I love the design of the portal too as it’s so comfortable but I’m not sure about that design for a portable handheld, depends on the screen size I guess! Would you be interested in a new PSP console?
I think sadly the dedicated handheld would be alot thicker under the screen because of all the dedicated motherboard with the components and the cooling required to stop it overheating. Portal has very low power requirements and is pretty much a portable TV so can achieve the thin display design without problems.
Portable is the thing of the future especially for Adults. I like playing my portable handhelds while my kids consume my main TV mind you they too love their Switch Lites and my Android handhelds over playing on the TV.
The Portal is just a controller (the best controller ever made), people try to shit on it, but they are thinking about it wrongly. I think a Vita-2 should be a premium device at $400-500. It'll sell well regardless. Just make it high quality
@@purepsx 1080p (720p would probably be fine tbh) definitely OLED, a full 16gb for the high textures (no cut-down BS), PS1 ps2 ps4 compatibility (ps3 and 5 would be amazing, but...) a sleek Sony design, some adaptive triggers if we have PS5 compatibility
The positives of the rumored device is that the PS4 has a huge library. That means that day one, this new portable would have plenty to play. The con with that is that many people have a physical library of those games. Will Sony provide a way (other than repurchasing these titles) to migrate your library to what would seem to be a digital download format? Feature-wise, no more proprietary storage. This thing should have built-in storage (whether that is the soldered route of the PS5 or an internal SDD). Make it expandable with either an NVMe (for that fast PS5 compatibility) and/or a micro SD card. Pricewise the market already accepts the price points of the SteamDecks and other PC portables (Rog Ally, Legion Go, various Ayaneos), provided the Sony device has the right hardware, storage, memory etc... it should come in at a comparable price. Or figure it this way, a PS5 digital comes in at $450, a less powerful Portable with a nice OLED screen could clock in around $600-$800 which would be in line the top Steamdeck, the Rog Ally Extreme and that Legion Go.
I was thinking the same will Sony do a physical to digital transfer scheme for all the people with physical PS4 games. Other than that sounds like this new handheld will work similar to the steam deck, the same games you have on PS4 home console, would be the same games you can carry around with you portable on the go.
What is they just link it to PS Plus for game downloading? I agree with most of the points, I’m not so sure it would sell at $600 to $800 as that’s pretty steep for a device which will no doubt be ring fenced into Sonys ecosystem versus the PC handhelds which can do it all including playing PS5 games which launch on steam for example, I think it would need to be $499 max for it to sell well, either way I am super excited to see how this develops and would pick one up! Also a way to use physical games digitally would be an awesome feature which I’ve never really seen cracked yet! I’d love this as I really try to support physical all the time as I don’t want it to disappear as I think options for gamers is the best for us all! Exciting times ahead for PlayStation
@@purepsx I would certainly prefer something smaller, closer to the size of the vita rather than the steam deck. Maybe somewhere in between to allow it to get the power for the ps4 games it's rumoured to play. I would hope it could play vita games too meaning it should have a rear touch pad.
I'd say it will be decent powerful, will run ps4 games but will have a much newer SoC and newer hardware features like low level ray tracing and things like fsr 2 etc or Sony's version of that which is coming to the ps5 pro. I think this could be great, chuck in remote play support from ps5/ps5 pro as well , wifi 6-7 , oled screen and 👌🏻 will be bliss
I agree! But they need to support this thing, we can’t have another PS Vita or PSVR scenario where they launch and then don’t get much support, but as I mentioned in the video if the devs are just developing for one platform and the games can run on the home console and the handheld it could be a winner as it will get the support it needs! Really hope we don’t need to wait to long to get our hands on one tho! What do you think would be the right price point for a device like you mention for it to be successful?
@@purepsx I think with all these handheld machines releasing recently including switch, it gives Sony a bit of leeway with the price, but at the same time means that they can't go too high north otherwise they will get called out and compared to other devices. I would be pretty happy if it was £399 , as long as it definitely had oled and great battery life and 100% has to have WiFi 6 minimum, ps portal I'm loving at the moment a lot more than I thought , but not having WiFi 6 was a huge mistake when that aspect is so crucial to the device. Similar power to the Rog alley would great if that was feasible. Maybe the ps handheld could be like a series s, whereby the ps5 gets the high level great looking series x style experience, and the new handheld would do the lower quality lesser version. I would be chuffed.
We need another PSP *NOT* another Vita , the PSPs technology was so ahead of its time you can play movies, music, download and emulate games with the SD card slot
A new ACTUAL gaming handheld sounds great, but seeing how awful $ony has been lately, it will probably be like $500, with $200 for headphone support,a proprietary charger sold separately, and a mandatory subscription to PS Plus lol
The interest in handheld consoles never went out. They just sucked big time with the 3DS and Vita. (I loved the 3DS but it was freaking unreasonably underpowered) I got in to Switch just this year with the Switch Lite and its been amazing even for non Nintendo baby game lover.
The 3DS and vita didn’t necessarily suck, they were just seen as irrelevant because people had smartphones and can just play games on those. People don’t really have the same view anymore because things like the steam deck are far superior to a phone.
Yeah the internet in handhelds definitely never went out, when I mention that in this video I mean Sony lost interest in the vita as it wasn’t selling as well as they had hoped. That’s great you are enjoying your switch, I love my switch cuz also it’s an incredible machine! With just amazing exclusive games! Would a new Sony handheld interest you since you are enjoying your switch?
Totally agree and actual handheld is far superior for gaming on than a smartphone, I personally really don’t like gaming on a mobile phones touch screen! Would you be interested in this new handheld console from Sony?
our phones (& tablets. I'd suggest an iPad-mini or similar) have vastly superior screen resolution. There r heaps 3rd party skins, shells, peripherals, handles, gimbals, frames, sticks etc etc. Just devise downloadable apps, don't collect user data & Bob's ya Uncle. I got my 1st & only PSP 2002, love it, yet 2 CFW it (wanna backup UMD content 2 micro SD. Mp3s & most JPEGS off computer easy 2 load/UMD trickier). By 2day's stds the screen's laughable which's why a contemporary ph/tablet would cut 2 the chase .. just add apps. Even this ancient fossil of a Baby-Boomer cant see pt of stand-alone entertainment devices when ur expensive ph/tablet does SOOO much more. Maybe companies like Sony could partner with Apple Store & Google Play in offering gaming peripherals & app content. Having said this, it is fun 2 collect these legacy/retro devices .. I get it.
I'll say next time he'll wait psp2 2026or 2028 or ps5 pro 2025 or 2027 And then ps6 2029 or 2035 🤔What do you think SAMSUNG-PS6 😅🤔Xbox Series Y 2026 or 2028 And then Xbox 720 What do you think LG Xbox3015 😅🤔
As someone who own a psp, I think not. Psp was revolutionary when it came out and the rise in the number of people who started playing games in the recent years might help with sales. Maybe if they did some stupid decision, it will flop.
