Thank you, Karina! I always love an elevated tee, and it's even better when it's a free pattern. You have made it even more versatile by showing us how to add sleeves.
I love this!!! Thank you, Karina! I wish your YT videos were a show on regular TV to take over from Nancy Zieman, but with only clothing and no quilting! You would surely win many TV Emmy awards!!! 🧵🪡
Lovely tops -- thanks for raising my awareness of a new-to-me designer! Little tip for future reference, though -- if you're going to show off a shirt which is special because of the details on the shoulders, make sure those lovely details aren't hidden behind your hair and the strap of your bag in the reveal videos. 🙂
Karina you did it again! Always inspiring and encouraging us. Loved all the makes…hard to choose a favorite…but the blue Swiss dot with white denim skirt was stunning. I agree we all need a white denim skirt. That one fit you perfectly. Wishing you a fabulous weekend. Besitos 💋💨
I really like Atelier Scammit tops, because, as you say, they always have cute details that elevate a simple style. I made a Déclic in some leftover lightweight poplin and it worked well because I went down a size to create a more fitted look but now I can see how nice it would look in a more drapey fabric - and with sleeves!
Great content Karina! I love Atelier Scammit, their patterns are well drafted and easy to put together I find, even with limited experience. I have a few blouse patterns from them. Your pronunciation is spot on as well, the é is pronounced like "hey" without the "h". Love your videos, thanks so much. Brigitte
I just found your channel. I will subscribe. As a beginner, I think that this is something simple enough at a beginner level that I can try. I appreciate all the information and hack ideas that you give ahead of time to help us prepare for the journey. I love how you talk us through the process and show us the work at the machine. A lot of UA-camrs lack these fundamental and important steps. I hate when they just blare with music and point with a finger and add a narrative over the screen to "cut" or to "hem" or whatever. It's so impersonable and misses the point that these are "tutorials". Bonus point for you that you found a free pattern for us! Thank you for being so thorough. The top came out really nice and you look beautiful in it!
Thank you for the review. I have this cut out ready to sew. Thanks for the how to add sleeves. I’m going to add a collar so that it looks like an elevated Donny blouse. So many things we can do to change up a pattern.
Wow, all 3 are lovely! The plumb with the patterned Skye is my pick of the bunch. But they were all fantastic. It’s good to see how you shortened that armhole. I don’t like people being able to see in one sleeve hole and out the other either. Even with the inch out of it, it was still a comfortable opening.
Thank you so much for the tip on the pattern and of course the sewing tips/tutorial. As a fairly new garment sewist, you are my 'go to' teacher whenever i am struggling or want to learn a new technique. I will now look for a tutorial about interfacing types. Not sure if you have done one but i chose an interface that was too stiff for my muslin and now need to find a lighter one for material such as the one you used in this tutorial for my 'real' garment. :-)
Thank you Karina, I’ll download this top now as I have a few pieces of viscose left over from making tops and think I’ll have enough to make this top. We are in Spring now here in Australia and a few of these tops will be great for summer. 🧵🪡
Thank you for another great free pattern. I have really gotten into hand basting since I started watching your channel. I use up my mom's & mil's old thread for that & I like doing that 😊 Can't wait to give this pattern a go.
I was anxiously awaiting this video after your sneak peak last week! I am thrilled to see that it is a free pattern. I just ordered some solid challis for some shell's to wear with my figure skirts and cardigans. I didn't necessarily want all of them to have side bust darts and this one fit the bill perfectly! I love your options to add sleeves as well! As always, you share such valuable information so we do not have to buy a TON of patterns to get the looks we want.
So beautiful! I love that color of blue, it looks gorgeous on you! I just found your channel and I am hooked! Thank you for sharing your amazing skills with us!
I appreciate that! I have preferred the growth to be natural and organic. I am in no rush and at this point, about 1000 new people subscribe every month .
As always Karina, I love your makes! Love the pink shorts. 😊 Thank you for your encouragement, I’ve learnt so much since I started watching your channel! 💐
printing out right now:) will make soon.... Thanks for all your great makes!!! LOVE LOVE the plum! What is the secret for adding a sleeve without a pattern.... 50 year of sewing I have never done it!
I just love your videos on how to elevate a look and you went above and beyond with this free top! I already had this pattern in my collection but have not sewed it yet. I like the short and long-sleeved versions so now I can't wait to make this up. Thank you so much!!
This video came at the perfect time. I was just struggling to find a free pattern for woven top as I have 1,5m leftover from making a skirt. This will be perfect 🥰
A lovely informative video.l am in love with this pattern at the moment and you have given me the inspiration to try out more adaptations. Thank you so much
Gorgeous tops Karina! I will have to go have a look at the website. French tip - the acute accent makes the E hard like deep rather than soft like depth (who would have thought my high school French had real world application 45 years later).
Lovely blouse. Any chance you'd share mistakes or bloopers? Everything you make/sew seems perfect. I've been sewing 50+ years and have made lots of mistakes---some crying, some laughing. It might be reassuring to beginners to see even you make boo-boos! Just a thought. LOVE your channel!!!
Ive shared a few fails on the channel in the past, but to be honest, they happen very far between at this point. I take all the measures to make sure I check the pattern, choose the right size, make all the fitting changes, a test garment and then the sewing is slower and careful. I don’t rush any of the process and that has given me a lot of success. I apologise I can’t really provide that type of content frequently.
I studied our European sizes and they match the circumference of the hips in inches. Although, there are also French and Italian sizes here, which are two sizes smaller than the standard European ones. The size called European is actually German if it matches the hips. That size makes the most sense to me because it is not a random number. It is often written DE/FR/IT.
Do you have any videos showing how you do your hand basting? I love that step in your work and as a beginner I feel like it would be helpful. I don’t mind the extra steps at all in order to get a nice finish.
I don’t have any specific video because I really don’t see how to make a video about that. I just sew by hand, big stitches and do it a little away from where I will do the seam. I suggest you don’t try to overcomplicate something simple that does not need to look pretty at all.
Just downloaded the pattern. When you hand baste is it better to have the garment flat on the table or can you have the garment on your lap while hand basting?

I like how you sewed the back facing down. It’s done like that in ready to wear so often, too. Very pretty!
Thanks for your tips and techniques Karina, much appreciated. I just purchased that pattern and am looking forward to sewing it up.💕👍
I've got his one but haven't made it up yet! Thanks for the inspiration! Love yours
What a great make. Thanks for the free pattern link. Perfect for layering as seasons change.

Karina, you have done it again! All so beautiful. I don’t even know which is my favorite… they all are, I guess. ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial . Downloaded this free pattern and look forward to making this up .
I downloaded the Declic blouse and will try out the two versions very soon. Love it!
Wonderful!
Such a cute top!

Thank you Karina, I have just downloaded the pattern. A French company that I like is Atelier Jupe…
Wonderful! I'll check them out :)
I have the top downloaded already. I will try it out this week. Thank you Karina. Love it.
Have fun!

yup, makes sense because I sew size 46 and my hips are 46 inches :)

@@LiftingPinsandNeedles thank you so much for the speedy response and suggestions. Loving your content!
Hey, I am the first one here. I like the shoulder pleats.
Me too!
All of your Declic tops are beautiful! I love a free pattern and look forward to making several with and without sleeves. Thank you, Karina.
Yes, it is déclic, the sound the camera makes. I guess click in English? Also used figuratively for "Aha moment".
I'd love to learn french :)
❤
Just downloaded the pattern. When you hand baste is it better to have the garment flat on the table or can you have the garment on your lap while hand basting?
For regular seams, the lap is fine. For facings, I like them flat on the table :)
@@LiftingPinsandNeedles Thank you Karina.
Do you ever mix seam finishings? For example, serging the shoulder seams and then french seams on the sides?
Not really because the reason I didn’t do them on the shoulders is the same reason I would not want them on the hem :) so it’s all or nothing lol
Thank you Karina. Love your work.😊What is the pattern you are wearing in the video?
Savannah dress from 5oo4 patterns. I have a video about it :)
Karina, with the long sleeves, did you just extend the short sleeve with extra length for blousing?
Have a look at the previous video. I show there how I created both on the same paper.
will do, thanks :)@@LiftingPinsandNeedles
