    This video covers my overall review of the Tesla Model Y Long Range AWD. In it, I take a look at this electric crossover SUV's exterior styling, interior materials, build quality, and talk about what it's like to drive. I hope to help answer the question, is this best electric vehicle that you can buy in 2024?
    Some of my favorite Tesla Model Y's features include the 15 inch touchscreen that is extremely responsive, the Tesla operating system, HEPA filter, and more. I definitely enjoyed my time reviewing the Model Y and am strongly considering buying one as my second EV, along with my ID4.
    This particular Model Y has a blue metallic exterior and black interior with the wood material. It has an EPA estimated 330 miles of range, 19 inch wheels, heated front and rear seats, and had full self driving (FSD) that was purchased with it.

      Well, sorry but you missed the point here a little. DB only measure part of the spectrum. A low droning noise for example (most important in cabin noise) is not measured by dB. I think a subjective test would be more valuable here.

I have to say subjectively though, the result of the cabin noise test is the same and yes, I was very surprised as my model 3 from a couple of years ago was relatively loud on the highway at speeds of 70mph+. Tesla has some pretty nice seats... definitely top 3 but not the best. Aside from Rolls Royce and Mercedes S Class, the best seats I've experienced in a mainstream car are those in Volvos and the Probax seats Lotus uses in Elise and Exige... they usually specialize in orthopedic seats for marine applications.

      It's relative I guess. For me, they are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in, but a Tesla is also the most expensive car I have ever been in as well. I come from a Ford Escort/Early 90's Hyundai Elantra type of background. For me, the Tesla seats were like the clouds parting, angels singing, and a ray of sunlight coming through a thunderous sky, with a four leaf clover sprouting in a green field where the sunlight hits, type of reaction when I sat in them for the first time. Glad to hear they compare favorably to really expensive car seats though.

      Car wash brushes destroy paint. I recommend that no one take a car they car about through one unless it is a last resort. Some say Tesla's paint is weak, I've seen conflicting information on that. The paint on this Model Y looks like it was destroyed by the car wash though.

      I think the issue is entirely with taking ANY brand of car through a car wash. Especially dark colours. I just wouldn’t do it. If a muddy 4x4 went in before you, you may as well sand paper your car as grit will be on the foam strips. Only ever use Touch less car washes if you can’t be bothered hand washing IMHO.
      There was def issues with early early model 3 paint quality but a significant amount of evidence as investigated or explained by experts says that modern Teslas are on par with BMW etc for mass production car paint quality.
      What I’m saying is that in 2022 I don’t think it’s necessarily correct to single out tesla for having poor paint quality as you wouldn’t take a bmw or a Porsche through a car wash and not expect the same damage with micro scratches.
      ua-cam.com/video/ghqpKtprfKA/v-deo.html
      This is worth a quick watch to fact check.
      For reference I was talking about this the other day to my neighbor. His $120,000 bmw looks like this Tesla. And my 3Yo Tesla looks like new - and I use a car cover at work!!!

    Excellent review. The interior noise comparison with the Audi was particularly interesting. In an interview, Elon described the process Tesla used to develop the seats for the Model 3 & Y. Hi Edwin. I believe the noise you are referring to is the whine from the electric motor. How much you can hear may vary in the Model Y vehicle to vehicle but if you want to hear the least amount, go with a rear wheel drive version. It is likely you will hear some whine though. @@evhelphub thanks for your reply and you think the ID4 a better value than your previous Tesla model 3?

    • @evhelphub
      @evhelphub  2 роки тому +1

      That's difficult to say. I recommend most shoppers go with a Pro S ID4 with the base wheels and no gradient package. The current price for that configuration in the US is $45k. If you qualify for the federal tax credit, that cost is "only" $38k vs $45k for the base RWD Model 3. But the Model 3 is a small sedan and not a crossover SUV so it has a lot less cargo room. Even though the Model 3 is rated to have more range, I'd say it is actually close to being equal, with the edge going to the Model 3 on the highway. The Model 3 has a better infotainment system and can charge faster. It also is faster 0-60 and handles better.
      To that end, if you do not want an SUV-like vehicle (we did), than the RWD Model 3 is probably the better choice, but will be 15-20% more expensive. If you want to compare it to the AWD Model 3, then cost starts to become a big factor and if cost is a top priority, the ID4 will likely win. I loved my AWD Model 3 and only sold it to purchase a LR Model S, which I am waiting on. It was a great car for us for the year that we owned it!

      Just in case you haven't seen my other video, I own an ID4 and have owned a Model 3. Of course both are great cars. The ID4 here in the states is a better value, in my opinion, but not the best vehicle of the two. If you are *less* budget conscious, I'd say go for the Model Y LR specifically because of the better tech and range. In terms of practicality, one thing many people don't realize is how good the turning radius is on the ID4, which let's you fit in to tighter spots than the Model Y.
