HEY HON,
YOU HAVE BEEN DOING FREDDIE'S BIRTHDAY PROUD!!
THANK. YOU. FOR ALL THE FANTASTIC REACTIONS!!!🥰
....I can NEVER get enough of watching/listening to Freddie & Montsie (Montserrat's nickname) together.... They truly adored each other! After Freddie passed away, Montsie was asked by other singers to collaborate/do duets like she had with Fred, and she always turned them down. She also took part in the dedication of Freddie's statue in Montreux, Switzerland/she was there with Freddie's Mum & Dad to comfort them.💕
Awesome reaction, no one reacts to this song, so thank you for picking this one, and it is a good one! There is a slightly different version where just Freddie alone sings this song, it is called Rachmaninov's Revenge, I almost like it more then this version. There is actually one song where Freddie did attempt an opera sound, it is called Ensueno. Montserrat provided the lyrics to the song. Montserrat did enjoy the project a lot because it gave her a lot of freedom like writing the lyrics to a song for example, opera is very specific and structured. Perhaps you should check out a true opera aria from Montsertat as well, it is a short one only around 3 minutes long, O Mio Babbino Caro - Montserrat Caballe. It is a very well known aria, you would properly recognize it if you heard it. Classical music can be quite popular in metal, it is often seen as the original version of metal. Queen also had some influence on that, as singers like Rob Halford borrowed some of Freddie's more operatic style of vocals.
So Fabulous !! Here are two Uber talented people who both are not “ in love with themselves “ . Of course they had egos that were part of their highly motivated natures but in reality there was a sweet romantic vulnerability to them. They respected and loved each other and wanted to please each other …… and the audience. Wish we had Rory Bonanzas everyday 🥰 This is fun!
Didn't want it to end!!
Freddie was so much more than a simple rocker! He was the music. Mike Moran the co-writer on the album is an oustanding pianist, a true friend of Freddie. You also can find interviews (e.g. Finding Freddie) with him speaking about the collaboration with Freddie.
Such a rare talent. I don’t think we will ever see a person with the God given talent this man had.
Thanks for the "birthday Bonanza"! 🥳
💕Two beautiful souls....
Agree they had a real love and respect for each other
Wish so much they had been able to do another album together
Me too . . . WOW! And I've listened to this many, many times. But your input/interruption fed the emotional trip they had me on in a positive way....Yes, listening again! So appreciate these reactions recogizing Freddie's cherished friendship with and opportunity to sing with Montserrat Caballe'.
Freddie was a true versatile artist, performer...it's true many from both worlds were not happy, but after this some tried
Think this experience was the best he could end with in his life. That true love and respect those two had, fulfilled his desire all his life for opera, and a stable sharing of his love for music. Glad he had something special before he left us. A great ending for a powerful and loved legend ❤😊
There is one more track on the Barcelona album that I have never seen anyone react to. La Japonaise is a piece Freddie composed because of his affection for the Japanese people and their culture. They were the first country that fully embraced Queen and treated them "like the Beatles", i.e. huge crowds of screaming fans following them everywhere. They had their first taste of rock stardom there. The song is quite beautiful, sung partially in Japanese by both Freddie and Montserrat.
Thanks, Rory.. I appreciate your willingness to hear new things.. Montserrat said how much she appreciated Freddie showing her the possibilities beyond her original "training" .. just to say that she was trained to be "perfect" on every note.. and he showed her that she could use her voice and have "FUN".... (and Fred wrote this entire album for them to perform together..)
I love love this song!! Hello my love!
@@debramoore7513 Hello, Darling! I like Rory's reactions - he seems very interested :)
@@GinMae LOL .. When I first subbed last year he quipped how he hated Radio Ga Ga & how he wasn’t interested in Queen’s main hits! I now applaud him for returning to Queen, digging deeper, & diving in. Rory is one of my favorite channels. 😃👍☀️
@@debramoore7513 Yep - he got "woke"! lol
I'm exhausted from listening !
Thank you 💗 I have this on CD AN LOVE LISTENING TO THEM BOTH A LITTLE ROCK AN A LITTLE OPERA A BEAUTIFUL MIX 💛💜💙🌹🌹🤩🤩😘😍🥳😜💋💋🎚️🍀🦋🦋☮️
Single uk no 8 in 88 then no 2 in 92
Album only 25 uk 88
No 15 in 92
Still well worth doing
A fantastic experience for both of them
Wow you are absolut my number 1 reacter….like this are nr 1 duo ♥️
It was originally called Rachmaninov’s Revenge with just Freddie’s vocals. Re-named The Duet, and finally The Fallen Priest. Sir Tim Rice was asked to write the lyrics after Freddie & Mike Moran “ran out of lyrics” 😁 Elaine Paige was living with Tim Rice at the time, and she was working on an album of Queen covers (released in 1987). 👑⭐️
Thank you!!! My favorite. It will be in my head all day now LOL 👑 🎵
Totally unrelated but The ThornBirds series was broadcast on TV and I always Associated the two together as a theme for the times
Wow 🥰 beautiful Freddie ❤️ Freddie and Montsy ❤️
Very tight descriptive insight on first listen. The music score is almost like a wall of sound against their voices, his stuggle. Pretty racey subject for a song in that time.
Freddie was working on this with Mike but got stuck same with Golden boy
Had the basic idea down but couldn't get them to work
Tim Rice helped him out
Back to Freddie saying he want his life and career to be seperate and wanted to be treated like a normal person
Bit dissapointed in Tim he said they went out for a meal and Freddie wasn't bringing attention to himself so he did!
Further tweaked by Freddie!
On paper this shouldn't work but it does somehow
83 he had a huge advance to do 2 solo albums
87 he did a cover of great pretender no 4 so the record label asked him to do a cover album he said no
They thought he was still working on his second solo
He didnt tell them it was a duet until it was finished!
They paid him to go to another label!
these "reactions to...
" although I agree with you, have unfortunately become so inflationary in the meantime that one actually asks oneself," does he/she get something for positive criticism?". Many do not even question the technical support that is usual today and break with every sound of a Stars" in cheers. For clicks? I do not accuse you of this course of action, especially since it was not possible at the time. Sorry, I agree with you on all the singers of the last century.
Montse was a very funny woman
I love Freddie piano playing but he seemed to loose confidence in himself the more he worked with concert pianist the less he did
Mike plays piano on this tweaked by Freddie!
Loved the reaction, thanks! The vocals are great but it's the piano that really stands out to me in this. Classic piano piece by Mike Moran.
Genius Annotation
Originally a virtuoso piano piece by Mike Moran with some high vocals from Mercury, it was named “Rachmaninov’s Revenge”.
It was re-named “The Duet”, and finally, “The Fallen Priest”, when Tim Rice wrote the lyrics for it. Rice was asked to write lyrics after Moran and Mercury had exhausted themselves of ideas. Elaine Paige was living with Rice at the time, and she was working on an album of Queen covers. Also released in 1987, it was produced by Moran who also conducted the orchestra, wrote the arrangements, and played piano and keyboards. The ending piano riff bears a strong resemblance to the ending of the first movement of Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2.

True always think it sounds like Rachmaninov
