple.
seriously, that was one of the best imovie tutorials ever... i have been SOOOOOO frustrated with the Standard lower third's lack of flexibility! THANK YOU a million times
Thank you, you’re the best. I use iMovie as a hobby, mostly doing family videos. I’ve compiled a list of “Saved” UA-cam iMovie Tutorials to help with creativity, yours make up the majority.
This was exactly what I was looking for. I'm making cooking videos for people following a whole food plant based diet and this worked perfectly. It worked with the blue underwater background that you used and the gradient backgrounds but I couldn't figure out why I couldn't use a solid color background to sit behind the text. But it still accomplished what I was after. THANK YOU!
Freaking amazing! You’re pretty much the only reason I haven’t switched to Final Cut Pro yet. With your help, iMovie pretty much does everything I need at this point. Thanks once again.
If it's working for you, why switch? You can squeeze a lot of production value out of iMovie. Trust me, I started editing on tape... with a razor blade.
Lol…tape and a razor blade. iMovie is a dream compared to that. And yes, it’s working so I’m not switching, but even you have to admit there are some annoying features to iMovie. For one the play back on the iPad is terrible.
sir, inspite of individual video view count increase my channel analytics view count is not getting updated. what can be possible reason? did I do anything wrong?
Thank you for this really useful tutorial, your delivery style is perfect ,slow enough speaking that we can follow and not speeding everywhere with the cursor so fast we cannot follow it, and your I Movie skills are amazing again a big thankyou
Aw, this is so good! Great timing for me. I've just discovered you a couple of days ago, and am thrilled I have found you. I stepped away from making YT vids but I'm coming back; I thought I just needed a refresher, but these tips and tricks open up my whole world, haha. Thank you so much! (Hi from Canada!) (of course I subscribed)
Superb, very grateful for this. Something I don't understand, Picture in Picture only seems to work with some of the backgrounds in iMovie and not work with the solid colours, ie black, white, red, green, blue etc?
Great one, Michael. I’ve been using your low thirds using Keynote for some time. I’ll try this new way you suggest. Love this underwater background and all its possibilities. Thanks
That’s great solution and thanks, I was looking for it and I found it very easy and doable. I tried and works well however, other that white title text still has a white blur around texts and objects. Tried so much but can’t get exact crispy titles. Please educate me more.
do you have a tutoril on how to export imovie to external hard disk or how to work from an external hard disk so that i can free up my space from my pc? Thank you. I have really benefited a lot from all your tutorials.
Michael you really make my mind explode with such information, regards from Venezuela my friend, happy I am part of your followers I have learned a lot with your content.
Hello, good morning, first of all I congratulate you on your videos ... they are amazing ... I would like to ask you a question ... I also make videos that I want to upload to UA-cam soon but I want to make the videos with subtitles ... without speech. .. how can I do that in iMovie since I don't want to have several video editing programs
So great, as always. I keep thinking I should use FCP, but then I realize I can do 95% of what I want in iMovie. And it's easier. But your last point puzzles me. How do I add my own custom backgrounds to use in lower thirds?
Similar to moving Backgrounds under the Titles, can other Titles be moved/manipulated seconds under Titles which already take up frame space? Titles on top of other Titles (e.g. Opposing voices/Titles beginning before another has finished). If iMovie is unable to, would Keynote be a suggestion to do so?
Michael, you are excellent. Please do a video on how to place a block of color ONLY behind the title, just like you do. Not a banner, but a block of color to make the title pop.I called imovie and they said not possible unless you do a picture in a picture which seems complicated. Thanks much,
thank you - do you have a way for imovie to turn titles back to horizontal after making a video horizontal and then vertical instagram - all my titles are vertical on a horizontal video - thank you for any tips
Hello friend. Great tutorial. What I am wondering is how to reposition the lower third title. I just feel like the place where iMovie puts it is way too high and it takes up too much space in the frame. Then to cover it with the background I have to make the background too large. How can we move the title to exactly where we want it? Thank you so much 😊
Hi Mike, thanks so much for this little gem. Right at the end you mentioned using our own custom background instead of what iMovie offers. How would we do that? Or would it require another video to explain ;-?
Select the lower third text and background clips, copy, create a new iMovie project. If there's no clip on the timeline, place a black background clip there, paste your lower third text and custom background.
Your ability to extract feature after feature out of iMovie is nothing short of amazing.
I was thinking the same
@@illavorista agreed... and I like how you get right to the point...no long BS intros that take for every. You get directly to the point. Very clear, very simple.
That cut and paste tip alone is worth the 12 minutes it takes to watch this video. Thanks, Michael: fan and new subscriber!
The best channel to learn more bout imovie!
Emphasis on free. It's overwhelming that everything requires a recurring subscription fee now. Thanks for another pro tutorial.
Your calm voice makes it easy to absorb and apply your tutorial. Thank you.
Your level of ingenuity is out of this planet 👌🏼Thank you
Totally true, I completely spot an iMovie with the titles!!!
Your tip just opened a plethora of new possibilities: thank you!!!

Very good teacher. You get straight to the point and make everything easy to follow.
Thank you sir! I knew it was probably possible. You saved me hours trying to figure it out
I use upper thirds mostly because the lower thirds often gets covered by subtitles and the player controls.
Always so well presented. Thank you Michael.

Hi Mike, thanks so much for this little gem. Right at the end you mentioned using our own custom background instead of what iMovie offers. How would we do that? Or would it require another video to explain ;-?
Just import or drag-and-drop your background into iMovie.
How do you save the lower creation?
Select the lower third text and background clips, copy, create a new iMovie project. If there's no clip on the timeline, place a black background clip there, paste your lower third text and custom background.
Really good, you're great.thank you sir
that's smart. never thought of that
