One tip, a friend of mine and I both ran into an issue because we got on the bandwagon of building all the biggest houses possible for our villagers. By the time we were close to the building cap and all of the kids that were born there wasn't going to be any room for all of them before the parents started dying off of old age. So, we both now build the small houses for our villagers which doesn't give us too many people.

You make some quality videos, sir, and I appreciate the effort. I would point out a small error @2:08 that you say you make logs into planks, then planks into firewood. You make logs into EITHER planks or firewood. I took a plank over this morning and you can't turn them into firewood. The village people may use them that way, in which case I'd turn a plank into a paddle and smack some butt... But I digress. :) Completely agree with the first three villagers. I'd like to expound upon your point(s) for your viewers (because I'm very much a "why?" guy when it comes to teaching): The early villagers should be obtaining building and crafting items for Racimir to work with, so you can focus on other things. Logs, planks, and stone to build houses with STONE WALLS and WOOD TILE ROOFS is SMART from the get-go (doing this, along with putting villagers in a job they are good (3) at, will set their base Happiness at 49%). Two subject-specific sub-tips here are knowing the materials needed to construct a home and pre-positioning them so you're not running back and forth - this is especially helpful once you put points into the Building Trance (Production) skill as the clock will be ticking on faster building. Also, adding Limestone insulation (Insulating unlocks with the Handyman skill under Production and you'll need about the same amount of Limestone for the home as Stones to build it - so it's a LOT. Also you can insulate wood buildings with Daub, including your production and storage buildings) and Wooden Shutters (unlocks with Resource Storage 2 - requires 2 Logs and 6 Planks per window) will do good to up their happiness as well. Not to mention it's cool that the shutters open and close. As things get more efficient and the village grows adding a second Woodcutter Shed may become necessary (as it's quite a grind to get it to level 2 and add another job). With the single worker the percentages may need to be adjusted to raise the amount of Firewood production at a certain point, but only by 5-10% points. Remember, early game, YOU want to do as much work as you can to build YOUR skills. The villagers will build THEIR skills, but will add to your Technology and help unlock buildings you can use. The nice thing about the Woodcutter's Shed (especially if you build in an area devoid of trees or mostly Birch) is you don't have to clear-cut the forest to get the materials to build your village. You can be selective about any trees you fell and dig up the stumps from (permanently removing them). I HIGHLY recommend building out all the production and storage buildings you can BEFORE bringing in villagers, and get used to doing ALL the jobs yourself, especially making wooden bowls and buckets in the Workshop, and crafting in the Kitchen, Smithy, and Sewing Hut. You should also do all the Farming early-on because you are faster at doing it than a villager. It eventually becomes make-work for them, and takes it off your plate, so to speak. Villager 1 - Woodcutter Shed (60% Logs, 30% Planks, 10% Firewood). This gives you the logs and planks to build houses. Villager 2 - Excavation Hut (100% Stone initially, then shift to 60% stone, 40% Limestone until you start clearing caves, then go 100% Limestone). This gives you stones for homes and limestone to insulate them later. Once you start clearing cave(s) of ore, make sure to take the stones as well (PRO TIP: Build a Resource Storage Building as close to the mouth of the cave as possible to make this work more efficient, and allow you to collect EVERYTHING the caves have to offer to put to use or sell). Villager 3 - Hunter (60% Meat, 20% Leather, 20% Fur). You will find these folks are RIDICULOUSLY good at their job, and you will have PLENTY of meat to feed the village or craft with (remember, kids, POTTAGE is your friend!). Hope you don't mind me throwing this out there for your viewers. Keep up the terrific work!

Some tips for you: If your villagers are max or 100% mood, their production increase greatly. To make them have 100%, you need a few things must aquired: 1. The villagers must have 2 children per household, which means you need to build them either simple houses or normal houses. 2. Their houses must build and insulated with the best tier of material like stone walls and wooden title roofs. 3. Make sure to decorate their homes with all the best qualities and also dont missing anything from inside to outside. That is all.
@@thanhlongvo7092 Yeah My house are all simple small house, so my villagers are bound to have 2 kids per house. but my question was, can i max the mood with an insulated wooden walled house, instead of stone walls? I know stone walls and tiled roof really put the mood up but some of us prefer wattle and wooden ones.

I was today years old when I realise why I never have sticks even though all my wood sheds have them on gather. "if you have no firewood, then villagers will use sticks, logs and eventually planks to warm their homes." All that time I spent gathering extra sticks because I thought I had a glitched game 😅 #siiiiiiiiiiiigggghhhhhhh 😂

Reason for building multiple smaller fields instead of one Large one. Sometimes, on the events, they have one that destroys several fields. If you have a couple of large fields, you lost all your crops. I like 8 fields, 10X5. This gives you 200 units and can make you very rich in a couple of years.

Hey bud incase no one else told you you can make wood in the hand craft menu as well for fire woods out of a log way quicker then making planks just to turn them into fire woods
I am by all means not a pro at this game I haven't even got into blacksmithing yet but I have noticed to not hire to early the villagers are a pain to maintain if you don't have a hunting lodge, well with buckets, and a woodshed up

To make and sell potage. Potage isn't as good as it was, since the latest patch, so I mostly use cabbage as fertilizer or villager food now. Roasted meat makes more money, so you should use your meat for that, instead of Potage. Hope this helps!
I’m currently doing the kings quest that needs fish, meat, mushrooms and eggs, problem is I need 700 eggs and currently have 100 or so with a full henhouse and its only a few seasons away, how can I not fail it? Need that tax break

Can you confirm if it's true that villagers will say in dialog their preferred job and that it gives a mood boost for them to work it even if it's a job that doesn't match their skills? I've heard rumors of a guy that wanted to be a hunter but only had a 1 in the skill but his mood was higher than when mining with a 4 in excavation.

I've heard if you fail or ignore the King Challenges, he has a higher chance to die, but I'm not entirely sure. I haven't had a king die yet, so i haven't tested this. 🤷♂️ My guess is the rep resets when the king dies
@@SirJayWalker After I asked the question I thought about it and before I knew what the symbols for tax and King's Favour where I noticed that one time it said -5% and +2 then after a wile it was back to 0 and 0 then after a while it was back to -5% and +2 so yes it does reset.
Great video thanks! Is there a way for villagers to automatically put the resources they need in their storage to do their assignments? (eg. my blacksmith taking copper straight from storage) instead of me constantly and manually putting all their resources in their storage myself?
You're welcome! If you place the items they need in the resource storage building that may fix your problem. The workplace chests are nice, but hold very little

Should I pair them with the oldest traveling woman, and they will still be near the 20 years age gap, which will make it difficult for their wives to get pregnant; or, should I wait for another special villager quest, hoping the villager will be female?
There are sometimes villagers around 30 that you can recruit, but for the most part they are young, true. In my longest playthrough, I paired the 2 older special villagers (Georgiana and Amerigo I believe?) together and that worked pretty well.
Pre@@SirJayWalker Precisely, it's Amerigo who's giving me trouble to find him a wife. I recruited a female traveler, but only after 3 game years I noticed they're still not married, because of the age difference. I moved the girl to another house and found her a husband; but now Amerigo is 3 years older than when I met him, making match him even more difficult. Guess he's going to remain single 😮💨 Is Georgiana the woman from the crossbow quest? Because I failed that quest. If she was his best bet for a wife... he's toast! Better get used to *hand work* 🤣

I'm extremely new to the game (i play on xbox) and I had a question about the taxes. I know you're supposed to pay them to that old guy with the quests in the village, but if villagers can die of old age, what happens if that guy dies? Do you pay your taxes to someone else or am I just gonna go in debt?
If you have a bad king, I would rather pay the increased taxes and lose dynasty rep for the increase in villager mood by picking up the quest and ignoring it. Else, I would just not pick up the quest ever to begin with. The rep and lower taxes isn't worth the mood loss in villagers.
Some of the things that go into mood improvement I had not been aware of, so I'm grateful for your information. 😊 After a year of absence, I just started a new game a few days ago and I must say the villagers have become more amusing than I remember them being back then. The first guy I recruited was all like "Wiling to work for water, food and shelter.... damn, am I asking for too much?", but the day after I got him, the first thing I hear from him in the morning is mumbled complaints about how empty and boring his house is. Talk about ungratefulness. 😒 And then one day I was in the Hunting Lodge to make a bow and my new huntress was in there as well. She stood behind me and said: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." Made me fear for my life for a moment. 🤣
been watching youtuber play this game in coop they been struggling a lot....... workers dont do well. now i see why. its their mood. they built basic homes. not paired them up. no upgrades.
Players can only have 1 unless u start playing as heir and make yourseld an npc. Then your character will have more, you just won't play as them. Once the woman hits 50, she won't try anymore
I have been trying to get a good king for 2 hours... 2 hours of quitting and starting a new game... it's mostly neutral, but if it isn't neutral, it's evil... wtf game.
NPC villagers are dumb as rocks.... The interraction allowed with the game is so poor.... It's one of the bigges issue of this game (with the bugged missions... almost all missions are bugged)

In the management screen you can control what wooden things (logs, sticks, planks, firewood) the villagers will burn for heating.

@@SirJayWalker After I asked the question I thought about it and before I knew what the symbols for tax and King's Favour where I noticed that one time it said -5% and +2 then after a wile it was back to 0 and 0 then after a while it was back to -5% and +2 so yes it does reset.

Great video thanks! Is there a way for villagers to automatically put the resources they need in their storage to do their assignments? (eg. my blacksmith taking copper straight from storage) instead of me constantly and manually putting all their resources in their storage myself?
You're welcome! If you place the items they need in the resource storage building that may fix your problem. The workplace chests are nice, but hold very little

Currently I've completed 2 of these quests, and both villagers were male. Should I pair them with the oldest traveling woman, and they will still be near the 20 years age gap, which will make it difficult for their wives to get pregnant; or, should I wait for another special villager quest, hoping the villager will be female?
There are sometimes villagers around 30 that you can recruit, but for the most part they are young, true. In my longest playthrough, I paired the 2 older special villagers (Georgiana and Amerigo I believe?) together and that worked pretty well.
Pre@@SirJayWalker Precisely, it's Amerigo who's giving me trouble to find him a wife. I recruited a female traveler, but only after 3 game years I noticed they're still not married, because of the age difference.
I moved the girl to another house and found her a husband; but now Amerigo is 3 years older than when I met him, making match him even more difficult. Guess he's going to remain single 😮💨
Is Georgiana the woman from the crossbow quest? Because I failed that quest. If she was his best bet for a wife... he's toast! Better get used to *hand work* 🤣
About Villager musical chairs, making villagers move house can cause the mood to drop.
Depends on the house moreso than the move itself, but it will never be enough for them to leave your village

The max building limit u can have is 140 if you increase it in the custom game settings. If you're on the valley, you may need to do chapter quests

I'm extremely new to the game (i play on xbox) and I had a question about the taxes. I know you're supposed to pay them to that old guy with the quests in the village, but if villagers can die of old age, what happens if that guy dies? Do you pay your taxes to someone else or am I just gonna go in debt?
The villager may change, but there will always be a castellan

So if I have a bad king there is no reason to do his quests except for reputation?
If you have a bad king, I would rather pay the increased taxes and lose dynasty rep for the increase in villager mood by picking up the quest and ignoring it.
Else, I would just not pick up the quest ever to begin with. The rep and lower taxes isn't worth the mood loss in villagers.
Some of the things that go into mood improvement I had not been aware of, so I'm grateful for your information. 😊
After a year of absence, I just started a new game a few days ago and I must say the villagers have become more amusing than I remember them being back then. The first guy I recruited was all like "Wiling to work for water, food and shelter.... damn, am I asking for too much?", but the day after I got him, the first thing I hear from him in the morning is mumbled complaints about how empty and boring his house is. Talk about ungratefulness. 😒
And then one day I was in the Hunting Lodge to make a bow and my new huntress was in there as well. She stood behind me and said: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." Made me fear for my life for a moment. 🤣

Players can only have 1 unless u start playing as heir and make yourseld an npc. Then your character will have more, you just won't play as them. Once the woman hits 50, she won't try anymore

Age 60 or so. Never played one game that long, but i have gotten my character killed and forced into playing my heir 🥲
My biggest warning is watch out for a baby boom. Make sure to have villagers you can use to take over for mothers.

NPC villagers are dumb as rocks.... The interraction allowed with the game is so poor.... It's one of the bigges issue of this game (with the bugged missions... almost all missions are bugged)
None of the missions bugged for me, but I agree, more npc interactions would be cool
