Congratulations, we are all here for the love of aviation. Perfect view of the approach and one doesn’t need to be a pilot to appreciate it. This video was refreshing, no gauges just pure stuff!
More please!
loving the people watching the arrivals at the wide-open airport terminal roof
It's a great place to watch arrivals!
Oh yes, that's probably one of the best airports for observing planes~
It's a little smaller nowadays. It used to be longer.
But on the other hand, there's a road paralele to the airport a little higher up. Another perfect view.
Stunning video!
Obrigado!!
@@Flightradar24DotCom You are welcome!
Excellent!! I watch Pedro @ Madeira Airport Spotting all the time. This was a great new perspective!
Pedro is awesome!
one magical transportation into the magical island of madeira thankyou for taking the time to do it
Man, this was so perfect I almost cried of joy. I should have been a pilot...too late now. But videos like this make me dream and experience the sensation.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I've flown that approach a few times - happy days.
I fly regularly to Madeira and always book seats on the right hand side of side of the aeroplane as with the prevailing winds this runway (05) is most frequently in use. I love the Khe Sanh steep curving approach onto final : it feels like the wing will touch the water: the cabin always goes quiet. And in the winter the crosswinds make the approach a bit of a rollercoaster with frequent go-arounds
I'll never forget the awe I felt the first time landing. One window: sky. Other window: sea.
Talk about a curve. 😂
I can only imagine how much worse a take-off is in those crosswinds.
@@spikefivefivefive actually the take-off is much more straight forward, at least in my experience
So you walk up to them, say you're from Flight Radar, and you get this kind of front-row seat? :)
Wow! That turn was fantastic, even though I was just watching it felt like I was inside the plane 😊 brilliant job pilots 💕💕
Great video. Sweet landing. I gotta try this in MSFS.
That was amazing, been watching another Channel showing the airport operations and find that amazing as well. Grateful to Lufthansa and Flightradar24 for sharing.- might be doing this same landing in a BA plane in the autumn.
Very cool👌🙏for sharing
FANTASTIC
This is better than the free flight from MS Flight Simulator :)
We’ll duh, it’s real
Thank ypu for sharing a beautiful approach to a vacation city!!! ☺
That was very cool to watch. 👍👍
Fantastic. i love doing the approach to RWY 05 in the simulator. I practice this many times.
Beautiful.
Beautiful approach
Beautiful Landing
👍💓
Looking forward to be on Madeira in December. 🥰
good vidéo MERCI
Nice view from long way out..tricky place to land with windshear...
Very nice video!
One of the smoothest at this normally breezy airport 😎
another winner from FR24 - thank you
Very much enjoyed.
I also filmed and photographed Madeira. It is a beautiful island. 🙂
It reminds me a lot of the approach at Heraklion International airport in Crete, Greece. The way it is done and the views are very similar
I MISS SO MUCH WHEN I WAS LITTLE AND MY DAD WOULD TAKE IS THERE TO SEE THE PLANES LANDING AND TAKE OFF,WHILE HE.WAS FILMING THEM ! WE WOULD BE THERE FOR HOURS BUT FOR US IT SEMED LIKE MINUTES!!WHAT A WONDERFUL TIME!!!👍 👍💓?
amazing great pilots
*MADEIRA* *THE* *BEST* 😊
Awesome!
Very nice view
La classe !!
Perfect
After a roll under 90, he immediately lowered nose down so as not to lose speed and fall)))
I remember flying to this airport in the 80's before the runway was extended.Quite scary and the take off going back home. Its on huge pylons now and much better with the extension to the runway.
Die Landung von Nordwest her ist um einiges interessanter. Bin schon beide Varianten geflogen.
Fantastic coverage. Love the 05 approach. Was it RNP/RNAV or purely visual?
I fort it were a plane! (joke!)
Einfach herrlich :)
Ah, the temptation to fly around those clouds instead of cutting into them...
Great fun doing that.
I don't fly at all, but going through those clouds would freak me out !

Excelent
These guys have an awesome view from the office window!
Indeed they do!
Bravo 👏 👏 👏
No one gonna talk about the FC Nürnberg airplane
1FCN !?
Does any one know why do they need to do such a tight turn onto final - why not fly an approach without such a severe turn? It does not seem like the terrain would require them to turn from downwind onto final in such a tight pattern...
Not a pilot but I’ve been here a few times. The land to the south is high enough to interfere with the glide slope, so all arrivals require the ‘fighter turn’ and only specially qualified pilots are allowed to land here. Needs huge skills!
@@martinross5521 True. If you continue, the cliffs get taller. They turn exactly where the land is not too high and in the best direction of the runway. Further to the sea would still not align with the runway. Further inland is dangerous because of all the high hills.
mantap broo 🤣👍 kopi mana kopi
Top!!!!
That brake power after roll out! Oof!
Still used flighradar premium but still learning how to maximize the fitur
awesome... btw, first officier is really hairy ;)
I'm surprised there's a follow-me car for a such a simple airport layout in visual conditions. I'd understand it at a large airport or foggy conditions... I guess this is just the norm in Europe?
Easy. I remember not easy with crosswinds in 2010. :)
Yep it was a very easy day there!
@@Flightradar24DotCom I hope we will have an easy day, too, when we Flyer to Madeira in september...😳 I'm so scared stiff of the turbulences and windshear you always hear about!
What is the auto voice saying after it gives the final elevation 5040 and then after that it says recharger read something what is it saying or am I getting that? Totally wrong on what it saying
It says "Retard" which is a command to reduce the throttles to idle. I have been flying for over 40 years in small aircraft and never needed to be reminded to slow down on landing, if it is a full stop landing of course!
So I find it a rather strange idea that pilots flying every working day should need reminding? After all I don't think they have a voice to tell them to raise or lower the landing gear, but I believe they have speed limiters on lowering the gear, as in it simply won't come down if you are too fast? Over 250Kn I seem to recall, something that was part of the Karachi incident? They don't tell you when to lower/raise flap etc, so why do they think pilots need reminding to pull the throttles? Anyone know of the reason for this seemingly unnecessary command?
@@rogerblackwood8815 hey awesome exclamation thank you very much for the detailed information on the app. I thought it did say retard but I didn’t want to be politically incorrect and use that word but thank you very much for your information and your other information and you being a pilot for over 40 years, you’ve probably seen him vent through some different things up there. Kudos to you. Thanks again for the information.
@@rogerblackwood8815 that is because the aircraft uses a autothrust system where the thrustlevers stay in a detent until you get very close to the runway. If the pilots didn't retard them to idle the plane could switch back to a basic mode and accelerate again. So you would risk a runway excursion or worse hence the call out. Doesn't apply of course if the landing is done without autothrust
@@chaoz1666 My friend flew airbus for a few years with Emirates, we discussed many peculiarities of the type, but this one never came up!
But your explanation makes total sense, are you currently flying them?
@@rogerblackwood8815 haha, I wish, no I am just an avid flightsim enthusiast
It looks so fast 🥹🥹
8:55 strange to hear the 3 clicks in the middle of flare phase
I think it could be the throttles pulled back to idle
@@charlespflies The 3 clicks shouldn't relate to the thrust levers from what I understand. It's a feature by Airbus to notify a change in mode or landing capability (CAT) degradation, which will be shown on FMA.
In the video linked at the description, PF has AP off and AT off but with FDs on when landing, so it's quite unusual to hear 3 clicks, because 3 clicks is most often heard after AP is disconnected manually, because disabling AP 1/2 with AT still on degrades from CAT3 to CAT1.
Thanks for the info. I remember this happening when I landed in Porto on an RNAV approach and heard three clicks just a few feet before touchdown. Not a pilot here so just assumed three clicks was after idling the levers.
@@charlespflies That's interesting, though thanks anyway.
I believe it was the autopilot reverting back into heading select as it had reached the final waypoint, the threshold.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Flew auto pilot till the very end, you can hear the bip for switching to manual
Final looked too fast! And the 320 stopped e crow on a branch! Beautiful!
Why do we need this tight steep turn? Couldn't it be done from a bigger wider angle far away from the runway?
No because of terrain.
And also to align with the runway.
By the way, those cliffs and hills may look tiny from the airplane view, but from the ground, you see how high they are. There are night lights all along the turn above land that the planes must take when landing from this direction.
The other direction is usually not used because of the winds.
Noice
why did that plane just insult you like that?
lol.. somehow i hear the same 🤣
That's a cost of not needing to browse QRH when a fault pops up :P
Suuui
I like Cristiano Ronaldo airport I would like to go here one day with my son LACHLAN.
