My goodness. You are the first one explaining in a way I really understand. And the first person that comes up wit improving my editing without having to switch to another program. THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!!!
I just discovered and subscribed to your channel having never used iMovie before and after being asked to film and edit a wedding video. I never realised how powerful iMovie is and tended in the past to use other movie editors which can be complicated and difficult to get used to, with quite disappointing results. After watching a few of your videos and following your very good instructions I produced a video which was spot on for what the person getting married was wanting. Thanks for your help.
Your videos have been such a huge help for me! Planning on making a travel video later this year and by practicing the techniques you provide, I feel confident it will be amazing!
@@MacVideoMagic Absolutely. I think Final Cut is the next natural step for most Mac users who want to take their editing to the next level. However it can be a daunting step for many people even though there are many similarities to iMovie. BUT I truly believe with YOUR help more people could and would be more likely to make the migration over to Final Cut. Considering the name of your channel you technically wouldn't necessarily even need to start a second channel to upload Final Cut videos.
Absolutely brilliant! No other word for it! This is really helpful for my YT vids, and will be using it immediately! Thanks for making it so easy to understand and execute! Marcus
I found your channel a few days ago and have learned so much. Can’t thank you enough. Your pacing is perfect. Seems slow but is very helpful. Looking forward to adding some new techniques into my video editing and hopefully making it a little less stressful and maybe even a little more efficient. Subscribed.
Very nice! I've been using pic-in-pic animations like this for awhile, but my results always seem so hit or miss. Lots of good tips and tricks here to make things more consistent and slide the arrow from miss to hit! Thanks!
Most other iMovie tutorials only cover the basic stuff. You have gone way way beyond! I look forward to practicing some of these to make better videos.
Great video. I’m being using iMovie for a while and tried to use Davinci Resolve too - I find iMovie so much easier and I cannot find reasons to try to master Davinci.
Michael - might I recommend a poll to see if your subscribers would like to see similar content for FCP? This was a great video but I’m sure a topic (key frames) you’ve covered at least once before. FCP videos might even renew your vigor for making and posting videos.
Thank you for this!!!! I'm editing an episode now and will use this tactic to promote my Live shows. Do you happen to have a video about how to fix grainy video footage from Zoom?
On my iPhone I press on a person to cut them out then add that person using pip in iMovie however what I would like to do is make it 3D kind of in a parallax way. Is there any way to create something like this in iMovie.
Thank you so much for your videos ❤ I'm wondering if you can help me with something? I removed "white noise" from my video with reduce background noise. This worked great, but I still have that white noise in my transitions between clips. Is there a way to remove noise between transitions? Any guidance would be appreciated..thank you!
Select a "white noise" clip in the Media Browser and apply the Reduce Background Noise effect to it (filters affect clips in the Media Browser, too, not just the timeline). Then export that clip (Share - Export File - Quality: High - Compress: Best Quality). This will "bake" Reduce Background Noise into the clip. Re-import the clip into your project. Do that for the rest of the clips, and try applying your transitions. Let me know if that works.
Thank you for your help Michael! I did try what you recommended, the noise went away on the transition clips. I still had a problem anywhere there was a jump cut or split clips. The 'hiss' sound was still there. I tried a roundabout way. I needed to merge the clips somehow for the white noise to go away. I left the noise in, saved my file as an mp4 on my desktop. I created a new movie with that mp4. It was now one clip with an even noise. I reduced the background noise on that clip and the sound is now clear in the entire movie! I have no idea if that was the right approach, but it seemed to work. I'm sure there is a simpler way to remove noise from the jump cuts. I appreciate your time and expertise. Again, thank you so much for creating your videos ❤️

You're so welcome!
I am down a rabbit hole watching all of your videos that I happened upon happily by accident. These are some great tutorials. Thank you!
Wow. Absolutely The best videos on your channel. Thanks!
I've been using iMovie for years but I don't know about this feature. Usually, I use Capcut with keyframe picture. Thanks again.
You’re welcome.
Just the right mixture of slow enough to follow along but doesn't drag on. I enjoy your teaching!
Thanks. It's taken me 6 years to find that "Goldilocks" pace! 😅
Magic Mike does it again! Good stuff!
Thanks!
Very useful tips.....I am learning iMovie with the help of your videos

I'm sure it will be!
I learn something every time I watch one of your videos. Thank you so much! Have you thought about doing a second channel that focuses on Final Cut?
People have been asking me about that. Giving it some serious thought. Would you be interested in that?

Always a helpful channel. Great tips. I use Keynote to do my animations, export as a movie, and use the movie as an overlay in my iMovie project.
Awesome! Definitely a great method!

το καλύτερο κανάλι σεμιναρίων εφαρμογών Mac σε όλον τον πλανήτη !
Ευχαριστώ!
`Great video and a quick question - is there any difference between iMovie Mac Air vs. Pro
Isn't it simpler to use the "animate" tool in keynote to do everything that you explained here?
Great video. Will this work in 10.3.8?
Yes it will.

Why not use Keynote for this? I am esiting videos in Keynote as imovie us just too limited.

@@pujagoel5206 Glad you found a solution! Sure, there may be a simpler way, but finding a solution that works, first, is what's important.
Keynote magic move over a green background and chroma key accomplishes the same thing.
Thanks for the tip!
wow great vlog so i can make better vlogs with imovie
Pity it can’t be used on the iPad Pro…
Yeah. Wish iMovie worked the same across all devices.
Abhhhgh man lost me at min 6 as too involved w key frames, I’ll stick w Canva and Splice
Yeah, it's involved. That's keyframe animation. Thanks for making it to minute 6!
Great Insight Indeed !!!
