You know what? After watching my 10 stars Thracian general idiotically kill himself by trying to jump over his own phalanx instead of just flanking them, I kinda wish he had been a little bit more like Cassius the Coward
@@annunakim525 Well, that's what I figured, but wanted to know specifically what it added. Now I know though. Thanks! The speeches are pretty hilarious!
to be fair, RTW (And M2TW) General's Bodyguards for all factions is essentially double health beasts of elite cavalry, getting the Coward trait is actually harder than getting your generals accidentally died. Smashing decent spears often means your character die, wbile paradoxically, trying to smash into swords/axe/another cavalry in early game often actually makes your character and his bodyguards starts slaughtering the enemy, resulting in Brave traits.
It's called "leading from behind", a term used when I was a member of the Virginia Corps of Cadets to indicate a craven coward. Anybody doing that in any army worthy of the term is looking for a fragging.
“Some of you may die… but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make.”
Lord Farquaad would be proud!
Arnold Rimmer said it first!
The cheering at the end absolutely had me. They were all dead inside after that speech.
I enjoy that the all cheer heartily at the start and promptly stop as he talks of his inspired leadership 😂
Or the promise of alcohol actually somehow worked 💀

Hey one question does the Ally Phalanx kill your Cavarly?
@@nothing00164 it can actually happen but it's rare outcome so don't worry about it
Some say he is a Coward, me: He is just ahead of the curve. A bad General is a dead one.
Can't argue with that!
"You only have to stand here, die and stop the enemy." (In that order my great General?).
Absolutely!!
"That is a good defence!"
Hmm I tend to disagree
The men listening: “the hell is he talking about?…. We’re gonna die?”
Hear him say we will all be drunk after this “Oh Hades yeah my dude!”
The volume and timing of cheers in this is spot on! 😂
Absolutelty!
@@ToNerdistoHumanTNHhe is really like “some of you may die but that is a sacrifice I am willing to make”
He had me at: And we can be drunk at sundown!
I can only imagine getting this guy to 10 stat/star at age 49 and getting whatever perk trait and still hearing this lol
If he was any braver, he’d bravely run away
Cassius rolling a solid Nat 1 on persuasion😂
Best speech in the game
I think this every time I make one of these videos and then find another more ridiculous one. :D
Another great speech from Rome Total War :) , another new gem from a Golden Classic game. Thanks, I missed this one somehow.
It never stops giving!
Coward, bad defender, and drunkard combination or something?
Those 3 traits should give these a chance of coming up! Though there's some editing involved here of course.
“Attack them and, uh, that’s it.”
give_trait "Quintus Julius" "Insane" 3
"Coward" 3
"Feck" 3
There... now you have a fucked up general.
May I ask what Feck does?
@@Albukhshi it makes your general give awesome speeches

Wow. I was lucky not to hear that kind of speech through all years of playing RTW.

*loudly cheers at the prospect of getting drunk by sundown*
Yeeap, that can't be me. Oh no-sir!
I'm left inspired after this
we must embrace the most noble of roman traditions we must fight to run away
I remember one of my generals had his mom force him to make a speacg
Sounds like regular management.
It would be funnier if nobody cheered.
Give trait “Cassius Julius” Arse 6
YEEEEEaaaaaahhhhhhh...............wwwhhhhHHHHAAAAA ????????
Agreed!
In my opinion the speeches in rome 1 are way better than rome 2. Even the music of rome 1 just leaves rome 2 dead in the water.
Rome 1 was peak speeches to my mind. :D
no way, this is a real thing they say? lol i thought for sure he was doing a voice over
I promise you he cannot do that voice. This is genuine text from the game
These speeches are a gift that just keeps giving. even 18 years later!
