Every time I watch one of your videos just brings me back to the old days of Star Wars figure collecting!!!! Great content!!!!! Keep up the amazing work!!!!!
I'm watching this and it'll probably be a two-parter. It is fun collecting Kenner Star Wars action figures. All my friends had these as a kid and I never really had them but I loved Star Wars. So later in life I started collecting them probably about 4 years ago. It's fun to get them and then upgrade them like you said. Get them with tight joints and the original weapons. It brings back such great memories. I also collect vintage collection so I stopped collecting for a few months and then I go back after seeing your videos and try to collect some more. I've have about 11 Mint on card Kenner Star Wars action figures like Darth Vader the Mexican version but there's a little crack in the bubble which doesn't bother me and some of them have a crease here or there on the card which doesn't bother me. I have one that says the store Zares on in price tag which I love ❤️.
I'm super jazzed that you are back in the vintage collecting game. It's so much damn fun!! Good for you. MOCS?! Yeah baby! That's gold right there, friendo!

What a stunning collection. I’ve only got about a third of the figures so far, and seeing this makes me want to hunt for them even harder. I just love that Kenner goodness.
@@GQJedi just picked up a 4-LOM (which I’d rather call Zuckuss) and Anakin for just $50. I’m inspired to be on the hunt thanks to your videos. Can’t wait to have Anakin hanging out at the Ewok Village.
Beautiful collection. You can never have enough multiples of each figure. A crying shame they’re so expensive now. Makes me wish I took better care of my childhood collection (all lost to time, decades ago). The Hasbro Retro Collection and Stan Solo have filled the gaps admirably, with additional Stormtroopers, customs, and the super-expensive “last (15) 17” figures. Now that you’ve documented the action-figures, will you do a follow-up video for all the creatures, vehicles/ships and play-sets?
Stan Solo is doing God's work. Trust. Love all of his stuff! As far as the creatures are concerned...check out this video, I review them all! ua-cam.com/video/L-f8HkTKvxo/v-deo.html I do separate vehicle /ship / playset reviews which are scattered throughout my channel. Too many to list them here but you can easily find them on the main page. Just scroll down.
For me it was the other way around. I loved the ships, the figures was just a necessity as the ships needed pilots. (I didn't have any of the playsets as a youth but have most of them in my collection now.) Now that my collection has most of the vehicles and playsets I am starting to collect the figures. I might not do variants as long as every character from the cardbacks are accounted for. I do have multiples of some as I set my vehicles up as scenes from the movies. My Landspeeder has Luke, Obi Wan, C-3PO and R2-D2 surrounded by Stormtroopers. My Falcon has Lando and Lobot greeting Han and the gang on Bespin. The Bounty hunters are all set up on the Star Destroyer playset and I have my POTF Skiff with Luke on the plank and all the appropriate figures behind him. Most of the vignette figures are incomplete but I do want to finish the set with complete figures. (I like how yours are on the risers!!) The cool thing about variants is that they can represent other characters who wore similar outfits in the movie. (Like the red hair Leia could be popped into a display as the "Woman at the console" in Echo Base.) Hoth Luke was my very first Star Wars figure! The the way the black Bespin guard (which is the one I had since childhood) has his eyes picked out reminds me of Sam Jackson's character Stephen from Django Unchained as he usually had his eyes bugged out and open wide so a lot of the whites of his eyes showed. (Especially unnerving in closeups and when he was interrogating Hildi in the kitchen.)
Awesome. Although my favorite movie is empire strikes back, I really prefer everyone's a new hope appearance. Lukes lightsaber isn't even the right color but he's my favorite anyway lol.
Beautiful collection! I really love the way you set all your action figures with "plexiglass stairs" display stand and they all look in perfect condition, congrats!
46:00 I had a carbonite Han that was just a flat black toy. I have no idea where I got it from because growing up, we didn't have much $$ so we only had a handful of star wars figures, a snow speeder & a Y-wing ship. One of the last things we got was the Ewok village. Edit: After a quick look, I found this on ebay "1981 Kenner Slave 1 Han Solo in Carbonite" That looks like the one I had, but we never had the Slave 1 ship, so I have no idea how we ended up with one of those without the ship.
Great video GQJedi! Love seeing all these treasures from my childhood and cool variants! Oh and small head Han definitely came first, big head Han came some time later and I remember the first time I saw him, I was horrified! I thought they had somehow put the wrong head on and still think it looks hideously deformed, as now IMO his body looks too small for such a big head, possibly because original Han was just what he looked like in my brain. Love that warm gold C-3PO - R2 is my favorite figure of all, Sensorscope my favorite of the line, but I had multiples thru the years as I always played with them so much that I somehow always rubbed the vac metal off them both. They were also my very first Star Wars figures, but noticed C-3PO varied between silvery gold and very golden yellow gold (and loved the latter!). Didn’t have lightsaber R2 as by the time he came out I was out of figure collecting, and only recently realized some of the dome panels around the bottom of his dome were missing in the lightsaber version compared to OG R2 and Sensorscope,R2. Still want a Blue Snaggletooth, I still remember seeing him in a Sears catalog and being utterly confounded who he was! Thank goodness for the internet and being able to find any obscure info in a second! It was literally one of the first things I did an internet search on when it became possible! And ROTFLMAO re: Weequay being a Neutragena commercial waiting to happen, LOL!
Lots of goodies to be had in the original Kenner lineup, that’s for sure! Some figures are cooler than others. But all are special for the memories they gave us all as kids! Glad this video could stir up some good vibes :)
My original R2 lost the sticker from one too many Bath-time adventures, and a Yellow marble got jammed in the screw hole cuz my 3½ year old self thought it looked like a Spotlight Action Feature!
Hey GQ, you have a great run boss! Got one for you though to go after; there were two variants of the small headed Han, molded legs vs. painted legs (the plastic is white inside the holes)... I know there are a million and one variations out there, but this one is kind of important brother; the painted legs were the first Hans out there. Being part of the OG 12, thought I'd bring it up for you. Thanks for sharing your collection with us though man! It's a great grouping!
Bro, I was not aware of that variation. I love learning new things about the collection. Really appreciate you sharing this info with me. I will definitely look at all the Hans in my collection and keep my eyes open for new acquisitions when they arise. Thanks man!!
I lied I watched it all in one run. I was collecting for about 4 years maybe three of this run and took a break as I told you I collect the vintage collection also. I also collect vinyl records and CDs classic rock and Metal. I also collect drums and symbols. I've got a few Buck Rogers and Mash action figures and some Tron. I need some chips and micronauts and Dukes of Hazzard action figures that I'm going to be working on.
Haha. The point is, you watched it all. Glad you could get thru it. Man, your collecting range is vast. That's dope. So many things for you to hunt down and keep your hobby growing.
Great collection! Fun video to watch as always! First came small head Han, then Kenner thought it was too small and they retooled it. So large came afterwards… that’s why he’s worth less for collectors.
Thanks a lot, pal! You are correct. Big Head came after. I realized my mistake after I filmed this video. Shot it at like 4am and my brain was mush at that moment. LOL. Hence, my added correction display within the vid. The large head gets a lot of bad press. He's the "ugly" one so to speak. But I think he does truly look like Harrison but the body proportions are off.
Beautiful man! I learned a lot about the figs as you walked through them. I love your display risers so you can out the figures above the next row! Do you mind if I ask where you got them? I might pick up a few.
Hi Bill! Glad you enjoyed the video and learned a few tidbits. As far as the risers, you can get them at www.gonktoys.com ! Awesome company making great acrylic products for toy collectors.
srs its taken me years to put together my collection buying up collections and keeping the best figures. I've noticed that the DSD, C3PO, Luke Xwing, Han solo Hoth are some of the hardest to find in original glory condition. Don't forget about the stiff limbs. I've seen alot of figures in various shapes lol
And i think these toys are so cool the 3.75 and i am so glad hasbro puts them out still so recently i was in the store i saw han and luke and i grabbed them they were retro return of the jedi.i told my son i was getting them for him he said no he didnt want the two figures and he asked for me to buy him something else so i told him no i said i am the parent and you are the child and boy it felt good to be able to say that so i got them for him and i think one day he will be so thankful i did as these toys are important and maybe more important then these toys is sharing them buying them for are children so they too can enjoy are passions.
In an Audio Commentary on ESB, Carrie Fisher reveals she was renting a flat from Eric Idle, and the night before the Cloud City Arrival The Rolling Stones dropped by with Harrison Ford also present... So that's why they looked hung-over. They were.
Apologies. I got the cabinets from IKEA. But I got the shelves inside from GonkToys.com ! Super clean acrylic shelving that really spruces up your collection. Tony and Romeo over @ Gonk Toys are the boys behind these magnificent additions. Tell the GQ Jedi sent you if you chat with them and place order.
Lovely collection. Thanks for sharing. Regarding your philosophy of preferring to spend $2K on many different SW toys verses just one, it would be easier to get your money back out of it if you had spent the money on just one item. But that's thinking in terms of investment which many people consider as spoiling the fun of collecting. You have a pretty comprehensive collection of toys and figures...are you missing anything?
I definitely don't view these toys as an "investment". Appreciate the kind words. I'm missing some 3 3/4" variants and the 'Droid's & 'Ewoks' figures. I would love to track all those down one day.
Dude that is one awesome collection. So many pristine figures. I find so many figures out there prone to paint rub. Bespin Han always gets paint rub on the fringe of his hair. Pilot Luke's rebel insignia on his helmet is prone to fading. Ree Yees and Greedo both get fade and discoloration on their eyes. AT ST driver, AT AT Commander, Imperial Dignitary and the Emperor are all prone to nose dents. But your figures are immaculate. I always admired the dedication of authentic vintage collectors. My Endor Leia's combat poncho is so badly faded and so are a lot of my Royal Guard's cloaks. These figures are getting old and it's at a point where I have to look into reproduction cloaks and capes. Then I see collections like yours and I'm like wow there's still plenty of figures out there that look like they were just taken out of their packaging.
A lot of these figures are prone to fading and discoloration. They 40+ years old. They all fall prey to some mishap given the right circumstances. It takes some time hunting down C7+ style figures. But with patience and some credits, you can track em down. Absolutely!

You brought up some interesting points one that when these first came out some actin figures didnt look so realistic like han for example but kids didnt care they had to wait they just were happy to finally get them and yes kenner came out with a second han and another interesting point you brought up is kids back then asked mom and dad for these figures but if their parents said no then that was it so many grownups are collecting for two reasons mostly either they had them but lost them or didnt take care of them or the other reason maybe more so then even the first reason is their parents didnt buy these for them as a child and now they buy them as grown ups to try to complete what was missing in their childhood the dissappointment of not having these great toys and it aint about these just being toys no i think it goes further then that it is about recatching memories either the memories they got when they got these toys or trying to complete their childhood by getting them now and there is some that may be like why would adults want toys but if they were truthful i think they get it as we all have childhood memories and we all have sentiment it just depends if we want to embrace it
I didn’t remember 2-1b came with a tool accessory. We must’ve lost that immediately on Christmas morning back in the day! And Cliff Clavin’s blaster looks interesting too. So cool to see your figures displayed with the proper weapons!
I found one of those big 12" darth vader in my grandmas closest still in the box. Kind of bitter about it coz i asked her for it when i was 12.she passed away, well grandma i always win...one way or the other .
1979 I was 12 I took my stormtrooper with me to the movie to see Unidentified Flying Oddball a Disney movie when I got up to leave my stormtrooper must of fallen out of my pocket so I lost it.

Have you done any videos on your set ups?? Like vehicles etc
I've done other video tours on each detolf cabinets which feature vehicles/ships/playsets that are in each cabinet.
Brilliant - where did you get the shelves?
IKEA! :)
Great video.
Thanks, mate!
Absolutely!
nice 👍
Thanks!
3:42 Hong Kong Chewie. Number one super guy.
Most definitely. The best kind of friend to have.
@@GQJedi This reference may be before your time. Hong Kong Phooey was a cartoon in the seventies with a super catchy theme song.
Ah. I don’t remember that one. But I love the throwback reference.

I get you bro.
I appreciate that.
You brought up some interesting points one that when these first came out some actin figures didnt look so realistic like han for example but kids didnt care they had to wait they just were happy to finally get them and yes kenner came out with a second han and another interesting point you brought up is kids back then asked mom and dad for these figures but if their parents said no then that was it so many grownups are collecting for two reasons mostly either they had them but lost them or didnt take care of them or the other reason maybe more so then even the first reason is their parents didnt buy these for them as a child and now they buy them as grown ups to try to complete what was missing in their childhood the dissappointment of not having these great toys and it aint about these just being toys no i think it goes further then that it is about recatching memories either the memories they got when they got these toys or trying to complete their childhood by getting them now and there is some that may be like why would adults want toys but if they were truthful i think they get it as we all have childhood memories and we all have sentiment it just depends if we want to embrace it
Reclaiming your childhood is what it's all about. Whether you had all of these toys growing up or just 1 action figure.
“Quintessential Jabba Goon!”
Gotta love ‘em!!
I didn’t remember 2-1b came with a tool accessory. We must’ve lost that immediately on Christmas morning back in the day! And Cliff Clavin’s blaster looks interesting too. So cool to see your figures displayed with the proper weapons!
Thanks, Rich!

Patience is key.
1979 I was 12 I took my stormtrooper with me to the movie to see Unidentified Flying Oddball a Disney movie when I got up to leave my stormtrooper must of fallen out of my pocket so I lost it.
Oh man...that's a tragedy to endure at such a young age. Poor Stormie.
