I can imagine how these unused designs work, just change the names, and give them some abilities, gus could be an acronym for something, the megalon creature could spin it’s head like a drill or something.
I also like to point out that some plot points that were also left unresolved: the fate of Dr. Perlon after he walk into the portal, the tachyons ' possible return, Cameron winter is still at large, the fire monster has been accidentally released by a shark, and mention of third wave.
Thank you for telling me about Fil Barlow. Between Godzilla and Extreme Ghostusters (and I think the animated Men in Black series) his creature designs occupied a lot of headspace in a younger me.
Never knew there was a toy line. Neat. Sometimes I would have liked if the human characters had something more like those initial styles. Not so much a more 'cartoony' look, but a more streamlined look. There was something in the way the cheekbones and mouths of the final designs sat that made them look a bit emaciated and puckered.
So glad you did a video on Godzilla the Series again. Always been a big fan of the show since I got those limited release DVDs back in the day always look forward to finding out more interesting stuff about it that goes undelook in the public eye.
Some designs were wild. I always find fascinating looking back at what could have been in regards of various, expecially the Godzilla's ones. Great video as always! I had never seen some of these before tbh!
@@travisherndon94 Wouldn't surprise me. This was produced during the show's heyday. I like to think, if they'd used this design instead, Elisie would've been flirtier, more seductive around Nick. Thus, making her the Veronica to Audrey's Betty, since, she's the girl next door in this equation.
would have loved if they made mutated designs for a croc/gator, a wild boar, an owl, a frilled lizard or a bearded dragon, a shark or mythical creatures such as the manticore or the European dragon and a werewolf for the human characters, they should've pushed for Audrey, the camera guy, and that French secret service agent
It seems like godzilla the animated series was doomed to not last very long from the start. The 1998 movie was a total failure and hated by critics, so people that watched the movie and saw that the show had a similar looking godzilla automatically assumed that he was going to be like weaker zilla, and payed no attention to it. It also doesn't help that toho was making godzilla movies again, this time with his more traditional look, making fans want to see more of THAT godzilla. The final nail in the coffin is when the show couldn't get a toy line. Usually action cartoons get half of their budget from toy sales, and when they can't, the show will be canned, just like what happened with symbionic titan. If only the 1998 godzilla was more like the one in the series right from the start, maybe we'd still be seeing a much different godzilla today instead of the legendary one.
This might not be up your alley, but it would be really fun to watch some of your videos being dedicated to the movie Evolution, its animated series, and the gameboy game (not sure if it got released on any other consoles) and just your ideas and thoughts in general. Frankly I would love to see them do a GOOD remake of it as a live action series where they really delve deeper into it! I might be a little a bias towards it because its easily one of my favorite movies and is what made me realize that I wanted to study (micro)biology.... maybe I really missed my calling there....
@@andrewdau1299 I found it on youtube but its been a while so its hard telling if its still up and honestly I wasn't able to get too far into it because it really started to feel repetitive. Plus, if you are interestered you might have to look for it under the title "Alienators" the spelling might be slightly different. I'll have to give it another try at some point, but I really do think they should remake it or at least do a tv show for the movie... as long as they do it right and don't change a whole lot to the point where its not the same show etc.
Why do I suddenly want to rematch the series now. In all honesty, I loved this series, I remember rewatching the movie and then finding out about it. Episode 1 had me and it became a daily thing. To be honest, I really enjoyed the movie as well, in my opinion this continuity was really good for a first attempt American Godzilla continuity and it brings back fond memories.
Out of all the mutations is komodithrax. Was hoping for them to make at least 1 or 2 more seasons where the komodithrax is still alive and they have a offspring hybrid komodozilla
So the animated toyline never released but got far enough where the commercials got made? At least that’s what that one picture looks like. Really interesting nonetheless
I really dig this Godzilla universe & wish Toho would do something with it in live-action, or at least do something more with Zilla other than have him powned by traditional Godzilla. I still hate Roland Emmerich's movie, but Zilla's an awesome kaiju & I'd like to see him get his due.

G.U.S. could mean "Giant Unkillable Spider" or something.
G.U.S. could also mean "Giant Ugly Spider" because Gus is well, ugly.
Giant Ugly Spider?

Maybe a comic can be made

Those are really neat. I really like some of the early designs of the human characters and the Megalon, V-Rex and female zilla

Yeah, their faces always looked off to me. They have very stiff expressions, and the cheekbones make them look malnourished.

Glad you liked it. I Love going back to this show and learning more things about it. Hopefully I can make more videos about it in the future.

All of these unused monsters designs would have make awesome action figures.
Maybe the intro monsters were meant for season 2. Which if I remember right had some episodes but wasn’t finished.
I like the spider is named Gus its both sort of dumb but funny at the same time.
The original design they had for El Gussano reminds me of the Gravemind.
Keep up the great work👍
The monster is giving me berserk vibes
Really digging Elsie's prototype getup. Way sexier than her final look
Reminds me of Poison Ivy's Daphne Demeter guise from Batman TAS.
ikr Fil must have been a Batman TAS fan.
I like Audrey's prototype designs the most, honestly.

I have never been this early to a video ever!
Love your content! I can't believe you have so few videos but every bit is so great! Keep it up, I've learned a lot. :)
Thanks for liking! I try my best to get more content on the Channel, and more most certainly will come.
This sure was a pleasure to go through the unused monster design in GTS and I love it very much
Thank you! Happy to hear you liked it!
I actually met Fil one time. I had an art lesson at his house, which was pretty cool.
Honestly, the 90's were a wild wasteland of art design, and the working formula being the sort of body horror for monsters and aliens
would have loved if they made mutated designs for a croc/gator, a wild boar, an owl, a frilled lizard or a bearded dragon, a shark or mythical creatures such as the manticore or the European dragon and a werewolf

I wish they managed to bring the griffon into the movie from the original idea of godzilla.
i legit thought i was the only one with that idea

All of these deigns were hideous and that design for the sea rex looks like something H.P. Lovecraft.
I just really love this video
I still wish we got another season.
The concept art of the Trendmasters toys that doesn't resemble the creatures from the show was done before the toy designers got the series bible.
.... and o'course ditto on 'Cretatous Rex': not only 'Biollante' but remincent of Cthulhu.
I don't really understand why in the series Nick looks like a completely different person and unlike in the movie, he doesn't wear glasses at all.
Out of all the mutations is komodithrax. Was hoping for them to make at least 1 or 2 more seasons where the komodithrax is still alive and they have a offspring hybrid komodozilla
They wouldn't have had a hybrid if komodithrax returned. Godzilla was unable to reproduce in the show

Can you do a Godzilla movie collection

I want to sculpt that toy gusano design it's so wicked.
i kind'a like the re-design of 'Gabera'..!
Have you ever thought about talking about Japanese dinosaur films including Godzilla
So, what your saying is that Randy is almost eternal.

The original design for the protagonist kinda looks goofy.
Goofy ah
Cool
so good
Cool.
Randy looks almost dead in the concept art😂
Do you have the sources of the images you shared for the video?
It’s a shame that this had to be canceled, I think perfect final monster could’ve been King Ghidorah.

that design looks like Shinomura 8:06
When comes season 3 (Godzilla the animated series)
Why they cant use kumongo instead of gus the spider
I think the artist felt insecure to not frighten any kids so they made the designs less scary
I would've loved to seen those monsters in the series. No seriously, they should have done the thierd season

GINO, Godzilla in name only.
Wait was the shrewnado one of the pick a random vermin
Most Likely.
The artstyle is giving me Danny phantom vibes
