Superb proof of concept!! The sterling dialog and story needs no refining, but having the graphics, the ease/fluidity of motion, enhanced combat, streamlined "phasing", etc., would send the LoK games into the stratosphere!

i usually dislike these "___ in UE5!" videos cause it's usually just a ripped character in a stock scene with a few cinematic fly throughs and very low effort, but this actually looks like you put in a good deal of work. especially if you made that Raziel model, it looks great. nice work
To me...I always wanted a remake that's game engine was a 1:1 rendering of the software used to create the opening cutscene. One that transitioned seamlessly into the game.
I am very happy they remastered it with updated graphics, but honestly I would love to see Raziel resurrected in a new game with updated graphics like these.
Something I just realized about the actual Raziel wraith model when looking at this model is the wing flaps' location for his wraith model don't match his vampire model in the FMV intro and on top of that, given the placement of said flaps on his vampire model as well as the end result of Kain tearing Raziel's wing bones apart, not only is Raziel missing his leftover bones from the base of where his wings should be, he shouldn't even have the flaps any more given that the flesh they were actually attached to (to the right and left of his lower spinal column, parallel to his stomach) is gone meaning we should only have the leftover wing bones that would be at the base of his spine which wouldn't be much. Sorry to everyone for this cursed knowledge but if I must suffer, you all must suffer.
Gorgeous work! If one day there's a complete remake, I hope they go with the original storyline and do a soulslike. It already feels like one somewhat anyways.

That's what these recent 'look what i did' projects have all been like, off the shelf controllers dragged onto a raziel model. I mean 10 years ago i'd say wow amazing take my money but I'm pretty sure this took about 4 hours to make, maybe 8 if the obstacle course isn't also off the marketplace :P

The model does look pretty nice, but movements don't really fit Raziels style, the dimension warping is not really existing and the phasing through bars also isn't really existing, it's just like there are no bars at all. Ps: How long did it take you do make this?
I kept a really bad track of the time, but I'd say the model itself took about 2 weeks working on it on and off. Gameplay and such might have taken about a week's worth of work. I work on it in my spare time, so tracking is hard
I want to create a few more obstacle courses, but the whole of a Defiance mission could be tricky with all the different mechanics and the different way this one moves and behaves

Thank you, but I must say the remaster is really amazing. Being tied to the original's engine and gameplay creates its own sets of restrictions, and they navigated those incredibly well. For this one, starting from the UE example gives me a ton of freedom they just couldn't get
I've been using this to learn more Unreal and get some experience with Niagara in an actual game context. Not sure about releasing it in any capacity considering copyrights and such

raziel look good, but the physic how he move through bars is non-existing , and idk why every game must be a quake like fast paste shit...a working game on high frames doesnt need to be speed boosted....
The intent was to make it more fluid and dynamic than the old games, the free movement on the bars felt like it would connect well with the more free motion
What you are asking for is a remake, not a remaster. I don't think there is any point of remaking Soulreaver 1 and 2. Remastered visions are very good. What we need is the next Legacy of Kain game.
@NinesIng Well I have the Remaster and I gotta say it's not all that good... it's not a good port over to steam and there's bugs and glitches in the Remaster games... so I think personally a remake of the games using U5 would of just been better in my opinion

Ps: If you think a remake would be better then get in touch with Crystal Dynamics and fund the whole project yourself. At this point a whole remake would have been a huge gamble on the studios part, because the franchise has been dead for centuries and it wasn't a big selling franchise to begin with. So dumping lots of money into a remake, which probably wouldn't even sell enough copies to refund the whole is just irresponsible.

I know the downsides of owning a Switch and i still really like it as a gaming system. Ps: The MSRP for new games is usually the same across most platforms, but steam "cuts off" the console tax and the games are more heavily and more often discounted on steam, which might not be beneficial for devs (in terms of earning money in the long run) and then there is also the problem of way too cheap steam keys being sold on shady platforms, which hurts devs even more. But yes, Steam is the biggest market place on PC and there often is no way around it.

Eh, there's been a couple of these over the last month, and everyone makes the realm switch instant and the grates uncollided. I mean, well done with the model and some of the lighting, but the movement is just assasin's creed again. Give it a bit more soul reaver, make the guy heavy and strong, and the grates are T posed through :)
I want to dig a bit more into the way the animations work to make adjustments like this, thanks for the feedback! I wanted to keep the grates more free-movement in the spectral realm to make things more fluid and allow for things like grates on ceilings/floors that the original game couldn't really do

Yeah he should be more feral, like Predator but more agile like spiderman. This is a tech demo tho. Most of these animations are placeholders

The animations are part of Unreal's motion matching example, I just retargeted them to work with Raziel's skeleton
