I just want to let the Bitwig crew know that this is an absolute godsend ❤ For years integrating Eurorack with a DAW has been a challenge but with this HW device in Bitwig the issue is solved. Absolutely amazing work and I’m sure big thanks from the Eurorack community.🎉

Hey guys from btw! It's been like 5 months that i switched to your daw, enjoying a lot, truly a inspiring and easy to get in the zone hehe! But i miss a scale highlight a lot, it really helps to check intervals etc. Please implement this feature! A lot of btw users will be happy for sure 😃. Thanks for all.

Some sequencers ( like the pretty ubiquitous doepfer A-154 ) need to have the reset trigger occuring on the last clock tick of the sequence in order to prepare for the first one. In the manual, Dieter Doepfer argues that this is the most precise specification of the reset behaviour for a digital controlled sequencer. Fully analog sequencers can get the reset right on the spot. Right now, bitwig sends the reset when at start ( good for 100% analog sequencers) and not right before start (as required by digitally controlled Sequencers) . There is no precise way to offset the reset "one clock tick earlier" in order to accomodate this type of sequencer reset behaviour.
Of course one can use time shift as a workaround but it is unprecise and limited whereas a [reset offset parameter] on the [clock out device ] would do the trick graciously and is probably very easy to add.

This is a great overview; it moves very quickly. A request: more detailed information about calibrating the HW Instrument. I personally have struggled with this and find it hit or miss with respect to the automatic calibration. And the manual option remains, even with your quick note, a mystery to me. Thanks for the help and keep 'em coming.

+1 for a deeper dive on calibration as I've also had mixed (mostly negative) results using it!

@@BappinProductions I think if depends on the audio interface you use. For example, I was trying and trying to get it to Tune something meaningful on an ES-8 (which did a fantastic job on the ES Voice Controller, surpirse) so then I switched the HW CV Instrument to my MOTU UltraLite channels and it actually gave me about 3 octaves pretty well tuned calibration. In any case, I think, using a relatively 'clear', i.e., square, wave form for calibrating is a good idea. But the whole thing is still a bit like witchcraft or voodoo.

@@edwardnixon1782 I also have an ES8 connected via ADAT to an RME Fireface and I tried following the guidance in the manual i.e. using square wave (were possible) with the recommended input levels etc but still the results were hit and miss. I just don't bother with it anymore and accept the inconsistencies as "character" :)
I've been meaning to put aside some time to set things up with Reaktor Blocks because it also has VCO calibration and from the various YT videos I've watched, it seems much more reliable than the calibration in HW CV Instrument.

I think it's worth noting here that if you run Bitwig on Linux you can very easily use JACK to connect Bitwig to VCV Rack. I believe all of the techniques demonstrated in this video would be applicable in this setup, and you're not going to break the back on a bunch of outboard gear!

very good DAW. The only Con is the piano roll. A right click on the instrument to open the piano roll would be a game changer.

I'm wondering about the part where the Native Instruments audio interface is used to integrate with Eurorack. I can't see that the NI interface is a DC Coupled Interface from their online specs (maybe it is), how is it working here and how many inputs/outputs would it support from the Bitwig h/w instrument? Does this approach have any limitations?

Could you PLEEEEEZE do a tutorial on how to set up the expert sleepers ES-5 in Bitwig (with ES-9) to get the gates from multiple CV Instrument tracks to come out of the ES5? There are some max for live helpers and left to right utilities in ableton that make it simpler. How to set it up in bitwig?!?

@@Fedor_Tkachev_Music Thanks. There is just one stereo output to ES5 (7/8 for ES9). The problem I have is how to route gates from multiple tracks into the encoder to get it to come out on predictable ES5 channels. Like the gate from the CV Instrument on bitwig track one to trigger the 4th output of the ES5 via the ES5 Controller on bitwig track 8

CV hardware which is USB class-compliant will just appear. Or whatever interfaces you have drivers for. But the Expert Sleepers modules that use multiplexed information on existing channels might need to be done with Expert Sleepers’ Silent Way software. I’d contact ES and ask Os, or check his forum on Mod Wiggler. Either he or the community can probably help.

I love what Bitwig has done but I think its enough of adding new stuff and concentrate on refining what they have. There's room for a lot of improvement like the Piano roll is a bit dated and basic but I love how its more of a instrument then a DAW...
