Epitaph Records is an artist-first indie label founded in Los Angeles by Bad Religion guitarist, Brett Gurewitz. Early releases from a variety of punk heavyweights helped launch the 90s punk explosion. Along the way, Epitaph has grown and evolved creatively while sticking to its mission of helping real artists make great recordings on their own terms.

"True" - Lyrics by Danny Elfman
True just like me to think
You need my energy
I just can’t help myself
Why do I live in hell?
You need someone just like me
That’s what I need to believe
True or not, it doesn’t matter
I‘ve got no place to go
I‘m looking for a broken hand
Something I can understand
Time has not been kind to me
(We talk about our destiny-
We talk about our destinations) (X3)
I got no destination
I just got termination
We talk about our harmony
We think about our termination
(Guitar Solo)
(We talk about our destiny-
We talk about our destinations) (X2)
True just like me to think
I make big plans for change
You don’t need me no more
I’m still looking for the door
It’s just like me to say I’m sorry
It’s just like me to do it again
It’s just like me to plan tomorrow
It’s just like me to forget what it was
It’s just like me to chart a course
To drift at sea, an empty vessel
I’m right back where I started
I’ve got no destiny
(We talk about our destiny-
We talk about our destinations) (X3)
I got no destiny (X3)
We talk about our harmony
We think about our termination
I got no destination

This is the most badass song I've heard in a minute.
check out Health and Trent Reznor
@sprucegoose1189 I have, actually! Very good. Still really liking Danny and Trent juuuust a bit more, though.
@@obsxur definitely
This makes me want a full Elfman Reznor album tbh, this is so far beyond what I even expected. Perfection.
Except for Danny (or whoever) singing
@@waffensuperninja It’s both Danny & Trent. Don’t like, then ok. But good to know many would love to hear both sing together on more stuff. Usual naysayers aside, Danny & Trent together - perfection indeed
Nobody here dislikes Danny's singing with Trent. OP was just unsure as I was of who joined into solo singing. This is Industrial as hell and I love it!
DanTrent ElfRez
Nine Inch Elf?
This is what a Supergroup is supposed to sound like
Elfman channeling his "bowie" vocals. I love It.
Agreed, you can tell how much Bowie influenced Trent, he sounds just like him in this song.
Danny has gone full Industrial. I'm here for it.
Danny has dabbled in so many genres at this point.
Seriously haha
It's a long way from Oingo Boingo, and I'm totally down for it.
@@charlessalzman4377 yep, and often in the same song.
@@redprince9 the ending of "happy" (on the same album) is straight up punk.
All hail T. Razor and the Pumpkin King !! 🔥🔥🔥
Eargasm city right now. The world needs DANNY ELFMAN.
A few years ago I suffered a severe depressive episode/existential suicidal thoughts and both the song and visuals are so closely reprsented to how I felt at the time. I'm ok now and the song feels theraputic and inspiring
This song cut through the garbage of todays music and connected to the good old days of pure, raw sound.
This is hypnotizing!
Drone. Grunge. Industrial.
Electronic. Surreal. Digital. Dark. Melodic. Introspective.
A cacophony of clandestine collaboration, cleverly capturing a catapult of creativity and confidence along with a cornucopia of constant coolness.
Also things that begin with letters other than C!
C for catwoman!
Who CARES if you don't have any destiny? We're SAVING LIVES.
This gives me strong “Downward Spiral” meets David Bowie’s “Black Star” vibes and I’m here for it.
I’ve been thinking just the same but with NiN most recent EP’s post Bowie’s passing. They incorporate dirty saxes and jazz infused drumming.
@@andressaldivar6669 yeah definitely a homage
I'm afraid of Americans
Agreed
I was thinking exactly the same. 🖤
Love that elders like Danny Elfman and Gary Numan are still out there killing it!
Love all of Gary’s music , his new music is🔥!!!
And I think it’s really cool that they’ve both been inspired by Reznor himself (‘course it’s well-known that Gary was a big influence on Reznor). But yeah, they’re both going hard these days
How dare you call them "elders". They are in their prime.
Danny seems to be on top of his game right now !!
Supposedly people aren’t 60 aren’t supposed to be capable of composing classical music. Danny must have unusually high neuroplasticity but that was probably made clear when he picked up his first instrument in a couple of months in his late teens!
Damn, that was wild. Trent really went back to his 90's industrial rock roots with this track, with some Tool-eqsue visuals for the video
Who do you want to collaborate with this year Trent?
Trent: yes
GET THYSELF TO THE BODY AND MAKE GLORIOUS AND TERRIFYING SLUDGY NOISE
It's hard to put to words what T.R. has pulled me through since I first heard him in '89, he was in my ears while I cleared minefields in Kuwait and got me home, now at fifty and still amazes my with every thing he records being nothing but perfection that brings my inner emotions always wanting more. His talents never get the true recognition he truly deserves, so thankful he has never stopped, I could be ninty and would still be blasting it loud. Represent.
Representing!
Same ✊🏻 representing
Thank you for your service.
I don’t know… TR has had some pretty big accolades, and is respected throughout the industry.
Thank u for serving.
I can't believe Trent Reznor scored Pixars Soul and Danny Elfman composed the Simpsons two brilliant artists.
is this a meme or are actually them?
@@lordfeder3559 its true
@@cyberostrich3460 pun intended
Danny did so much more then Simpsons
And Batman.
Discomforting in the most beautiful way. My god, this will be on repeat for months.
Best of both worlds.
Underrated song ❤
A lethal combo.
i would never inter anything that would take away from the brilliant musicianship of either Danny Elfman or Trent Reznor but i hear the ghost of Bowie all throughout this track. utterly gorgeous. do a concept album together, you two. just hole up in a cheap hotel room with a big box of synthesizers and throw lunch meat at each other until it gets done.
I majorly second the feeling of David Bowie in this track.
I second the suggestion of bologna darts
definitely feels bowie here, i'm afraid of americans.
Great....
@@Drumyx ya, or The Hearts Filthy Lesson
I haven’t even listened to it yet, but I am already in love with this collaboration.
Nine Inch Boingos
Two of the greatest composers!
😂😂😂😂😂 awe. You win
Definitely the two in my lifetime 🙌❤🙌
Listen to it before you comment, you wasted your turn.
@@NobodyCaresALot it was an expression mr. sir.

@@Mrwhalespeak "You're not that guy, pal. You're not that guy."
"Reptile will forever remain one of my favorite songs ever but…"
Is something I used to swear by every time I heard a new almost-favorite song. But this, goddamn. I was never expecting to hear a song “like reptile” again, let alone one collaboratively created with Danny Elfman while haunted by David Bowie…
Fucking hell this is so good.
Listen to NIN x HEALTH isn’t everyone
I feel its time that we got a full on body horror all out crazy movie written, edited, scored, directed by Danny and Trent. That be amazing.
Totally! David Lynch could be added to that mix
If you want body horror, surely it's got to be directed by David Cronenberg?
@@tomsquire2293 I'd prefer Shinya Tsukamoto. Besides Trent worked with him before.
@@Zeitgeist6 Hell, since the soundtrack would be a collab, why not two directors too?
@@sillyrabs don't forget cronenberg too lol
Danny Elfman has been helping to breath life back into industrial, but he's pushing it into a progressive niche. Progressive industrial. Reznor cements this.
Progressive industrial, now that's a genre that needs more exploration.
Check out “Author and Punisher” they would fit nicely in that genre tag.
I’m so glad this exists. That opening is like musical Alchemy.
Danny Elfman is doing the score to Doctor Strange 2, which is supposedly going to have strong horror vibes, and god I hope this is a taste of what that score's going to be like if this is the type of sound Elfman's been exploring recently!
Oh, that’s perfect. Can’t wait.
I hoped that would be Doctor Who.
i agree
Him scoring Doctor Strange 2 is just perfect! Was already as excited as one can be for that film, but Danny being announced as the composer (and he’s back with Raimi, of course) definitely was the icing on the cake. Now while I do think his film scoring will ultimately remain different from his industrial-influenced album, it would be awesome to hear some of these elements in Multiverse of Madness. Regardless, love that he’s composing it
Silence is preferable
NIN spoke to my soul, got me through tough times. NIN 4EVA
I'm literally beyond in love with the visuals of this video. I can't describe what it makes me feel, but I like it...
You may require therapy my friend, as these are the images of nightmares. The feeling they confer is discomfort laced with fevered elation, the likes of which are derived from a primordial self loathing.
@@MF-R wat
Check out Begotten for some really disturbing visuals.
Very Rob Sheridan
Play silent hill 2 or 3. You'll be home.
UNBELIEVABLE 😱😱😱🤘🤘🤘🤩🤩🤯
This needs to be on the intro credits of the next James Bond or something. Or any movie. Seriously.
Cant...stop....hitting.....replay..
I love the collaboration and the fact I can hear Dear Prudence in the undertones. Musical geniuses these two!
Hellz yea!
Trent will live forever
The return of Josh Freese, Elfman is brilliant!
He is drumming on this?
@@tallon5450 yep look at the credits
Seven days from now, Danny Elfman is going to scuttle out of my tv and crawl across the ceiling, isn't he?
..... Chills....Awesome🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Elfman and Reznor. 👌AWESOME!!!
Danny Elfman and Trent Reznor: a combo I never knew would happen and it sounds EXACTLY like I never knew it would
Reznor, Freese & Moulder contributed to this track... INSTANT FAVORITE! The opening is giving me "Reptile" vibes 😊
Glad you hear and feel what I do.
Internal bliss
This is disturbingly beautiful. My English isn't very good, so I can't really describe it into words that you can understand, but I'm sure you all feel similar.
Your English is very good.
I do know exactly how you feel.
I wish I could write in other languages as badly as you write in English.
This is more NIN than actual NIN lately. Love it
Yes. The most NIN sound since The Perfect Drug closed out TDS era. Dark, heavy, loud.. maybe throw in a little religious imagery and it could be from the 90s. Bring back the old sound. Love it!
I’m glad Trent is doing much better now and Bad Witch was absolutely brilliant, but I do like when Trent is Trent alone without Atticus, in small quantities.
@@rum-ham I think With Teeth had some solid moments that didn't feel like they were written in a short amount of time. Ironically, I think that he doesn't like Perfect Drug lol
this goes so hard wtf
Danny Elfman and Trent Reznor making a legit industrial song in 2021. Unexpected good news.
I need an entire album of this. This is amazing
When ever i meet a true nin fan its an instant euphoric connection. You just look at eachother with the utmost emotion and understanding of what this music has done for you!
I hear Bowie, definitely hear Bowie...and it thrillllllls me.
OMG...a dream pairing.
What in the sweet Jesus is this musical miracle of a marriage I hear?
It took me a while to learn how to listen to this tune - the melody isn't in the vocals or in the groove - it's in the background piano and strings. Congrats to Danny & Trent for putting together something that's a challenge to listen to.
I knew Trent would love this when I first heard it
Genius
The public needed this. Such beautiful chaos
I'm really hope they've done like 20 more songs together. They each bring their own perfect dissonance from their craft. I will always be ready for this.
Ah... brings back memories of Danny letting the devil out on stage. In an age where we've seen both Reznor and Elfman produce wholesome, family-friendly soundtracks, it's nice to see them both show us their hearts of darkness. But I never expected it would be in the same song... Glorious!
Yyyyyyeeeesssss
Utterly wonderful.
Did... Did he just save 2021? I think he just saved 2021.
I have no words this is like a goth industrial fantasy coming true. Just wow
Yes
This is industrial!!!
Trent Reznor and Danny Elfman are so important to me. I wish I had better words to explain
Wow! This make me feel like we were still in the 90's... i want more :)
Speaks volumes that I heard this version before I was even aware of the original, which is pretty awesome to begin with, but Reznor gives it the feels it was always meant to have, and without mangling Elfman's vision or making it unrecognizable. Then again, it would be hard to miss a collaboration as epic as Danny Elfman and Trent Reznor. They are both titans in the music industry and innovators in terms of what it means to be a musician. Incredible stuff! I'll have this stuck in my head for weeks.
Holy fuck - Trent and Elfman together is everything I didn’t know I needed. Now I want a full album!! 😍
Yeah, me too!
Holy shit guys why is nobody even mentioning this is Josh Freese on drums and it was mixed by Alan Moulder!
The NIN dream team! And Robin Finck played on the original track I believe
@@miketalento611 😱🤘🤘🤘
So are the guitar riffs from Elfman or Reznor? Or possibly one of their guitarists or session guys? Listening to Elfman album, I couldn't help but notice that wildly overdriven guitar which reminded of NIN. I really hope it was Danny himself for some reason
Maybe because 4-7% of people know that :)
Josh Freese has been an official member of Devo for 25 years. I mean, nothing he does will ever top that.
Holy shit I din't expect to be this heavy
Of course you didn't
I can’t imagine how heavy this would be if Trent ever decides to play this in a concert

Super Intense!
It has that "bad guys melting at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark" vibe.....
This is the best description I've seen in the thread so far.
That little guitar solo in the middle is so Elfman and I LOVE IT. This whole song kicks ass. Great Colab. Trent and Danny need to do more songs together. This song is Filthy Beautiful.
AWESOME
Oh Yeah!!!
I have been saying Trent Reznor is the new Danny Elfman and hoping he would score movie sountracks like Danny for about 20 years now; this collaboration is a dream come true.
"it's just like me, to keep listening to this on repeat"
Wooooow
Omg yes!!!
I was literally having a full-blown breakdown and then saw this was released and it completely turned my day around. Sometimes I wonder why I live another day, but then there is little joys like this that make me wanna keep going. Thank you Danny and Trent!
I had quite a bad day myself and this turned my day around. I do know this... life can be difficult to deal with, but its the little things like this that make it all worth it. And I know there are plenty more of these little joys waiting ahead. Keep on keeping on!
