The reveal that godzilla was way larger than the japanese hoped for reminded me of how castle bravo was supposed to be way smaller than the actual blast.
It reminds me of the scrapped 1983 American “Godzilla: King of the Monsters!” script: Where Godzilla had a juvenile who was mistaken for himself and was killed by the military. They expect Godzilla to be the same size, and when he appears he’s over twice the size of his fallen offspring.

This should have been the Monarch series, or something similar, moving away from the family dramas a bit and focusing more on the story and the monsters.
Absolutely amazing
Stuff like this makes me wish 2014 wasn’t humanity’s first exposure to monsters in the Monsterverse due to Monarch keeping them a secret for decades.
This could’ve been insane world building.
I kinda wished that they'd use that Monarch TV show to be like the Monsterverse Agents of SHIELD show instead of having nebulous mysteries and all.
2014 was a bad movie this had better screen time
@@somekidcalledmark3754 No! That movie was great. At least it made us feel what the MV was at that time.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. For me 2014 Godzilla is an alright movie. Clearly Edward’s wanted to pay tribute to the 1954 movie by making his movie in a more dark and serious tone, however too dark as in “I can’t see squat, turn up the brightness!”. With its flaws I’m glad it happened otherwise we wouldn’t have the Monsterverse.
I think this is what the Monarch show should have been. Set primarily in the past and actually not break the lore established in the 2014 opening sequence which had this exact same tone. Show the monsters and their discovery.
Holy shit, the way you made the Skull Island creatures move is the PERFECT modernization of those stop motion effects.

Really excited to see this becoming a series. It has so much potential
I also love how well they're utilizing Godzilla in a more horror styled setting as well as the creative uses of the VHS and old video. It's able to keep the familiar style of Godzilla, while being able to go out and do its own thing which makes it very creative and fun to watch. I wish we got more Godzilla styled horror around like this rather than "scary suit scaring people because it funny"
i Agree here.
MAY THE ATOMIC AGE OF ANALOG HORROR BEGIN!!!!
I imagine we could be getting another one from early 60s with colour. Meaning we could be getting Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. Maybe some more Monsterverse kaiju if Lost Utopia Films wants to.
Maybe we could even see Jet jaguar or the Showa alien invasion plots from the 70s Godzilla movies.
I agree, Angurius getting the screen time he deserved made it great too. I would LOVE to see Goro getting action, especially since Gorgo was mentioned, a very lesser known kaiju today
Frrr I don’t think people realize how terrifying Godzilla really is.
Damn, no need to throw shade at Unknowingly and The Man in the Suit. There’s nothing wrong with that style of horror and he puts a lot of effort into his work. Idk what’s up with people always putting other content creators down the moment they find someone that they think does something better. It’s really toxic. Both styles can be used to make scary Godzilla content.
Kinda wish the 2014 design was used for the main Godzilla so that one could easily slip this into a headcanon for the whole MonsterVerse, but other than that this is bloody fantastic.
But it is Godzilla from the Monsterverse, it shares the same height and model
@@GutsGrassesOn yes but the model used here is the doughegoji kotm model from 2019, op is referring to the garegoji g14 model which would make sense here since this all takes place before 2015 (where he got the doughegoji dorsals according to monarch lom)
I would have preferred one of the Toho Godzilla designs personally. Seeing the Legendary one in recreated scenes of the original movie just feels... wrong.
@glitchedoom I mean it's no different than Godzilla vs Megaguirus doing the same.
While that would have been cool, I also think it’s neat that they used KOTM Goji design since he shares the same dorsal plate design the original had in 1954
I think in second program, we meed alien species (like Ghidorah and Xillen Aliens), other monsters (Mothra), and something about Godzilla Counter Attack Coalition arsenal (Mazer tanks and Atragon submarine)
12:16 “a large species of crab”. I thought this was destoroyah for a second
This mockumentary is so well done! This is the level of world-building I wish we had in the MonsterVerse and modern kaiju movies in general. Kaiju fan films like this are more thematically satisfying than most of the actual kaiju movies because they actually take the time to flesh out both the kaiju and the world they live in. In fact, I actually look forward to seeing the MonsterVerse fan films more than the actual MonsterVerse movies anymore because the fans do a much better job at characterizing the monsters, developing the world, and actually deliver on what people want to see from those movies.

This is amazing. Great special effects for the day, and even compared to 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's Godzilla - you know, the one with a man in a Godzilla costume/suit. Amazing special effects on King Kong, too.I've seen some of these movies and have known of some of the creatures, but apparently, there are many that I haven't seen. Really cool short movie.
I love the implication that humanity just abandoned New Zealand to Anguirus. But great story, fantastic world building, you clearly have an interesting story going on here and I'm quite interested to see where it goes
I wanna know how Angurius died in the Monsterverse.
This is amazingly well done, reminds me of the classic suitmation Godzilla films.
Godzilla's first attack on the city really similar to old techniques used in those films, such as Koichi Kawakita's Composite shots used in the Heisei Godzilla films.
If the Legendary Godzilla films looked like Godzilla's first city scene here, they would be considered some of the best kaiju films.
This is by far the coolest found footage concept I've ever seen. The genius of having the original King Kong movie turn out to be a documentary that snowballed into all of this is fantastic. The sense of scale with the kaiju is well done as well !

Hey man
The black and white image matched the smoke effects perfectly. In CGI it is very difficult to make a realistic color, not even big studios can do it, but in this video, because it is in black and white, it looks good.
I actually love this FF video and the idea of Gorgo and Godzilla and Kong living toghether is awesome. The idea of Kong being a documentary AND THERE EVEN IS THE SON OF KONG, this is GENIUS
As someone who grew up watching "Fantastic Dinosaurs of the Movies!" and was my first exposure to many giant monster films, the 1950's presentation, music usage and the reconstruction of the trailer footage but for a real kaiju setting hits such a nostalgic beat for me this thing hits a special place in my heart. The weaving and world building on display here and the foreshadowing of all the other things out there is excellent and is one of the most compelling and well realized fan-godzilla projects I have seen in a looooong time. I haven't been this invested in a fan-project for Godzilla since way back when Matt Frank was doing Godzilla Neo on dA back in the dark-ages of the Godzilla fandom, lol.
All in all, this is peak kaiju media and a pinnacle for what fan-works in this fandom should be.

How this channel isn't as famous as I think it should be surprises me. It should be up there with FilmCore, Dino Mania, and ASM

Out of all the found footage and analogue horror that focuses around Godzilla and the Superfauna, this one managed to keep me interested for the whole run time. It was genuinely interesting to watch and the usage of 3D animation was really good. What's also really nice to see is that this seems to be focusing on other lesser known monsters than just the main cast. Keep up the great work as always
The way you unified the 1920s-30s era of monster movies with the modern ones. The idea that these creatures are as they are now but seen through a 1900s lense is brilliant. I genuinely pogged seeing doug and the triceratops together. This is so damn engrossing excellent work.

i don't think i've ever seen a better blend of the main 3 kaiju film categories
1 - monster vs city, sometimes shot as a borderline horror or disaster movie (cloverfield or godzilla 1954)
2 - monster vs monster, good ol' monster wrestling (alot of showa-era films. but godzilla final wars strikes me as a particular example)
3 - monster vs military, kinda overlaps with 1 but this is a common climax to some films if it isn't the main point (shin godzilla. pacific rim)
