Toplitz has reached out to me with a correction: If a breeder is present but there is no animal feed for the breeder to give them the animals will still continue to breed and will produce resources at 25% normal rate. Thanks Toplitz for the correction!
The birds actually do produce eggs without a worker... you just have to pick them up yourself. Also you can manually pick up manure from basically every animal stall, except for the bird coops (those will only produce eggs and feathers).
Yeah same with pigs you can manually clean the floor for manure but it's like less than 1/10th of what a worker will get. So they do produce without a worker but it's SO LITTLE.
Sadly when I first went to buy chickens, I went to crouch and accidentally punched the only male chick. *Sobs* I killed it before buying it. No one noticed but I had to run across the map because I could not afford the full grown one. Lol fun times.
Oh man before I had the builders hut I killed SEVERAL with my hammer while trying to repair the hen house lol! Yeah "chicken puncher" is not going to help your dynasty reputation HAHA
If they're assigned they won't actually go anywhere. All the animals assigned will get out and wander around but won't actually leave your town. However you can put up fences around the animal buildings to keep them really close to their building.
Do you have any information on the actual mechanics of harvesting eggs, manure and wool please? My nests are often at 100 % when I check and the sheep have fleece but nothing is collected by my workers. I wondered if the collection happens at a specific time, say midnight and that’s why I have eggs in nests not in food store.
So workers will harvest whether animals are fed or not you just have to slide their % bar like you would any other job site. They harvest dramatically less if the animals aren't fed though. The part about manure still on the floor and eggs in nests is something render cube added in with the farm shed update I think. Those are for you to collect manually if you want and are separate from what the worker collects and it's WAY less than what a worker would collect. The collection happens throughout the day continuously like a woodcutter or excavator. If you have none check to see if your worker has eggs or feathers set to collect and what % I leave mine 100% eggs I've never needed extra feathers. If you have a kitchen making something that uses eggs they could be taking them, also if not enough other food sources are coming in townsfolk could be eating them raw.
Yeah you can manually feed them yourself. Recently they did add that birds lay eggs and pigs leave manure inside their buildings that you can manually pick up, but it's a tiny % compared to what a worker will get.
It's basically the poor man's horse. You can ride it, give it saddle bags to increase it's carrying capacity. It's not as good as a horse but better than walking.
Yeah they all do so you can just let it run and have them die of old age but you'll want to keep an eye on the genders. If you're getting unlucky you can find yourself with a coop or sty full of males or females and then you won't be naturally refilling your own numbers. Also for the chicken coop I always keep an eye on that selling off the oldest rooster so I can keep 1 rooster and maximum adult chickens to maximize the eggs I'm getting.
Yeah your barn workers set to make animal feed will automatically put it in resource storage, then your animal breeder will automatically pull feed out of resource storage and put it in the feed trough they're assigned to.
Thanks for your videos. Very well done! Would you rather buy baby animals or old ones? I bought two piglets because of money issues. I don't see why I would buy older animals when the baby's cost less than half
Thank you so much I'm glad it helped! For pigs it doesn't seem to have a huge impact on baby vs adult both produce manure and the lower amount from the babies doesn't seem to hurt too much. For chicken I go maybe half adult female and a few chicks with at least 1 male chick, just so they'll sustain their own population in later years.
I would always buy Baby pigs because they are so much cheaper and it only take half a year to wait until they are 1 year old and then they produce everything you need.
Yeah I should redo this. It *used* to be pigs were the only baby animal a townsfolk could get resource from but now they've standardized it so no babies produce.
Is this still accurate as of the latest update? I have a chicken coop with no animal breeder, but my chickens do produce eggs (as long as I manually collect them from the nests) and breed regardless - is this just the case with chickens or would the bigger animals be the same?
The current update seems to have changed animals again. So you can manually collect manure, eggs, etc but at a fraction of what you would get with a worker. Some have said they breed without a worker some haven't so it might be version dependent. They do still produce 25% of normal if they're not fed though.
Yes the nests will still fill up with feathers and eggs, same with the pig stye the floor will still get covered in manure that you can manually collect. But putting a staff there gives 1000x more than what you'd get by hand.
@@morbidgypsy The newest update did adjust this though. So with no feed but you have a worker assigned, they will automatically collect eggs/feathers whatever, but at I think 20% what they would normally get. But yes if you have no one assigned you can manually collect items from nests/floor of pig stye, but it's dramatically less than if you had a worker.
@@7CGames I bought it when it went on sale on steam and I started playing it all of it maybe like 4 days ago and already a lot of hours. So I think I started right after the 1.5 came out. @@morbidgypsy It's actually been asked about a number of times. They said they'd basically have to tear down half the game and rewrite an insane amount of dialogue. built a henhouse, and got a chicken and a roster, but they keep straying from the area , how to force them to stay put...

how the heck did you get everyone to 100% happiness?? you should make a video on that and what effects happiness has on the game.

Can't we tender to animals directly? Like feeding and collecting goods?

If you put a gate on your farm animals well they make baby’s
The new update made them need almost nothing actually! I just saw they don't need feed or a worker. But no feed dramatically reduces their output.
