Yeah. My favorite is how Peach references her adventure in Showtime and others mentioning what happened in Odyssey making this Brothership set after those games really brings a nice sense of continuity.

I'm pretty sure Bowser never had a true friend when he was Junior's age, so that's why he became evil since a young age (we can see how rude young prince Bowser is in "Partners in Time" compared to Junior), unlike his son, who has been through different life experiences, like learning about trust and loyalty from his minions and now his true friendship with Buddy. Maybe he'll grow to become a way better king than his father.

This character arc really elevated the game for me! I felt so bad for Buddy. All he wants is a friend and he found it in Junior. When Jr got angry at him and told him he wasn’t his friend anymore, I genuinely felt sad for Buddy! Like, that’s GOOD writing right there!

Bowser commands respect to his army because he puts his trust and love in them almost as if they were family. And his army commands respect towards him because he is a great ideal leader. Even towards the climax of the movie, Bowser still trusts his army to "rip them (Mario and Luigi) to pieces". Eggman, in the first and second movie, sees his acquaintances as machines. He has a literal army of them. Tools to fulfill their duty, as long as Eggman achieves what he wants ,and never complaining. Means to end. That is why he appreciates people like Stone. He couldn't truly see how much Stone cares for him, because like he said, he sees him as a sycophant.

Well in the case of this game's story, *everyone* made friends that end up separated by the end, not just Junior. Yet, Kamek's words still hold very true: "True allies are with you for life." They may separate but Junior is never going to forget Buddy.
I legit enjoy how the Mario & Luigi series has been giving Bowser and his boys more screentime and character growth, especially in Junior's case. I also love how they're keeping continuity by referencing events from past games. I know people will always love the simple Mario platformers, but this to me is peak Mario.
I questioned Buddy being good or bad, but he seems to care about Bowser Jr. Anyway, it’s nice that Junior got a friend, even if he was kind of disrespectful. I used to think that Koopas are completely bad, but they really aren’t, and Junior is an example of that.
I mean, the previous games have already proven that not all koopas are bad, even to an extent Bowser himself. He's the antagonist but when crap really hits the fan, he will help out if his minions are in danger. He cares about them and he also cares about his son.

This game seems incredibly nuanced for a Mario & Luigi game. The only other game this deep was Partners in Time, and even then, that was only barely touched on, not even acknowledged by the game itself, but the fans who understood what we were doing was genocide.

Even if you technically can’t call them friends, they still acted like they were.
I loved this arc, Junior finally had real character development.
