This whole thing is a giant PR fluff piece. What soldier would get praised for using their rifle like a cane or having it pointed at their own face because they're too tired. This is all just PR for the public's eyes because "inclusion". Thankfully this is happening more in support roles but this mantra has been extended to combat roles in some cases and that's cringe.

As a veteran, this makes me just SMH. When women were first admitted into the military, way back whenever, the physical fitness standards were the same for everyone. However, fairly quickly, women were failing the PT tests en masse, so the standards were lowered. Don't believe me? Look up the new Army standards for men and the standards for women in the same age group. They are substantially lower. But, hey, women are just as strong or stronger, right?
Thats how it should have been. I see nothing wrong with women being in the military, but if you cant cut it, you cant cut it.
We had to change a whole event in the ACFT because a vast majority of women in the Army can't do a pull up. It's fucking crazy

I'll never forget, I was in Africa with 3 other Marines and we were tasked to customs clean hundreds of vehicles within 2 weeks. I mean suited up and power wash everything, soaked head to toe for 12 hours each day. Not a life threatening job of course but we were told we were gonna get some recognition for our hard work by the end so it motivated us to work harder. At the end. you know who got recognition? The two female marines for "fileing insurmountable amounts of paper work on behalf of the Commisioning Officer blah blah blah". It stung watching the two bimbos who were cooped up in a building with AC, sitting in chairs all day, (who also got weekend leave) and was allowed to leave to get food, get rewarded. Very minor but it opened my eyes to this type of treatment

As a disabled Iraq war Army Veteran myself I feel really bad for anyone serving in the armed forces today. People like that will become a serious liability when it comes to an actual combat situation. Most of the people I know that were still in are not reenlisting for reasons like this.

Our enemies don't care who they target. Combat preparedness is something that we all learn and I deployed out of Ft Sam Houston which is a medical training base for the Army.

There are jobs women can do in the military that don't require people to be physically strong. Some of those tests are meant to test endurance, stamina and to stay physically fit - that's all.

Not only is a medic supposed to be able to carry their gear, they’re supposed to be able to pull another 150+ pound soldier THATS carrying 80-100 pounds of gear to safety. As a female, I gotta agree. I served under a captain that did everything half ass and I didn't respect her. She was one of the worst people I ever met and acted like she was better than everyone because she was a captain. She was a horrible leader.
When I was in basic training, I was called one of the weakest soldiers. I agreed with them and I tried to do my best to keep up with everyone and try my best. I got out 2 years later because mentally I was not fit to serve.

The best way to check if a gun is loading is to look directly into the barrel while keeping your finger on the trigger as safety to make sure nothing else can bump against the trigger.
I was in a highschool military program and this small, 5'2" girl carried around a replica SAW for two weeks in the woods without complaining or slowing down. That was inspiring

My husband is an NCO in the army and what Aba said is 100% on point. A lot of the officers were never even enlisted and that also plays a huge role in the amount of respect they get from the enlisted or prior enlisted guys. My husband went to Ranger School this past year and there was a woman who was getting all kinds of help from other guys and the RI's and they never recycled her for any of the phases. Not based on her capability. But because the men around her were willing to pander and kiss her butt. It's sad the state of things
I was a simulated casualty. The ambulance personnel consisted of a man and a woman. I’m 6ft 2in, 210 lbs, add in my MOPP gear, flak vest etc i was probably over 250lbs. She couldn’t lift her end. I had to get off of the stretcher, get in the ambulance and get back on the stretcher. God forbid we go to war with all of our PC policies.

I've been a firefighter in a large midwestern city for over 25 years. The physical standards have had to be reduced a few times so more women could pass. The fitness test for a 20 year old female is easier than the one for a 60 year old male.

@@TheJarric That about sums up how it is in the military also. Men do the physical parts and women do the paperwork. When I was in combat comm when all our equipment was packed in boxes the safety weight requirements were measured out by the male standards. So a 200lb box was considered a 4 man lift. If the females who just passed the female lifting requirements had to life it then it would turn into a 6 person lift. Problem is the boxes had 4 handles. Most times it was just faster and easier for the 2 guys to lift the box themselves

What was even more concerning was after that march she was completely useless, the point of that exercise is to complete it AND still be combat effective, she would be a liability until she recovered, which would be in a couple days...or longer. That kind of muscle failure and exhaustion do not recover quickly.
I have served in elite military which means having to cover ground over long distances with a load, reaching a target and then attacking such as on an elevated surface and then fighting at the end like standard infantry to the exact same standards.
Those operations are not five minute operations and I have never meet a women that could do that not even elite level athletes. The differences in strength, stamina, accuracy and judgement in combat between men and women is so vast that women cannot do it. Modern media has given the impression that it is sexist to do that.

You don’t belong in the military, its that simple, its a matter of life and death and you simply must be able to perform so both you and your fellow soldier has a chance to make it back alive.

I watched a documentary on youtube about the intense tests you need to pass to become a swedish jäger, there was 1 woman amongst like 200 men and she didnt have any lowered standards (what i could tell) and surprisingly she was one of the few who passed (around 50 I believe) proving it can be done. So lowering the standards is just a very big safety risk for everyone.
As a middle-aged woman and feminist, I have always believed feminism means making opportunities available for everyone. It doesn't mean lowering standards. So, women have the opportunity to become Navy SEALs, but that doesn't mean we drop the standards if they can't cut it. Those standards exist for a reason. When did opportunities become guarantees?
Edited to add: The first woman to become a Navy SEAL did so in 2021.
Unfortunately most feminists do not understand that equal opportunity and equal outcome are very different things and opportunity has been equal for quite a long time now but its never enough they want outcomes too which is not equality at all.
It does not matter how people feel about issues. You can ask about equal opportunities but you can’t dictate the same outcome. These are two different thing. It will alway slow down progress if you base your equality on gender and not competency.

I carried 70 pounds for 7 hours a day on average for 30 days, hiked 120 miles through the mountains of Wyoming, and I was out of shape, and 80 pounds overweight. It was hard but I did it, but a literal captain in the military can’t carry the same weight on flat ground for much less time. That’s incredibly sad
This is what we have to deal as men in the military women get called heroes and brave for doing the bare minimum. This woman can't complete a 12 mile hump in 3 hours without almost passing out and the funny thing is this wasn't her first time taking the test because she felled to complete it multiple times before. As a ARMY vet, the PT test standards for women are stuff middle school boys could do. Overall for men and women it is pretty easy, you would have to be completely lazy to not be able to pass the PT test.

I'm in the Marine Corps, the female standard is a joke, my personal experience was MCMAP, I HAD A LITERALLY FEMALE SGT GRAPPLING ME, WISPERING TO ME TO LET HER WIN. I didn't let her win, i made her tap 3x lol. pay what you owe, she had to do 200 burpees for loosing. The instructor ended up giving her the belt even though she failed the test out 2x in a row. Those views are my own and are not in any way the USMCs or Governments.
The US Military has refused to publish their retention rates for the last two years. Before 2019 they published that chart like clockwork as soon as the new year started! Wonder what changed? I have heard that retention of NCO's is nearing 50% for the last two years! And that unqualified women being unfairly promoted over fully qualified men is the sole reason.

She's an officer...that tells me all I need to know about her "combat potential". The only officers I trust in combat are pilots in the sky, spec ops officers, and Infantry officers above the rank of O-1.
Worse, she's a MEDICAL officer. You know where you find medical officers? In an air-conditioned clinic all day. Enlisted medics are the ones who do the actual grunt work, and they basically have to learn on the job to perform at the level of a Registered Nurse. I was a medic, and after I left, I went to college to study for a Bachelor's in Nursing, and I literally learned absolutely nothing new. Everything they taught me in the classroom, I already knew from my work as a medic.
@@DVAcme Trust me I know what you mean man. The green side corpsman attached to my company were better at doing everything than the officers were from IV's to trauma intervention. The best doctor I ever met was a prior enlisted green side corpsman who became a navy doctor.
When I was active in the Marines, we held the same standards for everyone regardless of gender. Yet when a female barely scrapes by on something, you have civilians putting them on a pedestal. If they want to highlight a success story, they should talk about the female Marines who were the first to graduate School of Infantry.

Back in my day, as a young 19year old Devil Dog, our whole Battalion completed a 19mile combat load hump in 4 hours! Now that was a 90lb pack, not including helmet, flack jacket, 782 gear, water, weapon and rounds, Wpns Plt. base plates, tubes, machine guns, extra barrels, extra rounds & ammo cans etc.! Most motivating thing was looking up and seeing your 50+ year old Battalion Commander, same gear and load, leading his Marines from the front!! At that time, for us Grunts, we did that shit, seems like every other month! Good thing that weapon wasn't loaded, how about some muzzle discipline Mam!

I tell you, I'm a Marine, my father was army and ran a medical unit. He was one of the few to pass on the EFMB. From hearing him tell about it, the EFMB is no joke. It's kin to a special forces badge, but for medics. The physical ans mental strain on top of the sleep deprivation while performing surgical grade skills is impressive. These guys save lives.

In the context of the medics it could be described as elite meaning one of the best. There are Pararescue and other groups as well.

as a former combat medic, I can say that there are some jobs women shouldn't do unless they can prove they are able to. like field medic where picking up a patient is required. but in a hospital setting I've seen some great female medics.
Exactly, no matter who it is you must be able to do the job that’s required, giving anyone an easier standard in life and death scenarios is a recipe for disaster, if a man can’t carry someone he fails and if a woman can’t carry someone they should fail also.

Hey my father was a combat medic, he said the same thing. When he was going through training they all worried about a woman on their team since everytime they had to move a stretcher it would always be dragging if you had the woman on the team.

And yes, there are requirements for different aspects as well, others must not have been able to navigate, nor pass medical test, work under stress, etc.

Thank you for the insight and for keeping it real as always. My thoughts as a US Army Vet (42A Human Resources). I was a paratrooper my whole career so the physical standards were a little higher than most units (not SF or Ranger level; but, it was intense at times). I've had male 1st sergeants who were just the laziest, unmotivated POS and I've had some leadership that could run marathons in their sleep but were dumb as a rock. I've been around some women who were she-hulks and some who would literally come to PT with fake nails on....
long story short, most soldiers go their whole service without deploying and even a lot of soldiers who deploy don't actually see real combat. The reality is that many "successful" soldiers are successful because they get high scores on their PT test or they suck their way through promotions. Most grunts who have gone through some real shit typically get out after a few deployments because it will take a toll. Very rare you find an actual badass who is in leadership that cares about their troops male or female. The military is the biggest dog & pony show on the planet. So do with that information what you will.

This isn't meant as a brag. But I went into boot camp as a hardcore vegetarian. When I got there, there was no food for me so I subsisted on peas, carrots and water. Many people in my flight knew about my struggle. No one gave a crap. I was expected to meet the male requirement or wash out. When I succeeded, no one patted me on the back. I didn't ask for sympathy or praise. It was the hardest thing I did, but I did it.
This kind of stuff annoys me because a man is supposed to just buck up and deal with it like we aren't humans. When I served, women were generally treated much nicer with easier standards and jobs. It's an annoying double standard that annoys me.

How are you going to stay vegetarian in a combat situation? For example, what if you're trapped behind enemy lines, and you don't have vegetarian food? Or what you run out and all there is are non-veggie rations? Or what if you're forced to travel a long distance with all your gear and you need high protein, high cal foods that veggies just can't provide. I'm not critisising you, I'll really wondering what you do in these situations.

True story: I was a US Army 68W, Health Care Specialist i.e. a combat medic. I was in what was called an Area Support Medical Company, a unit which would lend medics to other units during training when they didn't have their own. I was assigned to assist a particular unit, and there was this female soldier who came in complaining of horrible abdominal pain. She came in with a "battle buddy"(what we call a fellow soldier who accompanies a casualty), and we moved her to our field hospital, so we could do a quick medical examination and history on her before moving her to a hospital proper.
While doing her medical history, her battle buddy told me that she would have those pains twice a month, like clockwork, which raised MASSIVE red flags. My first thought was that she might have endometriosis, which is a pretty common issue with women's menstruation that causes immense pain during their periods, but being told it happened twice a month made me suspect it might straight-up be malingering, the term we have for faking an illness to get out of work. I asked her when her periods would/ drop, and she confirmed she'd have them TWICE a month. I asked her then if she had gone to a gynecologist to get checked, cause that shit wasn't normal, and she said, and I quote, "I ain't letting anyone check up my pussy but my man, nigga, get the fuck out of here with that gynecologist shit."
(she was Puertorican like me, but from New York, while I'm island-born, hence her using the n-word like that)
I then told her that's no excuse, that she needs to get checked because it's a problem that's affecting her ability to work and she can't keep missing training like that, and she goes "I ain't doing shit, you ain't my commander, and if you keep hasslin' me, I'll report you for sexual discrimination."
Now see, in the Army, in certain MOS's (Military Occupational Specialties, i.e. Army jobs), there's a concept called "billet over rank." What that refers to is that there's certain jobs in the service which are so essential that the job makes you UNTOUCHABLE within your area of expertise. Basically, absolutely no one can refuse an order from you as long as it's within the scope of your job, not even if they outrank you. The only people who can are soldiers of a higher rank who have the same job as you, and if they do, then they take over your job, cause the logic is that they know better than you and are taking charge for the good of the mission.
NO FUCKING JOBS in the US Army are as FUCKING MUCH billet over rank as MEDICAL.
I then pull out my notebook and a pen, and I show them to her and tell her this:
"You see this? This is your worst nightmare right now. Cause guess what: you signed a contract to join the US Army, and the moment you did, your body doesn't belong to you, it belongs to good ol' Uncle Sam. You have two choices. Choice 1 is you go to a gynecologist and get checked, get that treated properly and go on your merry way. Choice 2 is that I write you up as disrespecting and refusing orders from medical personnel, choosing to ignore an illness that is affecting your capacity to operate in military manner, and recommending dismissal from the Army for dereliction of duty. And trust me, I'm acting in my capacity as medical personnel, you can accuse me of sexual discrimination til your face turns blue and it won't fucking stick. So either shut the fuck up and do what I told you to or get the fuck out and face the consequences."
Well, that girl decided to fuck around and find out, and holy shit, did THAT ever go badly for her. I ended up writing exactly what I said I would, then I went to her commander and gave him the write-up. About three months later, I was once again assigned to assist the same unit, and lo and behold, the commander gave her the ultimatum of her going to the gynecologist for medical treatment and she refused, so she was given a General Discharge and kicked the fuck out of the unit. Well, a General Discharge is a less-than Honorable Discharge, i.e. given for bad behavior and refusal to correct it, so she lost her enlistment bonus and all the Army scholarships she had qualified for.
So yeah, don't try to pull the sexism card on a medic when you're in the wrong.
Makes sense, if you can't listen to high-ranking personnel, a DOCTOR no less, during the relatively calm environment of a medical room, how the hell are your commanding officers going to know you won't freak the fuck out and disobey orders in a combat scenario, potentially getting yourself and others killed

I have a friend who's a Firefighter. There has been a real push to put more women and minorities in those roles. Admirable... if it wasn't potentially dangerous or fatal. As soon as you hire to fill quotas VS actual ability in roles this important... it's scary. If you need to save me from a burning building my thoughts aren't going to be "Thank god you're a Trans, black woman." it's going to be "Are you able to deadlift my 185 pound body down 5 flights of stairs?"

friend of mine told me of a similar march he had when he was in special forces. the guy next to him passed out not too far from the end. he grabbed him and carried the dude, plus his 30kg of gear, plus the dude's 30kg of gear all the way back to base. the minute he reached base, he dropped everything and passed out himself. he woke up in the infirmary on I.V. what did he get? the rest of the day off xD
That sounds about right. After a 22 miler in Korea (w/everyone's feet all kinds of F'ked up), they wanted us to do physical training the next morning. That was the one time I told the 1sg F'k No. I was surprised it actually worked!

12 mile hike,shit when I went through basic training it was a 20 mile force March full combat pack,pistol belt,ammo pouches,intrenching tool,1/2 tent,canteen full of water and pancho.The March was not all flat ,but a serious hill climbing,and going down into canyons and climbing back…12 mile hike !!!

As a Marine I always found it frustrating that the people who push equality the most wanted nothing to do with it when it came to the physical standard of the Marine Corps. Your PFT score would factor into everything in the military, including promotion, so why would it not be equal? Sadly, most branches of service are not requiring women to perform at the male level but are instead reducing the standard so that everyone can meet the bar because the double standard from before was "sexist". It only serves to weaken or military, is it any surprise that the political class pushing for that is in the pockets of China?
The point is to prevent it from become a boy's club. There needs to be some females in those roles to balance opinions out a bit and give some alternate perspective, even if they aren't as physically capable.
Because then, women could complain about systemic lower pay.
My female Airmen wrote me up for fat-shaming her. She failed her PRT and was put on FEP. All I did was tell her she can take two hours of her working hours to go to the gym.

Yep 20 plus years ago I was active duty Marine and we would go out on unit runs and 90% of the women would be riding in the safety HMMWV buy the time we finished the run. No one ever said shit but god forbid if a man was to fall put of a run.
Man as a Private in the army this was down right disgusting to see. A 12 mile ruck March isn’t anything we did that in basic training emphasizes on BASIC. If any of the anyone in my cycle acted like that even the women the drill sergeants would be fucking us all up. You know what we were told after our 12 mile, “you guys did alright no one fell out of formation, but you were a bit slow and you have not proved anything as you haven’t done anything in the army yet you are still weak babies”. The gap between officers and enlisted joes is huge

I've been in the military for 13 years (I'm female) and as of recent I've noticed this trend where supervisors are pinned to the wall and afraid to take any justifiable disciplinary action against females because of not wanting to make them feel unequal/less/ singled out and I'm talking about them making the same mistakes that another dude will make. New female members have been coming to the squadron already placed on a pedestal because the males want to make them comfortable but that in turn gives the female this sense that she's untouchable. It's crazy and absolutely unfair to the new males that have been chugging along doing great things and being unrecognized.

That sounds like the Air Force to me. We see some of that in the Marine Corps too. Though not nearly as much. The Marines have the lowest percentage of women and it's usually rare to get one in a field MOS. I was an 0311 (infantry rifleman) and I didn't have any women in my platoon. The only women I ever saw were usually in the comfy office jobs or the rare female green side corpsman (medic). I had a few friends that were MP's and mechanics. They told me about how females getting priority on all promotions just because female marines were uncommon and catered to. Granted, I respect anyone who went through Parris Island...that's where I went and it's the only place women can go to become marines.
I had to play a casualty and one of the female soldiers was complaining about my size while loading me onto a stretcher…..I’m 510 and 170 pounds.
Even when I was in 15 years ago no one would yell at a female soldier because they didn’t want to lose their rank for sexual harassment.

The media might call this 'truly an inspiration' but when you've been in the military you recognize that it's just somebody finishing the same shit that thousands of other people have finished before them. Bet there was at least one woman who crossed the finish line before her, and weren't crawling and falling down to do it, but we get no videos or news stories of her. To be fair, EFMB is a tough win, and to be fair I guess she also met the standard but why are we getting stories about people who barely go over the bar when other people are smashin' it?
Because it shows someone determined to complete something despite their own personal adversities. It's not just a men vs women thing. You can still praise/admire an obese person willing to work out until borderline collapsing even though most people walk it on a day to day basis. Yes, when it comes to the military specifically, there's the added element of "these people need to be at a certain physical level otherwise they're a risk to themselves and others" but as a whole its not really a confusing or even bad concept. You congratulate people for putting in the effort, not necessarily for smashing it (those you can congratulate based on their talents, not their determination)

Yes you should encourage people to do it, but give them a reason to strive to be the best, not just better then they were before but better then the ones besides them, competition breeds excellency, participation medals breed carelessness, pandering to their "female fragility" only devalues them as people, and in her line of work that can get her or her men killed. When you're dead last it's not a good feeling, I've been there.
There is a reason there area Women's only sports and Men's sports, and there is a reason why women don't like going against trans athletes, knowing that, either they make a different rank for women and men or if they want equality for all they just have one standard for all and those applicants that can meet the standards pass while those that can't don't!

The idea of over comings one's physical and/ or mental limits goes go for a good story and is very much interesting, but the praise of persons who just participate and do the bare minimum oppose to the people that actually put in the work and shine above the rest is crazy. I’m a female vet and believe there should be ONE standard (for sex and age). If there’s less women, so be it. There are SOME women that would be capable and those are the ones that should be there. Unless they want to create a separate female corp for back end support rolls. People can be mad all they want, but the military isn’t an area of inclusion…..literally the opposite. I feel the same about uniformity….waivers galore these days. I would argue that by lowering the standards for females that it actually makes things significantly difficult for us to be accepted and to be treated equally because we did not come in under those pretenses in the first place. Therefore it takes away. It harbors hostilities. For those of us females that can get those scores; people are always going to assume that we got the lesser score. It didn’t matter that I personally made sure I was getting my male counterpart scores…. Because at the end of the day that was not actually required of me therefore you get lumped into the same group. It’s very regressive. I go as far as saying that if the guys have to have their head shaved, so do we. Actual equality. That captain was a horrible example of every sense of the word.

I agree! I also served as an NCO in the military & beat 90% of the guys consistently during these type of exercises…..so it’s not all women in the military! Some people are not as conditioned to do these type of exercises. She’s an officer who should be able to do what her future troops can do.

Was in the Marines when the wars just started. We saw this happening then. It was infuriating. Being in the military isn’t a right. It needs to be discriminatory by the nature of the job. The standard should be the standard whether male, female, dolphin, or trex. It’s stupid. A Captain is getting encouraged by privates. That’s sad.

Um, the military has massive shortage everywhere mainly because the standard American male is about 40 pounds overweight and is more interesting in playing CoD and watchin porn than serving. Woman as elite combat troops is a necessity. Lowering standards can be done and is done for two reasons...#1: There aren't enough recruits...take world war II when the initial filter for a capable infantryman was literacy...well they dropped that in about a month, and the tooth requirement too...#2: They might deem the standard inappropriate for future war situations...one in which navigational skill, technical skills, weapons skills might be more important than brute strength and endurance.

As an Army Woman Vet, I'm appalled at how this is a sign of "strength". I went in after college and had many discussions with my recruiter as to why I refused to go officer with my degree. I can't lead anyone if I didn't get built up like they did. If you didn't go into the military you really can't speak on anything, the standards for Women are a joke compared to what they expect from Men. I definitely agree with Aba that it was eye opening that it wasn't at all what I expected after going in.

I grew up in a military family & went through the boot camp drills with my dad & grandpa when I was in my teens. It's INSANE the level of fitness, accuracy & aptitude men are required to have compared to women. Almost none of them had to carry as much weight, run as far, do as many pushups/pullups/situps or any of that & it was a real eye-opener. Even funnier listening to those same people say they could "do the same work as a man", yet failing miserably & acting like it's the military's fault. Then there's the ones who complain about the draft & don't want to be conscripted at 18, despite all their rallying about being strong & capable. It's a fucking joke.
My aunt was a Captain in the Army and everyone was fine with that because she's medical. The only one who ever questioned her was her dad because he was an Air Force hero who hoped she'd follow in his footsteps

Yes, and as civillian woman who study communication (this including journalistic, propaganda, psywar) I acknowledge that in brutal reality of war, in the battlefield, this female soldier would be the weak link in the troops, and it'll be the main target by the enemies who using her to destroy her troop. Let's be honest, in the war, what usually the most horrible thing happen to woman? Imagine if this female soldier caught by the enemies, tortured and brutally assaulted in front of their male companion by the enemies (to destroy and weaken the mental and psychological state of her male companion, I know it's harsh, but it's actually consider as psychological warfare. Inhuman, but this is war. It indeed happened a lot in history. That's why the most effective using female combatant is as assassin or spy, whatever fight that don't using brute force).
In South East Asia, we have a lot of warlord queens and leaders, but they didn't do this stupidity. In Aceh, Indonesia, we had female admiral (Malahayati) and army commander (Tjoet Nyak Dien and Tjoet Moetia) who fought Dutch colonialist, but they didn't do this too. Queen Kalimanyat from Jepara who lead her Navy to fought Portuguese colonialist, didn't like this either. Modern Western feminist propagandist are so out of touch and not realistic. A woman can be really nasty when they fight, but a man is another level, their body masculine structure is perfectly made for a physical fight.
I do very complicated work on fighter jet electronics (soldering, wire repair, testing, troubleshooting, etc.) One of the most useless and incompetent people in my unit was a girl who slept with her supervisor (who later got kicked out for drug use, so no one was ever punished) and he signed her off on all her proficiency tasks early even though she was nowhere near ready. Because she got signed off so fast, leadership put her up to be field promoted. Despite getting in the military a year and a half after me (and sucking) she was two ranks ahead of me at her three year mark. She constantly broke shit and made far more work for us because she was so utterly incompetent. She would ask questions that 6-month old fresh recruits knew the answers to despite being in a supervisory position.
She was so bad at the job that our leadership invented a new job for her so she would stop breaking shit - she was the "training manager"; basically sitting in the office all day, occasionally having to make a phone call to schedule someone for a class. Then when covid started, while we were all still busting our asses, she got to "telework", meaning she stayed at home to do nothing instead of doing nothing in the office. Meanwhile this girl is making nearly $300/month more than me. I still grind my teeth until they squeak when I hear shit like "women get paid less for doing the same work as men"

When i was still active one of My Marines lost a Meritorious Corporal promotion to a female. They were nearly identical on paper and it came down to their PFT score, physical fitness test. He had a 290 out of 300 she had a 300 but the standards at the time she would have almost failed if she was a male.. he had 23 pull ups she had 4 he had over 120 crunches she had I think 80 and the runs I can't recall but he blew her out of the water.
the standard has been shitty for a long time. I got passed over for meritorious Cpl for a female because I hadn't qualed on rifle yet that year and then that female was on the range with me the next week. Make it make sense
@@zackdavis6961 well you see the you hadn't qualed yet and they couldn't look at previous scores cause that would require work from your S3 and well fuck that they're too busy making slide shows and calenders for the week.

A woman maxing the test is the same standard as a guy barely passing in all branches. How are women not completely embarrassed just knowing this? Also, in combat arms, you better score a lot higher than the minimum as a male or you are in for some bs until you do.

If women cannot acknowledge their physical weakness anymore, the standard of negotiating for women and children in standoff/hostage situations or women and children first in danger/rescue should be revised to only children first.
No one cares. I'd actually love to see a bunch of males cooking dinner for their orphaned kids and running a household.

This is a perfect example of what happens when we allow equality of outcome.... absolutely ridiculous. I'll never say women don't have their place in the military, they most definitely do. There are some BADASS female soldiers with some freaking SKILLS. However.... if you can't do the job, don't do the job. You getting your ranking just to say you did isn't worth someone else's LIFE.

A lot of people fail the course she’s going through both male/female young and old alike and have to try multiple times to complete it.. it’s an extra/expert qualification. It’s NOT the standard for Physical fitness.

When I was a Lifeguard, every 2 years we had to ''requalify'' our certification by doing the minimum physical test required by the Lifesaving society. I believe it should be the same for all the jobs that require a minimum of physical prowess (Militarry, Police, Firefighter ...)

I am a female in the USAF and I completely agree that the standards set for physical fitness has been dumbed down to make it easier. In addition, there are many changes to smaller and unnecessary to "boost morale" or "promote inclusion". We forget that mental health and physical well-being is paramount to keeping a resilent force. It also dumbs down our purpose to be a great fighting force compared to other forces around the globe; jeopardizing our readiness.

@@dickiewongtk most likely no, you will 9/10 be reclassed to a AFSC that you can do until your enlistment is up and then probably force you to not enlist. I have personally seen it.

Yeah, when I was a recruit at Parris Island in the Corps they wouldn't let you exercise after 10 - 11ish or so as it was too hot, and heat casualties were pretty common. One day in line for lunch the Company CO, a Captain, went running by with a pack on his back, and I swear that guy wasn't breaking a sweat. Never complained about exercising in the heat after that, and that one act by the Cpt motivated a lot of us to do better, because he did it too.
He was probably well hydrated but that definitely will earn you a silver bullet if you're not careful 😉
It’s just a perilous standard, “toughing out the heat.” As you said yourself…the casualties were “pretty common.” People ban things when A person dies, sometimes. “Pretty common” is an issue. I’m sure it’s because the Captain was a damn machine, but straight away “not breaking a sweat” is literally the first sign you’re trying to die of actual heat stroke. We picked a LOT of stupid little hills to become demented and die on in the name of being “tough.” I’m in there myself. I’ll never, ever expect my son to hit a ball or someone else with his head, and I don’t feel like a pussy saying it. It just isn’t worth it.
Two things: the Cpt not breaking a sweat is a metaphor for him making it look easy. Second, they took heat casualties seriously and we were constantly reminded if you didn't need to go to the bathroom you needed to drink more water. Those that didn't do this were usually the ones that fell out, as some people can only learn something by experiencing it themselves.
@@elmowilcox The experts also acclimate themselves to the climate before pushing themselves too far. You'll see plenty of special forces UA-cam channels where they complain about the lower-tier forces spending their time in air conditioned tents rather than letting their bodies transition to the newer climate. They pamper themselves at home and then can't survive the outside, so special forces have to step in and do a job that the other guys should have been able to handle.

At the later stages of advanced training in the navy, one of the people I (a man) was closest to was a woman in the same job type. We were pretty neck and neck when it came to grades and evaluations with me being just slightly ahead of her. At the end of advanced training, there was one position open for the top trainee to transfer in immediately as an instructor. I was straight up told by the staff that I would've qualified for that position, but due to diversity requirements, they could only promote a female, so my friend got it instead. Felt pretty crazy at the time to be told I wasn't qualified for promotion due to being a man. That was over 10 years ago. I can only imagine how it is now.

Since gender is a protected characteristic that's crazy to think about. Man or woman, it shouldn't matter. It should be merit based.
You should be the one whose suppose to be promoted. Those who do better should be promoted, not because of diversity requirements. But your take gives people a view of what women has to go through in the workplace for other jobs that has nothing to do with physical ability. Men are chosen because they’re men not because they do better at a job. Both are crap practices. Whoever does better at whatever should just be the one that’s promoted not because of preferences and connections, but I accept that’s just not gonna happen but we could strive to be closer to that.
And modern Feminism says that men get it the most. Yet this happens, Thank you for sharing your story Sir.

I have a lot of respect for women who choose to join the military. That said, that respect comes with an expectation that you earned your spot instead of being handed it to fill a politician's inclusivity quota.
I was in the navy-had alot of female sailors under me. I'd say 20% were worth having around. Most of them didn't do anything but waste air and most the time I had to track their asses down to come do gd work. That being said the 20% were outstanding for female and tried their hardest which is all I coulda asked for

The US Military has refused to publish their retention rates for the last two years. Before 2019 they published that chart like clockwork as soon as the new year started! Wonder what changed? I have heard that retention of NCO's is only 50% in the last two years!
