sorry to ask the following, but I'm new to AE. what is the keyboard shortcut your using to pull up the Small Search bar where you then type in the name of the effect? thanks anyone.
You learn by asking so I’m happy you did! It’s a free plugin called “FX Console”. Once you have it installed you hit Ctrl+space to bring it up. I talk about it in my “top plugins” video
What I realised as a beginning to AE trying to follow one of these tutorials is that it's basically impossible. With the screen being so small and having to constantly rewind, it's just a nightmare. Probably great if you already have experience though.

Question: Where do you get the assets for stuff like this to even animate. Aldo, what resolution or file type do they need to be? Do they need to be vectors to retain detail?
I have a video about some sources I use pretty often (Best Sites for Designers). Outside of that I use Storyblocks, make my own, and sometimes ai. It doesn’t have to be vector but the bigger the better. I try to aim for 4k and up when looking for assets.
Thank you, I've been looking for tutorials like this forever but was struggling to find a good one. Great work, thank you! The presets you're using to animate keyframe movments, what are they called? :)
Hi @mapal, I was thinking of doing video essays (similar to presentations) and landed here. This shit's not easy, looks fun tho. Yes, Vox has great design. Any tools we can use to create essays faster?

Once you have highlighted your keyframes you can either use the shortcut, F9, or right click > keyframe assistant > ease ease. Most of the time I use a plugin called Flow where I've made a few presets to speed up my workflow.
At 4:36 you've added posterise time and then wiggle. Where did you add the wiggle? When I was doing it, after effects said that there is an expression error. Where do I add the wiggle and posterise?
When you alt click the position a little text box should show where you input the expression. You’ll want to type it out like this Posterizetime(12) Wiggle(200,2)
Hey, I noticed when I was at the part where we manipulate the position of the background layer for the 'farm pic' segment, that zooming out the picture as you did showed the original background layer instead of the blue background yours did. Any ideas for why?
What is the frame rate of the overall comp? For some reason I thought the jittery feel to it meant that there was a lower frame rate but It seems that might be all the turbulent displacement effect and you keep you frame rates to 24fps?
What are those Easy in and Easy out presets you have on the left corner of AE? Is that something that is in AE or dit you make or import it? Thanks in advance!
Hey would appreciate some help here, I can't seem to get any Track matte options for my text layer, I am trying to do the "More Ways of Animating Text Reveal" sequence but I am missing track matte options for just my text layer, all of the other layers work fine
So amazing, man. What is your Macbook setup? I am seeking one to buy and use for AE and video editing. I am seeing so many reviews that says 16GB RAM is not enough, it should be 32GB RAM. Does that is true to make this kind of style? Thanks in advance.
