the 1st 500,000 times or so, when I played Blackstar, I'd go back and listen to the last 2 tracks and just barely not break down in tears. So I get it Jess. I also wonder of Trent gets through easily.

It is nice to hear their voices together once again. When Reznor performed the Downward Spiral, Bowie shared the stage with him performing Hurt. I'm not sure if singing this alongside Bowie's voice triggers that memory for Reznor but I would not be surprised if this was difficult for him

For months after Blackstar was released, after I listened to the whole album, (for what seems like 5,000 listenings) I would reply the last two songs, Dollar Days, and this song. Trent does him justice, this is sublime.

Him singing together with the recording is kind of like, when you’re alone and you just love the song so much, and you can’t help but sing, even if you don’t necessarily like your own voice (Trent’s voice is beyond sexy, though). It’s kind of like a common nostalgia that continues, and you can revisit with whatever song you like. Do you know what I’m going for?

It kinda feels like a proper "goodbye" from Trent to Bowie
Because when they started being friends they played NIN's Hurt live together, and now that Bowie is gone, Trent is playing one of his songs live while also putting the recording of Bowie's voice to make it seem like they are playing it together, ending it the same way it started i guess
