Hi everyone! I posted video on Patreon about recreating Minas Tirith without speeding up time + blend.file, link in the description. p.s.: theme for Blender interface from this video drive.google.com/file/d/1nR3Dyhs_cK6XdhGtt2csytprxDscmpyf/view?usp=sharing
What's crazy is, I don't think I saw anything extreme or stupidly complex the entire time. The spatial understanding and creativity to execute what you see inside of Blender using techniques most Blender uses would know is the kicker. The end result is phenomenal!
What a stunningly beautiful end result! I feel like this awakened something deep inside my soul. Truly rare and magical artwork. Thank you for this great experience
Just saying, if you ever decided to put together a 20-40 hour course where you show you production workflow, with modelling tips and shortcuts and best practices doing one of these scenes from start to finish you would have at least one VERY stoked student. I would happily pay ~$80 or $100 for that course and I don't think I am the only one. Just food for thought.
Anyone remember the Minas Tirith Project? It was ages ago (~2003?) about when the third LOTR film came out, and was trying to be a collaborative effort between a bunch of 3d artists who were trying to make a model of Minas Tirith. It took months and they didn't finish it. It's amazing that Blender is free, and powerful enough for one person on their own to do stuff like this.
They were probably trying to make it look good even up close. That is a much taller order than this piece. Which is still stunning and better than I can do, don't get me wrong.
@@alyu6351 Rivendell is a valley in J. R. R. Tolkien's fictional world of Middle-earth, representing both a homely place of sanctuary and a magical Elvish otherworld.

This looks fantastic! One thing nearly everyone gets wrong (including the LOTR movies) is the outer wall was black, made out of the same material as Orthanc. Probably obsidian or some form of black granite.
First time seeing any blender UA-cam video or video in general. Have always used solidworks & got certified in it before even knowing this was a thing.. the freedom & flexibility you seem to have in this vs solidworks looks to be a night & day of a difference. Have been considering trying out Blender for a few weeks now… you just convinced me within the first 5min of this video to give it a go lol. From one 3D modeler to another, amazing work & attention to detail🙌
Outstanding job! I learned Blender in my teenage years in the 2000s I loved it. I believe it was version 2.4xx back then. I went into electronics and PCB design and couldn't practice Blender for about 10 years, and now when I downloaded the latest release 3.3.1 I was very frustrated that a lot of key combinations changed, layers changed, the layout changed as well. I'm glad to see the community grow. Best wishes to everyone. Keep up the good work.
I really cannot believe my eyes. Its like I m dreaming. This is so incredible!!!! I really love this so much. This is top notch work. Its amazing how blender helps you to create incredible scenes fast, easily and flexibly! Just need to know how to build 3D scenes and its all set to go. P.S imagine how long it took to create this when they were creating LOTR, cuz even softwares haven't had many useful features that time, so I m guessing they put really lots of hard work to create this amazing city. Congratulations Man :)
the creators of the films about the Lord of the rings have done a titanic work on this universe, I don't think anyone is capable of doing something like that now😊
They put in more hard work than you think. They made multiple Minas Tirith live sets and models for different scales at Weta workshop. Those guys really clocked in their hours at LOTR. The funniest part was when they were filming the moment when a ton of skulls fall on Aragorn and the party. They made a TRUCKLOAD of custom skulls, and then figured out they had to do another camera angle with a big picture. And so they also made all those skulls AGAIN in miniature.
Minas Tirith in the movie was a miniature set. I say miniature but it was, like, 10 feet tall. Not sure if it's on display any more but I imagine they didn't destroy it - it was an absolute work of art.
Man you always nail the fantastical look of these things. Love your work Edit: Never knew that the clay strips brush was so useful for natural looking formations, will definitely be using it in the future
dude you're amazing!! All the talent aside just the fucking discipline it would've taken to keep coming back to this and finish this...AMAZING!! Great stuff! You're very talented!
FOR GONDOR!!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE BEST THING IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!! DO MORE!!! Maybe try Edoras and Rohan? I just love your work... Could you explain your texture setup for the walls and grass?
Dont overthink it. Start creating as the ideas come into your head and dont expect it to be perfect. Maybe make a rough version first. After it's done, take a break and look at it again later from a fresh perspective. If you dont like it, make modifications or start over again but keep the ideas in the next version. This is what I've been doing and I'm faster than before now
@@darth_hylian too late for that lol, it's part of a book I'm writing, so I already went off-rails like five years ago, giving lore to every rock. That might be the reason why I can't get past the general layout/blocking without restarting five times lmao

First Rivendale, now Minas Tirith, how about some Hobbit love with the Shire next? Not as complex at these, but room for a lot of detail.
What's Rinvendale? Rivendell + Dale?

Nope. Next time he will be taking the hobbits to Isengard. Legolas said so.
