Went out and bought the 72×48 in version of this case and its easily going to be able to hold all of my bigger pieces. So happy I stumbled apon your video. This is going to change my life.
I'm an absolute DIY noob, I've never built my own stuff before, but I've been recently collecting figures and a few statues over the past year and a half, and am about to (hopefully!) get my own place in a month or 2 so I've really been wanting to get a nice display for my stuff (I've unboxed nothing yet haha) I remember looking around for DIY displays because of course customizing your stuff is the best way to get what you want, but all the other things I saw about were a) suuuuper difficult and very long to build and/or b) not exactly what I was looking for. But what you've got here is like perfect. I want something pretty big with acrylic windows around 3 or 4 sides so I can get a nice view of my statues and this is like... perfect for me. And it seems just so damn easy to build and put together aswell! This has gotten me pretty excited to try working on something like this sometime next year. Thanks for posting this. It's the first nice custom clean looking display on UA-cam that I really really really like and seems very doable even for a noob like me.
Much respect to you sir. Great job with your display. I wish I was gifted like you in craftsmanship. I may have to work some overtime and pay for someone to do something like that for my display. Thanks for sharing!
This is good. I've been vainly trying to come up with a closed cabinet way to display figures and Lego sets, and I CANNOT BELIEVE what display cabinets cost. This still isn't cheap, but it's a lot cheaper.
Appreciate this video. Was sent to me by a buddy and I just ordered everything for 3. Can’t wait to start setting them up. I’ll have lots of empty space in them but not for long.
Just wanted to say, I've been going crazy looking for a way to display my Pure Arts Assassin's Creed statues that are huge and your video is pure gold! Definitely saved me tons of money. Earned a sub.
Thank you so much for making this. I’ve got the Sideshow 1/3 Venom on order as my first statue and have been stressing about how to display. This is going to be great. Thank you!!!
This is so cool - I’m gonna do something similar without the acrylic (just don’t like glass myself) and turn the bottoms into drawers/cabinets for storage so I can have all of my statues at eye level. Thanks for this!
Hi, I bought the Edsal 72Hx36Wx18inD black shelves from depot. I also bought the same LEDS from Amazon you got. I mostly will go get Acrylic glass at homedepot this weekend plus the tape to cover the holes on metal bars. I cant wait to add my PF wolverine by sideshow in there. It will look sick as yours!!!😁
Ive ordered the sideshow 1/6 jabba the hutt figure so i need a big space. The freaking thing itself is 32” long. Moducases are out of the question as the cabinet for that figure alone will set me back £400, AND i have to wait 6 months for it. Then theres my bajillion hot toys figures to house too. Probably looking at £2000+ for a set of Moducases. Your video has given me so many ideas. Im pretty confident now i can whip up a sleek new display for under £500 which will house EVERYTHING. Thanks for the video. Thumbs up from me. 👍
BIG THANKS FOR THIS IDEA!! Actually I have thought of this before: having a steel rack and acrylic glass sheet. However, I don't have any idea on how to put the glass into the shelf and not to stick it permanently for me to freely add/change/remove the figures inside. Thank you for giving me these ideas. This I think is a cheaper option than the glass cabs! 😁
Thank you for taking the time to make an extensive video explaining the whole process kindly and thanks to the good Adam Prince for his great contribution, a very humble person who always helps
great set up brother im gunna try my hand at it in my next build in my 1st bulid i had just a half shelf instead of using curtains tho for the back i used pvs foamboard to give it more of a solid looking back its cheap and can be held on with some double sided tape thanks for the video
Thank you so much!!! I bought these shelves (also inspired by Adam) but I haven't dressed them up yet because I wasn't sure what to do about the edges. Your vinyl idea is brilliant. The display looks amazing.
Thanks dude this video was exactly what I've been looking for. Definitely going to try it. Super cool to get the answer I've been looking for from someone also in Louisiana
You mentioned some concern about moisture? I am also in the south, my wife and I have a private toy museum at home. I would recommend investing in dehumidifiers, (one per room) to maintain a dry environment. We keep ours running night and day to help protect our collection.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said?? Thank you. As a new collector that buys mostly XM Studios stuff-who can afford another $2K just for the shelving?? And guys in the Collecting group are always talking about buying that expensive Moducase!!! I’d rather use it for new statues!! Bro, if you’re ever in Atlanta, I wanna treat you and your Badass lady to some awesome Southern cuisine and beer!! THANK YOU!!! 😎✌🏾
Wow awesome job I’m happy for you ! Love the idea of covering the Velcro...shelving is one of the most important things in the collecting hobby and I believe this is one of the best ideas especially for the low cost ! Hopefully more people will do the same thanks for the shout out mannnnn ✌🏼
Mate, just found your channel and this video is a godsend! Thanks so much for uploading this video, going to help me so much now I'm off to watch Vol 2
Been looking at some new display ideas and this is def on my list of ideas now. Just subbed. Thinking about getting into some statues now. Keep up the great content!
Hey! Thanks for this video as I have watched it several times when waiting for my muscle rack setup. I didn’t go through with the plexi and the velcro, but I am going to get the lights and hide them the best I can between the shelves.
Thanks for this. I have been struggling to figure out a cost-effective way to manage my expanded 1/4 scale statue collection. I'd mostly done 1/6 and 1/12 figures for years, but this is going to be great for displaying the statues and protecting them from a particularly unpredictable feline....
Or you could pay 10x for "cases" that hold less weight. Great video and nice to see someone using their brain in the collecting community. Tired of seeing people selling junk cases from half way around the world for thousands of dollars.
Completely “borrowing” this idea for my collection. However I think I may make some minor improvements..... namely... adhesive backed velvet to line the shelves, a solid sheet of painted drywall for the back, and I’m going to frame the plexiglass with painted wood using dado cuts on my table saw, and I’m going to use magnetic strips to attach (a la moducase) . I’ll make sure to tag you in the finished product pics/video. Thanks for the fantastic solution to my problem!!
Brother I just found your channel and excited over your creativity. I found your site by searching for my daughter Lego Disney castle she made wanted to add to. Smaller version. If you have any shelves (setups)you recommend as it’s 25 inches tall x16 inches. Lastly, I was blown away by the hyperrealistic figures of Batman and Terminator ! Where the heck you buy those????
Wish I would have seen your video months ago because I just paid the first installment of $530 on my second order of a Moducase MAX140 case. Plus I probably have to wait half a year or more for this thing to arrive. Oh well. Nice work on the video.
There are some people that have used magnets. However the Velcro acts like a hinge on a cabinet door when you open one side. With magnets you have to take the entire glass off every time. The hinge method with the Velcro has certainly seem to be the best way so far. Again you can do magnets but it is more difficult to manage when getting into the cases.
That's so awesome! I have been thinking about making a shelf display similar to this! I guess our creative tattoo artist minds think alike! Phenomenal job!
These look almost as good as Moducases for a fraction of the cost. The statue community are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to this. I got many ideas from the communities on Facebook but UA-cam is just as good
Curios if you take cost out of the equation if you would do another acrylic panel on the back instead of doing the fabric? Have you noticed any dust or anything in the case with using the fabric, or any other disadvantages?
Oh my God, thanks for sharing this diy video with us here on UA-cam. I think there's a lot of Action figures collector that can use this video to do the same to display our collection. I think if it's possible I would like to buy the acrylic panels a bit thicker for stability but man think is a cool project to do. Again thanks for sharing
This is awesome needed something to display my elder scrolls and Zelda dbz collection needed one that would be an entire wall size could always lift stack and add some type of rubber mount or something to have the corners connect as an idea.
just stumbled on your video looking for ideas to display my ever growing collection thats still all in boxes. out of curiosity did you think about mounting acrylic with magnets?
If these came a bit taller and with 4 shelves instead of 2 I'd grab these in a second. I'm not a statue buyer I'm more of a 6" and hot toys size buyer . I love these though for sure, nice setup and idea !
Lighting took me a bit I'm about to do the velcro but I notice we have the exact same case lol so I see around 21:01 you also have this lip on yours, did you just cut a strip in half to make it 1/2 inch approx to put on the top and bottom? Cause that lip is small and when I tried to mock place the strip it totally hangs off that.
@@Hiddendimension1 thank you great idea, the alternative was laying it flat and tryin to cut that would be a pain in the butt. thanks again, it's slowly coming together :)
I don’t want to do the acrylic just a preference but I love the idea. What exactly can I use to get a black trim look and cover up the holes in the metal?
Not sure. Maybe glue magnets to come kind of strips? The acrylic is Important to cover the edges but I think you can think of something. Just have to be creative
How do you deal with power outlets when it comes to having a wide display case blocking power outlets? If you still want to use the power outlets you have to some how cut holes in the back and side of the case to thread the power cables through the case. I have similar problem I want to get a custom made display cabinet for my statues, but if I go too wide then I will hit a power outlet to which I either have to sacrifice or some how create power cable management with the display case so I can thread cables through it OR go the alternative and go power board on another power outlet and use extension cords if necessary. I want a case thats roughly 1350mm wide but that will block probably half the power outlet to which I can live with as I have two power outlets side by side. If I go 1300mm wide it wouldn't be wide enough for the planned statues I'm planning on getting. If I go 1400mm wide it will most certainly block the first power outlet and leave the second power outlet right on the edge of the cabinet. So yeah its a tricky situation when you want a nice wide cabinet but power outlets become a problem and restrict the width of the cabinet size you want.
So there’s no backs to these cases. Just fabric. So I can remove the Velcro’d glass from the front and get right to My outlet by scooting the fabric over. I also use surge protectors in all outlets so I can get to and move plugs as I need. It’s really easy actually.
@@Hiddendimension1 Ah okay no backs to your cases. Hmm...yeah whether anybody has the skills to DIY or get someone to custom make a case for you...either way you still have to deal with outlets and power cables. For me it still in the planning stages of getting display case so I don't know what I'm going to do. First of all I'm going to try and contact a place that makes custom display cabinets and ask them about cable management and dealing with outlets and see what they say about it. @BogleArts thanks for the replay as I'm doing my research on what's the best method for myself and also shop around and see what I can find.
Thank you SO SO much for doing this video!!! I've been researching how to display my 1/4 statues and this is something I am going to definitely consider, it's beautiful!
2 questions -- if you didn't want to do the fabric, do you think painting shelves would work okay? Heck mine could stay wood color and it wouldnt that big a deal to me. But black makes it look more "museum" as you say. -- But my main question as I watch this and see how man parts there are to each one -- *would this be a pain to move?* If you live in an apartment and might move every 2 years or so -- would those be a pain to keep reassembling? As you show the fabric is not part of the shelves, etc...
hey, mate, im doing an acrylic panel for a case i have, gona go with velcro, would polycarbonate work ? the panel needs to be 36inch by19, do you think 3/16 inch thick is thick enough ? . and if polycarbonate not good, would you tell me what type and thickness do you recommend for my project. Thanks
I just the link..but there out of stock..dang. I can always get the 72in high..but it's more expensive. Very helpful video. I'll save to follow and how I can do this as well.
Thank you bro, I have the same shelving units and been trying to make them look better and came across your video on a Facebook page. Definitely know the humidity problems I'm in the New Orleans area too but anyway awesome collection you got, keep up the great work and videos
That's really a decent idea. I saw these at the Depot but the boxes all had pretty bad damage so I quit it. That was a while back i'll go check again. I have a lot of Prime 1 pieces so depth is important. I have Doomsday as well which is probably the biggest. I think Hush Supes base might not even fit :P. I dunno i'll figure it out this looks really good though.
simonriddick these don’t have solid backs so the base can hang a few inches off the back and still fit. The black background just caters to the base shape. As long as the shelf is pulled away from the wall some. Good luck
@@Hiddendimension1 Ok thank you. Some of the big boys might get their own special area. Going to face off Hush Supes and DD on their own I think. Cool :).
I believe if you add a some more of thoses led lights you have on front towards the back it will illuminate the shelves more. Maybe 3 more in the back on both shelves, other than that it looks fantastic!!!
Awesome set up. Definitely going to go with this. Especially since I collect 1/4 scale statues along with hot toys and my deltofs aren’t enough anymore. Been looking for a new set up.
The shelving unit i am looking at is 72H X 48W X 24D . Do you have any suggestions on what fabric to use ? My concern is that if i use two of the ones you posted it wouldn't look as clean with a divider line . Any advice would be appreciated .
Nice build. Can I ask a favor? Can you measure from the bottom of the shelf to the top so I can order acrylic? I'm going the route of ordering custom acrylic and shelves won't be in for another week or so. Is your shelf on the bottom option? Can it go lower?
You can technically not use wood on the bottoms shelf and just set the statues on the floor with the black fabric giving the illusion there’s a shelf but you actually get a few more inches. The dimensions of the shelves are in the beginning of the video. As long as the acrylic is cut to the same size as the shelf you ordered, where the shelves are placed is irrelevant.
@@Hiddendimension1 Thanks. I'm tracking. I know the height of the overall unit but I need to get acrylic the exact size, So for example, the overall unit is 60" but it appears the first shelf starts about an inch or two up so I would need to order acylic at 58/59".
Yo, sorry for all the questions. I received the LEDs you posted link at Amazon today and I tested them to see if they all work. I did noticed a small yellow ball type reflecting off the mini LED to surface..do yours have that issue, I mean it isnt that bad, but just checking if all are like that.
Would you be able to install risers ? As well as adjust the middle shelf. I think this would be perfect for 1/6 scale figures and I was looking for something to showcase quite a few figures at once. Also one more thing as far as the lighting goes would you recommend these same style lights for what I’m going for ? Or would you say maybe the led strips in the cool white colorwith the V style paneling ?
This looks amazing. Ima have to watch this video like 3x. It looks like a Moducase. Now the shelving unit I have is in grey. Should I spray paint black cause I do want it all blacked out with no white or can I also cover the inside with Vinyl tape making it all black? Thanks for any advice. Thanks for the great in detail video.
@@Hiddendimension1 thanks man I am going to do that with a gloss black. What did you use for the backboard? Where did you get that? I’m having a hard time finding a thick black poster board that’s at least 36” wide
@@Hiddendimension1 I just purchased the 2 sheets of acrylic from your link. Appreciate all the work. I can’t wait to get everything and make this cause the end product is amazing. Basically a moducase.
Thanks for this DIY video! I have the industrial shelves and was thinking of how to get the acrylic glass to mount. Where did you get the vinyl wrap at? I didn't see a link to them posted. I was also thinking of a way to get magnets to stick the acrylic glass, and glue the opposite magnet to the metal shelves so they could just mount on and off easily then cover it up with vinyl.
Hey mate love this build doing 3 myself and a bit different one later thanks for the video just wanted to know what the thickness of the acrylic sheet cheers from downunder
I’m in Louisiana too aka New Orleans I just bought the Gladiator shelves 5 tier 36 in W, 72 in H, 18 in D. This is my first time ever buying these shelves I believe they’re adjustable and I won’t need all five of the shelves because I have 1/4 scale statues coming well I’ll be good?
Nice video. I’m about to do this but does it matter what Velcro side you put on the case vs the acrylic? Like hard Velcro on case soft Velcro on acrylic? Or does it not matter?
It doesn’t matter but I’m glad I put the soft part on the acrylic on mine so when I pull the acrylic off it’s softer on my hands and the edges being a Soft is good if you need to lean it or lay the sheet down for any reason.
@@Hiddendimension1 perfect! Thank you so much for the quick replay as I said I’m doing it RIGHT NOW and wanted to be sure before I committed lol. Thanks again I love it!
I just assemble mine 😅 but were I joined the upper and bottom part cover the holes leaving one shelf with like 30 inches and the other with 22 inches? Like I thought i was gonna be right at the middle but one ins bigger than the other 😅 did this happen to you ? ?? Idk if you understand what im trying to say 😂
This is awesome. I only have a few statues and I would get Moducase but it would look weird if my statues are all low on the ground. I think I’m going to try this display for my 1/4 scale Marvel statues
BEAUTIFUL! So dope Sir! Question, what’s the clearance on each shelf? (Meaning with that exact set-up, what’s the tallest piece I can put on each of those shelf’s).
The link of curtains you have in the description is for curtains 30in not 36 making them to short for the stand. Do you have a link to the 36x84 curtains ?
@@Hiddendimension1 okay thank you man ima do this can wait for it and see how it look and thank you for listing everything I watched the video 3 times and it blow my mind every time it just looks to good

Great video! Shelves look great!
Hi can i ask? Is the vinyl you use to cover the acrylic glass in front is same to like electrical vinyl tape? Thanks! Nice display case also
just stumbled on your video looking for ideas to display my ever growing collection thats still all in boxes. out of curiosity did you think about mounting acrylic with magnets?
If these came a bit taller and with 4 shelves instead of 2 I'd grab these in a second. I'm not a statue buyer I'm more of a 6" and hot toys size buyer . I love these though for sure, nice setup and idea !
RetrOBoYOnE 357 these came with 5 shelves but for my statues it made them 3 shelf units. If you used all 5 it would be perfect for 1/6 figures
The darth maul statue is prolly the most dope sht I've ever seen in my life .
I would let half the tape hang off the edge of the acrylic and used a razor blade to trim it. Hope that helps
Wondering I could just use some black tape..
Heather Condon thanks! Definitely the best bang for the buck. Let me know if you have any questions!
This is sooooo effing awesome! Gonna be making these with a relative. Sick of the detolfs.
Same
2 questions -- if you didn't want to do the fabric, do you think painting shelves would work okay?
Thanks
So I don’t know what polycarbonate is but my glass is 1/8” thick and it’s perfect.
Dam, that’s one if the nicest displays I’ve seen
Nice video dude. Given me some ideas for my set up. Might have to put in some step platforms for smaller figures and collectables 🤔
I just the link..but there out of stock..dang. I can always get the 72in high..but it's more expensive. Very helpful video. I'll save to follow and how I can do this as well.
Thank you bro, I have the same shelving units and been trying to make them look better and came across your video on a Facebook page. Definitely know the humidity problems I'm in the New Orleans area too but anyway awesome collection you got, keep up the great work and videos
djchaos2685 hell yeah man always glad to hear from a local.
Fantastic. Great information thank you
That's really a decent idea.
Cool :).
Amazing! Going to watch the updated video as well. +1 sub!
I believe if you add a some more of thoses led lights you have on front towards the back it will illuminate the shelves more. Maybe 3 more in the back on both shelves, other than that it looks fantastic!!!
Wonder what’s best using the magnet tape or the Velcro for the acrylic
Awesome set up. Definitely going to go with this. Especially since I collect 1/4 scale statues along with hot toys and my deltofs aren’t enough anymore. Been looking for a new set up.
Marcos Solorio I did all this bc I was in the exact same situation. So glad I could help. Share and tell your ppl!
This is sick!
The shelving unit i am looking at is 72H X 48W X 24D . Do you have any suggestions on what fabric to use ? My concern is that if i use two of the ones you posted it wouldn't look as clean with a divider line . Any advice would be appreciated .
You can find wider fabric at a fabric stor e
Hey mate looks like the extension cables are sold out. Any idea where else I could get them from?
Can you please tell me where I can the display case with LED’s . The name of it , or link to a website would be great
Yo, sorry for all the questions. I received the LEDs you posted link at Amazon today and I tested them to see if they all work. I did noticed a small yellow ball type reflecting off the mini LED to surface..do yours have that issue, I mean it isnt that bad, but just checking if all are like that.
I didn’t experience that
Would you be able to install risers ? As well as adjust the middle shelf. I think this would be perfect for 1/6 scale figures and I was looking for something to showcase quite a few figures at once. Also one more thing as far as the lighting goes would you recommend these same style lights for what I’m going for ? Or would you say maybe the led strips in the cool white colorwith the V style paneling ?
Risers would be a great idea. And you can use all of the shelves for a smaller figures I just took some out because mine are larger
I would paint them black
@@Hiddendimension1 thanks man I am going to do that with a gloss black. What did you use for the backboard? Where did you get that? I’m having a hard time finding a thick black poster board that’s at least 36” wide
@@Hiddendimension1 I just purchased the 2 sheets of acrylic from your link. Appreciate all the work. I can’t wait to get everything and make this cause the end product is amazing. Basically a moducase.
awesome! thanks for showing us!
ActionJackson83 the website is Uscutter.com there’s a screen shot of the website in the video. Sorry thought i added the link.
Could you post a link to Adam's post? You said his was a different size. Im curious to see what his looks like.
Hey mate love this build doing 3 myself and a bit different one later thanks for the video just wanted to know what the thickness of the acrylic sheet cheers from downunder
1/8” thick- good luck with the build
@@Hiddendimension1 cheers mate appreciate it
Great video..I was actually looking to get this garage shelves also..lol
Where did you get the standing ones and lights ?? Need one for my knife collection
Yeah should be fine
Greg Rome it’s a particularly good solution for 1/4 scale
Great video! I already order everything except for the black vinyl strip, i dont see the link to that. Can you share me the link please?

BEAUTIFUL! So dope Sir! Question, what’s the clearance on each shelf? (Meaning with that exact set-up, what’s the tallest piece I can put on each of those shelf’s).
About 33” or so
Awesome
The link of curtains you have in the description is for curtains 30in not 36 making them to short for the stand. Do you have a link to the 36x84 curtains ?
I guess they changed the link. You can Google the size you need
Thanks a lot for the video. I made one also!
Nice!
Im doing this okay the velcro got glue already and can you open and close the doors anytime you want to???
Yes the Velcro acts like a hinge when you open it from one side
@@Hiddendimension1 okay thank you man ima do this can wait for it and see how it look and thank you for listing everything I watched the video 3 times and it blow my mind every time it just looks to good
I’m from Louisiana to if you ever get into making and selling these I’d definitely be a buyer recently I’ve been buying a lot of old horror figures
Good to know thanks
