Thanks for watching. xoxo - Розваги
mama cass rip, she had such a great voice
She was only 33 when she died.
You’re right, Michelle Phillips was absolutely stunning 😍. The Mamas and Papas had some of the best harmonies I’ve ever heard.
Mama Cass has one of the best voices I've ever heard. Please react to her singing "Dream a little dream of me" I promise you will be impressed.
@
oz man she is underrated for sure also she died too soon .. rip
I never hear this song that I don't get a tear in my eye. She was a great vocalist.
She had a good voice but let’s not oversell it. There are many singers with equal and better voices.
At 69yo I’ve heard this a bazillion times and the harmonizing at the beginning always thrill-chills me. Did it again at this start.
It's impossible not to get emotional when I hear her sing that song. Excellent suggestion!
John Phillips, who is the tall guy with the guitar, is one of the outstanding songwriters of the 60's, like Lennon/McCartney, Paul Simon, Smokey Robinson, and Jagger/Richards... another great Mamas/Papas song is "Twelve Thirty"
The music of my childhood, brings back fun memory's.
Their first single . Huge hit . The band was a major force behind the Monterey festival of 1967 - one of the early crossroads of psychedelic creativity and spirituality .
This is literally my most favorite song in the history of music....grew up in Cali...this song takes me back home....no matter where I am.
Different time, and a different place, but in California at that time this song was magic.
Mama Cass' sang way bigger than she looked. Her voice was a miracle. It was the tide that floats the whole song. The special thing is that it is so huge and atmospheric that she can sing super loud in harmony without getting in the way of the lead singer. Also she's just so sweet and funny! Listen to a lot of her. You won't regret it.
That is what real singing sounds like.
Absolutely

🎼 It sure is! 🎶
We have lost melody & harmony as an important ingredient in music, especially 3 and 4 part harmony.
The audio of this version is good because they are lip-syncing to the studio version. Most of the TV shows from the 60s had the bands lip-sync when on TV. Notice none of the "singers" have a microphone. No mic for the guitar, either. And where exactly is the tambourine sound coming from?
@@alexanderwalter4595 Nevertheless they could sing
This song is pop perfection. The lyrics, the arrangement and of course the vocals are all amazing.
Monday Monday, Dedicated to the One I Love and Dancing in the Street are other good songs by the band. Also John Denver & Cass Elliot singing Leaving On A Jet Plane is a beautiful song.
My personal favorite is Cass Elliot doing " Make your own kind of music"
A lesser known but very well done song by them is Spanish Harlem
The band career lasted just 3 years and they did alot in those 3 years.... Legendary band
If you like Mama Cass find some live performances, she was the comedian of the band and was very funny between songs! Thanks, Morenikeji! ✌
The opening acoustic guitar mimics a leaf gently falling to the ground just before winter sets in. Pure genius.
Written by the late John Phillips. He was the Papa. Michelle Phillips is the only surviving member. She is 1 of the Mamas. The members were in 2 bands in my hometown San Francisco before forming. After the break up of the marriage and the band, Michelle became an actress.
Family tree .
In short, The Mamas and The Papas are related to The Beach Boys, Wilson Phillips, the jailed Danny Masterson, Billy Baldwin and his son-in-law Justin Bieber. The Mamas and Papas also lead to Van Halen.
Suggested videos : 1 Wilson Phillips sing You're in Love live in Manila. 2 The Beach Boys perform Don't Worry Baby. 3 Van Halen performs I'll Wait live in Montreal, in 1984.
Mama Cass was totally amazing!!! She was a fantastic singer and she was responsible for the band "Crosby, Stills,Nash and sometimes Young"! 👍 They first sang together in her kitchen and she encouraged them!!! Each of them were already very famous from other bands they were in. Their first gig was Woodstock!!!👍 If you've never heard them, they are one of the greatest Harmonizing groups to ever exist!!!👌 They are a deep and fantastic rabbit hole!!!👍✌😎
When John Phillips was assembling the Mamas and the Papas, he doggedly pursued Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty. Knowing both singers provided the ranges he required for the harmony drenched songs he was writing. Cass Elliot was irreplaceable. Mo, as always, you look lovely just the way you are. Take care Hun, RNB
Thanks a lot!🙏❤️
@@MorenikejiTaiwo You are welcome Dearie :-) RNB
Bravo someone that actually respects the music and LISTENS instead of interrupting and squawking every 30 seconds. Well done young lady keep it up:) The expression on this beautiful young lady's face says it all. She not only gets it, she feels it on a deeper level. The finest piece ever produced moved her in ways she never thought possible. Thank you for sharing your joy with us.
Mama Cass died unexpectedly in a London hotel after a solo performance at the London Palladium.
Band member Michelle said she'd received a phone call (to USA) from Cass after the show, and that she was very happy with her performance and reception.
Mama Cass 1941-74 R.I.P.
That song sure brings back memories of a great time growing up and a little weed. Their music and voices just worked so well and you can hear what the out come of that was, abeautiful song.
Thank you! for letting the song play without interruption. I like that you react to the song while its playing and not stopping the music.
One of the greatest groups of my generation. Mama Cass Elliot rocked it
Loved this version when it cam out in 1966 and it still is one of my favourites tunes, as indeed as are many of the Mamas and Papas songs. Back in those days we did not have videos to the extent that they are now and it is only recently I saw them for the first time on UA-cam. Michelle Phillips visual impact on me was immediate. Her story and that of the Mamas and Papas is well known, however for me this and other video recordings of her will remain very happy memories which I revisit often.
Always loved this song too - melody and harmony. Don't forget Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys!
My day is always made brighter when I get a notification for your videos!!! Your smile is so contagious! God bless!
Thank you so much🥰❤️❤️❤️
Mamas & Papas was baller band from the 60’s. Mama Cass carried this band vocally. Great songwriters that was John Phillips Amazing. Their music still stands up today
I saw this live when I was young so I guess you know my age. The were young and fresh and fantastic! Thank you for playing!
Was a great time to be a kid
I don’t know what is more amazing hearing the song again after about 30 years of watching your beautiful face react to it
You Have To Love Them Mama's & The Papas
After Hearing This At The Age Of 9 "1969"
I Was Always Dream To Go California As They Say Dreams Do Come True
I Got There , 2009 , 40 Years Of California Dreaming
5 / 17 / 21
Love how the harmonies catch you , a beautiful tune , all so talented.
"dedicated to the one I love" was also a favorite of mine
I never thought about this but Denny kinda looks like Peter Tork !!!
You should check out Mama Cass's reaction to Janis Joplin, live at the Monterey Pop Festival, I believe.
Mama Cass was at the festival and you can see her in the audience.
I grew up with this kind of Music,a child of the 60's.. I'll be 59 on The 18th and Still a Child of the 60's 🤗 !!
I Just Love watching your reactions, Mainly because you are Such a Beautiful Woman 😍...
Just Love Your Accent too ☺️
Thank you so much!😍
I think you have the sweetest disposition and most sincere reaction of anyone on UA-cam.
Aww, thank you so much💕
Tall guy with blue shirt wrote all the songs for this group. He was noted for catchy melodies and harmony arrangements
John
He wrote the Beach Boys last hit - Kokomo
Mama's and Papa's exemplified what was great about the cojoining of rock and folk. Cass Elliott was a kind gentle woman. Her house, in Laurel Canyon, was a gatherings place for friends and other musicians. Monday Monday should be next. Thanks so much for posting.
I was a young girl when this 🎶song🎶 came out. All my friends would sing it in the bar.
Where the little "I saw her, pause, I saw her again last night"
It was a mistake, but they kinda liked it, so they left it in. I Love the Mama's & the Pappas
Ahh, the memories...
Your heart is as beautiful as your smile. And yes, a great vocal group.
Thank you ❤️❤️❤️
When this song came out, I was California dreamin' in a Manhattan winter in 1965. Happy to report my dream came true and I now live in Southern California.
Jose Feliciano does an amazing cover of this song.
Music from the 60s will just thrill you!
I have to say .... Wow you are stunningly beautiful!! When you smile your pure loving heart shines thru like warm rays from the sun on a cool crisp morning.
Ok i just had to tell you. Just wow!.
Also your take on the song is spot on. For me they had the best harmony I've ever heard. It's a true masterpiece. It takes me to a time and place of happiness and peace. Thank you for such a great reaction/review. 👍
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
I have to agree with every word you said. The only difference is, I've been listening to the Mamas and the Papas since I was little and I'm now in my early 40s. As for your compliment towards Morey it is spot on!
You should hear Monday Monday...Great song.
If you'd like to check out a solo tune by Mama Cass, listen to "Dream a Little Dream of Me". Her voice really was magical.
Michelle Phillips was absolutely gorgeous. Hard to believe she's about to turn 77 next month! Sadly, she's the only one of the 4 still with us. John Phillips died in 2001; Denny Doherty died in 2007. And Mama Cass died WAY too early at the age of 32, in 1974.
Magnificent!! Oh, and the music was good too.
Miss Mo, for the best vocal by Mama Cass, listen to 'Dream a Little Dream of Me'. May you always be blessed by our Lord's peace!
Amen! Thank you so much!
Every now and again a group of people just get together and produces something which appears effortlessly magical. These four belong in that number - they were just fitted like a jigsaw and produced beautiful music.
Such an original song. Brilliant.
"The Seekers" "I'll Never Find Another You". (fantastic reaction)
This is the music I grew up with! And what a beautiful songs they sung in the 60's and early 70's. Dreaming of those times makes me happy. It should have to be possible to go back in that time. I went straight away!❤❤❤❤
As a little aside Chynna Phillips - daughter of John and Michelle (Mamas and Papas) got together with the daughters of Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) to form Wilson Phillips who had a few hits in the 90s.
The Mamas and the Papas California Dreaming was published in 1965 ... I remember them performing the song on the Ed Sullivan Show at 8pm on Sunday's on KVOS in my area ... I was 8 years old. The group was huge but Momma Cass was about to rock music during the next couple of years. She, single handedly, was about to change Rock and Roll music for ever.
It was a very beautiful band, and I'm happy to see your reaction again ❤️
So glad you chose this song. I had forgotten how good it was.
Beautiful reaction and smile as usual. Keep up with the good work you have been blessing us with. God bless!
One of my all-time favorites 🤗 thank you again my dear ~ 😘
Lol knew u would enjoy this ! Maybe the best harmonizing group from the 60's
Back in the 1960s standard radio music playtime was roughly just 3 minutes long. That's why you hear many songs finishing too soon.
It's really nice to see you sweetie reacting to this wonderful song.
I hope you had a good time will watching. Just the voices, the guitar and the feeling. Sometimes it doesn't need much more to create something good.
Great Song along with "Monday, Monday".. Ms. Cass Elliot (she did not like to called Mama Cass) is the Singer in this Group..
Ms. Michelle Phillips became an Actress; one daughter became an actress and another a singer.. ♠W.G.
Mama Cass had the most beautiful voice. I loved her singing and her music. Such a talented lady, she left us while I was still young, but she left us tok soon.
Thank you for your ‘reaction’. It is refreshing (and hopeful) to see someone such as yourself from a younger generation recognize and express appreciation for quality music from a by-gone era. I am an American who grew up in the 1950’s and 60’s and the ‘Mamas and Papas’ were one of many popular and talented musical groups of that time. I suggest the music by the ‘Fifth Dimension’, another great band from the same time period featuring wholesome and beautiful music performed by 5 highly talented young men and women. Thank you again, I have subscribed!
1960s music... great harmonies. I just played this on my guitar a few minutes ago, and then I noticed you played the video. :-) Awesome.
I love you're reactions to videos, its pure and sweet..keep making more...love it.
The heavy woman is "Mama" Cass Eliott (born Ellen Cohen), who died in 1974.
Hey Morey. Have a really lovely day.
Thank you for your words on self image. It's really nice how you extract the most important ethical concepts from this beautiful art of music.
You have so much grace.
Dan
Thank you so much!❤️❤️❤️
Just longing to go back to that time....my heart Vries when I hear this kind of music...remembering a magnificent youth!!!!!
The tall man was John Phillips, read his daughters book to find out what kind of person he was.
Indeed.
It's so good and beautiful.....almost sounds not of this earth....too perfect.
Fantastic group, one of my favourite groups, rip Mama. Thanks for uploading, and your smile. Mick Thailand
I appreciate you all going over music like this brings it back and just makes me think how great music used to be no Auto tune on these
I love the way you talk.Love your reactions Miss Morenikeji
Your reactions are SO beautiful!
The singer with the guitar was on PBS as the Harbor Master for a kids program, just like Ringo Starr and George Carlin were Mister Conduct for Thomas the Tank Train.. That was until Mister Rogers died then kids programs were lost forever...
i feel you feeling it, precious emotions from real music
Your reaction is so enjoyable to watch because of your attention to details and the sincerity of your expressions. Your physical beauty attracts the senses. Peace & Love 💕💗
Most of the text in California's Dreamin' is a true story.
John Phillips who wrote the song was in New York.
It was a cold autumn.
John Phillips hated the cold he was used to the climate in from California.
John Phillips and Michelle Phillips were newlyweds and the year was 1963.
Do walked in New York and came father to St. Patrick's Cathedral.
John hated the church but Michelle wanted to go in and John followed.
their experience in New York, the cold, the fall and the church inspired john to write Dalifornia Dreamin'.
I grew up with this music....great sound.....
The mamas and the papas was the 60s and also this song if somebody ask to describe the summer of love..
people say mamas and papas.
Great song, great to see you smile when you discover these, it lights up the screen.
Body image, You’re perfect just as you are Mo
More Santana; we want to see you move!!! 💃🏾
Thank you!💃🏼
I Love your reactions , your smile is one in a million ! Cheers !!
Thank you!❤️
Back in the radio days of the 1960s most songs were 3 1/2 to 4 minutes .
Looking happy, IT WAS THE FEELING OF THE 60's The whole decade was like that reflected in a lot of the music!
They are my favorite 1960s band. My favorite of theirs is "My Heart Stood Still" which is very short but absolutely incredible. Michele Phillips (the one with the long blonde hair) still says "My Heart Stood Still" is her favorite song they ever recorded, too. If you like the harmonies and music to this, you should check out the 1980s all-female band the Bangles. Their song "If She Knew What She Wants" is beautiful and has similar harmonies and I think you would like it.
I love this old song omg this song takes me away back in time and space i never been before ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Released on December 8, 1965...got to #4 on the Billboard charts in March 1966...spent 17 weeks on the charts!!!
AS a kid this song always made me cry... still does! I don't know why....
mama cas grl in black, has a realy fine voice, she hd her own tv show, she died young sdly. saw john playing guitar died last yr. nice hit frm v 60s, still gots lot of airplay.
Cass Elliot was amazing. Apparently John Phillips took Michelle, a California girl, walking in the NYC snow, then woke her up at 3am to write this and promised her half the royalties if she wrote the lyrics down! They are an awesome band. I recommend “I Saw Her Again Last Night” and “Twelve-Thirty”.
this is divine music that I adore! I still have a vinyl record with this song, my parents bought it in the distant 60s.
I'm now in my early 40s but in my early 20s I bought their Greatest Hits 2 Record Album set from a farmers market. The late 50s into the mid 70s was the best era of music hands down!
I’ve loved this song since it came out. I was 10 and heard it on the am radio in my mom’s 54 Ford Victoria. It really takes me back to a much simpler time.✌️
Absolute tune and absolute classic of all time ❤️
The sound is clear b/c the video's poster substituted a studio track for the original TV audio. The clue is that this is in stereo. '60s TV was strictly monaural as no one's TV could play stereophonic. The track matches perfectly b/c the Ms and Ps were lip-syncing to that exact same track during this "live" performance, which explains the absence of microphones. Sounds great, I'm not complaining.
Got to see the Papas with new mamas play once in the '90s
Short and oh so sweet, such melody, such wow :D
You are my new favorite reaction video creator! Not just because your absolutely beautiful but you have reacted to some amazing songs that most don't react to. You're amazing! Keep it up!
Thank you so much!🙏❤️
Your reaction is priceless!! Great sound
