Having considering getting Detolf cabinets to display items completely unrelated to this, out of a bunch of videos I have watched, this is the first one I have seen where the host actually knows about lighting effects! It's really an excellent video, and his cabinets are lit beautifully. I have seen far too many videos where excessive amounts of LED strips are used and the lighting is overly bright and glaring, while the cabinet is completely evenly light in cool white light giving a sterile and totally boring look. Then add to that so many folks don't use diffusers over the strips, the strips and wiring being visible and messy. This video and the cabinets themselves are truly a breath of fresh air!
It's been a while but I need to give some ❤ to thee UA-cam video that shaped the foundation of my collecting journey. The time, money and effort you invested in your space and VIDEO is mad inspiring and definitely caused an infectious ripple effect in the collecting community. 🐐🏆
This video and your youtube channel is TOP QUALITY just like your collection and everything you do. Just shows how much work you put into this. It's amazing. Love your personality, energy, voice, charisma, and knowledge. You are a BOSS! Love the timestamps also. Everything here is HIGH QUALITY.
Best display i have ever seen on youtube! I would love to see an Ikea bookshelf, cabinet, vitrin tips and rivew, for displaying purposes! The views on this chanel is so inderrated
Sir, your lighting display system looks absolutely awesome! So impressive!!! Thank you for your tips. I nearly go with general led tubes for my tanks collection. But I changed my mind. Thank you sir!
I just found your channel (and sub’d!!) because I was having a creative crisis of my own! THANK YOU for the awesome tips! You’ve given me so much to think about with many options! I can’t wait to see your other vids! 😎✌🏾
Hey there! Great videos. Noticed in your description and in other comments you talk about your Besta display cabinets. You mention you "did a few tweaks" to them. Would love a video or description on what you did to make them look so nice as well as the specific cabinets you bought. Are you stacking single frame cabinets? Is it one of the Besta shelving units? I'm sure you are asked this a lot but I'm new to the collecting scene and I'm really trying to nail my shelf investments down. Stuck between these and Moducase. Any help is appreciated!
Awesome tips. Just found your channel. Im hooked! I'm a collector as well and dig your set up alot. Gonna model my set up after yours! Keep up the great work collecting and displaying! Looking forward to more videos brother!
Thx man! I really needed this right now 😂 I’m in my fourth remake of my mancave/movie room🤦🏻♂️😂 it’s hard to tie it all together and still get a “theme” and not just another room filled with stuff🥴
Hey man I have a serious question. My Funko pop boxes and Marvel Legends boxes have been fading in color. I left my 6000k led strips on for over a year 24/7. I thought that they wouldn't fade the colors, but they did on some of my boxes, which sucks. What would you suggest to fix the problem? Besides turing off your lights. I feel like the LED lights I chose are part of the problem. Could they? Lastly what type of neutral light would you recommend? I feel so stupid.
Some LEDs (especially blue, if I remember correctly) produce a tiny amount of UV light. it seems hard to image it would be enough to fade your boxes. But 24hr a day, it's possible. Are they exposed to ANY window light? Are the LED's crazy bright? I know those boxe prints are prone to fading, but I'm not sure what makes them so sensitive. The only fool proof way might be to get UV clear plastic protectors for each box. That should cut down fading really dramatically. But, it's comes at a cost.
@kevdeovideo Sorry for responding really late. So yes, the lights are bright white, and they were on full brightness. I have since then started cutting them off when not on use, and I've started putting them on lower brightness settings. They're the same brightness as the strips @0:56.
Just found your channel .. good job man 👍🏻👍🏻 have a question can you tell us exactly what kind of cabinet your using in this video and which glass door and lighting.. loved it and want to do the same
@@khaledelturk hey dude, sorry i missed your comment! These are ikea Bestas, but these doors are discontinued. Which sucks. The lights are Ikea LED spotlights. I have not used the moducase lights myself, but they look really sharp from what I've seen. Might be worth exploring.
I noticed Ikea don't have your lights anymore, so do you have any other go to LED spotlights like the Inreda? Also, do you think Velcro on the bottom of a light like that would be better than just the 3M tape?
I have not found the perfect replacement for my spotlights yet, but I’m still looking. As far as Velcro goes, you have to get the high-quality stuff. Velcro adhesive tends to break down over time into a sticky mess that comes loose. 3M’s foam double-sided tape is really strong, just about permanent. I would still recommend mechanically mounting your lights with screws, if possible.
Your videos are really slick, the dialogue flows really well with interesting information. Did I see a glimpse of a Cylon bust? Could you do a video on this, looks interesting?
Thx so.much for the video. Unfortunately when I setup my display I only out the led lighting on the top shelf of my Beats Cabinets because I didn't know how many shelves I would have per cabinet. Because of statue size I wasn't sure. Still looks good though but might out spotlights now on each shelf. Your display is impeccable. I don't like Busts but in ur display it's just stunning, Especially that T2 in rock. 😎. Great info on the video. Thx so much for sharing!!!
Great video, do you think under cabinet lighting like Parlat LED Under Cabinet Light Rigel, Each 31,3cm, 40cm Cable, 400lm, would be suitable? I know it's not a strip but it's a shell right. Complete novice here. They use the term lumens. 400 lumens per light. Thanks for your help!
Great advice. I just commented a question on your other video which should really be in this one. Here's my other, where would be the best position for LED strips? From the top over the far back, middle or front?
When mounted on top, Somewhere between middle and front is usually the sweet spot. But, it does depend on what you are displaying. As always, I recommend taping your LEDs into position, just to test it out, before mounting
That’s the biggest problem I’m having with my Displays! I did everything that you suggested except I opted for those bloody cheap lights and that’s going to change!
My doors were from IKEA, but they are now discontinued. IKEA does have some alternatives, but they are a little different. The original ones were called “Tombo”
Best display ever. I am sick of seeing these led white strip lights making display look so bad. Can you please tell me what cabnits are you using? Are they Bestas? Or some other by IKEA?
@@kevdeovideo yes bestas are no longer the same and even the glass doors are changed now. Ikea also discontinued detolfs in black. Don't know what they are doing really.
Just came across your channel and subscribed. Love your content! What are your opinions on the small spotlights that you talked about in this video? I know you recommend to shine the light down. But those spotlights can be rotated and dialed in to actually shine a light on the statue itself, and I’m thinking of putting them on the front bottom corner of the display and rotate the light to shine on my statues. Thoughts?
Spotlights work well for a statue, or any other single large display item.. they don’t look so well with multiple small figures and you’re better off with led bars for those
What is your take on Moducases? Worth the money? Im thinking of going with spotlights in warm white! Similar to your display, I prefer WARMER tones aswell, by far!
Sorry for the late reply to this! I'm not a huge moducase fan myself. I like how adjustable they are, but the overall look just isn't for me. +1 for warm white!
That ghost in the shell head is breathtaking

Solid FREAKING VIDEO!!!!! This is by far one of the coolest set ups I’ve seen . I would love to see a more of these set ups for displays !

Where can i find tye spotlights at 1:13?
Very well informed advice, looks fantastic, thanks.
Fantastic set up. Can you tell me which shelves are these? Super cool looking

You're dred collection is dope.
Great vid and awesome friggin collection!
Amazing tips bro.
I've done panel triming (about an inch) over my plywood shelfs to hide the LEDs.
This is always a good idea. Make a huge difference.

Keep at it. Getting any legit display in order takes time and experimentation.
What kind of cabinets do you use
Mine are Ikea Bestas with Tombo doors
Awesome video ! I've got a lot of detolf glass cabinets, any tips for lighting them nicely
For sure. There is a seller (Etsy I think) who makes custom lighting kits for detolf. Already sized and ready to go. Very hard to beat that!

How did you run the wires on the inside of the besta displays by each shelf? Trying to figure out how to do it with my own without looking messy
What type of case do you have your prop blasters and firearms displayed in?
Those are ikea billy cases, with morliden doors.
Just found your channel .. good job man 👍🏻👍🏻 have a question can you tell us exactly what kind of cabinet your using in this video and which glass door and lighting.. loved it and want to do the same

Hi may I know what IKEA display you're using?
What cabinets are these called and from where?
Which besta do use for the super wide props? Like the long rectangular ones?
i use floating shelves for my 6 inch figures with rgb strip backlighting. for my bigger display i use pucks. is that good?

Yes, a bunch of the IKEA lighting options have brackets for small screws.
Your videos are really slick, the dialogue flows really well with interesting information.
Did I see a glimpse of a Cylon bust? Could you do a video on this, looks interesting?
Yes, that's one of my favorite builds! Collaboration with Kropserkel. Great idea.

I want to use a baseball bat display case to display my funko pops. What would you recommend the type of lights to install in the cabinets?
If i'm imagining this right...LED strip, on the top (aiming down). I would look into an LED bar that has a hard shell with built-in diffusion.
Great vid, other display videos have really bad lighting, you did a great job on that though.
WHERE DID YOU GET THE CASES ???
Where did you get that EE-3 blaster? I needs it.
It's a real webley flare gun, heavy modified. I've considered selling it!

Those are IKEA billy, with morliden doors. Excellent combo for little stuff. The glass shelves are helpful for smalls.
My guy you get it! mine is in a dark gaming room. Don't want those bright ass led strips
Fyi for anyone who goes with strip led. The remote has a dimmer so its not bright
This is a great video. But do you have the details. Cabenits/lights/timer. I understand each display is different.
this collection is sweet... Great advice & tips! Thanks mate. This dude is the Jeffrey Dahmer of collectors.
