The pace of the video is perfect. Enough detail to understand but fast enough to not drag. The lighting is great and the framing works well for a mix of detail but showing enough of the piece for context. Clearly a lot of effort on your part
I find this video quite intuitive and even relaxing to watch. Your finished product came out gorgeous and clean. I particularly liked your technique for the chest plate gem icon and creating that illusion of translucency.
Pacing, detail, and also the fact that you slow down and show certain aspects of what's going on brush wise in good detail! I wish I could give you more of a reason for the intuitive nature of it but its hard to describe. Also the color and quality of the video is super high. Good structure to the whole video too. The steps all make sense. Like the calm music as well.
At the risk of sounding like a broken record. As everyone else stated the pacing is perfect, music is solid choice, you showed the process very thoroughly and neatly. Only thing I can think of potentially adding is maybe adding in the same video your basing process but that's not even a critique since you link the basing video at the end lol. Seriously though grade A work man. Definitely gonna recommend you to friends.
On the topic of custom mixes: when you find a mix you like, buy whatever paint you need to mix your own in mixing pot. I did this for my Custodes and it is 1000% worth the effort to mix my own pot so I don't have to worry about color matching at all down the road.
Absolutely! This is great advice for sure. I have a number of “exclusive Brushstroke” colours for exactly this reason. 👍🏻 Same goes for washes. I have pots of pre-thinned shades and contrast colour to the ratio I like to make it quick and easy to get the same result over and over
Thank you. Glad you found it useful 👍🏻 Keeping a dry paint reference has saved my neck a few times now. Even with a written mixing recipe, the tone can still differ quite a bit. Never hurts to be safe 👍🏻
How do you not have more subscribers, these are the nicest paint jobs i've seen on UA-cam, easy to follow what you're doing also. When i start to paint my army i'll be following these video guides, very nicely done.
I absolutely love your videos! I have learned so much to refine my own painting abilities. The way you constantly repeat and reinforce the basics as you are working through is wonderful. By far my favorite painting channel and I wish there were more videos and more often! I would love to see some zenos races, especially Necrons and Orks!! Hopefully we can see those sometime. Honestly though, I will watch anything and everything you do anyways.
Thank you 🙏🏻 It’s so great to hear you’re enjoying my videos. I would really love to be able to post more videos more often too, but unfortunately the pressures of the day job get in the way. Maybe one day I’ll be able to UA-cam as a living, but I’m a very long way off that 🤣 Will see what I can do about adding some xenos videos 👍🏻
The rope/cords on military uniforms are called an Aiguillette (also spelled aiglet or aglet). Historically, they date back to the laces knights used to secure plates of armor together, and which were often also decorative, especially for knights of higher rank/wealth and increasingly so as armor became more ornamental and ceremonial than practical. Later they were adapted to close seams and obscure slashes or tears in uniforms for dress occasions, and in modern times are included in the dress uniforms in several militaries, especially for officers.
Very chilled and enjoyable video. The surface tension technique on the gems was new to me and very cool! If I win the draw, I'd love the Chaos Knights box. Thanks!
Thank you I know the surface tension thing is a bit odd and I’m probably the only person who does it like this. But hey, it works it produces a cool result, so I think why not? 😀 Good luck in the draw
That purple mix is great, but i have no ECs 😅 Btw i like the advices on the brush sizes for the different parts of the miniature (loancloth). And.. Chaos Knights 😉
"I've spent a long time trying to find the perfect purple" man I felt this! 😂. Love this, very chill and it feels like an achievable tutorial even for me! Chaos Knights is definitely the way forward
Haha, yeah that was from the heart that statement for sure I lost count of the different tones I tried for this. I’m very happy with the one I went for in the end. Just what I was aiming for Good luck in draw
It's been great watching this come together in all the sub-assemblies over on IG, the clean look is very fitting for the Emperor's children. I really enjoyed watching how it was done!
Thank you for the gold highlight tutorial within this video, it helps me a lot. Also the Eshin gray piping bc i always use Abaddon black but this is better. Thank you for these videos. I would love to Win a 40k Knight! Have never had the pleasure of painting one as of yet.
This paint scheme has given me the push I needed to start an emperor's children army! Plus a fancy chaos knight would really be a great centrepiece in those colours
Congratulations on the 20k subscribers. If I Win I would love to have the Chaos Knight set ❤ I am watching your Videos for quite some while and it always makes me smile, gives me Inspiration and most importantly distracts me from my daily life which is very tough at the moment. So, thank you very much for Videos. Sometimes small things like your videos mean the World to someone! Big hug from Austria 🫂
Fantastic work, love the format of your guides and the on screen information for the paints and the brushes is phenomenal. Your channel is expanding rapidly and I'm glad I'm here for the give away! If selected I'd love the chaos knight army box set. Thank you again for the tutorial! Now off to paint some trees!
Loving your tutorials, it's nice to see a winter that looks like they are taking their time and not rushing. So many YT tutorials kinda just take everything in their stride. For you give away I would love the chaos knight, lovely model and always wanted one
absolutly LOVE this color scheme, never thought of making an Emperors Children army but you make it look so smooooth! That chaos knights box would look really good in my display case btdubs ;)
Your tutorials have helped me to improve my painting so much. I appreciate your work and videos. Also that Chaos Knight would look great for my sons Christmas present!
I will definitely be testing this scheme out on my EC. Gives off a much more Loyalist Vibe compared a dark purple. Also Sons of Behemat King Brodd. He’d look ace in an Ogor Mawtribes force
I am glad I stumbled across this. I really like the style of the video and how you explain and what you do and so forth. I would love to win the Chaos Knights.
I've followed some of your tutorials on a few of my models...congrats on making the 20k milestone. Would much like the Chaos Knights to add to my chaos army 😉
I am a new painter which is to say I am not confident in mixing my own colors yet. However, this is a simple mix that is a clear Emperors Children perfect fit. I hadn’t seen a great match but this is definitely it and it’s easy (not intimidating to mix up). Please make more content! Love HH stuff.
Thanks for watching, I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. Paint mixing can feel very daunting at first, but you’re right, this is a simple one to get started with and very easy to replicate. As I mentioned in the video, it’s always worth keeping a dried paint sample available to compare against, as well as your written ratios, just to be certain. Do give it a go though, you’ll see it’s actually very satisfying and produces a lovely purple. 👍
Once again another beautifully clean model. Whilst I'd like to see you tackle king brodd - I'd like to more. So King Brodd. Hopefully that means you'll do some chaos knights in your pristine style.
Think I've found the method for painting my Alph... I mean Emperor's Children Palatine Blade's 👀 Congrats on the milestone!! Do have to say the Knight army box would be sweet! 🤞
I have the Saul Tarvitz forge world model that I haven’t painted yet and this seems like the perfect guide. I’m in love with that purple! Oh and can I get uhhhhh, King Brodd lol. He would be my pick, It would be a great painting challenge! Congratulations on the channels success either way, friend!
Your EC are absolutely stunning. I prefer a metallic treatment usually but this is a great scheme. If I was selected as the winner for your giveaway I'd absolutely love those chaos knights!
So clean, really refreshing to see some Heresy paintjobs that don't lean too heavily into the battle damage and grime. Not sure I'd be able to pull it off but pristine Chaos Knights could be super cool 😁
Thank you I figure you can always add damage and grime later if you want but all paint jobs should start with good base coats. Best of luck in the draw
Great video! Congratz on 20k i think you have enough potential to reach a lot higher. Your guides really helped me out a lot of times! Chaos knights would be great since im already working on one
Glad I found your yt through your giveaway. Love the colour choices on this particular video, will help for many purple/magenta armours I have planned. I have been stalking that chaos knight set for a while so really would love to win that if i did get lucky 😅 Keep creating!
I would love a version of this without the voiceover as well. I have had a super rough morning and this video just hit that reset button. I love how your models look “soft”. Other artists tend to have sharp models but yours seem to have this softness about. Very aesthetically appealing. Thank you for these my friend.
Haha thank you. Glad this helped soothe your rough morning. As for the soft style, I try not to copy what others are doing and try and put my own spin on things. Thanks for checking out my channel 👍🏻
Love this model, really looking forward to following the guide with mine. The Scale75 paints look great too, I’ll be picking some up. Big congrats on 20k followers, here’s to the next 20! 🎉 ((I would be daft to say no to a Chaos Knights box if it came my way 😊))
Wonderful video. Easy to follow and well explained. Especially enjoyed your gem painting breakdown. I would love to get my hands on the Chaos Knight set 😅
A nice tutorial worthy of the Emperor's children's blessing! Seen a lot of tutorials for them but I think that your recipe displays their "true" color scheme the best. The only problem is, that I JUST started a Night Lords project and didn't want to start with another legion... ah hell :D A Chaos Knight would go along with both I guess :D

@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides no no, thanks to you again, it is because of the kind of videos you a others create, that I have come back to the painting hobby again! It is much easier now that I can learn from pros than 15 years ago! Please, continue sharing knowledge with people like me!!
This couldn't have timed in better. I've been looking around, considering as many recipies possible for painting sneaky orcs. So thank you for uploading this lovely purple alternative. Also noticed your FB competition where I'd also like to express my interest in the "Chaos Knights Army Set box". Thank you and Kindest Regards
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides Ahhh well, the question is, have you actually ever seen a purple orc or are they just really good at being sneaky gitz xD (Thank you and all the best to yourself)

Would love to add the knights to my force, get them all sorted ready for 10th edition!
Great video
If it’s possible to apply your receape on a chaos knight, it will be so cool
Thank you 🙏🏻
Best of luck for the draw
Love your painting! Would love to see more how you do basing and pinning. Some chaos knights are always great to have! ;)
Thank you
Best of luck in the draw
Thanks for your amazing videos! If I were that lucky to win, would love the chaos knights army set 😊
Thank you 🙏🏻
Best of luck in the draw
Ah purple orks
Don’t see many of them 😉
Best of luck in the draw
@@BrushstrokePaintingGuides Ahhh well, the question is, have you actually ever seen a purple orc or are they just really good at being sneaky gitz xD (Thank you and all the best to yourself)
