  • It's been 3 years since I wandered into ownership of the most unreliable soft roader ever built. And it recently began overheating AGAIN. Is the head gasket gone once again?

Oh man, I feel your pain, glad to hear it was only the radiator. Even though the one I had never left me stranded, it always had an issue, there was never a time where everything was 100% fixed and working. Although the TD4 Turbo diesel was more reliable, they sometimes like to snap crankshafts. Found out later that mine may have had suspected fracture near the timing gear and it was dying a slow death, step off the thottle and it would make a weird rattle. When these cars were made, Land Rover took out the forged crankshaft of the BMW unit and replaced it with a cast one instead🤦
The bit where you wanted them to spend money they just cheaped out. Will never buy another unless its an older Series based one.
Regarding the window, remember one day doing some grocery shopping, when I got back the rear window was down. It didn't do it again thankfully, but to this day I'm not sure what happened. As for the 4wd system, jack up one rear wheel, now with the hand brake off/engine off, you should be able to grab the tyre/bear hug it, there will be resistance with the VCU, but it should turn slowly by hand.
Ended up with a Honda CRV, much happier and it just works.

Rover is over mate! I had a diesel Rover 45, solid engine, went on the Freelander 1, everything else went out twice, gear box, suspensions, electrical problems, no AC, power windows are garbage, imobilizer, good looking car, had the exact same color, beige interior, wood trim, very good looking car... but maaaaan the problems I had with that car... leaks, leaks, everywhere, power steering, oil, coolant, gearbox oil, window wsher... the only thing that did not leak was the brake fluid...

I probably would've sold this thing if I was you... This seems like a real pain in your life!

Hi Topher. If you still have your 18 inch HSE rims, and want to sell them, please respond! Do I see them stacked in your dad's garage??? I love them! But, I'm a girl, and my little hippo only stays on pavement to the salon and other girly stuff. 👧 I would have swapped my perfect condition 16 inch SE rims with you, although my Dunlop WinterSport snow tires are total yuck. I'm in Massachusetts. I wish I could help you with your rear window. I know if you hold a button down on the fob, it goes down. Could you have accidentally done that? Best advice I can give you is, if the windows are up and work, leave them, and the sunroof closed! Somebody told me to disconnect the sunroof switch in the console, which I did a long time ago. It shouldn't be this way, but welcome to driving a "unique" Rover? 🤷

Hey! I might be willing to, not sure though. If you want to connect with me on Instagram, the link is in the description. Also, couldn’t be the key fob, as that has never worked the entirety of my ownership of the car 😂😂 great suggestion though
