Rachmaninov was an incredible composer who wrote piano concertos and preludes that had lightning-fast passages. Give some of his compositions a listen, maybe starting with Concerto 2, but listen to all of the movements. It's amazing, and may explain that "conflict" and passion you heard in this song.

To think Freddie never had actual singing lessons..A voice like this must be a gift from God .A reminder, please do a "Love Kills", Freddie's solo project.

but in reality he rehearsed and sang with the best like montserrat. those are singing lessons you don‘t get with a normal singing teacher. he took piano lessons at the age of seven and had his first band at the age of 12, so when people are saying he had no singing lessons that‘s all relative because he had at least musical instrument lessons, therefore always in contact with professional people and learned from the best. hence he had the right tools to bring himself up or merge his musical characteristics to evolve his famous skills being able to get in contact with such people like montserrat caballé to get even more skills.

Rachmaninov was a famous composer. His concerto’s were fabulous. It makes sense that Freddie would do one of his with his amazing talent and vocal range. God I miss him.

This song turned into "The Fallen Priest" on his album with Montsy. It is an idea in sound of what he wanted to do with her voice....and his. The first verse, on the album, has the most beautiful undercurrent of harmonies I have ever heard.

You are awesome for reacting to this! No one has ever reacted to this song. You are 100% correct about the turmoil in the song. It is definitely suppose to be a push and pull! This was also actually demo. It is obviously a demo where Freddie does both parts of the duet. That is why it is called the later version. The final rendition of this song is actually called, The Fallen Priest, so as you can imagine it is a story about a Priest struggling with his faith and falling in love with someone. But it could still be about Freddie in his own life as well. Honestly, I am really amazed how you got all of the feelings within the song so spot on without knowing anything about the song. This is another one of those rare songs, but as you can hear Freddie did some amazing singing here. This song might perhaps not be for everyone, but I think it pretty good. Freddie actually used some of this music in Was It All Worth It as well.
Something else I requested with your Somebody To Love reaction at Milton Keynes, was Play The Game live at Milton Keynes ua-cam.com/video/LQqHZb1b__w/v-deo.html. It is actually one of Queen's more popular hits and for some reason you haven't reacted to it yet.

Even his demos are fabulous, the song is essentially there, missing lyrics, different lyrics are here but the structure is in place. To be able to carry off Montsys parts as well is a God given gift. The Freddie Mercury rarities box set where this is from is a gift to any fan.

    The Fallen Priest lyrics
    Free me, free yourself
A life of sacrifice controlled me
But those promises I made no longer hold me
Mercurial more wayward by the hour
The shackles fall away, I'm in your power
    Free me, and free yourself
Come to me and let me lead you
I beg you, I beseech you to let go
My heaven is yours and heaven is all I know
    We are mortal
In the hands of Gods who roll the dice
    Searching for an earthly paradise
    So hard to find
    We are mortal
We are victims of our weaknesses and passion
We are reaching for the heights
(I am falling, I am falling from the heights)
But I promised I would serve
I should be a rock against depravity and sin
    Oh no sin no sin
Free yourself, let your life begin, oh
    To yourself be true
I am a man of God
I should not be here with you

Hap - Sergei Rachmaninoff was a russian pianist and composer who died in the 40’s. He was really amazing and Freddie knew that very well. Yes, turmoil is really the word to define Rachmaninoff. This is a masterpiece! Freddie caught the vibe perfectly and the Russian would be proud to listen to him. Freddie’s musical culture is immense 💕💕💕💕💕

Freddie's Vocals and ''imitating'' Montserrat here is superb. He was a great singer (to me the best) I'll never understand the people who disagree to him being good or even one of the best. 10:57 THAT WAS SUCH AN PERFECT EXPLANATION, the turmoil and alter ego thing. You haven't even seen the finished version yet, that's why I'm so amazed you mentioning this. 16:15 Listen how the instrumental goes inverted here. 17:14 So you explained your whole interpretation here. Actually TO ME IT COMPLETELY Sounds Like a Battle too. It's not as you explained your image of it but its still a battle between something. In my interpretation the battle has mostly to do with the inverted instrumental part I mentioned before. YOU HAVE TO Listen to the finished Version. I never heard this unfinished version but still it made me realize of how Great and better the finished version is, better instrumentation, Of course better Vocals. But most importantly how amazing those finished Lyrics were and as you said it was telling a Story. The Finished version of this song which is called ''The Fallen Priest'' must be one of the most EPIC Songs I have ever heard in my Life. It's COMPLETELY Dramatic. It's just Amazing and wow. Getting goosebumps every time I listen to it. I just found it 2 weeks ago, just wowww. The duet between Freddie and Montserrat in the finished version is just perfect. And in the finished version right at the end of the song Montserrat is hitting one of the most Fantastic Notes I have ever heard. You must react to the Finished version. The way they made it dramatic while telling that story... Like Montserrat Vocal's made it so perfect to bring out the dramaticness and well Freddie too but not in those ''opera vocals'' I can't explain how amazing it is. Hope you will get the same Kick while making the reaction to the Video. Here the link to The finished Version ''The Fallen Priest'' ua-cam.com/video/1_Hcz0meGHE/v-deo.html . The lyrics of it is in the description of the video I linked. Great Reaction. and Yes I didn't comment in some time but I'm still alive :) .

Thank you for reacting to this work in progress for The Fallen Priest from the Barcelona album. I have never seen anyone else react to it in any of its versions. You did an incredible job of interpreting the meaning, given how lyrically sparse it is. It may be the most dramatic but least liked & least understood of any song on the album. What gives away the meaning more than words ever could is the heart-wrenching angst, turmoil, and pain in Freddie's voice. The singing is just glorious. Would you be willing to react to the final version from the album? Lyrics below...they explain a lot.

I think he’s incorporating the composer Rachmaninov style into his own style of music. But the song is actually called The Fallen Priest on his Barcelona album and he’s accompanied by Monserrat Caballe his opera diva bestie. Not much he couldn’t do with his incredible voice and piano skill. He loved all genres of music obviously. ❤

Rachmaninov (rok-man-e-nov) - Sergei Rachmaninov (also spelled Rachmaninoff) was a legendary Russian composer and pianist who emigrated after the Communist revolution of 1917, and became one of the highest-paid. concert stars of his time. Freddie loved classical music and was very much influenced by it. If you listen to Rachmaninov,'s piano recordings, it's easy to recognize that Freddie's playing was influenced by those recordings.
