- This workflow video covers my first ever UA-cam collaboration, with Nerdforge, Andyax, and VP Nordic. I got to 3D Scan the gorgeous castle miniature (bigature) that Martina at Nerdforge made, by hand. Then, brought it into Unreal Engine 5, and rendered out a sequence of shots for this Virtual Production Project.

It was so impressive watching you work on set, just seeing how quickly you could adjust things on the fly - and seeing the process from start to finish here was super fascinating! Thanks for taking the time to (painstakingly 😅) scan the entire castle, seeing it in a 3D environment like that was just incredible!
Oh, and one final appreciation for that establishing shot 🤌🤌
Thanks so much! It was so awesome working with you both! Really hoping to do more of this kind of stuff in the future, would love to scan more of the stuff you make :)
@@WilliamFaucher Hello, I am in Nigeria and some high end Rigs can be very difficult to purchase over here, Can you give me a much more affordable set up that i can use For Unreal as i am just starting but i am very good with after effects but want to transition into Unreal engine
this was so cool to see. your Castle looks so cool!
Still waiting for al full Nerdforge fantasy movie. With Martina as warrior queen as main character.
Great behind the scenes, the final result turned out fantastic and it was a pleasure working with you. 10 out of 10 stars! ✨
You're the best! Can't wait to work more with you moving forward!
I can't find the final result unless they haven't finished the shots?😢
I watched it on you Chanel very good @andyax that's why i fellow here to find more..
Now THIS is the kind of technological advancement that excites me. The craft and skill of both physical and digital coming together. Love the art and work!
This is incredible. Big fan of Nerdforge and Martina. Seeing her placed inside her own art for a project is just amazing, on so many levels.
Casting my vote for more digital/practical crossovers and I’m looking forward to your procedural video as well.
Beautiful castle.
I never knew about the cross-polarized camera rig. I have wondered for many years how to get around the issue of directional light baking into scanned photos. That is so cool!
Yes! Thankyou!!!
Love this! Such a cool blend of different mediums!
As always. Thank you for the inspiring work, William!
Big fan of both Nerdforge and your channel. So cool to see you collaborating!
So excited for the PCG Tools video! These hybrid practical-digital effects seem like a blast to work on (minus the on the fly crunch), you did an awesome job regardless of the challenges that came up. In my opinion these kinds of workflows yield some of the most magical visual results. I would love to see more of this kind of thing!
Super Awesome!
More of these please! Learning this work flow of scanning models and making environments is my dream job.
Thanks for all of these videos!
This is incredible! It's great to see a collaboration like this with different creatives working together.
Just incredible! What an awesome job!
Incredible work as always Will! And thank you aswell cause I've learned a lot thanks to you! Te amo hermano!
Your work is so inspiring! Thank you for sharing
Love it! great atmosphere and looks like tons of fun! thanks for sharing! And thanks for the render settings PDF!
thank you for the render settings !!
William, this is such a cool workflow for creating something like this. It blows my mind how much faster production can become and with smaller teams making huge projects. Love it dude!
THANK YOU FOR THE PDF! Goldmine
Love your channel! so inspiring all you share, thank you so much!
I found this so interesting to watch. A lot of work in a small time frame but you all rose to the occasion. I hit " The bell " to make sure I do not miss your video on the PCG tool. Looking forward to it
Thank you for another tremendous video William and the links to these other talented artists! Inspirational and informative.
amazing work, always asked myself if it was possible, and here it is in front of my eyes....
always a pleasure watching your uploads WF - cheers
Wow! That castle is incredible. The 3d scan turned out great as well. Fantastic job, William!
That was a really great and entertaining video! I would love to see something like this from you also about character photogrammetry, rigging and animation. Or also all the tricky detail with those processes….keep it up!
Such a cool project!
Incredible!
Omg this looked like the most fun project ever. If you get to do more, hellz yeah, I'm all in for that!
Appreciate this and all your prior tutorials and demos William @WilliamFaucher. And mega thanks for the PDF and pre-set on your render settings. I suspect I'll be picking up Easy Fog here soon too.
Legebdary video william,,, so proud of you dude!
Loved this episode. Reminded me of the excellent documentary on the history of ILM, Light & Magic and how important the use of model making and puppeteering was in their early days. In some ways technologies like photogrammetry and virtual production bring us full circle to how films were made years ago before everything became digital.
Thank you for the PDF. Buying Easy Fog for our first Unreal animated 'toon!
I'm impressed!!😮😮😀😀
thank you for the advice on VRAM! I needed that
You're a Legend, William. Every video is a gold.
I loved the comedic cut of dramatic music while taking pictures next to the realistic deadpan version of taking pictures.
This project looks amazing.
Amazingly amazing
That was top notch stuff man😮. Happy to learn from you.
He makes this sound so easy lol.. amazing work
i love your tutorials men, thanks for share!!
Always left speechless with your creativity 👏👏👏
Great stuff, great job !! As always :D
Watching you work with this makes me wish I had more time to get into this sort of thing. I watched the vid of the production for Martina, and was in awe. The tech is evolving at an amazing rate.
We want more of that kind of stuff too ! 🙌
Cool!As always!
Awesome video and really nice collab, love her work too!
YES! Do more of this! Also come to Spain and we'll shoot a ton!
Loved this video. I hope you do like this and do more with the photogrammetry. Good work!
Pure Awesomeness as usual!
I was thinking about this method so often!!!
Please make a tutorial on Unreal‘s Water System 😅
I cannot wrap my head around how to make it good looking, especially the waves, shading and most of all the rivers..
God, this is fascinating, incredible work
I love Nerd Forge, what an awesome crossover! Didn't expect this at all
I want to comment about your statement regarding creating a practical model or a 3d model and how satisfying that process is for an artist. Recently, I have read about how film/game studios are planning to use AI to replace as many artists as possible. There are many issues with this that I am not going to write about here. However, your statement about the satisfaction artists get from creating is a top issue. The feeling of accomplishment I get from my art is what drives me to get better and create more. This is a primary human trait that should not be taken away.
I 100% agree with you. I think for production purposes, AI very well may take over and be used as much as possible, because companies want/need profits. That is inevitable.
But, from an artist's standpoint, I don't think we make art for the sake of the final result. We love the process, we love getting our hands dirty, problem solving and being proud with what we built. Humans have always been that way and I don't think that fundamentally human aspect is going anywhere anytime soon.
This is a huge, huge discussion topic that is impossible to get to the meat of in a youtube comment, especially that I see both sides of the coin.
Killer video once again
Hi William, I'm super excited about your coming new PCG video. As always, great video. Can't wait for a new one :)
Just buyed EasyFog - cant wait to use it and play around 🙂
I have just started playing with Unreal Engine, not having any kind of a developer background, and I'm finding the process quite daunting. But seeing stuff like this makes me want to keep going.
this is amazing dudeee!
She built an actual castle, its just really small. Craaazy
Excited for the PCG video!
Amazing things tech and humans can do.
You are such a beast and inspiring to me!! Keep up the flow. And I would love to see your progress from gaea to unreal. To make high quality mountains!!! Love your work.
What a great collab, I've seen her videos before! Great work. Man I want one of those cameras :)
youre amazing, ty!!
Amazing Job!
Just as much as you would like to get into hand building, I would like to equally get into creating digital models of my physical ones. We should team up. Fantastic work my friend.
Hey William, awesome concept, very creative idea. I love how your turned a small model into a huge castle in Unreal Engine. Very neat idea. I wonder what other small real-world objects could be turned into awesome digital environments. Keep it up! 😄P.S. NerdForge did an awesome job on the model which made the final result so good.
Gokil banget lu bang william😅😅, your video always explain from start to finish. 🎉❤
Incredible
Great stuff. Subscribed.
please more collabs with Martina! this is my first vid of yours and I'm already super excited.
Amazing work even with the time crunch 🤠
awesome as always..... :)
we need a tut on that fine water :)
thanx in advance
Awesome wok Mr Faucher! I really would like to see more of this process of making your own assets by photograph objects etc. Maybe even do a live Masterclass where people can ask questions about the process.
so fire
I appreciated the "but for real tho." 😂 Every time I see an exciting movie montage about an inventor making something, my artsy/craftsy side is like "lies!"
can't wait for the PCG Tool tutorial!!!
I subbed after that promise for a good tutorial on that procedural forest. All the rests I've seen haven't come close to how that demo was . Looking forward to it. Your forest looks great.
Better cgi than a lot of movies out there.
thx for sharing
Thank you
Man, thanks so much for sharing. Very informative. It's such an exciting time to be alive.
I'm assuming you were working remotely on something like a Razer Blade laptop.
No doubt one of my best Unreal content creators !
Looking forward for the PCG tutorial !
Keep up the good work 👏
ps: I totally agree with the VRAM stuff 😅Damn it RTX 3070 😅
Damn you are good!
This castle straight up, reminds me of the Zelda level Hyrule castle in Smash Brothers.
Great work! I like the establishing shot. But a tight budget is relative with such great equipment at hand. 😁
Not a collaboration I'd have expected, but excellent none the less.
Awesome video, love the workflow! (I know several physical model makers, so I shared this to my FB page)
Glad you updated your GPU. ;) Running a 4090 on my main machine, and have not looked back. a6000$ are currently out of my price range, but so far, I have not run out of VRAM in UE, Octane yes, but not UE. ;)
Your woes on having to process something taking up your work time, is why I run 2 machines. Was stuck earlier this year rendering stuff locally, so I made my work buy me a new machine. ;) )
This is what I want to learn.
Doing something with the miniature Wondderland would be interesting
Your videos are always great!!! I always learn so much from your knowledge. Do you plan to make a Gaea tutorial?? Would love to know how you make your mountains and how you texture them with Megascans. I’m struggling with finding good Gaea tutorials that explain mesh export and texturing for Unreal.
Badass
Woaa Minitures are soooo amazing vor Visuals. I'd to know someone who's just making those
OMG, Martina looks so beautiful! She's our Queen!
I was a little worried that I bought a 3090 with 24 gigabytes, when now there are more powerful 4080s and cheaper ones. But you really reassured me in the last minutes of your video, thanks! :D
Great "real" modeling and CG capturing/scenery. The video production side let you guys down a bit though. Getting the exposure and black levels right between the BG and the FG in virtual production is very tricky. Even the Mando crew mess it up at least 20% of the time.
It was a projector, not LED volume, you can't get pure blacks with a projector, make do with what you got!
Amazing video and I feel justified buying a 3060 over the 3070 last week for this reason haha. I wonder if you could run 2 3060’s for 24gb of VRAM. Thanks for the mrq settings too. Also I am still using easy fog and it ROCKS!
I love your videos, even though I don't use Unreal Engine at all. I watch them to get creative inspiration and you're such a talent to produce great learning videos. I especially loved your tipp about VRAM at the end. I wondered if this also relates to Software like Blender or Maya? What's the most important hardware in those applications? And is there a difference between the viewport "realtime" rendering and the final render? Asking because I have a RTX 2060 with 12 GB and I wonder if it would be a bad choice to upgrade to a RTX 4060 / 4060 TI which both will have only 8 GB of RAM. I am using Blender, DAZ Studio, Substance 3D Stager, Substance 3D Modeler.
PCG tutorial please , video is amazing
