@@HikmaHistory It just so happened that europe modernised first, because it was the most dominant power at the time and still is. Perhaps, modernity would have been a natural progression for other countries too, if they had followed a similar and successful path to world domination if they were so inclined, or if their civilisational development and evolution hadnt been interrupted by european colonial expansion...who knows? Whatever may be the case, the so called 'western' values of democracy, freedom, open society etc, are not the exclusive preserve of one section of humanity. These ideals belong to us all, and are things we should all strive towards as a common heritage of collective human advancement and progress.

I'm a Brit, living in Turkey for 7 years, married to a Turk. I've been here through two elections and I would argue that the hero worship of Atatürk (whom I do respect greatly) is actually holding back the Turkish left.
It is almost impossible to have a discussion about Atatürk without it being taken very personally. Atatürk is viewed as being almost unquestionably perfect, but at the same time he is presented as being many different things to many different people. Atheists believe that his personal letters show he was an atheist, secular Muslims believe his speeches show he was a secular Muslim and Conservative Muslims believe his actions show that he was a dictator. He has become a myth, and believing a myth, especially one so recent, becomes disempowering. If a myth created the nation, then "we" cannot change the nation and must simply wait for the next mythological character to come along.
The Turkish left is obsessed with going back to a past (one that never really existed because Atatürk never truly realised his vision, it was being pulled apart while he still lived and was dead 5 years after his death).
I reiterate, Atatürk was a remarkable man, that achieved incredible things that no other did in this period. But, he was human, flawed, complex, and often wrong. If we don't deal with this and still view him as the myth, then we can't move forward. Turkey will never retake it's place as one of the most important pieces of land in the world, unless it starts to look to the future rather than fantasising about the past.

Please don’t mis inform people that he was Jewish. He was of a Türkmen background. He had shut down the Masonic establishments. He believed in Islam and his Turkic culture and was very proud of it. He converted the Kuran into Turkish because his people didn’t speak or understand Arabic so he wanted them to know their wholly book and learn and respect its values. During the Ottoman rule less then 10% of the people knew how to read and write but after him majority knew. He was truly a genius and way ahead of his time. Brother, thank you for making this documentary. I enjoyed how you presented the chronology and transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Turkish Republic. Though I want to elaborate on some "facts" you are presenting about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk that I found utmost disturbing. Have you had dived deeper in the history of the Turks (meaning not only the Ottoman Empire, but also those before, you would have discovered both parents of Mustafa Kemal (the mother more definite than his father) were from Turkish nomadic descent (Yörüks). In the history of Turkish Empires (Ottoman, Seljuks etc.) nomads were primarily moved/located to the edges of the empire, including to the newly conquered grounds. There is a wisdom behind this. Since the Ottoman Empire stretched out and held control over the Balkans and Greece for decades, the likelihood of Atatürk having nomadic roots is higher than having any other ethnic background. The quote on quote "fact" that Atatürk was a crypto-jew (Donmeh) is utterly false and tends to smear, most likely due to your opinion about his politics of seperating religion from the state. As you mention in the documentary, some people hate him because of this reason and find him to be a traitor to the Ottoman Empire and Islam. Then again, in Judaism the religious status (being a Jew) is passed on from generation to generation by mothers and the tribal designation by the father. In neither of these cases, factually, it can be confirmed that Atatürk has been Jewish.

We know his background, it has been made public with documents. His mother’s as well as his father’s. This campaign to make Atatürk a Villain is to conceal the Arab role and their cooperation with the British to bring down the Ottomans. Of course their outright ignorance as well.

Because of this Turkey had an unique stance during WW2 and the rest of the regional countries had no choice to join the allies or the axis powers because they had no choice in the matter. Furthermore nationalist sentiments or the cry for reforms weren't that uncommon also having coups. This strange backwards made up notion that somehow he's a spy for saving something that others tried to erase on the map is utter nonsense and has a political slander mentality. Also the real spy a real example is Thomas Edward Lawrence who helped the Arab revolt and has full credit in his achievements as well therefore gaining British dominance on the levant region. Not to mention that the Turks brought Islam further expanding it not the other way around as there's no Islamic identity or politcal movement and during the fall of the Ottomans poverty, instability, illiteracy, dividing factions, population decline was very well known and was drastically solved with an iron grip on his behalf wich is a huge feat even gaining respect from other nations on the political stage stopping further invasions into Anatolia. Even religion cannot stand in the way against the state wich is a cultural mindset of the Turks. I'm an avid consumer of News and History because it all has relevance to today's geopolitical conflicts and regional sentiments. The Ottomans left a HUGE mark on history. The decisions of European Powers on what to do with the former Empire's territories has had a lasting effect to this day and will continue on for quite a while. Today I was searching for info on the history of Gaza and, of course, one can not escape the massive role of the British/French on the Levant and how their decisions set the stage for the events that just took place in the past 2 days.
It's fucking sad that the Israelis basically discount the 1900 or so years of regional history that's occurred since the destruction of Jerusalem by the Romans. The Jews essentially fled the region and their former neighbors moved in. It's been THEIR land for centuries, almost 2 millenia! Talk about selfishness.... I don't believe that there's another example in human history where a group of people returns to their ancestral homeland after hundreds & hundreds of years to then perpetrate upon the local populace the horrors of what they themselves fled... The Israelis are quite forgetful or they're just living in cognitive dissonance to the extreme. Ugh... but back to THIS VIDEO. GREAT JOB! Loved every second of it. Turkey is a made-up nation, most of the ‘Turks’ are just Anatolians, Levantines, mixed in with HUGE Balkan contribution in the North due to the 7 million Muslim Balkanites who fled to Turkey after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, and with some Armenian and Kurdish too. The Turkic makeup is near nonexistent in the modern “Turkish” population. It’s why the original Turks looked rather Mongoloid in the surviving paintings from the Abbasid Empire.

He modernized Turkiye and its people, he gave us modern education, secularism, national identity, human rights, a place in the modern world. Ataturk haters are all islamic fundamentalists or ethnical separatists. There have always been those traitors who hated Ataturks reforms as they wanted Turkiye remain as a religious , backward country. But the majority of the Turkish nation understands the meaning of those reforms, appreciate the mentality of real Kemalism and know that we own our existance as a sovereign nation to Ataturk and his friends. In spite of the fact that Ataturk may be regarded as a hero by some, the fact of the matter is that when he advocated for western reforms with the Ottomans, such hero worship and reforms on his part appear to have only succeeded in esagerbate further future reactionary movements in the future. There is a truth that is often overlooked, and that is the fact that the Turks did not appear to regard the Arabs as being on an equal footing with them. Instead, they only advocated for western reforms, which ultimately resulted in the creation of competition among themselves. The Palisiltinians were never able to be successfully governed by them throughout the entirety of their history. fascist indealism and fought against ethnic minorities that had been located there prior to the rise of the fascist and radical movements.

The steel-colored brightness of [his] eyes shines out of the warrior-like, sunburned brown of [his] face with an uncanny, captivating power. Eyes, within which the supple power and the ruthless will of self-assertion of the Turanian grey wolf twin- kles." Be it Aryan, Turanian, or even Mongolian, or, again perhaps obviously, Prussian-when, in the narratives, Atatürk meets the Kai- ser, Hindenburg, and Ludendorff in 1917-what his appearance and actions reaffirmed was the awakening and the "triumph of race." Schopen concluded:
He is nothing less than the incarnation of all warrior-like na- tions. The Turk is, in his moral qualities, one of the best sol- diers of the world. For him the victorious military Führer stands above everything else. And Mustafa Kemal, mathematician and carrier of soldier blood from his father's line, was a genius of the strategic idea."7
For most of these texts, Atatürk was the ultimate warrior-"battle was his nature."+ Froembgen described him as "a thunderstorm turned man." Melzig said in his Atatürk biography: "In him a he- roic spirit rose to the light from the depth of thousands of years." Froembgen also stressed, "He is a soldier the like of which seldom comes along." Atatürk's prowess in battle was stressed time and again: "The soldiers hesitated to throw themselves into the rain of death. Mustafa Kemal knows, here no order will be enough, here one needs to be a role model, to be a Führer."52 The Führer as a role model for everybody-in battle, for the Turkish farmer with his model farm, but also for the ordinary Turk, when it comes to demeanor, dress, and indeed everything-was a constant theme of these texts.53
Descriptions of Atatürk's aura elevated him to messianistic levels. With his deeds at Gallipoli during World War I, Atatürk emerges in these narratives not only as the imminent savior of Constantino- ple but as a transcendental "savior." Indeed, the formula "savior and Führer" was frequently put forward by some texts. Some stressed that one could feel a special aura, "a magic circle," in his presence he was "the chosen one."

You can talk all the cr*p you want, but numbers are reality and ur secul*r ideological fanaticism is just del*sional.

Ataturk is ome of my favorite figures and definately favorite politician. If it wasn't for him, Turkey would now be something like Afganistan or other sad Muslim countries. I hope that Erdogan is not able to undo all of that

🤡🤡 ata turk left turkey with a gdp of $20B which is equivalent to the GDP of Afghanistan back in 2020 during a war 🤣 he turned turkey into a garb*ge dump that had nothing better to do than k1ll1ng kurds. He set turkey up for being exploited and couped for decades by foreign powers. Erdogan took this tr*sh that ata turk left behind and turned Turkey into the second most powerful country in NATO after the United States. Now turkey has a GDP well over $900B thanks to Erdogan. Âl-i İmrân / 33.
Muhakkak ki Allah Âdem’i, Nûh’u, İbrâhim âilesini ve İmrân âilesini tertemiz bir hülâsa hâlinde seçip bütün insanlık üzerine üstün kılmıştır.
    Bakara / 119. Ayet
