I love how closely you nailed the Fawful dialect when he’s ranting about piracy. That all sounds like something he’d actually say.

In one of my games, the character Hearthcliffe is loosely based on Fawful. Trying to write original dialogue using Fawful's speech styles was very difficult, but I nailed it.

Fun fact: Mario and Luigi Bowsers Inside Story *has actual anti piracy measures,* just nothing strange like this. If the game detects that the cart has a different amount of storage than it should have, the game will not allow mario to press the “jump” button upon the first battle. Additionally saving dosent work. Thats pretty much it. Additionally, the game has an anticheat, but there isnt that much documentation on it.

Yep, I was going to say that, I remember not being able to play this game on my flashcard when I was little for that reason, even if I somehow got past the first battle, the game would either crash after Peach throws Bowser off the castle or stay stuck in a black screen when I moved to another area if I managed to get inside Bowser, I could use the same rom to play on emulator normally though.
I remember I tried to use my action replay for a certain part when I was younger, and I couldn't get past the winged Parakoopas, the game would softlock in whatever their tutorial was
Also if I tried to skip the carrot eating minigame it would also softlock.

It's stupid. Like why would you get jail time just for pirating? Glad there are enough jail cells for everybody who pirates, huh.

The way this plays out is outstanding. Playing out like normal while sprinkling in a warning at Bowser, making him question what are they rambling out. And then it starts to happen. Finally the player gets an AP screen. Very well made.
Hold on. That last part, isn’t that the encounter with Dark Bowser and he creates that dark hurricane music? I know it sounds very familiar. Sorry, I played the game so many times to count. It’s that good.

If you put the speed to 1.25, it will be the normal speed version of the music, but is yet messed up

Ah, beautiful. This one actually looks like something Nintendo would pull, minus the Fawful battle sprite. Especially pinning it on Bowser. This matches the writing style to perfection. Best one I've seen since the Mario Party Final 5 anti piracy.

This game does actually have anti-piracy measures but it's not riddled with the recent "destroy the cartridge!" trend people jump on. Of course, people can enjoy it but I feel like it might confuse people or something. I dunno.

I like how you slowed down the inside version of Deep Castle/The Castle Depths during the Midbus fight, as well as Fawful’s fourth wall rants about piracy.
Well, at least we can learn something more from this "anti-piracy" screen. As some speculation, the "cave" at 5:13 could be something inside Midbus or... well, you get the idea.

I love the slowed down Deep Castle music during the battle, slowed down that song feels super hopeless. Perfect for the scenario!

It really feels like AlphaDream did the whole "Your a criminal!" dialogue. I'd be pretty confused if the storyline randomly talked about 'stolen copies'.

As much as fawful probably does a good job at deterring pirates, I don't know if a lot of people would actually listen to that guy...
There is actually an anti piracy measure in this game, where if you go into a boss battle outside of bowser's body, the game bugs out during the "showtime" intro. There is a workaround though involving emulator settings.
If Geno had his own inside story, then the anti-piracy measure is different to this.

The funny part is that something similar is happening to me. In this exact point, after starting the battle, when Bowser says "Showtime" my screen bugs, and right after Fawful stops talking my game crashes.

Personally if I could make an anti piracy thing for inside story or partners in time I would just make it something like
An enemy tells you that piracy is bad and then sends a boss fight on you, after the boss is beaten a character will say that while the boss was dangerous he did have a point and that if you’re going to save the kingdom you’ll have to get a legitimate copy, then Mario or Bowser would agree and then exit the fight by just walking off the screen
After they walk away the screen would go black and then send you back to the title
Something that feels more in line with Mario & Luigi and less like directly reprimanding the player since Mario isn’t about that

I love how everyone is bantering on about Pirating games and Bowser is just "What the heck are you talking about?". This is one of my favorites since the anti-piracy screen retains the charm of the rest of the game and doesn't just go for the "U GUNNA DIE N GO TO JEIL!" like most do. You made something that both payed tribute to the MPDS videos while also not take it super seriously and having fun making it.

The remake deducts $250,000 from your eshop account if you don’t comply. Meanwhile this would deduct 25 Million points from the DSi shop if you did the same thing. It would request you put it in a DSi if you were playing on anything else other than a DSi XL. Since the DSi shop doesn’t exist anymore I don’t know what happens.

Thats the real anti piracy screen. like pokemon B/W/B2/W2 a;ready have an anti piracy measure that prevents u from leveling up. So its useless to have an anti piracy screen if it already has one i guess
