Man I like your channel and I couldn’t get after effect in my country somalia I have a exam presentation the day after tomorrow could you help me out especially the thing with book I would really appreciate it thanks
You, good sir, have just saved me hours of trying to figure out how to do this by myself... and possibly saved my university project from looking basic as hell! You are my hero!
Omg you're the first person who has finally made me understand that! Your videos are super easy to follow and imitate and you are also super likeable! Thank you from Germany
This is amazing! The camera movement is such a nice addition.. I also recommend adjusting the highlighter animation speed graphs to the accelerate then decelerate.
Your videos are always so good and simple to follow! By far one of my favorite AE tutorial accounts on youtube..you deserve way more subs than you have man!
Bundle of thanks for teaching us to creat a master piece effect. Please make a tutorial on creating vintage looking maps or srcipts as well. Many thanks
If I could reach out for some help, can someone tell me what step I missed at the 6:30 mark. Russ created the "Main Comp" and says that he can "drag it into this one." Should I be dragging the Main Comp file and placing it somewhere? The reason I ask is because after I correctly did everything up to that point, including the camera with 3D layer, I can rotate the layer on the axis but the highlighted effect does not rotate along with the rest of the layers. What am I doing wrong?
He drags the Paper 2 comp into the Main Comp. Look in your project window, you'll see the comp that you added the highlighter effect in and then drag that comp from project window into the Main Comp.
Can someone help? When i get to the step at 6:50 , where i need to rotate the paper, my paper wont rotate. I have turned on the 3-D effect and everything. I basically cant manipulate the paper in any direction. What should i do? Thx!
i am having a problem... the stroke settings do not appear in my panel group, it's just a blank so i can't change the opacity etc etc. What can I do to fix this?
this is nice, the only thing I'm missing is how to alter the shape of the marker stroke. if you did it like this, the marker stroke is just a perfect circle, I would like something more authentic and imperfect, grungy with some cracks in the stroke. got any tips?
Hey, the stroke path is just a mask so you can go to that layer and then go to the mask settings and change the path by selecting it and using your pen tool. For effect you can apply a turbulent displacement map and use it as a layer mask.
SOLUTION Instead of creating a solid, just create a shape layer and have all your strokes sit within that one shape layer, so you will be able to set the lines to that squared-off look if it doesn't no it auto. Line Cap > Butt Cap: • Set the opacity to Multiply • Add Trim Paths > set Trim Multiple Shapes to: Individually Then just follow rest of video for the 3D bit
Great tut. Liked and subbed. Looking forward to your course launch. I have a question: imagine I want to do something similar but with a much older text (old book, manuscript, papyrus or even stone tablet). Obviously, a modern highlight does not sit well in that case. What would you recommend in those circumstances?
Thank you so much. I've been looking for how to do that camera effect. I know, it's obvious right now but well, everyday we learn something. You've earned a new sub.
Is there any alternative software to Adobe After Effects that can do this stuff? Adobe After Effects seems great - but I absolutely hate their subscription-plan. I want to buy a product only once, and then be able to own it forever. I don't want to pay a recurring subscription-fee!
@fjf sjdnx That's awesome, thanks! But can NATRON do "text-highlighting effects" similar to the one shown in this video? (And if it can't turn 2D-images into 3D-images, can it at least highlight text on a document, like in this video?)

What do you call the effect that you make highlight words or letters come out from a page toward a monitor/viewer and how do u make it?
Thank you:)
Thank you so much, this was exactly what I was looking for and so much more!
Awesome
̉in 6:31, I cannot rotate, is there any shortcut? or any key I need to push before i rotate the map? Thanks for your answer.
Just saw your comment lol, you can change it from orientation on the right hand side menu, by changing the X axis
Thanks for sharing to us! 💪🏾 from Equator!!

Hey, I really liked the effect on the subscribe section. Do you happen to have a tutorial on how to do that?
Thanks 🙏
te amo, gracias
Vox is a great channel and you too
Really great tutorial. But I just had one question...why did he take a solid layer? He can just use yellow stroke, right?
how to make the edge squares instead of round?
ok I'm subscribing let's see what im gonna learn here.
thank you
Great effect, but how do I make a Newspaper out of an article I found online?
Great video!... one question, how can I make the start and end of the lines square instead of rounded?
SOLUTION
Instead of creating a solid, just create a shape layer and have all your strokes sit within that one shape layer, so you will be able to set the lines to that squared-off look if it doesn't no it auto. Line Cap > Butt Cap:
• Set the opacity to Multiply
• Add Trim Paths > set Trim Multiple Shapes to: Individually
Then just follow rest of video for the 3D bit
There is no HDTV 1080 25 in new composition settings. Only 1280x720.
6:11 gonna call this one mein kampf

@fjf sjdnx I see... Although I'm not looking to go professional; I would only be using it for my solo work.
