Hi 2 Lady Homesteaders, I tried again making apple jelly from peels, cores and seeds and taking your advice, I was successful in getting 3 wonderful and tasteful jelly jars of apple jelly from scrapes. Thank you so much for your advice and videos. Stay safe and I look forward to watching more of your videos.

I am so excited for you. Isn't it a wonderful feeling making something so delicious for yourself from something that most people would throw out. Every time I open a jar it makes me smile.Vivian Ann on the side of the mountain in northeast Tennessee

Planting an apple tree from seed is kind of "iffy" at best- Most apple varieties are self-unfruitful, which means their blossoms must be fertilized with the pollen of a separate variety in order to achieve good fruit set. The fruit produced will be the same as the parent tree, but the seeds will be a cross between the two varieties. There are a few varieties that can be self-pollinated, so it could be possible to get true to type from those kinds. Why does this matter? There's a very good chance the apples won't even be edible. Many apple trees are pollinated by crab apples, which are usually small and inedible. Also, while it might be edible, that doesn't mean it will taste great. The chances of getting a truly tasty apple are very small. Apple trees from seed take longer to produce fruit. It usually takes about 7-10 years before you can even tell if you are lucky and have good fruit. Just don't want you to take up valuable space in your orchard and 7 years later realize you've grown fire wood. Good Luck & God Bless :)
