Hard Freeze Tonight...The Last of the Garden....Hurry, Hurry
Переглядів 6977 років тому
Hard freeze coming tonight and there is still so much in the garden. I ended up with over five 5 gallon buckets of tomatoes, a bucket of green peppers and onions, 3 buckets of Danny Corn for corn meal, a large laundry basket of Amish pie pumpkins and butternut squash, more dried lima beans, sugar snap peas, and some stuff I have probably forgotten. God Bless
Hello New Chicks

I am crazy .... I can't turn down a bargain when it comes to adding value to my homestead. Even when it is crazy!!! Like having 30 baby chicks behind the wood cookstove in my kitchen so they will be warm enough at night. Like I told you .... I am crazy!!! Canning Potatoes using Tattler Reusable Lids
Переглядів 5 тис.7 років тому
Yea! Food City had a sale on russet potatoes ... 50 pounds for $11.99. That's about $0.24 per pound. I pulled out the canner, got to peeling, and decided to use my Tattler reusable lids. I just love these Tattler lids. Since they are reusable they fit into our self-sustaining lifestyle well. There are a couple differences in how they are used from one time use metal lids. I go into those differ...
Veteran's Overlook and the Beautiful Clinch River
Переглядів 6597 років тому
Half way between Tazewell and Morristown, TN on Hwy 25E overlooking the beautiful and scenic Clinch River the citizens of Grainger County erected a memorial to those that have given their lives in defense of our freedoms. The memorial also commemorates MIA's and POW's. I think that this is probably one of the most beautiful spots on earth ... or, at least in northeast Tennessee. Please, forgive...

Patrick and friends came by yesterday, Labor Day, and it is raining today. I am so thankful that thousands of gallons of water was diverted away from the houses. Vivian Ann and Ambria 2LadyHomesteaders PO BOX 344 Sharps Chapel, TN 37866 2LadyHomesteaders@gmail.com
"Good Samaritan" Excavators
Переглядів 4457 років тому
Patrick Hurley and a couple of his buddies (Peanut aka Harvey and William) heard about the mess we are in because our money was stolen by the contracted excavator. These gentlemen came by on Labor Day to help by digging the trench out again. They were able to accomplish in less than an hour what takes me a week. Storm Damage in the Garden & Winter Concerns
Переглядів 4157 років тому
A storm came through last night and damaged the garden. All I can do is go forward and see what I can repair. This is part of living off the land and off grid. The temperatures are about 15* below normal for our area. This is quite a concern for me. What does this winter have in store for our little homestead? Thank you for sharing God Bless America and all requiring prayer at this time.
Genius! Thank you for sharing!
My mother chopped cabbage with a can
Awesome video. Thank you. We bought outback 80 system and solar panels 2000 watts total for now. 6 volts 4 batteries so far. 16 batteries sounds good. On a sunny day can you run your house on 16 batteries. Thank you
when you see this, please know you are appreciated. Your videos are still appreciated, still valuable. still watched and referred to.
Earlier last week, I bought 3 huge heads of cabbage with the intent of canning some, putting some in homemade vegetable soup to can and to make a small batch of saurkraut. I forget the process I had learned. So, I got my new canning book out just to find out it's not recommended to can cabbage. Other than saurkraut or in a mix for relishes, they say the density is an issue that makes it unsafe. I was really looking forward to it being in my vegetable soup! Now, instead, i have a huge crock of saurkraut fermenting. I guess the bright side is I wouldn't need to make more for a long tkme! 😅
Wanting to can cabbages, so i can make Chow Mien
Do you refrigerate the veggies
I brown the sausage and onions, then add potatoes, cabbage and chicken broth.
Hi, what gets me is they never want to give you your jars back.😢
Any new videos? I hope y'all are doing well.
Doing my first garden woth my husband. Learning the terminology is fun.
Mam you’re wonderful! I’m an old Arkansas boy that found your video shorty after you made! You showed the vidalia chopper and I thought I have to have one. It’s fine tool to add to the pantry! This video help me make my first batch of chow chow. I’ve never forgot you but did forget how to find this video. Your recipe is as straight forward as it can be! I so glad I found you again. What do think about adding cauliflower with the cabbage as well as more green tomatoes? I bet you made more of your delicious chow with with zucchini and squash?
I think the ball lids say a year to 18 months is what they guarantee the seal once they know but like you, I know products that I’ve gotten my house or yet did have that were 78 years old and just fine
I wish I could get one of the companies that’s making the really good jars to also start making glass lids again I’m becoming obsessed lol
So put them on the shelves without rings
im going to put a light bulb overt panels so they charge at night
What to you? I miss you and your videos.
How do you clean the back panel it gets greasy. First year using mine (were the writing is)
Great Video! Thank you!
Your entire process is an inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing this video. ❤
Thanks
Looks yummy..I would put celery and dill in that with minced garlic❤❤thankyou😊..I use washaway labels ..
A lot of talking and no action
Your cabbage core looked like a Christmas tree! 🎄
Yum yum I'm in the process of making myfirst batch gonna can it up tomorrow
Yes God bless America 🇺🇸 🙏
How much butter will be made from half galon cream???
Canned cabbage is mushy…. And unfortunately it’s not a USDA approved food to can. I am well aware we can do what we want in our own homes but I think that it is important for people to understand what is safe.
How many solar panels do you have?
16
What are your setting to get charger to turn on with genny. I have dual inverter set up and ac in on but charger not kicking on.
You have a fantastic voice. 🌺
I think this is the first video I have seen of a home Solar Electric System made by a woman. I think it's great! We need more women in this space. Please tell us why you decided to go this route, and how did you learn about it all?
If you have a stream on the property, you can use an inexpensive, homemade, self running, non electric, stream powered Ram Pump made from a few plumbing supplies. Even if the stream is quite a ways away, and lower than your tanks. There are lots of youtube videos about this. It can pump the stream water quite far uphill and if there's nearby spring, a double acting ram pump can pump just the spring water.
My grandfather 30yrs ago had this idea. But he had to build "device" himself as they weren't commercially available
does it not come out of the jar as mush?
Thank you for the video. I am hoping you can help me. I can not find the Sieva (Carolina) butter bean anywhere. If you have any would you be willing to send me a few?
Is that all from one animal? I was told not to mix milk. I thought I'd I cooled it I could may it together till it's full.... God Bless!!!!
You are too cute, i love the detailed instruction, i plan to can cabbage today.🥬
Genius!😊
Not spicket, it is a spigot
absolutely a great video! thank you for sharing your knowledge
Where you buy the drawers and the case is nowadays they say seal 18 months and all the
how the cream seprat like this, did you shakit, necouse the market milk is not seprate?
Because of less fat content. Here in Europe u mostly buy in supermarket 2 or 3.2% fat.You need fresh milk and not those bottled pasteurized.
What you added to that pot to begin with "blanched" for a great deal longer than what you added at the end.
I would put some of that beautiful fresh raw cream in a big steaming mug of black coffee! Yum!
Do you have a shot of the wiring for your generator? I have the same system and need to hook up the gen set.
Woww nice sharing
Are you still using this brand machine? Did you ever have teat issues?
I would like to know why the plants bolt? I have certain lettuce which is red romaine and a mixed lettuce bought them from Lowe’s and put them in different locations and they all bolted. Wondering why that would happen?
