Same! I first heard 3 of ELO's songs on the radio, and the DJ did say something like, "Here's a block of ELO," and played The Eldorado Overture, Can't Get It Out of My Head, and Roll Over Beethoven, in the summer of '75, age 8. I was mesmerized, permanently hooked, though it was several years later that I learned that the first two were two separate songs. I recognized Roll Over Beethoven from having heard Chuck Berry, and the Beethoven's Fifth intro was a cool addition. Over the next 5 years, I heard several ELO songs; some of which I knew was them, some I heard but didn't know who the songs were by. In the autumn of '80, I heard a 2-hour Westwood One history of ELO, though I don't remember the actual title of the show, and I knew most of the songs; for some, though, I hadn't realized they were by ELO. I was more of a fan than I realized! I sometimes wish I could hear ELO's songs for the first time again, as an adult, just for that thrill.

It all started here in the states with EVIL WOMAN and it never stopped ELO for putting out hit after hit. It's nice to see younger people appreciating good music from the 70's and 80's. Another great song from this superb band is TELEPHONE LINE.
I did roller skate to ELO among others as a 12 year old in the late 70's. I am so grateful to God to be born in the era I was. So so so much good music.

Personal favorite, I live in rural Kansas, and when my boy was in Pre-K I would drive him up the lane to meet the bus. One morning this came on the radio, and to my surprise, I could hear him in the back singing the response (slowdown...hold on... ECT.) I now can't listen to it, with out hearing it in my mind. He's 17 now, and growing into a fine young man.
@Lewis when I was in grade school, on a field trip, I saw the mural the self titled album art was taken from. I said, "Hey it's the Kansas record!" My teacher broke out in laughter.
One of my favorite bands of all time. That whole album is excellent! I fell in love with the violins in their music in the 70's. Jeff Lynne is brilliant
With all due respect to the choices so far, "Showdown" is their best work. John Lennon, who knew something about composition, said that song was their masterwork, and one of his favorite songs of all time. Please don't miss it.
My favorite ELO tune. To me they were honoring the 60’s Motown sound. I grew up to this and the Beatles and The Four Tops and The Beach Boys and The Chairmen of the Board and so many great artists.

Sweet Talkin Woman has a number of riffs and harmonies that evoke doo wap styles of the 50's and 60's... multi layered vocals and a driving beat that makes one rise to one's feet! All hail ELO! The look on your face as you hear Jeff Lynne and the band go into overdrive, makes me smile and join in the fun!
This one makes me dance too, and it was so fun to dance and sing along with you, oh my goodness! I too have the time travelling rollerskate fantasy. Sigh. Thank you for sharing this joy!
The reason this song is so great is that Jeff Lynne never let it get boring. Something is a little different in every verse section, pre-chorus and chorus. Maybe the arrangement is a little different (example: the lead in to the second chorus is lighter and higher than the first round). Maybe a vocal line is dropped in from out of the blue, or there's an instrument playing the same riff another instrument played elsewhere. The hard vocal breakdown near the end is beyond inspired. You're thinking they'll do the standard chorus codas to the end, then they make you sit up hard at the sudden--but completely believable--change. This is fantastic pop songwriting. Should be taught in musicology classes everywhere.
Was 'Fire On High' the B-side of this? I seem to remember my sister's purple 45, and watching 'Fire On High' practically spinning off the record player!
God, I miss those old rock and roll days, cruising around with my buddies in their old 64 impala SS or the 70 model Chevelle SS 396 and blasting out the back windows with these songs.

My older brother did bought this and other ELO-records in the late 70's and I'm into it a few years now. One of the most influential and innovative bands of the 70s and 80s.
I am 66 yrs old I grew up with ELO , Queen and many more other bands during the 70' s saw them live, you don't hear good bands like it anymore still listen to them to this day, from Australia.
@@tjl4041 The only song I hear from it on radio or setlists is "Hold on Tight" which is a great anthem, but there is so much more the album has to offer. "Ticket to the Moon" as a piano ballad; "Way Life's Meant to Be", "Lights Go Down"; "21st Century Man", "Yours Truly, 2095" - It's an album I find difficult to listen to one song without listening to the whole album. It would be amazing to see if the story of it could be adapted as a musical one day.
From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years), ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra_discography
This is the song, that through nostalgia and pure brilliance, makes me happy at any and all moments- whenever needed. Great reaction - As we have come to expect😉
Hi Jamal. E.L.O. Electric Light Orchestra. I bought this 45 at Rock 'n Easy Record Shop in Brunswick, Georgia in early '78. The vinyl was not black, it was a see-through light purple record that was just so cool. The ultra talented Jeff Lynne and his awesome band took their classical music training and rocked it way up creating a sound like no other musician or music group ever before or since. Super nice guys by all accounts, too. Love, love, love it and glad you do, too!!

Telephone Line is a song I really liked..easily one their best songs..Glad you put that one on your to do list!
He already did it.
Yup
@@gsadventures678 you are right..i missed yesterday's reviews..let me adjust my comment!
@@gsadventures678 better?
THIS IS WHY you need to keep this REAL MUSIC alive! Thank you SO MUCH for that. We need great music to keep us SANE, through this horrible times we are forced to live through! Keep on keeping on 💯!! ! Hugs, from Mesa, AZ 🌵
I love there song Turn to stone as well.
I saw them in concert when I was a kid and it was amazing! Full orchestra and laser light displays going on over your head. One of the best experiences of my youth!!
The height of musicianship and production. Great music in the mid to late 70s!
I really hope you're gonna react to evil woman by elo, hands down my favorite song of theirs
Hells yes
Back in the day I was a little girl in roller skates listening to E L O. Loved them! It stands for Electric Light Orchestra.
My older brother did bought this and other ELO-records in the late 70's and I'm into it a few years now. One of the most influential and innovative bands of the 70s and 80s.
I'm giggling and smiling like an idiot! Thank you!
Oh mate, go down the rabbit hole cause you ain't heard their best yet!
This is easily my favorite track by ELO. Too bad it doesn't get played on the radio as much as some of their other hits.
I am 66 yrs old I grew up with ELO , Queen and many more other bands during the 70' s saw them live, you don't hear good bands like it anymore still listen to them to this day, from Australia.
I've watched several of your reaction videos. To see the joy this music brings to you is awesome keep this music alive
Jeff Lynne is just one of the most creative and consistently great artists in the history of pop music. My hero!
So grateful he's finally in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I think alot of brow-beating by his fans helped them reconsider!
I mentioned it on Telephone Line, but it bears repeating: "Here is the News" is an amazing ELO song - story, action, and musical genius. :D
This.^
That album "Time" was so underrated. That was my second favorite Electric Light Orchestra album.
Needs to review some from this album.
Lights Go Down
Hold on Tight
Prologue - Twilight
@@akumacv2075 I love the entire album. There is not a bad cut on that album.
“E” “L” “O” - Electric Light Orchestra
Yes, not ever "EELO" lol
Thanks mate. So funny recently finding all these young people suddenly finding music that was on every radio station when I was growing up.
Yep..lol
Omg😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Yep! Not elo...it's E L O.
From 1972 to 1986 (During 14 years), ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra_discography
I've heard this song for years and I've loved this song for years. Still jammin' to this day!!!!!!!!
This is the song, that through nostalgia and pure brilliance, makes me happy at any and all moments- whenever needed.
Great reaction -
As we have come to expect😉
ELO went from "Sweet Talkin' Woman" to the other extreme with "Evil Woman," another fun song of theirs. :-)
They're the same person.
@@EverlastingHobnocker LOL...
Lesser-known ELO gems with killer intros: “Tightrope”, “So Fine”, “Rockaria”
I love tightrope so much
you are right , love those 3
Insane outro: Shangri-La
Rockaria is killer!
agreed and to add to that list I would include 'One Summer Dream'
I saw them in 1978. Best concert I've ever been too. Still loving their music! Love your reactions too!❤
Hi Jamal.
