16:53 i noticed that rear tire looks like it is got some bad dry rotting rubber, keep an eye on it. Or just change it out. Thanks for the ride and stay safe!
I think it's probably a combination of things, your only 140lbs and LA is like 220lbs that's a big difference for noticable acceleration. I also think you got a real basic yd100 so to speak cause most yd100's I've had. The 85 comes with a 36t sprocket from factory so you know in case you wanted to know. As far as vibration I would check the mount. Release the rear mount completely and if the motor separates from the seat post tube that is most likely your vibration. Just reattach the motor but make sure the front U bolt is not pulling down on the frame and motor which is what causes the vibration do to extra stress. If you get it centered and I. Correct the vibration ( well most) should go away.
Sadly the YD100 exhaust port can't be bored out nearly as big as the Phantom 85 due to it's common 40mm wide bolt hole pattern....I'm curious how much power the Phantom85 would lose, just by making it's exhaust port smaller, down to the same size as a YD100 port & stock pipe ID.
I can tell you how to get the most out of that stock yd 100. You will need a 32 tooth sprocket. You will need a miniature drillbit set(harbor freight) to drill out the main jet the very next drill size up(very small increment) then take out the filter and filter screen. Reassemble the airbox cover with a nut spacer sandwiched in between carbeurator and red airbox cover, this will create a ram air intake with no air restriction at top speed. Then adjust throttle needle to best top speed setting without running too lean. Knocking is a sign of lean condition. When you get it dialed in the bike will have noticeable more acceleration and much more top speed. This set up is more cruiser and pavement gearing
A proper tune pipe for any two-stroke makes it peppier. I have a experimental 100 cc and I have made all the difference. I also have an 80 cc here as well

After 7 months you finally have a comment on your comment lol. It probably your carburetor. You’ll need to tune it so it’s between rich and lean. The higher the idle, the richer it is. Opposite of that and it’s lean. Clutch issues also come in play but it’s mostly your carburetor.

So you did a video a few years back about wiring a motorized bicycle and putting a regular rectifier and some other things on it to help charge the battery and keep things running My question is back when you did the video the second part of that or another part of that video you came back and said that the pink wire on the regular rectifier needed to be grounded to the frame is that correct
Looks like youtube pulled your URL. In any case, turns out the generator peaked around 12V and was actually designed for use directly with 6V incandescent bulbs. So, that being said, it couldn't put out enough voltage to charge the battery as the rectifier needs to have around 14.5V on the input side. Hope this info helps.
Yeah that helps some I went ahead and wired it in and so far I have a 12 volt headlight and a 12 volt horn I have it installed any other lights yet though other than that so far it's keeping charge of the 12 volt battery so what you're saying is is it the lights need to be less than 12 volt
that yd100 has some balls you have a restrictive pipe on the yd100 and the phantom basically has a straight pipe on it with a Silencer on the end of it you should get some longevity out of her according to ERT they got there's up to 56 on a chain saw piston and it's still going strong when my chain saw piston comes in that's what I also am going to do ride safe
For the sake of this comparison, I wanted the YD100 to remain in stock form as a bought it. I'm sure upgrading the exhaust would greatly increase the performance as it is a very quiet muffler.
It wasnt clutch slip, that motor has compression and it doesnt turn over easy like your little china dolls. That motor requires a solid frame, it is not like the bottom end it sits on.
Yes, I did notice after a couple of starts it seemed to be more of a compression thing. I needed more wheel speed to get enough torque to turn the engine over.
@@pulsar2121 ive had my phantom for about 4 months now, and it is a different motor. Reliable it is not, ive heard of a cylinder port catching rings, and ive had issues with mine. it isnt as practical as other china dolls, but i have mine on a huffy landlock, and it rides quite nicely at my weight of 240lbs Maybe one day ill post a vid here in the appalachians mountains.

@@pascalolesen5187 yeah bub, I was referring to startup and compression, I've got my phantom smoothed and mildly polished, assembled and running well. I need to seal my tank, I'm slow leaking by the petcock, and I believe it's getting too much fuel to the engine, not hitting powerband proper. Too much gas, not enough air.
Other than that, I'm thoroughly happy with my phantom. It will go up the biggest hill in my town, half a mile of 25% grade incline. Just gotta watch the temp, it's way too fun to ride, I dont wanna burn it up.
I'm under the impression that what you felt was the low end torque of an engine with a larger bore and cylinder and it spooked you. 😬 But honestly, your safety is the most important thing.
Yes, I'm aware of the sound. It's been like that out of the box. Many commenters have suggested it's the clutch, but I don't care to fix it until its broken.
Which tachometer would you recommend? I've always thought about adding one to my motorized bikes, but I haven't been able to find a tachometer for 2 stroke engines.

What type of Sprocket are you using with the phantom 85 i live in a really hilly area i could go with a regular 88 cc but it needs to go faster than 25 or 30 miles per hour im going to start building one hear soon and riding out of town it needs to pull at least 35 40 mph

Even I am guilty at times of having those feelings. Maybe the way we are raised or media. Anyways I don't think that is a correct way to respond to things like that in life, we can all be wrong though. Some one elses experience is not wrong just because it does not match yours or your expectations.
Sorry buddy. I would keep watching but at the point where you talk about introducing air with exhaust leaks is where I stop watching. I don’t want to tear someone down so instead of cutting you off I’ll give a little advice. A 2 stroke with a expansion chamber will out perform a straight pipe 2 stroke engine. This is because of back flow pressure. Ideally you want back flow pressure but with the stock kits the exhaust systems don’t offer much as far as performance and back flow pressure leading to people straight (piping) there exhaust (pipe). This does have some negative long term affects. The engine will run hotter a little bit. If tuned correctly the straight pipe can be done but your cylinder won’t last longer than a cylinder with a expansion chamber. Bottom line exhaust leaks has nothing to do with introducing an air leak. Likely your yd100 runs better with the clip at the highest point of the needle. You did say it has 2 tanks worth of running so it’s brand new. More oil= more rich mixture of gas/air (not technically how that works) but if the needle is at stock setting more oil on a new engine would give the affects of running richer.
Thanks for the insight. Back in the day, I had run some china dolls with no exhaust pipe and they seemed to run lean. Basically a high idle and no throttle response. That was what I was basing that off-the-cuff remark on in the video. Your explanation makes more sense. I'm no expert by any means and stuff is bound to happen when putting yourself out there on the internet unscripted. Thanks for understanding.
Your video didn't prove anything. If your yd 100 only does 30 its not right.Even with a 44 tooth gear should go faster. The phantom is junk unless you modify it alot.New piston and needle bearing. But thanks man.
It's not going to go 45 or 60 miles an hour number one number two you have a version 2 most likely version 1 Phantom 85 the new version just came out version 3 and they worked all the bugs out of it it's got a balanced crank they also have solved this nagging issue of the piston rings on one of the ports inside the cylinder wall stainless steel needle bearings I just got mine in the mail about a week ago in a Thursday I'm waiting for the screaming demon from bicycle engines, which I hope is a good bike I hope they fix some of the problems on that bike but anyway you have old motor that has an unbalanced crank that's why it's vibrating like crazy also if your motor mounts aren't perfect
It didn’t sound like you got the rpms up high enough to prove anything on the yd100😂 & LA Hoover would’ve made it up the hill without dying out. He knows that the rpm’s need to be up a little more so it could make it with the Phantom or the YD100. Just sayin Bud…..
Neither this kid nor LA Hover id consider good riders. LA at least makes good content, but the best part i got from this was watching this kids reaction to not alot of speed. Get that phantom on a better bike before you hurt yourself kid!
Thought I was the only one. I can get my 66cc going more reliable than he did the yd100. I set my 66cc up for riding trails and would soar up anything he showed the yd struggle on.
It's a fixed gear bike. You can only do so much without riding the clutch and starting at a higher speed doesn't seem like a very realistic test to me. I was just trying to give some form of a real world comparison for the audience that made sense.
Man it seems like most of the phantom videos I have seen on versions 1 & 2 have detonated due to extremely poor designs. Sounds like you are having to use a YD head for a reason, curious if it's due to engine failure of a previous phantom top end. Your even being very gentle on it. Anyway, I don't know All the stories about them but they are $300 for the kit and that is a lot of money for me to spend on something that is probably going to be unreliable unless I baby it. I want to run the crap out of my bike!! Thanks for the video brother, I'm going to listen and STFU now. Laters
Seems as though they used their customers as beta testers, I sure hope they are replacing some of the damaged engines probably not, IDK. But just seeing the failure points lets me know it was probably designed by an amateur that had done little to no testing. I know you sell engine kits, so you have to continue to test the new versions for homework sake, but I'm glad you have the guts to explain that you have had more failures than success and 80% failure rate after running for a very short time is straight up Bullspit. I will never get one of those until they have been defect Free for a few years, but probably not... I'd not like to put money in the pocket of those who obviously took advantage of the customers, that's wrong to hype them up and send them faulty equipment, in fact IMO it's unforgivable and unacceptable. It seems to me that even if they sent New parts they would still explode again due to severely faulty design. These things cost $300! Wow. Glad you were clear about the failure. Hopefully third is a charm, but All those guys who got versions 1&2 got screwed man. Not just one version but a second? Who built this thing, they need to be identified in case they try it with another name.
Not to worry. There's still plenty of work to be done on the 4-stroke build that will inevitably become more videos. I'm glad you're enjoying the series.
I attempted to make the comparison as fair as possible. I did indeed use all of the throttle at times for both engines. I have since swapped the exhaust pipe from the Phantom 85 over to the YD100 and it picked up a lot of torque down low, which suggests the stock exhaust was a restriction.
The YD 100 is junk At least the one I got is It runs fine and all but it's gutless and was poorly built. I had to do a lot of work and cleaning to get it to this point.

@@christianhunt7382 Yes you have to order not assembeld and then use a rubber wheel and dremel to smooth the inner ports, then use a brillo pad for the final prep. this will insure no ring snags and better ring seal
Are those both motors us only?
I'm under the impression that what you felt was the low end torque of an engine with a larger bore and cylinder and it spooked you. 😬 But honestly, your safety is the most important thing.
Your yd100 sounded like it was gonna sieze up on you ,you could definitely hear it on camera
I'm getting the chainsaw headed yd100 off eBay. Dude builds them up, 139$
You have a link for that?
@@DesertSessions93 larger intake and Exhaust ports. Flow way more air then a stock yd-100. I think she kick some Phantom 85 ass
@@DesertSessions93 2 Stroke LD100 Motor-Upgraded YD100 Motor - 50MM 79C/80CC/100CC Engine Only , copy paste that to eBay
That's why yd100 has some serious problems going on. You can't hear that loud chirping coming from your motor?
Yes, I'm aware of the sound. It's been like that out of the box. Many commenters have suggested it's the clutch, but I don't care to fix it until its broken.
Where is the video where you crashed it?
maybe the phantom has air leak that's why is idle crazy or maybe is like you said is only carburetor adjustment.
what is the cost per cell
Best suggestion...get a tach. Really does not sound like that yd100 is getting into it's power range.
Which tachometer would you recommend? I've always thought about adding one to my motorized bikes, but I haven't been able to find a tachometer for 2 stroke engines.
@@pulsar2121 almost all of them you will find have both a 2 a 4 stroke setting. Man I'm curious what happens to that p85 with the saw piston. Hope for the best 🤞
Amazon has several options
Cut groves into your clutch plate like the rotors on break pads.
My pexmor 100cc had way more than this im so confused... i have the phantom v3 coming and hopefully it's all its hyped up to be
okay so.... did you try em, or just fooling around?
I weigh 105 kg and my Phantom 85 pulls me just fine. I wouldn't call it a race motor by any means.
Fair enough. Rider definitely has an impact on the power to weight ratio of motorized bikes.
My phantom rips up mountains so I think your lil hill climb was driver error. Cause these phantoms are monsters if you break them in right an take care them
What type of Sprocket are you using with the phantom 85 i live in a really hilly area i could go with a regular 88 cc but it needs to go faster than 25 or 30 miles per hour im going to start building one hear soon and riding out of town it needs to pull at least 35 40 mph
lol of course his experience didnt mimic yours so he must have done something wrong.... why do people take offense if something they like doesnt work as well for others? Even I am guilty at times of having those feelings. Maybe the way we are raised or media. Anyways I don't think that is a correct way to respond to things like that in life, we can all be wrong though. Some one elses experience is not wrong just because it does not match yours or your expectations.
That pinging is the engine getting a little warm. Not enough airflow at slow speeds
Excellent
@@pulsar2121 your welcome
The exhaust was quiet compared to mine LOL
Mine top out at 62 had it there like 3 times
Your video didn't prove anything. If your yd 100 only does 30 its not right.Even with a 44 tooth gear should go faster. The phantom is junk unless you modify it alot.New piston and needle bearing. But thanks man.
Wow 20mph had you scared. Wow too loud??? Mašne we should get you some training wheels.
49cc made for You!
Nice motor
Часто тепловой прихват.
В России и Белоруссии китайская чепуха постоянно прихватывается
I got the yd and don't have near that many problems
Sorry man but ur riding ability isn't really something I would film. It was making me cringe. Sorry mate
He definitely was pussy-footing on the throttle
Who built this thing, they need to be identified in case they try it with another name.
ehh, I'm 10000x more interested in your 4 stroke build. Still gotta shake up the content.
Not to worry. There's still plenty of work to be done on the 4-stroke build that will inevitably become more videos. I'm glad you're enjoying the series.
4 stroke engines are bad ass
I have 85 for food delivery work but this IS a crazy machine. Not comfortable at all. Noisy like hell.
Hey man, I hear ya. The vibrations and exhaust noise are wild.
@@pulsar2121 but fast and powerful
Put that same small exhaust on the phantom and see what power its got 😂
Your YD100 don't sound right. It almost sounds like it's 4 stroking. You may want to take the jug off and inspect it. Maybe needs porting.
I had the exact same yd 100 motor and it was way faster stock😒😒, maybe try pressing the throttle more than 1/4 of the way next time 😉
I attempted to make the comparison as fair as possible. I did indeed use all of the throttle at times for both engines. I have since swapped the exhaust pipe from the Phantom 85 over to the YD100 and it picked up a lot of torque down low, which suggests the stock exhaust was a restriction.
ir probably didnt get damaged in shipping haha. he wrecked once that we know of. hes no stranger to speed or takin a spill here and there

You look like lt coffee from the Abyss
Yd 100 is like a diesel truck 😂😂😂 you need to take the exhaust cap off for more power out the yd100
