That British bit got me choking on my chips!
You good? Met a few chip chokers in my day and I heard its not a very pleasant experience.
@@WarpingFist I'm all good :)
British people. That was messed up...😂😂😂
Ludwig the Accursed jumpscare
FR it caught me off guard
Godzilla dropkick is the greatest thing in existence
Was hoping we’d see Legendary do it on Kong. Missed opportunity.
It was the most iconic thing in Godzilla history
It really could have worked because at this point, these movies are fast and the furious but with monsters
@@WarpingFist Still a Chance there’s a sequel maybe that’s how Kong and Godzilla win!
@@WarpingFist No. Just... NO.
briish people 3:04 😭🤣
The Big Book of British Smiles is a demo reel for ugly monsters lol
O O F
That caught me off guard I had to rewatch that part just incase I was hearing wrong
Godzilla 2014 was my introduction into the franchise
You….me….same
98 was mine.
Tokyo SOS was my introduction, but 2014 got me completely hooked
Same
the 98 film was mine, but now I'm curious when you saw the trailers what did know of Godzilla or think it was going to be like?
Man I loved the massive scale and grounded nature of Godzilla 2014. I was sad that they threw that away for the sequels but I get its more entertaining for audiences
Showering everyday is bad for you
Grounded realism was great when the film came out, but it was kind of a product of its time since everyone was basically trying to copy the Nolan films in tone and style. Makes sense why they shifted to a different kind of style.
It kinda reminds me of the Showa Era of Godzilla movies in a way, where the first film was very grounded and realistic, but as time went on, the series got more and more goofy and ridiculous
@@WarpingFistThat was an interesting time. Everything down to the power rangers had to be a edgy dark reboot
@@WarpingFist Just because there's a Different Style in the Movie it doesn't make an Excuse for a Bad CGI.
The beginning of the monsterverse how nostalgic
3:05 a terrifying creature that thing is.
Ludwig the Accursed from Bloodborne
This made me a Godzilla fan, glad to see the pre production of this, the MUTOs seem heavily inspired by parts of the Cloverfield Monster too. Almost a meta reference of Japan vs American Kaiju-monsters
They literally called godzilla fatman in one of the concept art showcases 💀
fatman the nuke..... the other is little boy
Pretty sure that's just a reference of the atom bomd that was dropped on Japan. Which Gojira was based on originally
It's a reference to the nuke that bombed Hiroshima.
@@MHAOvercharged yeah thats what i’m sayin
Most movies do that, they have these random names during early production.
Nothing beats that step at the airport terminal. Not any of the flashy fights. That was a perfect power display and really shows you edwards really understood the monsters.
Makes me wonder if he was in constant communication with TOHO themselves and if he was a major fan of Godzilla. People will always complain about the storylines in the Legendary universe; but I have yet to hear people disagree with the designs of the Titans other than the 2014 Godzilla look. But even he got redesigned in the sequel.
@@user-zf2ru4eq4w After hearing about how he was offered to direct, he wasn't necessarily a fan but he definitely understood Godzilla's reverence. He was coincidentally watching the 1954 movie when he received the call. The monsterverse overall just needs competent writers, at least in the areas of structure and dialogue.
2:44 now I kinda wish they went with that one. I love that design!
They've got such a grounded and iconic outcome with the design. Beautiful
Ohhh, any chance of covering Shin Godzilla? There could be a hell of a video about the evolutions 'Zilla didn't go through alone
Oh man, sounds interesting. I’ll see what I can find.
@@WarpingFist aw phenomenal! It's my favourite Godzilla movie, there's so much depth and it leaves ya wanting more, but I'm quite glad it ends with the openness, I wouldn't necessarily want a sequel I don't think
Please keep doing videos of the MonsterVerse!
Maybe if I can find something interesting to talk about.
@@WarpingFist Ahy mucho material descartado de kong skull island
Godzilla concept art in this movie are amazing, wish we could have seen more of these unused titans
Maybe we'll get them in the upcoming Apple TV+ series, 2023's "MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS".
As a British person myself I have had tea with godzilla a fair few times
I really miss Mutos from the Godzilla (2014).
4:54 Shimo teased a decade before?!?
No, but both seem to be somewhat inspired by Anguirus.
Love Godzilla, been watching the Goji movies since I was 5
Only really became a fan of the ip 4 years ago, but I’ve been obsessed with it since.
@@WarpingFist What I'd love to see is a Triple A Godzilla game
Not sure how an experience like that would work. Maybe a top down experience, or a beat em up.
When I was a kid, my earliest exposure to Godzilla was the 1998 Roland Emmerich film. I have a soft spot for it till this day but I never got into the Toho films as a kid because I thought they were dumb and silly. Come 2013 when I learn they’re making a new Godzilla movie in America I was ecstatic when I saw the maquette of his design in a photo at the Godzilla Encounter in Comic Con.
This was the most hyped movie for me that summer and it didn’t disappoint. Godzilla ‘14 looking back is still good, but heavily flawed, but his Design is perfect and they improved on it in the sequel.
Did you watch the Toho Godzilla movies?
Similar to me, the 1998 movie was my introduction and I still have a soft spot for the movie and creature design but I never got into the Toho movies because they weren't available in the UK until Sky Movies showed King Kong vs Godzilla and the DVD and Blu-Ray of the 1954 was released
You should watch toho movies. From heisei era. Not all are goofy like the showa era but far better than 98 zilla. That iguana shit was bad.
5:26 This version of the Mutos kind of reminds me of Shin Godzilla
Kinda looks like his second phase a bit, but it’s obviously better at moving.
Apparently they filmed and rendered the full Honolulu fight. They should have kept that in.
I still wished they kept this grounded tone for the rest of the monstervers but I still enjoyed the sequel even tho I was a little disappointed with one
Ps great vid I always enjoy learning what goes on behind the scenes and this has kept me interested into making movies but I always wondered were you get the images for these videos but keep up the good work hope your doing well🎥🎥👍👍💙💙
2:07 thats look like a cross like a t rex / marine iguana
When the concept art has some better designs than the final one.
Unpopular opinion but I prefer the original Muto Designs than the one we got as it looks far more unique and interesting than the final designs which just looks more like the Cloverfield monster.
I think the final design they went for looks incredibly bland and kinda generic. Wish they went with something else.
@@WarpingFistthat’s wild to me that you think that. I feel like the final Muto is one of the most creative monster designs in recent memory
I agree. They said they wanted a scary villian and then settled on a generic unscary looking villian 😂 man I wish they went with some of the other more horrifying designs. I also absolutely hate the MUTO orange eyes. They look like robots.
The white spider mutos from the 2012 Comic-Con trailer remains one of the greatest mysteries of the Godzilla franchise. I wish anyone anywhere would post a photo of that monster. So strange that we never got to see it.
It’s not really that strange because that monster was only there for placeholder, to let everyone know that godzilla will be fighting other monster in the film. I think even the MUTO weren’t yet existed then or atleast was still in design phase
@@e-money9251 I think it’s more so strange because we got a full reveal of the unnamed multi legged kaiju when the other Comic-Con trailer leaked. That was also a placeholder monster. But at some point someone has to design the placeholder kaiju anyway so somewhere those images exist.
The colors of the original muto designs reminds me of that one orange blob that was in the animated series
If you want to see what monster verse anguirus looks like, 4:53 Is the closest you’ll get to him
1:04 this one is good heisei vibes
The Intro edit is awesome 👍
Legendary's Godzilla is a mix of Komodo Dragon and Iguana
It would be cool if they made a more aquatic looking Godzilla which would make sense.
amazing video. also sad how none of the human characters besides serizawa return in the later movies. And I prefer the human characters in the 2014 movie instead of the awful characters in KOTM
Madison character is good
@@rumijohn6163 Don't think so.
@@rumijohn6163Kinda mid and next in the GvK was possibly worst. Her father was better imo
@@ebirych07 Her scene in the Stadium and with Ghidorah is cool asf. But yea in GvK She didn't do much. The writers kind wasted her but who cares we mostly watch these movies for the Monsters.
3:05 bro that was unexpected😂
0:08
King Kong and Cloverfield: laughing in the Corner*
I love Rokmutal design i wish they woulda keep him or still use him. Its just a great look a Basilisk mixed with Anguirus epic.
You should do a vid on the 1999 one
I Hope You Do More MonsterVerse Stuff
3:06 they honestly should've just kept this face. Not only does it respect the OG toho godzilla as they said because it looks like Heisei godzilla with the white bland eyes of GMK, but it respects the aspect of realism with the scaly like eyebrows and saber teeth and slightly colored tongue and jaw.
4:37 they should have went with this idea. Godzilla fighting multiple Monsters would be so much fun to watch. Glad in GxK we got that.
In all honesty, the Muto's head reminds me of the Starship Trooper's warrior bugs. The final design look unfinished. No hair, no muscle, all black. It look like it came from outer space than earth. Even the eyes glow red. I mean Garth's idea wants a crab -like creature so it doesn't look like a person in a suit with all those legs but again, it look like the final stage is a bit rushed. Now that it made it as a toy for the market, my son would've built the same way. All he needs is:
- a ball of toilet tissue
- six long thick straws
- a black shiny duct tape
- a staple remover and viola
His own customize Muto...😂
man the throat thing Godzilla does after roaring always gives me big goosebumps
I also want to point out that one of the inspirations for the MUTO is from a stealth bomber for their eyes and how they fly. On the video itself of the 2014 Godzilla it was mentioned they also looked to other sources in addition to bugs and animals.
I love how people still brand Godzilla 98 as zilla when toho even said in the Godzilla compendium that he is still branded as Godzilla
Always been a bit disappointed with the final designs but this is still really cool to see the evolution and concept art
To be fair Godzilla killed every single monster he fought in Godzilla Final Wars just as quickly as Zilla, except the last one, Keizer Ghidorah. The only reason people act like Zilla was the only one given this treatment is because it was a one on one fight, where the others were Godzilla killing multiple monsters all at once, and because it was the American Godzilla vs the Japanese Godzilla. He pretty much won shotted every monster in that movie. Hell, Zilla deserves more respect because he faced him on his own where the others had three on one battles with him.
3:05 is wild 🤣 Bristish people! 😅🤣
Lizard,... I thought it was a radioactive bobbit worm...
Are you planning on doing more videos discussing the concept art of the other beasts in the Monsterverse?
Dudes, I was about to ask this guy to make a video about Godzilla 2014 and we got it. Cool
7:48 Looks suspiciously similar to Orga from Godzilla 2000.
U right u right
Mutos kinda based on Orga and Gigan
Wonderful Bloodborne reference. Well done
I lost my shit at 3:05 that was so unexpectedly funny!
1:44 and 1:49 he just happy
Concepts is way better then what legendary produced
Some of these designs should be reused for newer movies.
Now I really want you to make one with Godzilla Minus One (if there's any that is since it had low budget)
Please do more Monsterverse videos!
1:15 my fav design
Okay... That part with Ludwig the Accursed as "British People" made my day. 😂
2:41 That looks very simialr to the Trex Godzilla from the G minus one
8:07 That face is so Rathelos looking
Right in the middle of this I got a gxk ad I've never seen before
Big Monsterverse fan. Make videos on rest of it's movies too please
Imagine if they used these concept designs as failed clones of Godzilla, created by Apex to try and create their own Godzilla they can control.
they should make some of these concepts as their own titan in the monsterverse.
8:07 looks Amazing and i see Muto Prime @ 7:49 An the ones after look great I always thought they where Aliens or Something Else specially After seeing The MUTO PRIME.
The most iconic shet of Godzilla was his drop kick
3:05 b r I t I s h
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?! 🤣🗿 3:05. DO A AVATER 2009 UNUSED CONCEPTS ART.
Honestly i like the Doghe-Goji design but i feel like id like him more if he had some of the more mamalian face rounded aspects of the Heisei era rather then the fully crocodilian esque that was bestowed upon him
Were do People get this "Godzilla is a Lizard" thing? also do you prefer Godzilla with ears or without them?
Godzilla pretty much looks like a giant lizard so the immediate assumption makes sense.
But I didn’t know Godzilla even had ears so I don’t know which I prefer
Godzilla is either a giant radioactive
dinosaur or a giant radioactive lizard.
i would honestly say most godzilla incarnations resemble much early recreations of theropod dinosaurs rather than modern ones
The 98 Godzilla was no more a T-rex design than others. It looked like the mutated iguana it was supposed to be. The comparisons to T-rex were more because of JP being so popular at the time.
Legendary is the perfect Godzilla design, it doesn’t carry the weight of the original but damn he looks perfect.
Do the concept of “ The Wolverine.”
were there unused concepts for kong skull island
“And British People” Lol My Anglo Irish ass was laughing off at that comment! In all seriousness Seeing the various Godzilla designs are interesting but I think the final design is probably the best!
Can you do the same video about the concepts of Godzilla but from 1998?
Came here from pointlesshub
3:05
T-Rex headed one looks pretty cool though imagine how different the movie would be yet pretty cool i still am glad what they chose
Today on WarpingFist: why do Tojo kaiju concepts keep turning into crabs? Are crabs the Final Form? -- guest starring, "British people".
"british people" got me dying 💀💀
2:40 this design actually looks good
Makes sense they went with the most boring designs possible for the Mutos for the most boring film in the Monsterverse.
Still the best one ironically enough.
God I wish they would have went with Rokmutul & Pterodactyl. Even those concept MUTO designs looked a lot more interesting. The ones we got are just kind of bland, sci-fi looking, bug monsters.
The 2014 film is a good one. Personally, the final Muto designs looked more like sentient staple removers instead monsters. That was my biggest issue.
Underrated movie
4:08 got me dying cuz andrew baker's godzilla looks too human
Looks Like Lizard From Spiderman
I wish legendary pictures reused Stan Winston’s 94 Godzilla design
I actually have a book showcasing the uh… *”behind-the-scenes”* on Godzilla (2014)!
It’s called *”Godzilla: The Art Of Destruction”* .
4:53 should be used as a design for anguirus
Weird to think this movie came out the years ago.
I believe that the Godzilla design should be more bipedal and less tripod. Tail dragger Godzilla looks awkward. Agility looks awkward when tail draggin.
Sorry, mate, but if it's not a tail dragger, it just simply isn't Godzilla no more. Sorry.
I think the first muto designs inspired Doug in gvk
Is that really Rokmutal in the 2012 teaser trailer?
It’s Vishnu not rokmutal
I know but Vishnu was really just a name given by the fans, officially it remains unnamed. I was just asking because this guy said it was a reference to Rokmtal and I never considered it could be
I grew up with the original Godzilla, I like the TRI-STAR Godzilla . I love Gamera. I have an embraccive heart.
Ok besides the bad lighting what aspect of 2014 is dark?
But lets be real the mutos clisely resemble Cloverfield. A bug an alien a lizard. A lifeform you cant quite distinguish
But they also look close to Orga!
Make Godzilla terrifying? Bruh, they gave him the face of a dog, he looks cute, tiny ass head too.
Man, that darker tone lasted a whole 1 movie.
"Too Cute and Cartooney"... Minus One design proves that wrong instantly I guess lol
